Who da fook is that guy?
@@Glocktuahdon’t know but those are some bad choices
i love my gewehr 98 i just got done restoring it to original condition last night
@@dictatorofsalt5902I would love to have one
I wish I owned a G98. SIGH.
My biggest regret as an adult is that I didn't start collecting firearms sooner.
You're an adult?
Me to buddy I squandered my money away on silly things when I was younger shouldve been buying silver gold and guns
there are people that did and they're diluting their collections , so don't give up on that
Right 80s gun shows Colt ar-15 500 dollars ak47 300 dollars.
@johnqpublic2718 I really wish I bought a house and crates of Soviet surplus ammo and rifles back in the 90's I really wish I was a more responsible baby.
It’s crazy I was just about to look up your older military surplus videos
Matrix
AH…the SKS. Canada’s favourite little semi-auto carbine. (Until Chairman Castreau tries his BS). Speaking of idiots in Government, don’t forget to vote my American neighbours and good luck!!! We’re all watching and hoping for the best for you.
For sure eh!
Praying that both Canada and the United States get their governments straightened out ! Yes vote! If not it is a bloody problem.
When I was a teenager Rose's Department Store, which was a very small southern regional department store chain that was kind of like a Walmart back in the 1980s before there was Walmart in my area, you could buy all sorts of surplus firearms for $60.00 - $150.00 range. They'd get a shipment in and stack them in a round tub. I can remember Enfield and SKS rifles selling for around $100 in 1985 or '86. Actually I think the Enfields were less then a $100 and the SKS were slightly more than $100.00. I remember there being $69 rifles.
Yes! I remember always walking by those large stashes of military surplus guns looking at the new bolt actions. The old military guns were well under $100 for years and years until all of a sudden they jumped like a sky rocket in price and became more costly than new bolt actions! Mitchell's Mausers was the 1st place I recall selling the nice collectible German 98's for high prices. I never bought one because it made no sense to buy an old rough military gun with a bad trigger when I could get a Remington 700 that would shoot tiny groups for less. Wish I had bought a couple of the old Mausers now. :)
My friends backup rifle for deer hunting was an assortment of Mosin's.
The cheapest ones that he got were $40 each. A friend was gonna throw them out and offered them to him before the garbage man showed up.. he drove over 100 miles to pick them up
I love the Swiss K31
Fugly Mosin took me back to the FPSRussia era
the good ol days

I knew exactly what gun you were grabbing with your intro to number 6. I couldnt help but smile at it. Great to be back to your roots making great videos!
Mark's videos have taught me so much and I never miss his videos.
Who’s mark?
I remember most of those guns being sold at Dunham's for $85 a piece in the early 2000s
I bought a couple mosin nagants from Big 5 $99
Dayum…
Hell, even up through the early 2010's. I got my mosin in 2012 for $90 and was able to get one with a decent stock and good rifiling by going through the bin of them
Yep, picked a yugo there for $130
Yugo SKS with a shot out bore. I gave it to a friend. LOL!
My Peruvian Modelo 1935 carbine is interesting. As an American, I can appreciate that it was rechambered at FN for 30-06.
SKS is every CAnadians first rifle aha. Some of us own like 4-6 of them just because they were so cheap at one point. A Russian SKS can cost about 700 CND which is insane to me. I Just wish we got some of the aftermarket stuff that Americans get for them to modernize them better.
You think that price point is insane now? When I bought my SVT-40, it was $380 after taxes. Now if you can find one it is anywhere from $1500-$2000
Are you guys not able to purchase American parts online?
@@OrdinaryAmerican nope between your laws and our laws very little can be shipped to Canada. I could not get some specific enfield bits shipped due to export regs
@@OrdinaryAmerican Almost nothing due to ITAR (International Trade in Arms Regulations). The US is VERY strict about anything leaving their borders without lengthy, costly and overly bureaucratic export documentation.
Eric I hope you're doing well with all circumstances. Love your vids dude thx for staying consistent!
The SKS was reportedly popular on the Navajo Reservation.
I know many family members on the rez with sks
When I first joined the Navy in 1984, I was stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, WA and the local gun shop had walls full of K98 Mausers for $100. They would even throw in a box of 8MM ammo with every purchase.
This is wild, I was just thinking today that I needed to ask for this exact video... Thanks man!
I like your videos IV88,
Why no glasses? Did you outgrow them mentally?
The glasses are part of your recognizable, signature look.
These retailers are smoking dope on some of these prices. Ill just keep my 1891 Mosin and be happy with what I have.
My vote for Fugly Mosin 👍
When you fix trigger and glass bed these mosins they are sweet.
Just smoothing factory triggers and installing a return spring increases accuracy to a remarkable degree.
Tweaking and experimenting with these old rifles is half the fun.
Your channel is a treasure trove of inspiration. Thank you for your hard work!💰🌑❕
I'm not surprised @ Fugly. I'm surprised there were no K31s, but IV8888 without a Mosin of some kind ain't IV8888.
As for me, that's a REALLY tough paring down to do. I'd have to include my 1943 Mosin 91/59, a Pattern 14 I have that's still in its original stock with the volley sight cutouts, my M28/76, my straight-stock M39, and an almost certainly Finn 91/30 sans Finn markings. The wild card would be my Molot factory 91/30 rebuild that's been somewhat modernized. That's off the top of my head, and I reserve the right to revise this list at any time. 😁
Great video as always! We need a pistol top 5 as well!
Omg I Love Anvil Gunsmithing. Mark Novak is Phenomenal. I can't get enough of his videos. That's so freaking cool your rifle was fixed up by HIM
I don’t even have a clue of where to start looking for army surplus Firearms. It looks like you have a pretty good top five right there.
Great list! Love the Fugly! One of my favorites is my Carl Gustaf Mauser in 6.5 Swede. An outstanding caliber & an outstanding rifle.
My lee enfield mk4 has been my favorite to own and shoot
My 1918 smle is one of mine
U should play Fallout London
Definitely my Norinco SKS. I would never sell mine. 30-40 Krag (unfortunately ammo is getting rare) and my 1916 French Berthier that I restored (with a lot of online help from Mark Norvak) in 8mm Lebel (Mark also gave me a good secret about where to find ammo for it).
@16 damn bro, I been watching you for a min. I new what you were talking about before you even brought it out. 😂 Much love to Fugly! ✌️
Eric , I'm super happy to see the top 5 milsurp videos again. Really digging the blackpowder rifle additions!
Hey man ..your looking better as a free man these days...stay strong🎉
" Ballistic Marshmallow". You win the internet today Eric👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Blessed Be my brother 🇺🇸
Definitely like the milsurp rifles, a buddy has some. Only older firearms I have is couple mosin nagants. I have a long one & a shorty with side folding bayonet. Both have matching receivers & bolts. Nothing special but their both in excellent condition. I like the green shorty you had that a long time now. Super cool custom sbr!
I don’t have much but I’m glad I snagged a VEPR years ago. Zastava is making great stuff right now I have a couple M70s. My recent was a PSA GF5 I said what the hell let me test her out 🤷♂️ runs great no issues
My opinion im sticking to is your original mosin videos are why the price jumped back in 2010 era
Great to see new content..........love me some Mauser's too. Heck who am I kidding I love anything that makes a loud enough boom lol.
I had a C&R for a while but the C&R market got so expensive that it's just cheaper to buy newly made firearms.
I was waiting for the mosin seeing how this channel pretty much single handedly doubled the price of them
Probably my first mosin, then my 1893 Spanish mauser that was sitting in an attic for 100 years. This was a 1896 German made Spanish American war rifle and appeared to be hit by shrapnel as the stock was blown apart and splintered. Cleaned the gun, let the inside of the barrel soak in evaporust and replaced the stock and surprisingly it shot better than my mint 1916 308 Spanish Mauser.
THE FUGLY!!!! Love it! After seeing the title, I expected to see the Swede, and you sir, did not disappoint.
I think it's fascinating how these classic pieces of history can still perform well today.
Theres a lot of black powder breach loaders but most of them use metallic cartridges so that one is pretty unique. Others I can think of that don't use metallic cartridges would be the Dreyse and 1859 Sharps. I have an 1868 Springfield in .50-70, which although some people shoot with smokeless powder is primarily a black powder cartridge and I only shoot BP in it.
The SKS. The brand new 1958 Russian SKS I bought as a gift for a friend is unreal. Shoots easy like a .22 She loves it. The thing is built like a tank. It would probably cost thousands to build today here. Canadian btw.
p.s. short length of pull really suits her too.
@3:20 naww. The problem is a new Canik is less than that. A new PSA rifle is cheaper than that. These things need to go back to 200 bucks for them to be considered "affordable" again... IMO.
I don't know why anyone would question Fugly being on the list. You absolutely had to have a Mosin on the list, and it's the most popular Mosin. Hell, I own a Mosin because of you and Barry (actually bought it from Barry at the shop) and went out of my way to go to Moss to buy my Mosin and a spam can of ammo.
Everyone has their favorites, and yours are what you like. for me, I would love to have a K98k, 1903 Springfield, and a circa 1943-44 M1 Carbine.
My daughter bought a Rashid back in the day. Super sweet shooter!
Nostalgia but with so many changes!
The Vergueiro is absolutely incredible. One of the smoothest bolts I've ever felt.
Did it just happen to be a chest day when you filmed this or are you getting pumped before each video? Whatever the case may be, you're looking healthy & happier and that's what really matters. Keep pushing yourself everyday brother 👍
At one point in time, I owned 58 SKS carbines. 90% of them purchased for ~$80 to ~$180. I kept the clean M21's, some Public Security's, the blade Type 56's, the minty spiker, lightening cut Type 56's, the Izhvesk Russians, one M59 and one M59/66, a Romy and an Alby; all matching, with no forced numbers. Sold off the remaining batch of thirty mixed but nice types btwn 2021 - 2024. No regrets. 😊
U got a paratrooper model?
@FirstLast-ff7qx Yes. Just one.
@@xfirehurican me too. Got it in like 2017. Its not the d model that takes ak mags its the fixed version. Almost all matching numbers.
My two favorites are the No. 5 Enfield Carbine and Spanish FR8, then the SKS, No4 Mk1 and No1 Mk3 Enfields.
That is by far the most badass garbage rod I have seen. Eric I need to see a video of you shooting it one handed
Very impressive collection . I have a Hakim (with bayonet) and I absolutely love it !
2016 election season was watching Eric talk about the fugly in 5 guns video. Now here we are.
I’d love to have a Ljungman AG42B, everyone should watch your video of it. I have a Husqvarna M38 Swedish Mauser and love it, amazing rifle.
Really love my Polish PM63C. Added a sling and “push pull” it it
I like #6 just because it’s imaginative, outside the box, it works, and looks like fun.
Milsurp used to be the cheap option. Now you can get a new intro level AR-15 for less than most milsurp bolt guns much less semi autos.
The krag jorgensen rifle has always been my favorite military surplus rifle, never hear it talked about much though
I have two of those. But actually all manifestations of the Ljungman. The AG42, the Hakim and the Rasheed! I also managed CG63, but it isn't related other than being Swedish! I also have a case of surplus 6.5 x 55! The The CG63 is a Swedish Mauser modified for competition by The Swedish Arsenal as a Target rifle! I lucked upon one because the front micrometer sight had broken off! I just put it back on and redrilled for a roll pin! Forced serial number match made from 93 Mauser with target barrel. Ambidextrous stock and reworked bolt and trigger. The sight is optimized for a 300meter IIRC target, so not so great for regular shooting! I do have a K98, and more rare, a GEW 98! I found both by accident, they were $150 each. Many Gew98's were sent and ended up remade into Turkish rifles with mixed parts. I think the lack of knowledge saved this one! A 1916 version with full length barrel and unblued receiver, made at the Berlin plant! The barrel and receiver match and the bore is good! Has the infamous ski jump sight with very optimistic range and S for the smokeless cartridge! I left it as is, seems no one is excited about a WWI Mauser anymore but I like it. The only bad thing was a previous owner thought to redo the stock by heavy sanding instead of stripping and all those marks are gone! Finally, there's a not really surplus gun but one made from surplus parts and that's an early as in late 1990's Springfield armory Garand Clone! If you recall, Garands were not allowed at some point to be imported into the US! Before that the DCM got some more, they were imported as part ls kits. Springfield actually decided to make new Garands with investment cast receivers like their M1A's! On the day Diane Feinstein reintroduced her first AWB after the expiration of the first, I found one, except it wasn't built on an investment cast receiver, it was assembled with an Italian made Breda receiver for the Danish government!
Looking buff my guy, great job!
Had one of those Portuguese Verago before the internet, the bolt came disassembled in a bag. The rifle cost me 25.00 and an hour or so trying to figure out how to assemble the bolt, correctly. it is not a mauser bolt. But it was very accurate and on good european loaded 8mm it would wake you up in the morning.
I have a 45’ made 303 Jungle Carbine, $75.00. I have a 43’ Inland M1 carbine,$199. I have a Mosin $95.00.
I highly recommend getting a C&R license if you want to collect these guns. Egyptian Hakim 8mm Mauser was the first gun I bought on mine.
I'm the outcast usually. I like long ago sportered milsurps. I have an 03-A3 done by PO Ackley in .270W that's hella accurate. 1891 Argentina Mauser in 257 Roberts, it's scary accurate too. A 6.5 Japanese that's is beautifully done with the trigger/safety mods. And a Remmington Mosin that was professionally sportered, but not tapped for a scope. It's interesting because it's Rm barrel, action, and bolt, (no foreign stamps) with a Russian trigger gaurd and stock, and no import markings. The one standard milsurp I have is a M39 Finnish Mosin. I prefer highly accurate rifles. They make me look good.
lookin good Eric, keep it up.
Love your description of the SKS. I love them too and go back to when they were a couple hundred bucks as well. The internet trashes them but I believe it is only because they are always compared to the AK rifle. Hope to take a deer or a hog with one someday.
Good video. But I think "My Favorite 5 MilSurps that I Own" would have been a better title. LOVE the Kammerlader!
Best shooting Mosin is like saying you’re the smartest kid on the short bus.
Excellent VIDEO👍👍
My Garand is gonna be hard to top for my fav surplus. Black tip ammo is sweet
Ill never sell my 1886 Lebel, something atout the prestige of being the first smokless gun has always kept me in love. My first two surplus guns were the classics, mosin and type 56. My project gun its a Finnish M27 that bubba cut the stock down on BOTH ends and now im slowly hand fitting it to a M39 unissued stock.
The Nagant is cool. But I would prefer a straight-pull bolt action rifle like an M95 or K31 for a project like this.
oh my that mosin lol, I don't know what to say. Love it, a rescue gun that has been saved.
You know what rifle doesn't get enough love? The Swedish CG63.
You should do a whole video on 'fugly' rifles! You can call it the Fallout 4 Functional Fuglies. It would be really interesting to see mod'd rifles that actually function and serve a purpose.
Sadly I sold my Hakim. Have a Brazilian Mauser, matching numbers, M38 and a CG53 Swedes and a Garand. Also, regretfully sold a 1917 S&W and a Brazilian 1911. 😢
Good stuff bud.
Morning, Brother
Knew there would be a mosin!!!! LOVE IT!!!!
I wish Milsurps weren’t so expensive I’d love to have a few of them. I understand most aren’t made anymore but for the love of god some the the guys hoarding the milsurps I wish would sell them so guys like me could appreciate them
16:40: nah bro, it's definitely a snooper - no mistakes, just happy little accidents 👍
You don’t need that astra in the background I will will it back to you if I go first! I had a chance to own several back in the days of SOUTHERN OHIO GUNS. I Economically challenged at that time.
Eugene Stoner was inspired by the direct gas impingement of the Ljunmann AG m42.
Thanks once again Sweden.
No K31 or M39? Youre the person who got me interested in those! (Still need to pick up an m39 tho….)
Those US citizens who already voted you're awesome. Those who haven't, times running out and you need to do your research on your local tax increase propositions and research the policies of the candidates state and federal. Most propositions and candidates have a website saying their policies and what they stand for but often don't follow those policies so ask yourself "were you and America better off 4yrs ago, or has the foreign and economic policies of the last 3yrs been what you want more of the same of. Now Go vote.

Good video, brother
Eric!!! I'll never get rid of my Yeet cannon. Best $98.00 I've never spent.
You are the best! 😊
'Old' hardly means useless.
I respect/love that 'Old firearms' are BUILT so stoutly, and if you do your homework, learn how they operate and take care of them, are 100% dependable and VERY efficient for their expectations!
I'll never surrender Papa's M1 Garand, over ALL my modern platforms.
our local gun store had cases of Mosin-Nagants for less than $100 per rifle a few years ago.
2010. 2011. Maybe around then....LAST OF THEM.....HOPE AND KEEP THE CHANGE.....
You're not a collector... you're an accumulator. Speaking as one myself. I went through hard times and had to liquidate my collection (man did that hurt...) but I've built my collection back up but I'm not going to get as 'crazy' as I did before. Love my Factory 26 SKS, Swede Mauser, Yugo Mauer, No.4 Mk1 Savage SMLE, 91-30 Mosin Nagant and some others not to mention several classic revolvers and such but I'm just about done - I want to load for them and shoot them now and buy some land where I can create my own range and shoot... again. I had that before twice. It's nice and I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video IV1488!
