    Recently got my hands on curlyn's bonnet and pillowcase. Like you said, the quality is superior!
    On a side note, would you be reviewing curl up's range of products? (They've recently added gel, hair mask and oil to their range in addition to shampoo,conditioner and styling cream) It's not exactly easy on the pocket but I wouldn't mind buying if it gets your stamp of approval🙈

    Hi Michelle,
    Thank you for these informative videos 😊.
    I wish I knew the nature of my curly hair much earlier. I watched a few of your videos.
    Your videos have helped me identify my current hair type:
    High porosity
    Medium density
    Mostly Type 2B hair with flat crown area
    Few strands of 2c hair (not sure about this).
    I had long hair which was maybe 6 inches above the waistline.
    At present, my hair length is just below the neck with a step cut.
    I have recently started CG hair care and styling (Just roughly about 10 or 12 days ago.) but it's gonna take a while to learn the tips and tricks.

    My hair is 2b but very thin. So whenever I use gel, my hair is defined but my hairs volume decreases. What can I do?

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  3 года назад +4

      So we all talk about thick juicy clumps however, in your case it's prudent to treat your hair differently in order to make it look thicker.
      So some volume hacks might help.
      1. Firstly watch my video on the different kinds of protein. You're looking for smaller proteins which give the appearance of bigger and thicker hair.
      2. Film forming humectants are also key for you because they will form a coating over your hair, which will in turn make it look thicker.
      3. What is your curl clumping technique? Might I suggest using a comb or brush with thin teeth so that you get more clumps
      4. Trying switching to lighter weight products that won't weigh your hair down and give you the appearance of fluffy hair.
      5. Switch to a mousse perhaps?
      6. Layer layer layers!!!!! Grow your hair out and cut it in multiple layers. Layers are game changing as they give you so much volume and fullness. The trick is to have multiple layers at differing lengths.
      7. Do a post sotc fluff using a root comb or your fingers
      8. Don't apply any product to the first 2 inches of your hair
      9. Try root clipping while your hair is drying. This will give you some insane root volume which can also add fullness.
      Hope this helps.

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  3 года назад +1

      @@meghanaimandi5833 not exactly. First try all the other stuff I suggested which doesn't cost you anything. Failing which, you can buy a new product and see if it helps.

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  3 года назад +2

      I deep condition every single time I wash my hair because I have High Porosity hair. If you don't have high porosity hair you might be able to get away with doing it every second wash.
      A dc with the heat cap for 30 mins.
      Adding heat to your dc treatment can also be game changing your low porosity hair because it will help open up the cuticle. It will also cause the hair to swell up and give you more shiny juicy results.

I do overnight oiling twice a week so can we do like oil hair at night and wash out in the morning and follow by leave in conditioner and gel.. and repeat this routine twice weekly? Will it be okayy to oil my hair which would already be coated with gel? I prepare it mixing coconut oil, olive oil vit e capsule and pure aloevera juice... can I use it or are there specific oils as well to be used in cgm?

      Hi Srishti! I'm happy to hear this!
      Please have a look at my pre-poo video.
      1. Oil will not penetrate better of you leave it on longer. A few hours and the job is done. It might even cause acne if you leave it on overnight. So I want to caution you on that front.
      2. Secondly your cg friendly shampoo will not be able to get rid of the oil if you apply it to the strands.

I m using enough water and product but situation doesnt get better. Plz help !

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  3 года назад

      Yep. They use some very thick satin material. It won't rip like normal store bought satin material will.
      Ok wet frizz:
      Quite a few reasons why it occurs
      1. Improper styling
      2. Hair is not wet enough while styling
      3. You don't reapply water and get the hair wet just before creating your clumps
      4. Flash drying
      5. Lack of protein moisture balance and your hair feels like straw
      6. Lots of build up
      7. Heat/colour damage
      I suggest
      1. Doing the stretch test to see if your balance is on point and treating your hair accordingly
      2. Perfecting your styling while also using enough water when styling
      3. Perfect your product application method
      4. Apply the gel using praying hands before you create your clumps and see if it helps
      5. Keep spraying water till you hear that squishing sound while styling
      6. Do an acv rinse asap
      7. Clarify asap asap asap
      8. Try experimenting with the amount of gel you use (not sure if this will help but I have a feeling it might as this helped me quite a bit strangely)
      Tell me something, this is wet frizz while styling right???
      And is your clumping technique on point? Or are you rough handling?

    • @supriyakatta3078
      @supriyakatta3078 3 года назад

      @@MichelleManuel yes michelle this wet frizz is at the time of styling. I use requill conditioner to detangle my hair. My hair clumps as soon as my detangling is done. I mean, as i keep on raking the conditioner into my hair strands, the clumps form, after this i apply some castor oil (started using this recently and used only twice till now) and giovanni LA hold gel. I have been using this clumping technique since the start of my CG and m very gentle with my hair. Also i keep reapplying water while styling.
      So, i will try clarifying my hair @ my next wash and vl see of it helps !!
      Thanq for your efforts dear !!!!

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  3 года назад

      @@supriyakatta3078 ahhhhh I understand.
      Ok stop raking.
      Start applying using praying hands only.
      Apply leave in + oil then gel using praying hands only and then create your clumps using a wide tooth comb.
      If you feel like your products pil, emulsify it in your palm using some water before application.

    • @MichelleManuel
      @MichelleManuel  3 года назад

      @@supriyakatta3078 no no.
      Praying hands for styling only
      Detangle as usual using your fingers or a comb. That's not an issue.
      Your first step is
      1. Clarify
      2. Chelate
      3. Protein moisture balance
      Failing which try perfecting your styling method.

      1. if you're co-washing, switch to regular shampoo.

      3. If you're getting acne, download doc24x7 on the playstore, consult a dermatologist. You even have the option of sending them pictures during your consultation
      4. Do not apply apply conditioner or any leave in products to your top lengths. Focus the product from your mid length to ends.
      5. Change your pillowcase every few days
      6. Do not use heavy butters and oils
      7. Stop plopping
      8. Wash your bonnets and other accessories regularly
      9. Be careful with the amount of serum you're using on non washdays
      10. Start a skincare routine with acne fighting ingredients like salicylic acid etc.
      11. Consider going off cg for a week or two until the acne subsides.

      @@supriyakatta3078 those are emulsifiers & thickening agents. Basically additives to skincare and haircare that improve the texture and smoothness of the formula, so that it glides over the hair and skin, giving it slip and its characteristic texture.
      Please know that a product formulator is not going to make a conditioner or a leave in without an emollient & occlusive.
      The issue with humectants causing frizz will only occur if a person decides to buy raw glycerine or honey and apply it to their hair.
