This video was really helpful as I was worried about the hazy night vision right after the surgery. It is improving as you said. It's good to know it will continue to get better over the next few months. I surprisingly am not having the up close reading issues I've heard other comment on. Hopefully it stays that way! I stopped wearing my night goggles so I will get back on top of that. Thank you!zszsx

    Great video
    I did lasik 3 days ago. I had a -5 prescription. So far it’s been life changing. I can see almost clearly but my vision tend to be a little blurry still. I’m also taking antibiotics/steroids, natural eye drops and an ointment drop 4-5 times a day. First 24 hours I didn’t touch my phone or use the TV. I haven’t left the house either aside from visiting the doctor for a follow up. Also where I live is extremely dusty, hot, and windy. I did start using the TV and phone though. It’s a little uncomfortable and I take breaks from time to time/use my eye tear drops. Im yet to return to work, or use a PC, and go back to my normal routine. They didn’t give me shields but sunglasses instead, I don’t have to sleep with them, and I occasionally use them indoors too depending on the light. Im impressed with the video though.. a lot of what you said is what the doctor said to me! Im hoping the blurry ness will go away soon though

    i got lasik done one month ago, the surgery was quick and painless, you're going to get anxious bc you will be seeing everything but they give you pills for that. After surgery my eyes were irritated and couldnt open them (felt like i was chopping onions xD) also couldn't stand any sort of light, the best thing you can do its going to sleep. The day after, i felt no pain or irritation and could see clear with some fluctuations. The first weeks sunlight was annoying (i always had some light sentivity anyways), so just used sunglasses everytime i went out. Yesterday i went to the doctor and he tested my vision which now is 20/20, i have zero dryness, only thing i still have it's the halos around lights.
    If you can have the lasik procedure i highly recommend it, i was really scared before and during the surgery, but trust me when i tell you its SO worthy.

Places like lasik plus are just pumping people through for money. There’s two people that go to the same cornea specialist I do that were turned down at other surgeons and told by lasik plus they’re a good candidate.

  • @ChrisCaledon
    @ChrisCaledon 5 месяцев назад +1

    My son just recovered from Lasik and he's fully recovered. After a few weeks, he's decided he does not need the drops, but is unsure... He's almost 21 yrs old. He was sent home with sunglasses only (no bandages). After arriving home, he went to sleep for about 12 hours. He had over-healing in one eye, but it corrected itself. There was a line of blood across the other eye. His vision is spot on, beyond 20/20. Book an appointment for the first day after surgery and book a driver, as you won't be able to get around on your own. Tip: prepare your food for the week, so you do not have to stand in front of the fridge, as it's way too bright (or turn off light in fridge).
    As an adult over 50, I asked if I was a good candidate. My doc suggested that eventually everyone gets cataracts (I do not, yet), so why not just do the cataract surgery, instead of Lasik. It's the same thing, but, if you get cataracts when you're older, you'll just have to do the surgery again. Once you do a cataract surgery, you do not have to do it again. Any thoughts?

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  5 месяцев назад

      Great tips. Yes, with cataract surgery they will replace that lens with and IOL, which can have your prescription in that lens. Knocks out the blurry cataract and corrects the vision at the same time.

    • @speedingAtI94
      @speedingAtI94 2 месяца назад

      IOL is not the same as natural lens, which can reshape to give you a range of vision, near or far. IOL is either monofocal, which you must choose between near or far vision or multi focal but it has some side effects that some people can't tolerate.
      Cataract surgery also has risk. If the implant is less than ideal, getting new one is quite risky. I think one should be careful in deciding on getting IOL before serious cataract set in.
      Also, LASIK at 50 is not worth it. If you tolerated glass so far. Stick with it. I had LASIK 28 years ago. It's been great but if I had to do it now I wouldn't knowing the risk.

But it goes away like 2-3 minutes later.

My doctor didn't say anything against water contact, even wearing make up/creams (my skin was so dry without any moisturizer all morning lol). The first 2ish hours afterwards were HELL, felt like the iodine drops burned like crazy even worse than the laser itself :D). But by now, this is gone, just slightly still blurry but alas, I can write this comment on my pc without glasses right now so it's much better already. When you get presbyopia in your 40s, your vision will get locked in at a more distant point than you would otherwise have had I.e. you may need reading glasses after LASIK when you’re older while you may not have had to if you had not gotten LASIK.

      I think I understand what you are saying. If you are nearsighted... when you hit your 40's and enter into presbyopia, you will have the benefit of taking advantage of that nearsightedness possible be able to take your glasses off to help your near vision. This change will happen no matter if you get lasik or not. But if you get Lasik, you won't have that benefit anymore to be able to take your glasses off for better near vision. And my right eye is blurrued. I'm too scared and waiting for my next check up, and I think my heart is going to stop when I'll go to another laser intervention for the flap striae. Based on everything I heard and read, Lasik *may* not be the best investment for those seeking to permanently rid themselves of glasses. To begin, as you mentioned, many people find they need to get reading glasses after age 40. However, I am 51 and do not need reading glasses; I just need glasses to see far away. Moreover, issues/nuisances such as dry eye, halos, sensitivity to light, and even eye pain have been cited as recurring themes among Lasik patients. In closing, I am not besmirching Lasik (as it was approved by the FDA), but it is so critical for people to do their homework -- and get 2nd and 3rd opinions -- before undergoing an elective procedure which could do more damage than good!

      Several doctor’s suggested doing one eye which is what I went with. I enhanced one eye and left the other eye to be able to maintain nearsightedness. I’m approaching 40. If I don’t like it, I can do the other eye. I trust their suggestion. I went back to the same clinic that did my eyes in 2008. They make you see an outside doctor before approving enhancement; she is the one who first suggested it.

      I had mine 3 days ago and I experience the same thing as you... I personally have quite a blurry vision for far seeing, but my sight improved a lot at close distance. The only downside is that I have a strong halo effect especially at night but it's supposed to reduce by 3 months.
      I found out that people with astigmatism would experience some bluriness at a distance for about 1 - 3 months before their vision gets perfect like before lasik with glasses. Your brain just has to figure out what happened and correct himself, and it takes some time.
