    This is part 1 of my 3 video saddle build. In it I'm working on a 16" Wade style tree, building a 3/4 single rigged custom stock saddle. Please note this series is not intended to be a tutorial. It's simply a compilation of most of the steps I went through to build it.

    It's too bad you don't have a full instructional video series with explanations and narration from start to finish on making saddles because I would buy it in a heartbeat... I've always wanted to make my own, and I have an old saddle that is in really bad shape and can't be repaired. The tree is still good though. It's just cheaper to buy a new one than take it somewhere and have it done. I would strip it and reuse the tree, but I don't have anywhere within 500 miles of me where I could apprentice to learn. I've done some gunbelts, purses, Spur Straps, chaps, etc... But never a saddle. Always seemed too daunting to me. Your craftsmanship is absolutely incredible.

    Hi Agar France, a few years ago you posted a video of the creation of a wonderful old-style western saddle, from the 1880s I think. I've been looking for it for a long time but it's no longer there. It was great, especially the reminder of the rigging style that went over the fork, were not nailed down. It would be kind of you to repost it. Thank you

    To answer a question I read on here about rigging position the most common rigging position is 7/8. If you Google rigging positions there should be pictures that will show you different positions you can set the rigging. If you're making a saddle for somebody it depends on where they want the rigging set at

    Hi, love your skill, what are the frames made of? Is it fiber glass? Also are the frames made to fit a specific horse or are they just a generic size? Keep it up 👍

    • @emilyestelle7471
      @emilyestelle7471 5 лет назад

      I'm not the maker, obviously, but the frame (or saddle tree) was traditionally made of wood (long time ago) and/or rawhide. Fiberglass isn't uncommon now. They come in various sizes for different horses/riders. They also come in different styles made for different jobs. A tree for roping would be different than a tree for barrel racing. You can get custom saddle trees, if you have a horse or rider that is really hard to fit sometimes that is the only option.
