This is the band at there absolute peak... This lineup only played one concert but it was the last for Boris Williams, the band has never been the same since his departure.
The Cure is slowly creeping into a position where they are going to be legend as they are still over-performing their contemporaries such as U2 and other bands from their time.
@@VictoriaSobocki i love the way simon gallup still holds the bass in such a bad ass way. And the way he moves around hahahaha guys a fucking legend man. When i heard he ‘left’ it was sooo shit. As much as i love robert, roger, reeves and jason; without simon the cure aint the same tbh
every note being played flows through me ... Its easy to say this is my all time favorite cure song. Its amazing what power music has. Thanks MrSimonCarbon for posting this video.
creo que es la mejor version en vivo, casi igual que la original..escucharla en directo es fenomenal el ambiente y atmosfera que dan los efectos de las guitarras...y la bateria de Boris es inconfundible!!!
My favorite part of this is that Robert looks almost identical to how he dressed in 1992: the same exact outfit, except the button-up shirt is now a flannel and the high-top sneakers with his jeans stuffed in are now boots. So really he looks exactly the same, still dressed in his unique personal style, except it's grunge. And I think he looks cool! I really like the colors he chose for his flannel--they look like "goth grunge."
All those cheesy grunge bands, like Alice and Chains and Soundgarden. So "cheesy!" Nirvana? LOL, cheese. Meanwhile, I'll be over here listening to my band led by the guy with old lady bed-hair and women's makeup, singing about a caterpillar or something. I hope the "Spider Man" doesn't eat him when he's going to sleep! Ooooh, scary!!
@Allow me I dont like Reeves , he havent cure's essence. His way to play guitar on some live songs makes hate the current band. (but only in that moment ,lol)
Creo que este concierto fue el último de Boris Williams con The Cure. Ya nunca fue lo mismo. Me pregunto que hubiera pasado si Boris se hubiese quedado, cuantas obras maestras más habrían hecho?. Nunca lo sabremos.
ths version is a you tube high score simon says boris's bring back the drums & make it wet, perry's feedback thunder, Robert's snarl shivers, P(ear)/(or)l's necking starling
I love the look robert gives the interviewer when he tells him "that he can save that one for later" lol.. dont you ever suggest to robert when he can have a beer or not lol. Also can someone who knows guitars well tell me what robert is playing?
I wonder if the sythn was purposely delayed to coincide with the vocal intro point. Haven’t heard a version that delays it to this point. Infact I don’t think the synth even returned after this.
My guess would be one of Robert's Nephews. The way he the child had know qualms about walking up to Robert suggest the he's most likely family. That would be cool if he was one of Janet and Porl's kids. Who knows.
one thing i notice about the cure's appearance in 1993 was the influence of grunge that was world wide at that time. both robert and simon wearing flannel.....only think missing is the construction boots. and i believe this was perry's first concert on guitar.
this was 1993. Perry was playing guitars in Show (1992). I mentioned Show as the most famous concert of that era, but there are videos of festivals in 1990 and Perry was playing guitar in them. Also there is the official video Play Out from 1991 and you can see Perry playing guitar there as well.
JubeProductions What? Grunge was a consequence of the 80's and this guys were wearing this style long time before the grunge scene.Even my dad back then was dressing like that at his contruction job but with his work boots on and he was not aware of that style at all.As a huge fan of the cure i got lots of pictures and every now and then they would wear some of these long sleeve shirts.
The Cure invented Grunge itself for your information and was a huge influence for garage bands , nearly every 90s alt , grunge and even nu metal bands so..... Don't talk about flannel jackets , that's was just begining of the 90s, it's was just fashionable back than that's it
@@david_post_punk Thanks for the reply. I am well aware of The Cure and have been following them for 30 plus years. I've seen them over 50 times all across the US, from small clubs like Irving Plaza in Oct 1997 and Roseland Ballroom in Feb of 2000 to Large Festivals in California in 1997 and arena shows at Madison Square Garden last time they were here in 2016. You could say I'm pretty obsessed with them and have studied their music in depth. I wouldn't say The Cure invented grunge, because that was an organic sound that came out of Seattle in the late 80's, but no doubt they had their influences. The cure spans across all genres of music from post punk, to goth to shoegaze to guitar driven rock and indie pop. That's one of the things I really love about them. They have such a wide catalog of music there something to fit every mood. I am also a fan of grunge and I lived through that amazing time in music, being only 20 when Nirvana sang, Here we are now, entertain us. I feel that living through grunge in real time gives me a better understanding of what it really was like., as opposed to my understanding of classic rock. I was born a week after the Beatles released their last album, Let it Be. Although I am familiar with all of the classic rock bands of the 60s and 70s, I don't really know what it was like to live through those times. But one of my earliest memories is the death of Elvis, then later John Lennon and even much more so John Bonham as at 10 years old I was a big Led Zeppelin fan. Anyway, I didn't mean to bore you with my history, or even try to say you're wrong. I just enjoy a good discussion about my favorite band The Cure.
Canalnal You are absolutely right bro!In my opinion he was the best drummer of modern rock of his time. And his drum structures on this song are still mind blowing!
Fascination Street is the song that first got me into The Cure!
Same. It's such a great song.
Sameeee
Simon Gallup at his best. The hair, the bass, the sound :D

I think so! And also, 3,5 hour shows? At this age? Pretty damn awesome.

this should have been released as a live album
My 1st festival in London at finsbury park, i was young 20 years with a very good friend unfortunately disappear since 1999!

es una versión explosiva realmente, pero no te olvides que no hay teclado como en la original.
The leipzig version from '90 is by far the best live version.
Funny to see The Cure into Grunge style
The Cure got me into grunge. Never Enough came just before grunge hit big, and gave me a taste for dirty sounding guitars.

Simon Gallup is still rock'in it.
even the cure wore those lame as flannels that all those cheesy grunge bands used in the 90s. Hell i even had one. ha ha! the cure. best band ever.

Dejó The Cure para formar una banda llamada Babacar con su (por aquél entonces) novia, Caroline Crawley.
Un saludo!

He didn't officially leave until 1994. This definitely was the last concert he ever did with them.

Was this it? I thought it was up in St. Paul Minneapolis for a short US tour in the Summer/Fall of 1993.
