The older guy that was holding back the child is the person everyone should be looking for. The female “forensic expert” and the guy kidnapped the child for whatever reason and they knew the sheriff, my opinion maybe to raise jeryd as their own but knew people weren’t gonna stop looking for him so they ended up killing him, how old was the age of the the skull? Same age the day he died or four years later, they can figure it out by how much the skull has fused,

I just have one thing to say, I haven’t watch the whole video yet but I think the lady that took jaryd out should have been watching him like she said she would, you can’t blame everyone for her bringing him, plus father should have know better then let his kid go with some careless hippie group and for the helicopter in the air, in that terrain yeah it’s definitely going to miss everything unless it’s flying over a large grass plain, in hunting when you shoot a deer and it takes off into the brush dyeing, it’s really hard to find the body in the terrain if you don’t follow the blood, it takes practice( also it would be impossible in a helicopter to find it be the usually die under a bush or log, )

As a mom of a 3 year old my heart breaks for this family. How terrible that his dad had severe reservations about letting his son go but he was convinced by all of these other adults to let him go on this hike. And for these adults to proceed and take Jaryd somewhere else than they agreed upon. That’s ridiculous. Then they didn’t even keep a good eye on him? I’m so disgusted from the entire group.

I have 1 question that has been disturbing me the whole time. So the fishermen told the authorities that they could physically see the fast group when they left Jaryd. Then what did the fast group see? It was never mentioned but this seems strange. If they could see Jaryd I’m sure they know which direction he went and if they didn’t, it seems like the fishermen lied and had something to do with the disappearance of that little boy. It’s so strange how the fast group never gave their story about that last sight of Jaryd.

what is strange for me is that sheriff halted the investigation with his antics. and that combined with the way the fast group ignored the boy made me wonder whether there was someone in the fast group who might have some connection to the sheriff (maybe their were involved somehow). why we don't know anything about the people in both slow and fast group (why is it not mentioned whether they were normal ordinary people or whether some of them had any prior convictions, persons of interest). if they all saw him, maybe when they were left alone with him someone did something to him and sheriff was covering it up. Usually in these cases everyone who last seen the victim will be scrutinised, their personas investigated, but here? We know only it was 11 people, divided into slow and fast group. I guess my question is - why we don't know more about them? why no one suspected those 11 people and investigated them?

I also think the sheriff is some how involved....I also find it weird that noone was directly with Jared taking care of him on the trail. No conspiracy here folks. Part of Jaryd's body was found up a difficult ravine that rescuers didn't search. They figured it would have been impossible for a toddler to get there if they themselves could hardly do it. Other parts of his body were partially buried. His clothes were shredded with puncture marks and the pants were inside out. When mountain lions stalk their prey from a high elevation they will drag their prey back up the hill. They will also eat part of the body and bury the rest to come back and feed later. Pants can be pulled off inside out during an attack. Sadly, years of grief has pushed the father over the edge. He has even speculated that Big Foot killed him. That is where a lot of missing facts and misinformation about this case have been coming from. Sad story all the way around!

jln 618 I have some theories because I wonder the same thing. For one, people don’t speak like to speak ill of the dead, so I’m sure a lot of these people are remembered through rose colored glasses and probably for only their best moments. Second (this one doesn’t really apply here), but since most homicides are committed by someone the victim knows, the people who are typically more bright, or bubbly so to speak have a larger social circle and involved with more people so more opportunity/chance someone they know would kill them.
In this case, it would be easy for someone to lure this kid off. He seemed to be very outgoing and could’ve easily been lured off.

I hope that sheriff got fired and can never return to such a duty again. As a mom I can only imagine the agony that poor family has been in. He's only 3 and that sheriff is finding everything he can to keep them from looking. He probably has something to do with this poor boys disappearce or knows something about it he's not saying. This is exactly why police enforcement in any department is not trusted. We get police like this guy and they wonder why we disobey them and are harsh against them and for those people who were supposed to be watching him. Shame on them. If they were paying attention this could have all been avoided. That father trusted them and they all let him down. I know for sure if I was in a group whether I was a adult or a teen I would have definitely kept my eye out on a 3 year old walking by himself and I definitely wouldn't have even let him walk with two grown strangers that noone in the group knows by himself. That's the very first sign that nobody cared about where he was and what could possibly happen to him. I would NEVER even let my own son leave my side what's so ever. If it was there kids I bet it would have been a different story. If they didn't want to keep an eye out on him they should have said he couldn't go. This is the reason why I don't trust people to this very sec and until I die with my child. The only person you can trust now a days to get things done is yourself.

Exactly! Out of ELEVEN people none of them thought "hmmm maybe we should let his dad know we're going to a different trail?!" That's just common sense (I feel like) & for all we know he would've/could've said no I'm not comfortable with him being on that trail. This case just infuriates & baffles me 😠😭😭

  • @claudiasherman2447

Even if Janet didn't actually kidnap or murder Jaryd herself, she was responsible for him and had a duty of care to watch and make sure both children were safe. The fact that she didn't inform Alan they were changing trails is not okay and neither is the fact that she let him walk off really far ahead and with strangers. she should honestly be charged with negligence.

We have a really trusting relationship and I would never put their kid in any type of danger but even now I let them know if either of us so much as step out of the house. They know what happens every time i am over and we regularly go over if any rules (bedtime, diet, etc) change. This is something everyone knows as common sense. I am an avid camper, I go for a week every single year (sometimes more). Realistically, if Jaryd WAS attacked by a mountain lion or any other wild animal (mountain lions will usually go for the smallest target in a group) then his clothes would be absolutely soaked in blood, as Savannah mentioned in the video, and there would likely be more bones than were found. The police should have (still should) speak with the tour guide and get as much possible information about the man and the child. Absolutely disgusted by the lack of care from the police. I mean, this was a 3-year-old little boy :( I have a 3-year-old baby sister and if anything were to happen to her (God forbid) I would never rest until I found out the truth of what happened.
