@@KeithWheelerBooks Hi, when resizing the page you added .125 for the bleed, where did you get the number from? Does the number differ depending on how many pages you have? (Just trying to size mine at the moment, and it keeps coming onto the page tiny.
The .125 inch bleed on the top, bottom, right and left side come from KDP's website. This "bleed" is to account for the cutting of the cover when the POD company makes the physical book. Regardless of the number of the pages in the interior, the cover bleed will always be the .125 inches all the way around the book. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Hey Keith. I have just been through this video again looking at how to create a spine for a 160 page book - 0.36 of an inch. I cannot see where you have covered this step. Maybe in another video? Need some help here. Also, bloody good videos. I like your approach and the ease in which I can follow.
Thanks for the kind words, Graeme. I will cover this in another video, but to add in a spine, simply click on elements and grab a square or rectangle shape and stretch it to fit over the spine area on your template. Now you can go in and change the color of the spine by selecting the color in the top right corner. Finally, if you’d like to add text to your spine(has to be at least 101 pages in your book), simply create a text element, type out what you want on your spine, then use the rotate knob to rotate it until it’s vertical. Reduce the transparency temporarily so you can make sure it’s fitting within the dotted lines on your spine. I hope this helps.

@@KeithWheelerBooks I published 3 poetry e-books (Mystical Nature, Bonds of a lifetime, Be You ---- sharing this so that in case you find time you might want to take a look and provide your feedback on how they have come out, it will be very helpful to me) this year and was running around to see how to do paperbacks after failing multiple times with cover page creation and irritating formatting issues. Now I will try using your suggestions and will keep you posted on my progress and any doubts I have.
That sounds great. I’m glad you were able to find the answers you were looking for.
I appreciate the valuable information you share, and that the videos are short and straight to the point.
Thanks. I've been trying to make a conscious effort to shorten the videos as I know people are busy and have limited free time. Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Good Morning Keith...I have been struggling with my Amazon book cover and getting that darn pop up box that says my image is to big... I asked Google to help me and your video popped up...I have binged watched them subscribed and "smashed" the bell...you are calming and confident clear to understand ...I appreciated how focused you are....and you solved my issues and I didn't have to wait and watch 15 minutes of nonsense like others do...Thank you for your time in sharing and editing ....I am publishing children's coloring books !
short grub, you just made my day! I love hearing that my content is helpful to my viewers! Children’s coloring books is one niche I haven’t tapped into. I tried to do a coloring book version of my My Buddy Knows Letters book but it did not turn out well.

Keith, this was great! But Kindle templates don’t seem as intuitive.Any chance you’ll make a RUclips for a kindle cover? Thanks for all you do!
Lois, thanks for commenting. I’ve verified with KDP that their paperback templates are the same templates that Createspace use to use. I do plan on doing a video in the future on how to utilize their cover creator.
@@KeithWheelerBooks Thank you, Keith. I look forward to seeing that youtube!

Subha Malik, thanks again for the kind words. I’m gladly you’re finding value in my videos.
this really helped me after hours of frustration..Im specifically trying to do kdp book cover pdf upload in Ingram my book does require a spine , so I'm hoping I can add a spine. The volume seems low, compared to ther on my computer, but I am so happy you have shared this I could hug you! I'm going to try to do both kdp/ingram and upload and see if they accept them.
anitainmexico, thanks for watching. You can select a shape element and make a rectangle and use that for the spine
Him this was awesome! I have been attempting to do this for 2 whole years now for Barnes & Noble! Only issue, Canva has changed so much since this vid, so it would be even more awesome if you could do an updated one. But thanks so much!

Great guidelines. Thank you. One tip for others: perhaps would be easier to choose px for dimensions, then go to your downloaded teamplate picture properties where you can see what are px dimensions exactly. Cheers mate.
That’s a good idea, but I know many people are overwhelmed by the thought of working in pixels. But it is a great way to be more exact.
Keith, thank you so much for showing me a simple way to upload the file from CS to Canva. I have a Mac, so no paint, but I intuitively went to Pixelmator and was able to save it as a jpeg file and upload it. You saved my sanity!!! ~ Your New Subscriber!

thank you! Amazon actually gives the dimensions, therefore it was easy to get right cover design!
Yes, they do make it pretty easy to get the dimensions correct the first time.
Very well explained. I'm not quite there yet - technology isn’t my strong point. Thanks for your help. Going to check out which platform I'm using - It looks like KDP do both formats now, which may make it easier 😐
Yes they do.
Wondering how to get my text on the spine. Guess I'll play around with it some. thanks for the good info!!
I had a follow up video when I covered the spine.

Do you also have a video on how to put some print on the spine ?
Yes I have a video for putting text on a spine. The thumbnail says something like Don’t be spineless.
Hey Keith, thanks for simplification. How about the spine of the book?
You're very welcome! Here's a link to the spine creation in canva video: ruclips.net/video/QAUlMHP3c8g/видео.html
This was freakin awesome! Thank you!!
