Thanks Reuben, i appreciate you showing us the Human factor in this.... Myself and my luck, i wouldve had to remove the seats and fuel tank just to replace a CV..LOL
Probably best to leave the seats on, Chris. lol :) Thanks for watching!
I would have found the windscreen washer in the way!
Great stuff, love the no BS approach. Thank you !
Thanks VK4HG, we appreciate it! 👍
We knew this was coming 😂
😂
Nice job, and love the rig, your trays are the best too.
👍 Thanks, Joshua!
Your still a legend mate. Thanks for the informative video.
The last video I watched was you installing a supercharger…I remember you saying in that video your cvs will love you for it sarcastically…here we are now…it’s all about the fun though!
She looks like a beast of a 4x4! Love the content!
haha! Right! Thanks for watching, Jared! :)
Great episode, great info, and i have ti say, nothin better than a man who can fix his own vehicles
Thanks for watching, Tammy! :)
Thanks Reuben, i learnt a lot as i knew much less than you did ! Cheers mate!
👍
Thanks, Chris!
Awesome content and build, I will have to say popping the upper ball joint and tie rod is the easiest way with these rigs.
👍 Thanks, Ashrap!
Sounds like you might be a fan of AvE. Loving you videos!
great vid mate
Reuben always forging his own path.you gotta do what you gotta do.
That's it! You're true legend, Feisal! 👍
Always nice to have a hoist out on the tracks
That would be nice!
How’s it going Reuben, that’s an amazing rig. Keep up the good work👍
Thanks, Mig!
G'day Ruben. I'm a mechanic do this stuff daily, when there is two fixed ball joints on IFS vehicles. Generally you can just undo the top ball join, and tie rod end. (Might have to undo a bracket holding the brake line to allow the knuckle to pull forward just a tad extra! Sometimes you just don't get enough clearance but it's hung up on the abs sensor or brake line. You dont want to pull on those so most IFS vehicles have a 10mm bolt that goes through a bracket holding the lines in a fixed place on the knuckle out of the way of everything). A few hockey straps will do you a world of good holding the knuckle out of the way to put the CV in but also so you don't have too much tension on the brake line or abs line. Most ifs vehicles you can get away with doing just the top bit, was hard to see clearly but looked like you could have been caught up on the brake line.
Also a side note. Some brake lines have a little bent bracket clip. Shaped like the letter U. You can tap that little bracket out with a hammer and screw driver, give yourself abit more clearance. Tap it back in when done.
Well done matey solid effort! Definitely did the hard way when I seen the hub come off 🤣 loved the video!
Thanks for your sharing your input, Dusty. We appreciate it! 👍
great video great to see the mishaps
if you haven't made a mistake working on your truck
you have nt worked on your truck
thankfully that I have a toyota
That is true, Paul. Thank you! :)
Hey Reuben, had a ranger on 35's for a few years. Stay clear of GSP CV's. They're pretty rubbish. The best bang for buck brand I used was BWS From Bursons. Worth giving a go.
I haven't replaced a Y62 CV so I don't know much about this particular vehicle. From the video it looked like you could leave the caliper and hub attached, steer full lock to the right (or to the left for the other wheel) rather than pop the tie rod ball joint and just pop the lower ball joint to have enough space to change the CV shaft. Particularly if you take the spline out of the hub before you pop the diff spline, then reinstall the diff spline before inserting the shaft spline in the hub. No harm in trying it that way, in any case.
Thanks for the suggestion well give it a go next time. 👍
How good are the Y62’s though 💪🏻.
Just need to convince the Mrs that we need to chop ours 👌🏻🤣
Yes! Good luck, Brad! 🙌
Hi Ruben great video.
would you be able to tell me how many splines on the inner and outer of the cv driveshaft. thanks
Hi Reuben, great sounding Nissan and looks good. Just a quick question, what broke on the Old Coach Road? Will you do a video on what broke? If you happen to do another trip up to the Atherton Tablelands I live on a cattle station and it would be great if you want to call in? Keep up the good work.
Great upload. For all us nissan guys that don't own a ifs patrol lol.. well we know how to change a cv. But ifs patrol owners ant gonna change one. Lol
Reuben's out here giving Nissan owners an Apprenticeship... Haha... You're a legend bro!
Thanks!
I'm curious with the hub on there is there enough room for the bottom ball joint to come apart, looks like it might the cv is to close to it ?
Ruben love ya work bud ya might wanna setup graham a CV changing tool kit 🤣
👍
Thanks mate, always good to watch 👌
Thanks, Steve. 👍
The saying “the lazy mechanic does the most work” comes to mind
Good content
Thanks for watching, Geoff! 😂 👍
Mate if I ever fuck up at work and gotta do something again I say this one..
"Ah well, if it was worth doing once, it's worth doing twice!"
🤣
Dead set on the Navara you just do the upper ballpoint, only takes 4 good strokes of the hammer then they slip out. Then undo the lines from it to have it swing away more freely and the CV comes out. Fear of ball joints is odd. And you don’t hit the nut and thread of a ball joint you hit the receiver of the nut and thread.
Awesome! Thanks, Timmy!
Sorry mate Fab Rat's came up with the saying "we do it nice because we do it twice or thrice " did you put the shaft back into the gearbox before you tried pulling it out, good job, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Ill bring mine over when I do a CV
👍
Mate, that is the video best explaining how to change a cv!.....BUT, I think I can safely say if I do a front cv on my Y62, I think I might burn the kent, rather try and change it (I know my limitations😃)
Ya reckon you could show us what to do if you do a front cv and don't have a spare, when you're out bush?
There’s not much you can do in that case, If you have a front diff lock you would engage it so you at least have 3 wheel drive. If you had to drive considerable distance taking the shaft out and leaving the stubs in the diff and the hub would be the way to go.
What's it going to be like tracking?
i have a feeling, it could be more easy, to loosen the wishbone on the Chassis side.
After finding that out do you still need to remove the caliper and disc.? or can you just leave them on then remove the ball joint and the whole thing just moves out of the way..
no the hub and caliper can stay on.
Barely made it week🤣, after the tune n supercharger
Hmm hit the side were the ball joint bolt go's threw they just pop easy
👍
That was sick nice job you will get the hang of it when you break more since your a hoon 😂 I will never get the chance to change a cv in a y62 i can’t afford one 😅
For sure there will be more breakage! 😂 👍
Are they 37 inch tyres? I thought 35 is the biggest you could go in QLD?
The Patrol was MOD plated and registered with the 37” so it is legal. But it does require a bit of work and modifications to get them to fit.
Someone has to modify billet or porsche turbo cv's, then the fun would never end, and you'd go hard all day everyday with no issues
Wouldn't that be nice! 👍
Looks like the same setup as my old bt50 2009 with how it come out
👍
Chrome socket on an impact gun haha. You are better than that. Come on mate 😁
Got a feeling your starting to like the y62 Ruben
😂
Whats a cv worth? Regards Wayne
Depends on where you buy it from. But prices varies from $900-$1000+ for genuine parts
With the tracks you enjoy and the way you like to drive i think you would be better off chopping a GU and sticking a cummins crate engine in it.
👍 Thanks for watching, Nick!
Wow your Ute is so tough
👍
See if you can get some rcv axles for it and not worry again
👍
It would have come out with just tie rod and top ball joint out if the cv was still seated in the diff
It would've! Thanks for watching, Brent.
200 or Y62 Ruben ?
🤔
"We like to do it twice, cus we like it nice"...lol...or "We like it nice, cus we do it twice"
lol!
Do they make inconel cv joints ? or something Right Foot proof 😂
😂
Too much power?
😂
If the inner cv was all the way in you’d have probably got it out with the top balljoint
👍
If you let a caleper slovy down and let it sit there it will not break the breakline you let it slovy down and gentl
Thanks, RG TV
Wrong way Reuben has a better ring to it lol
the best way is to take it easy on the track and don't do acv joint
Great advice. Reuben will try his best not to 'send it' all the time. :)
To much right foot 🦶🤣😂👍🏿🇦🇺
haha that's always true! 👍 😂
lol yeah well you drive it like a solid axel what do you expect
Solid axles break just like these they also blow hubs for the sake of it.
@@vevohoeyo not so much as has flex. But yes drive like him and will have problems regardless
🤣
So much easier on a 200
Yes, but once you get a hang of it, it's fairly simple as long as you have the right tools.
If you didn't do it that way, how would you get 28mins of content? 🤣😅
It wouldn't be as fun, right?! Thanks for watching, Daniel!
Hi
Hi Carissa! Thanks for watching! 👍
Ruben just get older and then you won’t have the problem.
Out of the question, John. 🤣😅
10 things I hate about breaking cv's
Good idea! :)
Does someone from another continent has a chance to win your merch?
In the Patriot campers give away there was no chance from someone in Asia to win their's giveaway. You got to be Australian to win merchs from any Australian RUclips channel Or company.
It's not an offense, alright. We learned it the hard way. You made us learned the hard way cause you never told us non- Australian got no chance whatsoever.
Can't speak for their giveaway but in our giveaways there is always a clear note on the entry page that the entries are open to Australian residents only. :) Thanks for watching, Laloo!
