    This is definitely what Blender needs, because parallax mapping is used on the eyes of real-time characters, to fake the depth of iris and pupil. I wonder if this works for that purpose, which is where I'd use it almost exclusively. Funny thing is, that It's actually deliberate to see the iris and pupil from the side view of the eye too, because it's suppose to fake the refraction effect from the cornea bump. That's the angle of view where the parallax effect is "not working", if you know what I mean. ;)

      I haven't done any photorealistic character modeling yet, but I'm definitely going to keep the small detail about pupils in the back of my mind if I ever get around to it. Thanks for that Inveneration

    But how do I install the node into Blender 2.8? I activate the download, but it just opens an weird blender screen with none of the usual options, file, gizmos etc.
    I have tried copy past from that, dragging it into an existing project. And of course installing it from zip in addons?
    I managed to copy past it into a project. But when I reloaded the project, The node had disconnected from every other node, and had no options. Help please?

    I tested around with it, and it can really add depth to flat planes. However, it does not seem to work right with adding depth to 3D objects. Procedural textures deform (shrinking in on itself in places) when the camera moves. Is there a possibility this can be fixed in the future?

    • @Neveselov
      @Neveselov  5 лет назад

      Yes, it works well on flat surfaces, what is it intended for. I think i'll can fix it someday, or maybe someone more intelligent will figure out how to do it, based on my method:) For some reason it seems to me that the solution is very simple and very close

    • @Neveselov

      I did not make comparisons in rendering speed, as I did everything in EEVEE - it's real-time(not actually:)) Displacement not working in EEVEE, only displacement modifier, but he creates heavy geometry. This parallax mapping wery usefull in eevee, because it is real-time engine.

    ЗЫ: Все таки заплатил 10 бачей, ибо это все таки шедевр и полезность, да ещё и соотечественник. за такое такие копейки заплатить не жалко =)

    • @Neveselov
      @Neveselov  5 лет назад +3

      В моем способе без этого никак, потом попробую объяснить в каком-нибудь видео почему это всё так работает. Просто нажимаешь TAB, чтоб зайти в ноду и ctrl+TAB, чтобы выйти.
      Шедевром это сложно назвать, тем более это довольно просто, ну и искажения дают о себе знать. Вот кстати другой способ один чел сделал, но у него ступенчатый параллакс twitter.com/simonthommes и он тоже использует такой способ доступа к текстуре высот. Я же хочу сделать паралакс оклюжн, и может быть получиться обойтись без такого гемороя с группами нод, если конечно разрабы раньше не добавят такую ноду в блендер(на что я надеюсь:)))
