I totally agree that they need to acknowledge one another, but this is an issue with Marvel in general; how many heroes are based in NY? And yet they almost NEVER interact outside of crossover events. They should be tripping over each other on a daily basis

Insomniac did better not necessarily well because in Spiderman 2 Miles didnt really have his own villain in the game but his own struggles were different from Peter. However Peter calling him spiderman the whole time even with the symbiote helped people feel like their both spiderman
I think it's going to end up causing more problems then helping because it could easily come off as still searching for validation even though he was already validated. On top of the fact they don't necessarily make the timeline clear for Peter Parker. How close was it to him being taken over by the sins of Green Goblin

The fact that Tony Stark had to get revenge for what happened to Miles regarding the Assessor and that Miles had to rely on Doc Sasquatch regarding his fraying Spider Sense was all sorts of WTF and kinda weird that it's now getting acknowledged.
Funny how Ironman stood up for Miles with the accesor incident and Peter couldn't be bothered. 😂
Peter wasn’t even around for that event and it’s crazy that when Miles was trying to tell him about what happened to him in the Saladin run, Peter blew him off and just handed off some responsibility to him before dipping.
From since the Civil War 2 Event Peter should have been there but again it's ego, they don't want Peter as a 'mentor' kinda thing even though it makes sense.
I saw people who do not read comics say the same thing about Miles' story in Marvel's Spider-man 2. I had to let them know that Marvel is working on fixing the rouges gallery for him and that is why there was no one but ... to fight in that game 🎮.
This is why they should have kept Miles in his own universe. Ever since they brought him to the 616, he and Peter just spend their time upstaging each other. Miles was a lot more interesting when he was the sole Spider-Man of his universe

I just don't like the idea of having two characters with the title of Spider-Man running around the same city at the same time. It's redundant and it's oversaturated. At least with Scarlett Spider he wasn't called Spider-Man until Peter passed the mantel down and the accentually retired. They need to really just pick a Spider-Man and stick with it. I would love to see Miles actually be Spider-Man again like back in the Ultimate days
Spider-verse Miles is still the best version because he's such a likable character without being typecasted as "Peter with melanin." His personality and humor is way different from Peter's, and the drama involving his family is fantastic. Plus, he gets points for having the best drip with the hoodie and shorts Spidey combo in the first film.
and its so effortless too while a lot of other adaptations kinda struggle to fully separate him from just being another spiderman
@@jbstudios3000 Well the whole crutch of Miles' character was based on him replacing Peter, least in the Ultimate universe. At least Spiderverse showed us that a stand-in rep for the main universe exists with Peter B. Parker, so Miles still gets the mentor storyline without having to constantly be under Peter's shadow in his own universe.
He isnt typecasted as "Peter with melanin" in the comics either. That is just not true.

Miles being in the same universe as pete, the clones, superior and spider-boy makes for over saturation of the spider-brand. He should of went to the ultimate universe along with his own Rogues

It's nothing personal about miles but at times it feels like he's early superman. Everytime a situation calls for something new to improve his powers, here's a new ability. On top of Peter's powers he has electrical powers and invisibility. It just seems silly when it happens.

I just commented these points on a SONY Spider-Man post on Facebook, and had 100s of people comment and argue with me that he’s doing just fine and I need to stop complaining that he’s just a shadow of Peter 🙄😒. So glad you made a video on this. Great job!

Personally, I think it would just be better if they just had Peter and Miles in separate universes. I don’t mind them being together in same universe, but I feel like the writers think that having them in a separate universe is better and have to agree, especially since it would make Miles stand out as his own character a lot more.
Miles works best when he's able to stand on his own. While having him and Peter interact in a mentor-student style is cool and all, he also kinda has to suffer from trying to be overshadowed by him. I think the Spider verse films perfectly shows us a version of Miles that can succeed without needing to pair him up with Peter every 2 minutes.
Miles is too popular to be relagated to an alternative reality that will just be erased eventually. See the new ultimate spider-man comic that is going to come out in january? Yeah, that reality will eventually also be erased bu Marvel, like the rest of them.
@@julio.dealmeidabranconeto5831 that's why you use dimension hopping. He's done it before and he can do it again. Use the wrist tech and have him go on dimensional adventures but make it necessary stuff that only he can do. He's operating from 616 but has to visit various dimensions (not to save other spider-people) but either to find someone or stop someone (and no not the inheritors, anything but that). Maybe he has to follow the Spot who is becoming a menace and has to stop him before he reaches critical mass or something, I dunno.
That happens with all the characters where we're the avengers in or any of all the movies that came out after avengers or during that run

I kinda agree, but I think it’s a double edged sword, where it’s harder for Miles to be recognized as his own character the closer he is to Peter, to the point of potential redundancy. But I like teamups tho. So idk
i do agree, especially that it was iron man who got revenge for miles and not peter or that peter completely didn’t acknowledge that caranage was back killing and destroying almost all of new york, so hopefully this new series is goood
Not bad. You do need to watch when you get more excited because the mic peaks quite a few times. When you feel that heightened emotion, try to back up a bit so that doesn't happen. Like just lean a little away. Also, with hard consonant sounds, try to speak at an angle to the mic so the hard "kuh" or "puh" doesn't pop the audio. Basically, avoid speaking directly into mic. Having the mic set at a bit of angle helps if you don't have a pop filter to place in front of it.
Anyway, overall these are great talking points and you do well to explain your view.
I'll say it again - Let something happen that makes him grow, I don't care what it is, Ganky kick the bucket or something --> new suit (functional with minor gadgets and no hoodie) --> Spider-volt and then he can actually 'do his own thing'. Like I said - give him the Nightwing treatment. If Miles is as big as people claim, then let him stand on his own and prove it - Just like Grayson did all those years ago.

Truly I just think the issue is that they just have to many people with spider powers so no matter what there is always someone to name when it comes to a spider man story (ie. Ben Riley, kaine, miles, peter)
I kinda don't like both of them being called Spider-Man. It's too confusing and reminds me too much of the meme. I like the Spider-Men name because it makes me think of the Bat Family. I think what would be a cool idea is when you join the Spider-Men you get a code name that's inspired by or directly referencing a species of spider. You got a big muscular Spider-Man? Call him Goliath after the Goliath Bird Eater. You got someone who has very proficient web skills? Call them Weaver. Something like that.
It's not confusing. One's miles, the other is peter. Most times, people will assume peter. If you're talking about miles, distinguish him by his name.
I wonder how people would take it if marvel would make miles be his own non-spiderman character. Meaning dropping the spider man name, and giving him his own non-spiderman style suit. Separate him from Peter, and let him have his own villains & stories. He could still interact with spider man from time to time whenever a particular situation calls for him to do so. It's possible miles could be a good enough character on his own, and have new name Miles Morales (insert new hero name here), and not be another spiderman.
They'd rather die, it's an ego and ideology thing at this point. The funny thing is DC understands and actually creates good characters this way -- Batwing, Duke (Signal) but the one that failed is Fox Batman

I don’t have a problem with Miles being Spider-Man, I think he’s fine as a legacy character, but you can’t have a legacy character when the first dude hasn’t actually left his legacy yet. They need to differentiate the 2. Miles can be Spider-Man Obsidian and Peter Spider-Man Crimson…but they need SOMETHING to tell them apart.

The Problem with Politics in Comics:
Whenever a comic tries approaching any kind of real-world issue, they always cover it in a coat of super-paint. Which isn't bad, since it keeps the story interesting, but it also strips the most important real-world applications since it places all the blame on an easily punchable villain or group.
Recently, both Captain America and Wonder Woman were relaunched with new highly politicized stories. It's gripping and you can see the parallels, until you get into the evil conspiracy origin and get told that none of the underlings are actually evil, they're just under the control of the real villain.
On a level it makes sense, since they don't want to alienate readers on either side of the debate. But at the same time, the parallels make it abundantly clear which side is right, since it always comes down to a hero VS pure evil conflict.
This isn't anything new. The greedy CEO can never be just a greedy CEO, he must be an ancient creature bent on revenge on the entire human race (Jason Aaron's Thor). The corrupt politician can never be just a corrupt politician, he must be possessed by a demon who feeds on misery and injustice (Rodney Barnes' Falcon). The radicalized youth group can never be just that, they have to be an advance scouting party for an invasion from a parallel dystopian universe (Philip Johnson's Action Comics)
It underplays the gravity of the issues being portaid with an attitude of "this sure is an existential threat to a large group of innocent people, but hey, at least they don't have to deal with actual demons, so what's the big deal?"
It all serves to reconcile the unreconcileable. Pure evil doesn't really exist. Everyone is on some level the hero of their own story and almost always the villain of someone else's. You can have pure evil villains in stories, but stop putting them in place of more complex, recognizable villains.
And it's not like there aren't realistic villains in comics. The types of Kingpin, Lex Luthor and whoever's antagonizing the X-Men can be found all over the real world, no matter the super-shenanigans they get up to.
Pure evil exists -- see psychopaths
Hero of your own story doesn't mean you're a good person -- morality is not relative
Also, I hate how "hero of your own" story has been corrupted by moral relativists
Better to say "protagonist of your own story", because hero has the expectation of good and morality while an arbitrary protagonist does not (see Mr. Brooks w/ Kevin Costner or Scarface)
I agree exploring more complex things with a real world adversary would be nice, and I also agree with you in that I don't think the current creative team at Marvel or Disney will do a good job at it
It would be highly caricatured and one sided, only this time they painted real people and situations with that brush (and are unlikely to go against the grain of their own and call the faults / excesses of their tribe out)
@cmleibenguth how is morality not relative? Right and wrong mean different things to different people based on their circumstances.
The topics debated in this manner couldn't reach the level of intensity they have if both sides weren't certain that their side is morally correct. And I don't mean the leaders of that side, who mostly look to profit themselves, I mean the people who support them, who wouldn't if their morality didn't disagree with the other side.

@@windghost2 Dick was Batman but didn't keep the mantle when Batman returned. Wally was LITERALLY the protege of Flash as kid flash. So no, it's not hypocritical, they're just not smart enough to make the right moves. Because of ego and they wanted Miles to be the 'better' Spider-man they didn't lean in on him being mentored by a far more experienced Spider-man or simply put let him have his Nightwing moment.
I love how people say miles should be in his own universe with his own villians but no one bats a damn eye when the flash is brought up. Not about Barry Allen Flash. Wally West Flash. Jay Gerick Flash. Or even Wallace West Kid Flash.
No one says a word about the flash family. I find that to be kinda messed up. Miles CAN work in the same universe as Peter if anything this is something that Peter needs. Someone that is being the other spiderman so Peter isnt always hyper stertched thin or dealing with a dumb story line that happen earlier this year.

To be fair, sticking to a simple shock over and over is boring, gotta add some variation with the use of bio electricity. Especially for someone as smart as a Brooklyn Visions student able to harness that power in a multitude of ways.

I am happy they are finally fixing Miles Morales Spider-Man finally and making him important to 616 universe but at the same time though part of me still wished he was allowed to grow and move forward as his own Spider-Man similar to the ultimate marvel universe was for him, way more then him putting in the mainstream marvel universe where he keeps fighting peter parker Spider-Man villain's but that's just my opinion.

I just wish they gave Miles his own hero name. Spider-Man is supposedly a mantle, but it originally wasn't. And I understand that Miles was the Spider-Man of the Ultimate universe, but since he's been in the 616 for however many years, he should know by now that he needs to give up the name. When i think of Spider-Man, i think of Peter first and Miles second. This is the issue they need to fix most of all imo.
Thank you! But because of ego and ideology they absolutely refuse to do the one thing that would help his character be his own thing. The equivalent would be if Nightwing instead of keeping his name remained and stayed as Batman (yes I know he was that for a bit when batman was gone but when he returned, Dick went back to his own thing). Pick a name and a new functional suit that works well with his bio-electric powes - Spidervolt or whatever else that works.
The problem is that every name they gave him sucked. Kid Arachnid, Spy-D, and Spin. It’s like a third grader came up with this. If they we’re gonna give him a name it should’ve been Ghost Spider since he can turn invisible.

Miles needs his own name besides spider man. You have Ghost Spider, Scarlet Spider, Iron Spider, Venom, Agent Venom, Anti Venom, and Rek-Rap, Miles really can’t just just “the Spider-Man of Queen’s”. Maybe Street Spider? Or Spider Bite, or Arancnotricity, anything but being a literal store brand version of Spiderman.
Miles has been Spider-Man since his inception taking that away is also taking away a part of his identity stop being ignorant

Thus give Miles the Nightwing treatment i.e graduate him from high school move him to College in NJ so he can be closer with his superhero friend group like Kamala and keep adding new unique supervillains for him and that’ll fix him for good. They should never had moved Miles to 616 without establishing him first.
Miles was moved to 616 because they wanted him to be in the mainline for brand Synergy. They should've waited first because instead of having 1 issue (establishing as a New Spider-Man) it's 2 (establishing as His another Spider-Man)

You know why I love Miles? He already had a sense of responsibility despite not being ready. He made a promise to his Peter Parker to shut down the machine and tried to fulfill that promise even though he did have the hang of his powers.
Peter B. Parker ordered Miles to stay back but Miles snuck inside Alchemax despite Peter’s orders and said and I quote
“No! I am not going to sit back and let Spider-Man die without doing anything about it; I’m not doing that again.”
He said that and refuse to sit back even though he couldn’t control his powers; he went ahead anyway! And why I love that scene so much is not only that but he was a teenager saying and doing that? What do I mean by that?
Ever since I was 14, there are those type of teens in real life and fiction I hate so much who says they are ready for this or down right disobey their elders for some shit but Miles disobeyed for a right reason: he refused to sit back and do nothing; being hopeless. He disobeyed for the moral reason. Since highschool, teenagers have been pissing me off with their reasoning in things and disobeying our moral superiors.
Miles tells everyone he will get them home and shut down the machine even though he couldn’t control his powers. He told Peter that they can say goodbye at the collider; he wanted to get them home and keep his promise… EVEN THOUGH HE STILL COULDN’T CONTROL HIS POWERS! That good side of Miles is what makes me like him.
First off help you get better soon Benny. Personally I just don't get why people are upset that they finally acknowledged the problem with Peter lately it's suddenly an issue because the other Spider-Man finally gets to say it, it'd be way worse if he just pretend that nothing happened.
This is my own hot take is they can't just throw miles somewhere else like sending him back to the Ultimate Universe whether it's the same one or not, he's just way too popular for that now and while I haven't played the recent game we have a very popular video game Universe where they show him and Peter working together
The only reason he’s in the main universe to begin with is because he was the only thing worth saving from being destroyed. And I am happy for that since Miles being in the main universe gives him more exposure to other hero and makes him a large presence in the greater universe.
Like the multiple team ups, teams he’s been on and friends his has in the main universe as well as the relationships he has with older and younger heroes is far greater than when he was in The Ultimate Universe.
And I think it’s stupid that people are getting upset with Miles calling Peter on his BS, nobody else did in the Wells run and other comics, they just gave him a slap on the wrist and excused his actions and Peter just acted like he didn’t steal from multiple people whom known him for years and a little girl, like nah Miles calling Peter out and being mad at him is refreshing since no one else would do it.
I hope it gets addressed in Spectacular Spider-Men.

Wait, Miles is getting his own villains??? are they good? memorable? iconic? or are they just shoehorned in? the prowler is a good example of a miles villain. A character they introduced out of nowhere though is not.
So I'm genuinely asking, which camp did these villains come from? Because personally, I would just give him the legacy villains that Spider-Man never fights anymore like screwball, Big wheel, Hydro man, the spot, The Trapster, Batroc the leaper. All the d-listers and f-listers. I mean, hey, it's what spider-verse animated is doing.
but in all seriousness, and that aside, I have not heard of a single new villain they gave to Miles and to me, that's a bad sign. Maybe I'm just not up-to-date but I really hope it's not just new characters that they introduced into the universe out of nowhere from nothing. those are always cheap and lazy. prowler works because it's a character directly rooted with characters we already knew. It's an extension of what we already had rather than just an addition to a roster of characters.
I guess what I'm really asking is are these new villains extensions to the universe or additions to the universe? Cause only one of those is not considered lazy writing in my book.
There's Frost Pharaoh: a guy who can manipulate ice with his Egyptian staff.
Bumbler: a bee themed criminal with gadgets.
Rabble: a young engineer who has a vendetta against Miles (and the system) for winning the private school lottery, yet failing said school, while she had to struggle and watch her family work themselves to death for her.
Hightail: a speedster working for a anti-superhero task force.

My biggest issue with DC is they keep creating one-off villains as if they are trying to introduce someone eles fanfic OC. I don't like it when villains are just "spawned into the universe" where they have to now go over their backstory, usually in the form of a cheap arse flash-back.
Rabble sounds generic, but atleast he could be setup in advanced in the background without feeling like they just thrown a random character into the spotlight out of no where, started as, you know, an actual character before turning villain.
This is why I said "expand". As in, branch them off from something that was already existing prior in the universe. Like, "what if the prowler had an old crew that he used to run with". Stuff like that where it's extending off something we already had.

You remember how they introduced "peters" corporate evil guy? They made him THE LITERAL FATHER of peters best friend. There was narrative entanglement to be able to more naturally weve him into the story beyond just "spider-man needs a new villain to fight, lets just spawn one into the universe".
