- Delicious rice pudding made easily in your Instant Pot. Yummm. That's all I can say.
I made this recipe for the first time so you can follow along with me. Hint: have all of your ingredients ready to go, and it is very easy.
From www.pressurecookingtoday.com/...
I accidentally dumped in a whole cup of raisins instead of 3/4 of a cup. I tried to fix it by dumping in another quarter cup of raisins but that just made things worse. The only way I could think of to safely dispose of this mess was just just sit there and eat it all. I did this in the interests of Public Safety. You can thank me later.
This was my first rice recipe in my instant pot. It’s awesome. Sooo impressed. Also added nutmeg and cinnamon
It's called "tempering" your eggs. If you just pour them in, you will wind up with scrambled eggs, much like when you make egg drop soup. Ideally, you would take some of the milk from your cooking pot and slowly add some to the eggs, to increase the temperature of the eggs slowly before adding it to the mixture.
I have made this a few times and we all just love it. I don't strain it and it comes out just fine.
Delicious. Just made it. Thanks so much!
Followed your recipe and it turned out perfect, thank you!
I would love to see you make vanilla in the instant pot.
I made this today Sandy, and it turned out fabulous, thank you for your recipe. I love rice pudding.
I made this today. Super easy. Tasted great! Thanks for sharing
I just got my IP this past Christmas and it never dawned to make rice pudding. This recipe is spot on and good for errors. Three things i accidentally/intentionally did differently. 1. I mixed the sugar with the egg and milk instead of putting it in the rice. 2. i didn't strain the egg mixture. 3. I didn't have vanilla extract, so I used Licor 43 and it was a surprisingly delicious replacement. (i was going to use bourbon as many suggested, but i don't like the taste of alcohol in my desserts. I know I am weird). This recipe turned out perfect, even with the mishaps. thank you for it... :)
Girl, I’m living vicariously through your right now. This looks SOO good!
Lol! I can't make it very often. I WILL eat it ALL!
Made this today, and wow....it came out excellent! The flavor & texture were perfect💯👍🏽
Thank you for this simple and wonderful recipe🦾🇺🇸
GOT A BIG BOWL OF COOKED RICE AND GONNA TRY TO MAKE THIS TODAY...LOVE RICE PUDDING...
I had given up on finding a rice pudding as creamy & delicious as my husband's grandmother made. This is it! Thank you for sharing this recipe! Hubby loves it!
Hello Betty
I’ve made this several times and it is one of the best I’ve tried
Thank you Sandy ! I am totally hooked on your recipes. I am new to instant pot and first recipe I made was rice pudding (double the dose) ....OMG the best thing ever, I can safely say I am never buying rice pudding again. My kids literally devoured it :) . Then same afternoon I made for supper your recipe for one pot meat spaghetti ( with marinara sauce) and that was another hit !!! You make it easy to follow and explain really simple for us beginners, so thank you and please don't stop ! Happy New 2019 :)
THANKS for posting this Sandy. New with the Instant Pot here and see you have more videos. If the other recipes are as good as this, I'll be in heaven. Your time is very much appreciated. Keep up the FANTASTIC work.......!
Thank you for the kind words. I'm working on trimming the videos by less talking, lol, as that is my biggest critique. But the techniques and recipes are very good!
I just made this and it was absolutely delicious!! I also substituted the milk with coconut milk and it was incredible. I think I'm going to have to double the recipe next time, or maybe even triple it 😀 Oh, and I did use long grain rice and it was fine. I agree with another poster regarding the consistency of the pudding with the long grain rice. It was a bit firm, but once the egg mixture was added, it was just right. Thanks again for sharing this fantastic recipe with us 😊
Ar R I too used coconut milk! Think next time I will go with 1/2 cup sugar with the coconut milk. I also added nutmeg and then sprinkled cinnamon on top. I skipped the staring of the egg mixture and it was fine.
Think almond milk would go ok?
Brilliant video and new subscriber. It reminds me of my beautiful wee Mammy's rice pudding. It took her about 2 hours to cook it in the cooker and then the oven. I could hear my wee Mammy saying that's how I made mine hen. Cheers for the recipe and video Doll.
I tried your recipe it is really really good thank you
I made this a little bit ago. Turned out amazing!! Thanks :)
Awesome! Barbara really created a great recipe! Alas, I'm just the presenter! This reminds me, I NEED to make a batch of this! Have a great day, and enjoy!
I have did this rice pudding it's the best....only thing dif was that I pre washed the rice, Perfectooooo😃😃😃
I do believe that SOME ' fortified' rices should not be rinsed... as it washes away the re-added vitamins etc.
Faith Rada not to mention you wANT the starch in this- the only time u wash rice is if it’s like an ethnic placed with pebbles and leaves that need to be picked and rinsed
why pre wash???
My mouth is watering...
Hi, I love your videos & thank you for sharing their yumminess. You mentioned about making homemade vanilla extract in your cooker. Will you please do a video on how you did that??? I’d love a shorter method to the way I do it. 😊
this is soooo AMAZING! yummy yummy yummy..thanks for the recipe! i added half a cup of whipping cream , so>>>> eggs and the half cup of cream instead of milk..
We aren't a big dairy family so I think I'm going to try this with a can of coconut milk. I have found great success using up my older raisins (the ones that get kinda crystalized) in the instant pot. They puff right up :-)
Coconut milk sounds amazing in this recipe! Maybe even almond milk... Let me know how it turns out!
I've never used eggs in rice pudding ill have to try it
I looked for your recipe for the homemade vanilla but couldn't find it...? I haven't made creamed rice for ages, must give it a go in my IP, thanks for sharing.
Very good and easy a bit sweet for my liking but that is adjustable.
Oh...... I'll be subscribing too.....!
Made this with regular white rice and added nutmeg and cinnamon...AMAZING!
It needs some nutmeg.
You must have gotten here from Townsend's Channel😁
...or cinnamon
hi! just curious, where did u buy the pot holder? :)
I always add cinnamon and nutmeg too, and maybe a bit of clove and a pat of butter. Maybe i am always craving pumpkin pie. Now theres an idea!
I wish you'd shown the consistency after the final cool down, before dishing it out. I had hoped to see whether it firmed up to my liking. Thanks for sharing.
For breakfast rice hot cereal, I add 1 tablespoon butter and saute to melt because plastic in rice I put rice and water in a bowl, remove the floating plastic, and put rice & eater in and pressure cook, the rice absorbs both flavors and the butter keeps rice from sticking , When I didn't have to remove floating plastic I put rice in without water and coat it with the melted butter before adding water. I Love it and it's a great night snack, in front of the TV or playing board games on a chili winters night. sugar and milk can be added to taste, raisin nuts etc. to taste.
I had no need of eggs. Just cooked the rice in the IP with the milk, sugar and lemon zest. 10 min. HP and 10 min NR. Then stir in two tbs of lemon juice and a good amount of ricotta cheese. Tadaaaa! Really thick and creamy rice.
Delicious recipe. I added more salt, vanilla and less sugar, but all that is determined by what your tastes dictates. I also added some nutmeg and cinnamon. The beauty of this recipe is how easily you can tweek ingredients.
It was on sale for $124 and I have heard nothing but amazing things about it so I jumped and purchased it
seems you like it sweet too
I guess so! I made it the way Barbara suggests, and of course had to put whipped cream on it!
YUM! I LOVE it sweet too, and YES to whipped cream. Haha.
where did you buy the gizmo
Fantastic Dish.Coat your pot with cold butter does not stick at all. Thank you.
The Silicone gloves are soi nice and you can pick that pot up and never fill the heat from the pot. You can't feel the heat fro. The oven. They are so nice
Where did you find that pliers that you pulled the inner pot with?
Very good. I think I would give it another minute of pressure next time; the rice was a little chewy for my taste.
There's a Instant Pot Non-stick liner?? I had never heard of one! I did just find one online though. Is it smaller than the inner pot that came with the instant pot? or same size?
how do u make that vanilla
I never use water I use eggs unstrained and my rice pudding is delicious. Never tried the IP I bought Fagor and IAIQ and love them. My second week of use. I do not like the cheese cake made in these pressure cookers however. Everything else is wonderful. I forgot: I use any ole rice. My mother made rice pudding the way I do and it always came out great.
I boil the rice in the milk, temper the eggs put it in of course I use vanilla and I use cinn.
So would you suggest using a bit more vanilla than the recipe calls for like you did? Looks delicious btw :)
Where are the spices?
Where did you get that tool for lifting the pot?
I got mine at the thrift store, but they are available on Amazon, and usually come in a 2 pack. Here is a link to one brand, and there are others on there: smile.amazon.com/Kitchen-Stainless-Exquisite-Gripper-Retriever/dp/B01HMUX25K/ref=pd_ys_c_rfy_13162311_0?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01HMUX25K&pd_rd_r=TM537FD5B361GJ1V49FH&pd_rd_w=4lTts&pd_rd_wg=lhCm6&psc=1&refRID=1ZN533SA42XNWFBT9PYM
Great recipe. Where did you get your teflon ipot?
Thank you. I can't take credit for it as it is not my recipe. :) I posted the link to it in the description. The pot is the ceramic coated Instant Pot brand that I purchased directly from the Instant Pot store on their website. I really like it! Thanks for watching, and take care!
Sweetened condensed milk?
That's what I like to use, so good! mmm!
soak the raisins first.great video
I made it but i added 1 tsp cinnamon and 1\2 tsp nutmeg, i foiubd those amounts a bit to much so next time i will add 1\2 tsp cinnamon and 1\4 tsp Nutneg.
The only thibg else i done different was i didn't bother straining egg mixture, instead i just added the eggs to a biwl and took 2 spoons and removed the white sperm things yuckie hehe, then i added the milk and vannila the mixed.
BOTTOM LINE : IT WAS LIKE MY MOM USE TO MAKE WHEN WE WERE KIDS way way ok way hahaha back in the day.
Thanks for vid
Great job.
Soak raisins first to plump up, and cinnamon and nutmeg!
I agree
Any ideas how too make this to feed 20 ppl?
Where did you get the gadget that you lifted the pan out with?
AMAZON sells them for about $10.00 or less. They are great!
Can you use old rice?? I made extra rice earlier this week
What's the little gizmo????
can I use any rice?
It's been a year since someone asked for vanilla recipe...do you have it up yet? If so where? Thanks
www.simplyhappyfoodie.com/instant-pot-vanilla-extract/
Did you add the bread
Do you have the link where you got your pot that you used inside your instant pot I have the one that came with it. I really Want to get more things for my instant pot thanks
Hi Shelia, here you go: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ICL8M1I/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=simpl0b32-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B00ICL8M1I&linkId=9e06381ace54587505c156ccd1c26783
The one at Walmart says 3 quart ! I'm glad you asked as I didnt know there were different sizes!
How do I print this for rice pudding?
Look under the minimized video and you will see a tiny triangle. It is directly to the right of where it says “Instant Pot Rice pudding”. Tap that triangle. Under where it shows Sandy’s name and subscribers ( left side of page) you will see a website printed in blue". Tap it. When you get to the website, scroll down until you get to the recipe box, and then under the small picture on the top right hand side of the recipe box you will see a 4.4 star rating. Under that is an option to print it out. Hope this helps.
You can pick up the pot by the rim it never gets hot
You can turn of keep warm prior to cooking.
Order up?
The reason you strain the egg mixture is to get that awful looking glob out of the egg. I saw the reason on another video. I don't cook an egg unless I remove it everytime...Just saying
Ok eeeee o Kay 🤪
How would you go about doubling this recipe. Im afraid i'd make it too runny
I guess I'd just try doubling it and see what happens. If it is a little runny you can turn on the Sauté function and cook out the excess liquid.
Why do you turn the pot off and time your ten-minute NPR with a clock instead of just letting the pot count up to ten?
pysankar because it turns off the keep warm setting. Don't want more heat.
Was that whipped cream on top?
Yep!
recipe for your homemade vanilla extract?
Here you go: www.simplyhappyfoodie.com/instant-pot-vanilla-extract/
Do you have a recipe for your homemade vanilla ? I didn't see one on your channel, thanks !!
Hi, I do have one, but the video isn't finished yet. Coming soon!
Oh sorry, I look forward to it, thank you.
:)
Also looking forward to the vanilla video :)

I just have extra long grain white rice, can I use that?
It wouldn't hurt to try it. I used to make a version of rice pudding on the stove with regular rice. It may not be as thick, but it will taste good!
Sandy Clifton thank you so much.
If you had to guess, how many cups of rice do you think it is after it’s cooked and before you add the other ingredients. I always end up with cooked rice leftovers from dinners and I need to know how much to separate for this recipe. 😊 thanks!
Have you made with reg. long grain rice?
No, I haven't. The arborio rice is a very starchy, short grain rice. That's why it comes out so creamy. This is also the rice used for risotto. It would be a good test. I think my mom used to make rice pudding with plain old long grain rice. It wasn't as creamy, but us kids didn't know the difference!
It would help to have you print the recipe. It would make it a lot easier to follow with no mistakes . Thanks😊
If you follow the link, the recipe card at the bottom of the page has a print option.
Great recipe, if you would like to really enhance this recipe, remove the salt and replace with the following.
4 cardamon pods, cracked open.
3 whole clove's
1 cinnamon stick
Add this and then cook on high for three minutes, using a teaspoon remove the clove's, cardamon and cinnamon stick before adding the milk and egg to sauté. The vanilla works well. You can use nutmeg rather than cinnamon, if so add this after the initial 3 minutes cooking but before sauté. Your welcome.
Cardamon isn't for everyone. It's very exotic tasting and perfumed.
Yes, cardamom.
Sounds heavenly w/ the cardamom + cinnamon stick! Great additions.
Wow I never knew anyone made rice pudding was done with eggs.
Eggs are a common component of custard.
oh come onnnnnn sandy the least you could do is tell us what that little gismo was you used and where to find it"
Vey different then another recipe I saw, what I like most is how you didn't use condensed milk. I use special lactose free milk which is undone when I add lactose condensed milk. I can't find lactose free version in store and online is very pricey.
We buy our Lactose free milk at Walmart under their own label and it's way cheaper than the name brand.
@@kaybonette I can find Lactose free milk anywhere its the condensed version that I can't find. Good tip for a better price though, thanks!
Looking good but to my mind it's missing so!e spice nutmeg
Did you soak the raisins in Vodka, Gin, or Rum? I've heard dark raisins in Vodka, and light raisins in Gin or Rum.
Would you post a link to your facebook page please? Thanks.

Was that an ant in your fresh eggs?
Rich 562 Um, no. We don't have ants. It was probably just a little blood clot.
Why do you put raw egg in the rice pudding
It's not my recipe. The egg does cook though.
The eggs make it taste fantastic, like a custard. I make mine a little different. I use a can of sweetened milk and less sugar.
Pudding is really good but basically after all is said and done, all that one is using the instant pot for is cooking the rice. Otherwise the sauté mode usage could easily be done on a stove top. No? Or am I missing something?
Yes, but why dirty another pot
I think the entire concept of the Instant Pot is that you can use it for all sorts of different things or steps in a recipe without using another pot or pan. It's a convenience thing.
Cooking your milk and eggs before adding to cook rice... lowers the chance of bacteria
Was great until the raisins lol. I'll try this without them :)
feed me
that is a huge amount of sugar and I see this everywhere...vanila and fruits make it even more sweet.
if you boil it in milk from the beginning it will change the taste for the better ..way way...better
That would be good feedback for the recipe creator, which isn't me.
this is not really a instapot Recipe? You made the Rice in the instapot thats about it
Well if this is a sore point with you, get prepared. There are Instant Pot recipes for bread, but only the dough is proofed in the pot. How about the recipes where they just use the pot as a double-boiler to melt chocolate, but call it an Instant Pot chocolate cookie. It really doesn't matter, and if you get hung up on this trivial thing, I'm really sorry.
Yeah, like that blood that came out of that egg🤮
