You remind me of of my dad teaching me how to hang and finish drywall. Now I know this is not a class on drywall , but it is a class on a trade that you have knowledge about. My dad always told never ignore advice or a technique or tip when working along side anyone in the same trade. Not all advice or tips or tricks are good , as time goes on youll get better at figuring that out. All that matters as long as the end result of your work is what the customer wanted. And of course to make the most money at as possible getting the best result faster than any other contenders. .. not only the best product gets the check sometimes the first one standing there to pick that check up is the customers choice to get the at job done
I have never seen that Hook & awl Needle ( at16:03 minutes) I have looked on Weaver ahd Leather Wranglers and cannot find it... is there a specific name they use for it? I have had a repair, restoration, manufacturing & Piece work business since 2002 and this would speed things up a lot ... and yes Time is Money.. :) Great video .. good job! The Leather Lady, LLC (I have a RUclips channel too) and love teaching as well. :)
Matt says he uses a Groz-Beckert needle and he does get them from Weaver. Sorry he sent me a picture so I'll do my best copying the info 1155 N.R. 175 American Shoe No. 6 HN 84/57.175.23 G 1 I'll post the picture he sent in the FREE RESOURCES section of our free online community that you can access here: www.learnwithillume.com/communities/Q29tbXVuaXR5LTI1NzA5/spaces/Q29tbXVuaXR5U3BhY2UtODQ4OTc=/
I appreciate these videos. Would love to see a cantle binding on a seat replacement. I took off the cantle binding & it tore. I’ve got to make a new one 😢
Hi Sr, I would like that you recommend me a nice set of tools to buy for my fathers birthday he is a craftman too and he lives in Cuba and those kind of tools dont exist there, and I like to buy a good decent set of draw tools to give him as gift, thank you in advance.
Bruce Johnson Tools may be a good resource. It sounds like you are looking for a draw gauge? From what I've heard the old ones were really nice. Bruce Johnson refurbishes the old tools.
What I’ve done is epoxy and rivet a wooden filler piece to the top of the metal horn and that way I have something I can nail the leather too before putting my top piece on
If you're like me, that little dot was the first mistake you ever made & you're still waiting to make you 2nd. LOL. Easy fix for it as you showed everyone. You need to charge more as you are not paying yourself enough for these days & times.

I can't find that hook/stitching awl from Weaver. Do you have a link?
I'm having a really hard time finding a saddle with a short enough horn ... Is there a way to shorten them if they aren't metal?
Matt said, "No. You need to talk to the tree maker to get a tree built with your specs on horn measurements."
your awl from leather wranglers... what are the size and blade length that you think works best?
1.75" is the length of my awl. The width is the same no matter what length you order from Leather Wrangler
