    As someone who worked outside for 30+ years, I wore sunglasses all the time and got so I couldn’t stand being outside without them if there was any sun at all. I have pretty bad light sensitivity, so that’s part of it. I also found on very hot days that they help you keep cool because heat can enter through your eyes. Keeping your head cool is 90% of the battle in dealing with 90+F temperatures and the way to do that is wear a hat or cap to keep the sun off your head & good sunglasses to keep the sun out of your eyes.

    I've always loved sunglasses and wear them all the time. I'll show this to my friends who tease me for wearing sunglasses all the time. In fact, I'm wearing them right now, even though it's after 8 PM and the sun set nearly 4 hours ago and I'm indoors right now watching this on my phone. I really love designer/luxury sunglasses especially.

    Kind of off topic, but sunglasses made me think of skincare. I use skin care products pretty regularly, but I have a retinol eye cream as part of it. It’s all fragrance free and it’s specifically for around the eye, but I was wondering a) when you use eye cream, should you not get any on your eye lid? And b) could retinol eye cream cause extra eye irritation, even if it’s just under the eye? Hopefully that makes sense. Thank you!

    Over the past few years my light sensitivity has been getting pretty bad, felt like my eyes were burning when out in the sun, even with sunglasses…I was living in western Colorado at about 6000 feet. I read a little bit about elevation, less oxygen and more sunny days can have an effect on eyesight…the sun was really intense. Also have light colored green eyes.
    I recently moved to Montana, lower elevation and more cloudy days…
    Light sensitivity decreased dramatically and headaches went away. If there is something to this, could you do a video about it?
    Great video by the way! The big parent company of sunglass brands throw some extra cash your way…

    One more thing that sunglasses seemingly help with is the intensity of HPPD, I don't have a pair myself but when I tried a friends on it was as if my field of view had suddenly widened quite a bit and the intensity of floaters and visual snow when looking at the sky decreased significantly. I know it's probably not your field of expertise but a video about HPPD and tips for lowering the intensity of it would be wonderful if you have any insights to share.

    How do we get a balance between protecting our eyes with sunglasses and getting enough day light exposure trough our eyes for a healthy circadian rhythm? I find that the only time I have for that is during my walking time around 9am-12am, so I want to get the benefit of daylight, but I’m afraid not to use sunglasses specially because there is no shade where I walk and I also have a pterygium. Could a hat by itself help during, for example, a 20min walk(to support our circadian rhythm)? and wear sunglasses for the rest of our daytime activities like driving to work.
    And do we need to wear sunglasses every moment we are outside even under the shade?
    Thank you some much for your videos! 😊

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  4 месяца назад

      Regulating circadian rhythm can happen in 15 minutes of morning sunlight. So your example of walking for 20 min without sunglasses could work out great. Thank you for watching.

    Ugg.. I’m 48 and I even moved to Colorado and I still can’t wear them. I feel like I’m looking thru mud. I even get my cars tinted so I don’t have to wear sunglasses. I just started getting bad eyes or needing cheaters so it’s hard for me to look at people and have a conversation and wear sunglasses. It’s just hard to wear them. Maybe I’m lucky to have this issue 😂

    I remember when I was a kid, I stared at the sun for a few minutes out of pure stupidity...moments later I felt a struck in my eye and a red blood vessel appeared in the upper white part, still there 20 years later... never forgot my sunglasses again! Also I would be interested why that happened?

    • @DrEyeGuy
      @DrEyeGuy  Год назад +1

      That is interesting... im not sure how that would happen or if it would be from UV damage or not. Thanks for sharing your story.

    • @DrEyeGuy

      So are you saying that wearing sunglasses reduces your eyes ability to see contrast, even after wearing sunglasses? Or that it weakens eye muscles?

    • @archur111

      @@DrEyeGuy I would say likey both, but definitely affects my ability to see contrast . My vision seems stronger than before. No glasses needed and I'm 60.

    Thanks for the warning. Is it safe to wear cheap sunglasses from street vendors? I gave away my last proper pair of sunglasses to a friend at a party, because they looked way better on him. And now he wanted to return the favor and brought back a couple of cheap ones for me from vacation.
