I live out in the country and police take around 20 to 40 mins. to respond, never under 20. Ok, so what do you think about this. This was in the 90s, I received a phone call from a stranger telling me that someone was on the way to even the score with me and my wife over calling the police on them years before. I told my wife to go to our pre planed spot for her in the house and call 911. At the time I kept a Remington 1187 tactical shotgun, loaded with 00buck handy at all times. So I grabbed it and my handgun "Glock 21" in a go-to-war belt that I built after seeing a "sootch00" video years before, and got ready . Our home has a large loft that overlooks the bulk of the lower level and all doors but the door to the garage, they can't get in that door. We also have several video cameras outside and can see any car or person nearby. The person parked his car 1/4 mile down the road and walked to our house. He walked around looking in all the windows but had no clue. He got into our enclosed porch and was trying to get in the house, so I let our fire breathing dog out the front door. The dog got him down behind out gas BBQ grill and was eating him alive. All I did was tell him that if he stood up I would open fire, I could see no weapon, I never pointed my gun at him, and he did nothing but scream. Several police cars showed up and I told them about the dog, they told me my wife had already warned them. I called the dog off and they took him around to the driveway and called paramedics. He ended up with a bunch of stiches, the dog had ripped his collar bone out through his skin and ripped some of his fingers apart. So having a plan, a heads up and a good dog can turn the tide, along with keeping me out of trouble. Loved the video.

Just to make a point about a citizen vs police in a self-defense situation where deadly force is used, a cop has qualified immunity and the blessings of the state, and a citizen does not. For example, a cop will shoot if you put your hands in your pockets. If a citizen shoots another citizen just for putting their hands in their pockets, then it would not be justified. I can't say the other things that might have had my comment removed. Honestly, though, you don't know what will trigger you.
The guy breaking into your house is probably a hundred and thirty five pound meth head. Pretty irrelevant after they're inside your home. But somebody beating on your door, no. Beating IN your door, that's different.
What if someone is assaulting your vehicle and YOU are in it? I saw a video scenario where a truck had a southern flag and someone in the neighborhood they were driving thru was offended and they attacked the truck causing damage. If someone attacks my vehicle and I am in it, my first thought is... the attack is not going to end with my truck. The only reason they aren't attacking me first, is because I am inside the truck.
I don't agree that someone punching a 200lb man is less of a deadly threat than that same person punching a 100lb woman. The deadly threat is the same. ANY punch has the possibility of knocking anyone unconscious which means you will fall and hit your head on a hard surface. This could kill you. You could pass out and just choke on your own tongue.
A search light on a weapon violates basic gun safety: never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot. If you're using a weapon mounted light as a search light you are pointing your weapon in multiple unsafe directions. Don't be another Alec Baldwin. Have an EDC high lumen flashlight for searching. Weapon mounted lights are so that your sights are more readily visible in an otherwise low light environment, so that you can see what you're shooting at, and so that you're target is "blinded" by the light.
If someone has the intent to unlawfully and forcibly enter your home it really shouldn't matter to you whether they're carrying a brick. They could easily have a concealed knife or firearm that they pull out of their waistband or wherever.

Weapon mounted lights are so that your sights are more readily visible in an otherwise low light environment, so that you can see what you're shooting at, and so that you're target is "blinded" by the light.
The link doesn’t seem to be working. At least on my end
Anyone know what happened to the ballistic ink website? It’s been down for days.
In NC, while they are in the process of, or have already, forcefully and unlawfully enter your home. Full Stop.
If your life is in danger or you have told them to leave and they refuse. There saved you time.
Be careful if you live in a state that considers a covered porch "in your home". I've seen these go both ways in cases.
Yes, the legal doctrine of "curtilage" varies not just from state to state but from case to case, very treacherous.
Its not the same Eric.
I dont have qualified immunity when I F up!
If someone has the intent to unlawfully and forcibly enter your home it really shouldn't matter to you whether they're carrying a brick. They could easily have a concealed knife or firearm that they pull out of their waistband or wherever.
A little off topic, but can a private citizen sue a state of the union (IL) for infringing and denying their 2nd ammendment rights?
In theory, yes. In practice, no. And we should change that.
Depends where you live! My state is castle doctrine. I think. Now it is hard blue likely duty to be a victim until the last second! Even then your still guilty!
Every state is a "castle doctrine" state, if "castle doctrine" is properly understood.
Does it vary by the state?
A little bit, but most states fall into one of a couple of buckets. It's not like each of the 50 states has a fully unique set of legal doctrines on this stuff.
WHAT IF U ARE OUT NUMBERD BY 3 TO 4 PEOPLE AGAIN JUST U BY YOURSELF ARE U ABLE TO PULL A GUN EVEN IF THE 3 TO 4 PERSONS DON'T HAVE A GUN IN A ATTACK ON YOU
WHY ARE YOU YELLING?
@Lawofselfdefense smh 😆 🤣 just answer the QUESTION
what if you like to enjoy a few alcoholic drinks after a long or hard day at work?
if you have to draw a gun on a home intruder while buzzed or possibly even drunk, im assuming that you will be treated differently in court than a person who did the same thing sober
Nah. You're good as long as the intruder doesn't turn out to be your next door neighbor returning your barbecue tongs, or you get an unexpected visit from your bowling buddies or from your mom.
Eric should write that one down for a follow-up show, requires a longer reply that suitable for a comment here.
New trend of bad guys drilling into garage doors & pull the emergency latch to open garage. Does that count as home invasion?
Yes, it counts.
Is it an attached garage? Then yes.
