Thirupampuram is situated 28km from kumbakonam. Bus is not available directly to temple. It is better to rent a car. Pooja Timings varies everyday and it is given clearly in video.

This temple is most popular as Tirupampuram where both Rahu and Kethu are seen in a single idol form unlike in other temples where they are separately shown. Many devotees come here to get rid of Rahu Dosha, Ketu Dosha, sarpa Dosha and get beneficial results when these two planets are in malefic position which causes ill-health, infertility and late marriage. This temple is also called Urakapuri or Sesha Puri. This place is located three kilometers from Karkaththi towards west of Kolliman on the highway between Kumbakonam and Kaarikal. One can go from Mayladuthrai, Kaarikal and Kumbakonam. It is 26 kms from Kumbakonam in the eastern direction. This temple is located between Navagraha temples, Thirunallar and Thirunageswaram. Here Lord Shiva called Paampuranathar or Sarprswarar is a Swayambhu Linga worshipped by celestial serpents like Nagarajan, Karkotakan and Adisesha. When Lord Vinayaka worshipped Shiva, the serpent around the neck of Shiva felt proud thinking that Vinayaka was worshipping him also. Immediatley all the serpents lost their powers. To get relieved of this dosha or sin, on Mahasiva Rathri , Adiseshan and other serpents offered prayers to Kudantai Nageswarar in the morning, Tirunageswarar at noon , Tirupamburam Pambureswar in the evening and Nagoor Nageswarar at night and got the blessings of Lord Shiva.
Near the Adisesha Thirtham right in front of the east-facing three-tiered Rajagopuram, Adisehsa did penance for 12 years to get relieved of Lord’s curse when once he fought with Lord Vayudeva to show off his strength. Near the flagpole or Dwajasthamba one can see lord Ganesha facing east. In the south prahara the shrine of Lord Thirumalai Easwaran is seen. In Mahamandapam towards south, the utsava moorthis of Lord Murugan and Lord Nataraja are found. In the inner sanctum Lord Shiva, a Swyambhu Linga, is seen with the utsava murthy of Adisesha worshipping him. On the left the shrine of Bramarambika or Vandar Poonkuzhali is seen. The Goddess holds a lotus in one hand and Rudraksha garland in the second while with other two hands she shows Varada and Abhaya mudras. In the north-eastern corner the idol of Rahu-Kethu is seen in a single idol, a very rare statue found nowhere else. In this village no case of death due to snakebite is reported.
Many child couples and unmarried people come here to perform Rahu-Kethu Poojas and homams to get relief from Kalasarpadosha and evil consequences of killing serpents. Many times serpents are seen in the precincts of the temple casting off their skins. Especially on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays devotees felt the smell of jasmine pervading the surroundings as a proof of divine serpents worshipping the Lord. This temple is more than one thousand years old. Chola kings succeeding Vijayaditya Chola renovated this brick-built temple into stone-built temple between 12th and 13th centuries. This is one of the 59 thevara sthalams seen on the southern bank of Kaveri. Many Saivite saints like Thirugnansambandar, Appar and Sundarar glorified the Lord in their hymns.
