The color luminance of the B9 destroys any OLED you can get your hands on. The peak brightness destroys any OLED. Yes, contrast cannot scientifically be as good as OLED. All of that said, with both tvs side-by-side and calibrated, both playing HDR content at the same viewing distance that's most optimal for 4k, who wins?
Personally, I cannot imagine the OLED winning under real-world conditions because of contrast. I base this off of one aspect alone. Did the colorist for the content grade on an OLED? If not, then any "true-black" content cannot accurately be said to be crushed or properly graded as underexposed which makes the B9/OLED arguement moot. Think about it. Yes, there are certain parts of scenes that are meant to not be seen. They are meant to be completely underexposed. However, any content that is meant to be slightly above and under complete underexposure is the only single place the OLED will win over the B9. That's how good the zone/backlight processing is in the B9. How much of that content is present? More importantly, how much of that content is covered in that "zoned" approach (that Sony seems to have mastered in the B9) vs the OLED approach? How much of that content is discerned in ambient light conditions? Could you even actually discern that there is detail to be missed without both tvs side-by-side?
It's really hard for me to accept that on the off-chance the colorist graded on an OLED, that properly mastered content would be at all meaningful or discerned amidst the everyday interaction with the tv, and that I should spend the extra $1k for the OLED. I mean, if it's your jam, go for it. But for me, the gorgeous experience that is the B9 combined with reference level audio in my home theater, I know I won't be caught up in missing that detail that may or may not even be there depending on the content. That being said, my 2017 LG OLED 65" is still kickin. Aging but kickin. So, it'll still be a couple years before I upgrade.

Good Morning, TKK! The B9 looks great in the video. I totally agree with you on the micro vs mini LED conversation....mini LED technology will dominate the market for the foreseeable future because of the cost/performance ratio. It also seems that mini LED still has performance growth opportunities. I wish Sony was more generous with those HDMI 2.1 inputs though.

I wouldn’t give up on woled just yet. The LG G4 is showing that woled isn’t dead. Yes, on paper and in the lab woled doesn’t keep up with qd oled but onscreen the G4 is matching and exceeding qd oled chops. FOMO showed that the G4 has more color volume than the G3, reviewer ogcod put the G4 against the Sony A95l and it matched and bettered the A95l in color vibrancy especially in gaming. That new Lg chip is a beast. I went to a local Atlanta area Best Buy and they had a G4 mounted in the Magnolia room. The first thing I noticed was the color pop and the clarity compared the G3. They had a A95l in the same room and the Sony had nothing on the G4. But don’t take my word for, go see it for yourself. That new chip is a game changer for LG. Don’t dismiss the G4 because it has “old” technology. On screen it’s bringing the heat. No, not an Lg fanboy. I do have an Lg in my house but I also have a Samsung, TCL, and Vizio. I liken the G4 as the Buster Douglas of tvs. Lol. Nobody is giving it a chance because qd oled has the pop. But as Mike Tyson will tell you: don’t underestimate the underdog. On paper and in the lab, no chance. But onscreen, it’s a killer. Lol

@@AllAboutTKK Yeah you explained it the vid, a point of difference. You want a check out people with a crazy amount of headphones. One for female vocals, one for bass etc, one for electronic music etc etc . Samsung must be doing a 83" next year. Sony mini-OLEDs must have shook them up. If we get a 4 stack blue OLED , at 83" then it will be pretty sweet. Samsung is definitely working on MLA tech, but can't see that hitting an 83". the G5 with 4 stacks , maybe some new materials will be a good increase color volume. The B9 next year has to hit 4000 NIts next year. That's Sony's bread and butter, plus if not it will seem "dull" vs TCL and Hisense 2025 models in the showroom .
I haven't upgraded from my plasma as still makes me happy( love foreign and old movies , great for that ) , and family games on the PS4, well an high spec PC , won't upgrade till PS5 pro comes out. Given that thinking just getting a discounted 65" or 77" and wait a year or 2 before getting something bigger to last for a decade , as I said elsewhere full BT2020 and 4000Nits is plenty for my needs .
It's just amazing how fast it's all moving. Like AMD shook up Intel and pushed Nvidia . and the Apple ARM and new Qualcomm ARM chip are shaking up small build devices.
I can't wait for cheap OLED 12" tablets for graphic novels/comics and magazines, With cheap RGB OLED printing coming .
Hand hold gamers with new efficient AMD and ARM SOCs are going to be smiling , playing latest AA and retro games on inky black and vibrant screens. New SOCS that are better than a 3060 or even 4060 , yet small and low power draw

I have always believed in LEDs, even though OLED do look absolutely beautiful. It’s like looking at a painting I repeat it’s actually quite beautiful, like a pastel painting that is to say it’s not actually real looking to what is actually represented by reality as we perceive it. Just as an ad cap several years ago I took up photography as an art and I also like painting. It’s all perception and very individualized to what you like. That’s the freedom we have.😂

We see the sun as our source of color every day, brightness equates to reality in alot of ways, especially if it's done right. Games, Movies have a hyper realism not reflecting in real life. Eg that BT2020, hard to see pure color day to day , except emissive sources like lasers, fireworks, burning metal . As ambient white light is everywhere . look at edges of green leaves, the white tinge. Given that people find the colors in games, cartoons very pleasing. Though note a dull red led is red , pure red - you can not get redder. If a TV is well color tone mapped, to your brain a 85% bt2020 coverage and 75% coverage will seem pretty much as colorful. It's only side by side , or just the knowledge the other TV does it better that affects you.

It will hang in my den and I use it mainly for movies and some gaming. because of the room has a really large window I wanted something bright. I haven't gotten it yet, Sony just barely shipped it out. I also have a C3 in a living room and projector for the theater room so I know what you are talking about when it's not always about OLED. Thank you for doing these videos and content comparisons. It's very much needed. The B9 looking great. So bright it even overwhelmed your camera a bit. Made it blow out and haze a little. But I take your words for it because you're the one seeing it. And you said it was crisp and not what you saw in your viewfinder. So that's awesome.
I mean it sure doesn't seem to lack color and brightness.
Please test Doom Eternal in different areas on PC if possible. That would be awesome to see.
A little request would be if you could show settings and try some out in a future video, that would be much appreciated. Such as Destiny or some other game and try out black equalizer off and on low etc. And gamma 0 and -1. Play around a bit to see how much it changes the looks of the game mode and black levels. I guess the ISO of the camera is really hard to deal with such a bright TV, but maybe slightly lower ISO of increase the f-stop.
Again fun and exciting to see this footage, for someone like me and others that plan to get one. It's nice to get an idea. I know you're all into OLED so if you think it's pretty decent in gaming and outside of it, knowing OLED contrast. But it still can hang. That is cool.

Doesn’t sound silly at all, yes it’s brighter and the kicker is that in game mode it’s dimmer than outside of game mode.

LG G4 is generations ahead of Sony and Samsung this year, the MLA is real, and it is not capped out! How about you just properly calibrate your sets, and then you will see how much color volume actually exists, but cute video. After dealing with Samsung black out issues along with other issues with Samsung just producing better than LG G4.

Hard to really tell the picture quality when viewing on RUclips through a compressed video. I think the only way to truly show the strength and weakness would be to compare it to another where we as the viewers can try to see the difference on camera. Due the compression, you literally have to tell us what you’re seeing with your naked eyes as the camera won’t pick that up

Biggest B9 downside is that it doesn’t come in 97” size. It’s trying to compete in OLED space and it’s the more expensive one (when we include discounts currently available). That’s bad. For same money OLED wins. OLED for less? Insanity. If they did 97” for reasonable money then I would be in B9 team

This dude basically got so many OLED TV's that he got bores enough to try and go backwards to an LED screen with this Bravia 9 bs. I would never go back to an LED after enjoying the benefits of an OLED screen for years. Brightness doesn't even matter when your black levels aren't pure with qualitative contrasts. This video was for pure sh!ts and giggles cause TKK already knows what time it is when you've been rockin' out with an OLED screen. That's like you've been driving a Lamborghini Revuelto (or Aventador) for years and now you just felt bored enough to try the new Corvette Z06 💁🏾‍♂️.
