It’s sad how many unsolved cases there are. Like all these criminals have gone on with their lives and are roaming free.

Not all of them.. a number definitely are caught for other crimes and never confess to all their priors.. some arrested for long periods for lesser charges than murder and would never admit to somegthing to prolong their sentence..

Yea it's forever hard on families. Speaking as my great grandpas murder is a cold case, I never knew him but my whole family before me always has thoughts like those.

Hannah Truelove went to school with me and was one of my childhood friends. I will never forget the day I found out that she was murdered. I went to her funeral and she had to have a closed casket because she was so brutally stabbed and beaten. The energy was so heavy and I couldn’t bare to stay at the funeral home for very long. The guy who they thought might have murdered Hannah also went to school with me but he claims he had nothing to do with her death. Whoever murdered her was very angry, it was obviously a crime of passion. There has been speculation that the person who murdered Hannah could have been the son or daughter of someone who was on the police force and that’s why everything has been so hush hush. I agree with what you said about them not finding her body when they supposedly did an extensive search for her, that to me is very strange and makes the theory I just mentioned make more and more sense. I think about Hannah all the time and I do my best to make sure she isn’t ever forgotten. It seems like as the years go by, her case keeps getting swept under the rug. I live about 15 minutes away from Lake Lanier Club and every time I drive by there my heart sinks. I get so angry when I think about the way her case has been handled and everything thats happened to her before and after her death. She didn’t deserve what happened to her. She still had her whole life ahead of her. I just hope that one day somebody will screw up and the truth will come out, the truth will always come to light even if it takes years.

I knew her for a short time. My mom worked with here mom at a daycare that’s how she and I met. We went friends for long we did hang out when our moms brought us to work and did have occasional sleep overs. She did lie to my mom saying her mom said it was okay to stay the night again. She also said she was in cheerleading. From what I can remember is she lied a lot. And when she was crying out for help people didn’t believe her. You could have known her a lot better than I did since she and I weren’t in each others lives very long. She was super funny and goofy. Her father wasn’t even in her life and for him to pop up to be in the spotlight was very noticeable and upset me and my mom. It’s still extremely sad.

I’m from Georgia. Lake Lanier has always been a place that people are like “don’t go there”. A lot of the stories of “paranormal stories” and “curse” are believed to be because Lake Lanier was literally built on top of a town. If you were to go to the bottom of the lake, you can literally find houses, roads, and grave yards. Lake Lanier is also super busy though, and a lot of the accidents have to do with a lack of enforcement of boating rules and just the large amount of people that go there. But it is definitely a lake with a large creepy history.

At the time this happened my daughter, husband and myself lived in these apartments about 100 yards from where she was murdered. A day I will not forget. We never heard any screams or anything out of the ordinary. I try to follow this still praying one day this family gets the justice they and Hannah deserves. I will say being my daughter was about the same age as this young lady (she didn’t know Hannah tho), we moved out of these apartments even though we were told we couldn’t break our lease. For our daughter’s safety we choose to move anyway!

Honestly, while I do think people should fully research their sponsors before advertising, the scam still isn’t widely known. By that, I mean, Better Help came sponsored a lot of creators beforehand, but abruptly stopped after being exposed. Due to some creators completely forgetting the scandal when they disappeared, they might just be unknowingly advertising off the guise of what they thought they could trust before.

Hi Savannah, new viewer here. I lived in the same apartments as Hannah a few years prior to her passing. The apartments were pretty secure when I lived there. It's actually almost broken out as two complexes. There is an upper pool and a lower pool. I believe her body was found in the woods by the lower pool area. The complex is well manicured and back behind the pools it gets into a wooded area which then backs up to Lake Lanier. I have walked the trails behind the complex MANY times and never felt unsafe. Many residents would walk their dogs back there as well since it borders the lake. At one point, the Georgia Force Football team actually kept a few players in these apartments.
Gainesville has A LOT of bad elements. There seems to be a pretty big gap between the rich who have lake houses and there are a tremendous amount of low income housing complexes as well. (I am from Atlanta, I live in the city and only lived in Gainesville for a short period of time.) I have kept an eye on this case ever since her passing because, as I said, I lived in the community. From what I know, I think she definitely knew her killer. A stabbing is a personal crime. Also, yes - there are rumors that Lake Lanier is "haunted" or "cursed." However, there are a lot of accidents on it simply because it is SO CROWDED. There are two main lakes in the Atlanta area if you are in need of beating the heat during the summer = Lanier and Lake Allatoona. Both are notoriously packed during the summer months and also known for being pretty dirty.
Hope this gives a little bit of help and insight!

I live a mile from lake Lanier. Yes it is man made and used to be a town and was flooding. It’s a huge lake. But majority of these accidents are caused by reckless people out there due to drinking, drugs, not being aware of others next to them, etc. We take our boat and jet skis out there a lot during the summer. It is a gorgeous lake and is super fun. If you are being safe and aware you shouldn’t have a problem at all. And yes people have said it’s “haunted” but you rarely hear that. It’s actually really nice.

I grew up in Habersham County, Ga which is about 30 minutes from Gainesville. When I was 18, I moved to Gainesville and lived there for 5 years. For 2 of those years, I lived at Lake Lanier Club Apartments. I grew up going to this lake and always hearing stories about it. My dad is actually a firefighter and he ran a lot of the calls on the lake and even the one regarding Usher’s stepson. Lake Lanier is massive and is accessible through a lot of different cities in the area. The population is very large and diverse. The lake is known for its parties especially around Fourth of July due to the lake of boat enforcement on the water. The Poker Run is also typically held on this lake and that puts a ton of drunk drivers in speed boats on the water. A lot of people try to swim out to the islands in the middle of the lake and end up not making it. Strong swimmer or not, that is a hard task. A lot of the people that go missing or drown in this lake are intoxicated and that is a fact. Yes, it is man made and there are houses, stores, graves, roads, and even a racetrack under the water. In my personal opinion, it’s an easy dumping grown for murderers. There are so many bodies in this lake that have never been found because it is so large and so deep. The fire department that covers the lake even had their team get certified in diving but it’s still so dark under there that it is so hard to even see anything. Back to the apartments, Hannah’s murder is still often talked about. The complex is massive and there are at least 12-16 different buildings that are decently spread out. The woods behind the apartments have a lot of trails through them because it leads you to the dock and the lake. There are also smaller sections of woods between most of the buildings. Working in the local ER, I had crazy hours that put me walking alone to my car in the dark. It was never a comfortable feeling being alone there. I wouldn’t even walk to the dock at the lake unless I had my German Shepherd with me to protect me. Even though it is very expensive to live there and is known as a “luxury” apartment complex, there is a lot of crime and the police are constantly there for drugs, domestic violence, and other things like that.

I personally think someone was stalking her. Like even if she's young, who makes a statement about wanting to move somewhere away from where they are currently staying at, right after mentioning an 'ugly' stalker if there isn't something true to it? I dunno, I've been stalked before so maybe I'm biased, but I think she had someone interested in her with nefarious intentions....

Savannah, I live on Lanier; within 5 miles of where this happened. Our backyard is our dock. I was so glad to see that you had chosen to feature Hannah's case. I'm simply unable to comprehend why, if not solved, at least some progress hasn't been made. The wooded area behind the complex is not secluded and is used frequently as a walk-through to and from the lake. It's practically inconceivable that a thorough search wouldn't have included this area. The complex is gated; however, more often than not, the gates are open and you can drive right through. If I recall correctly, that was one of the issues under scrutiny immediately following this tragedy. As for Lanier, there are simply too many incidents to list here in comments. Our family has a pretty tasteless joke amongst ourselves when we go out on the water...if you feel something on your leg, it's likely a body 🤪🤦 I'll be happy to email. Love your channel!

I’m from Forsyth county (where lake Lanier is located) and I can confirm that people have the most bizarre accidents there. I know someone that was driving a boat and accidentally chopped their friends legs off from flinging him off the boat and him hitting the propeller. A mutual friend died at a party after randomly wandering down to the lake on his own, where he was seen jumping in and never coming back up. These type of freak accidents happen all the time there. It’s like something takes over people’s minds and causes them to do things they would never normally do.

I live in Gainesville Georgia and can see the lake from my condo balcony. One of my best friends went missing and his body was found in the lake two days later. I have small children and have never felt the lake to be safe and one of the reasons I dont take the kids there. I remember when Hannah went missing, she’s the cousin of one of my close friends and can still remember how scary that all was. Still haunts the town. RIP Hannah Truelove, taken too young

Because there were witnesses who saw Hannah talking to someone etc. it doesn’t seem likely that she was killed there since it seems like there were ears and eyes close by. They would’ve heard or seen a struggle, screams, bushes rustling, something. Just because there weren’t drag marks doesn’t mean someone wasn’t able to carry her and drop her there. They could’ve waited till later on when they thought no one was around and dumped her body.
If she was found only 1/4 mile from her apartment, I feel like she would’ve been found sooner than she was - again leading me to believe her body was dumped after the fact as opposed to the theory that she was murdered in those woods.
I also wonder how accurate the statements were regarding Hannah being seen an hour after going into the woods with that man. I really hope that Hannah’s family gets justice and that whoever this murderer is caught and put behind bars so they can’t hurt any one else.

I live close to lake Lanier and I had no idea about its past. They have a water park in the summer and a winter themed amusement park when it’s cold off of the lake. It’s on lake Lanier islands. My boyfriend went to the water park every summer growing up and I’ve been to the winter park to sled in the fake snow. There’s tons of people there year round having fun and playing. It wasn’t until after I went there that I was doing some googling and found out about Hannah and all the crazy things that happen in the area. I read that it used to be a town that was purposefully flooded and a lot of people died. When I was there I lost my new expensive phone while I was sledding and I cried all the rest of the day so yeah I’d say it’s cursed.

Lake Lanier was well planned out and created in the 1950s, so any residents that lived in the area that Lake Lanier now occupies were moved and their property was purchased by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. They did not fill the lake with people still living there.

My boyfriend lives in that apartment complex, he actually lives in the building that faces the woods. There’s a path that cuts from that building through the woods and down to a big sandy beach on the lake and we walk it all the time. I think about Hannah every time we walk down that path. As far as lake Lanier being Haunted it’s not, unfortunately people are just drunk idiots. The amount of dumbass behavior I’ve seen take place on boats is maddening. I was at a boat party a few years ago where a friend was so drunk she fell over the upper rail of a house boat and the upper 1/2 of her body landed on the deck and her lower 1/2 in the water, we had to call DNR and she was in a coma for over a month....she was back on the lake being just as reckless as soon as she was healthy enough to do so. People are drinking on slippery surfaces, having fun, and not paying attention bc they have a false sense of security and it creates a perfect storm for accidents. I’ve definitely done my fair share of irresponsible lake activities and reckless behavior as well so I’m not judging lol just saying it’s not haunted, people are just dumb 💁🏼‍♀️
