Disclaimer - since I filmed this video, Originality. Ai updated their tool to now detect content that are just run through quillbot + grammarly so this rewrite method doesn’t work anymore. BUT that wasn’t the point of the video. The point was to never copy paste from chatgpt without rewriting to make the content your own, and quillbot was just one way of doing it. You can still manually rewrite it and do the same thing.
I agree, Sean -- whatever you do as the author with AI, etc., go through and write or re-write the content with your own "voice" -- your own way of saying things, your own examples, etc. That's real work, no question about it. But it's better than trying to take the easy way of having AI write the content and then run into account problems with Amazon.
@@bentoleal8690 yeah, but you can train it to learn your writing style and rewrite content on your writing style. So it will take your working draft and make it in your voice.
@@comeforaride Probably true. What I’m finding both the safest, as well as the most satisfying, is to use AI for some basic content and then go line by line and write it my own way, and then run it all through Grammarly.
I'd like to add something that is working incredibly well for me. If you include "without adjectives" in your writing requests, chat bots will literally strip out all adjectives from their responses. This not only gives you less physical words to edit (Step #2 in the video) but you can then "color" that bland text with the adjectives that make your writing voice yours.
@@clashiii3852 Sure. Because AIs are designed to lean heavily on a handful of adjectives and adverbs, you're going to have 800,000 "quickly"s to edit. Text without adjectives is both pithy and a great opportunity to reserve powerful descriptors for areas of your text that need an emotional "pop".
I use Grammarly Premium But I also use Word, one of the things I found most helpful is to listen to the audio. You do this by clicking review and then clicking the big 'A' for audio. It's robotic, but hearing the story helps me to edit things I might have missed.
Grammarly is a keylogger (spyware) program. I sure hope you don't have confidential files on your computer, or writing sensitive information, because you are sharing everything.
As a freelancer I use Grammarly as my editor to check for anything that I might have missed. When you read your own work your brain can fool you and miss things. Grammarly does a nice job of pointing out small things that I've missed, such as the tense of a word, or forgetting to add a conjunction or adjective. However, as the Grammarly team will tell you themselves, they are SUGGESTIONS and sometimes their suggestions will technically change the meaning of your text. Therefore, do not just quickly click accept on every suggestion to speed things along. Take the time to read each suggestion and ensure that it fits. Based on my experience, the suggestions in red (correctness) are nearly always correct. The suggestions for clarity, engagement, and delivery can be very subjective and you may find they don't fit your message. Just slow down and take time to review each one.
Hey I have a finished manuscript and images and I'm stuck at this point. Can you tell me how I can format this book and put it together. I came to this video thinking maybe chat gpt can format the book and give me the correct file type and size so I can upload to ingramspark. Please help. Hope this message finds you well.
This cured my writer's block. 1. write 3-4 paragraphs that are 100% yours. 2. Enter that to chatgpt. 3. Enter command to chatgpt, "copy my writing style and continue the story."
I do it before. You can also tell gpt, When I paste some of my novel, I want you to continue my novel in my writing style. Continue the novel for 500 more words. you can add more than 500 or less. You can also tell it to write in another authors writing style. Like Stephen King or someone else. After you tell it that you want it to continue your novel when you paste, every time you paste info on that chat, it will automatically continue your novel
Hi, I'm an established author and have several books under my belt. About five years ago I began working on another one. A lot has happened in my life in the last five years and I became completely blocked. I came across this video and had no idea what this was, however, I tried it and it's amazing! I use a few paragraphs of my own work, ask it to finish the story in my own voice and it gave me back several paragraphs that sounded like my style. I ran each through a plagiarism checker, several in fact, and they all came back 100% genuine. That's before I did anything to them. I didn't use them in my stories but tweaked, rewrote, and made it work for me. Tip: if you only use a couple sentences, it may not give you the results you want. However, if you use a couple of paragraphs, it'll pick up your tone and the idea of the story and create it for you. It's pretty neat! 😀
One tenant of journalism I learned is… Simple words, Simple Sentences, Simple Paragraphs. Go through each individual word chatgbt puts out and replace each word with a simpler word option. Next simplify each sentence. Lastly, simplify each paragraph. Just doing that alone will make a HUGE difference in making the content both more original and more accessible for the reader.
I write what i want the chapter to entail, ask it to write the general premise of the chapter in bullet points including: Setting and Context, Opening Hooks, Main Plot Points, Closing Scene, and Foreshadowing. And then use these bullet points to craft my own chapters with my own writing
I can't tell you how much I appreciate this video. Demographic designer but just getting started with KDP and seriously have spent about 6 months at this point just getting to read contracts and know exactly what's legal and what's not legal. I'm playing around with AI but I would never use the words or the images without serious changes. I watched a video of that somebody did that was called you know how to use Ai and publish a book in 60 minutes. She literally put in like "a rabbit goes to the woods" and then AI generated a whole thing. She went to Canva and copy and pasted it. Didn't even read it! Then she went to an image AI thing and said "fox in the woods" or whatever. She took every image that came up and downloaded and pasted it into canva. No one style no nothing. One of the pages was divided into quarters and each of those quarters contained an image that she had created in AI that had a fox in the woods and had nothing to do with each other. When back and created an image that was fox in the woods threw it on the cover asked AI what the title it and that was that. She showed it and it was a horrible nightmare. But she ended her video with you can do that now go publish it and make a million dollars. And of course thousands of comments of thank you very much, thank you very much... She never checked it for plagiarism she didn't check it for anything. But of course it's not on Amazon that she's making her living it's on RUclips. What's the other thing is you can upload whatever you want but it doesn't mean anybody's going to buy it. If you have no five stars and you have three ones and they say doesn't make sense, people actually think that the next person will but it? KDP is really culturally self governed. If four people hate your book, and nobody loves it, are the three five-star ratings I'll use the exact same words, nobody else is going to buy it. Period. Done. But meanwhile all this horrible Ai text and AI generated images that are just awful (6 fingers on one hand) is clutter and noise on KDP for the people who are doing it the right way. I appreciated your video thank you very much. Starting to wonder if too often AI is writing RUclipss. As a magazine layout person and graphic designer as well as 24 year adobe user, I cringe! Thanks for not telling everybody it's so simple to become a millionaire.
I think you’re tutorial was super great! It’s good advice to say don’t let ChatGPT replace your writing but to use it as a tool. It does come up with some good workable content for that “writer’s block". I would love to see a tutorial from you that goes into how to publish books with KDP without buying something and what tips and tricks you may have. I found it pretty difficult to understand the publishing part and creating the covers without buying some other publishing tool to help. Can’t wait to see your next vid! ❤
The outline feature of PaperGen has been incredibly beneficial for me. It organizes my thoughts in a clear and logical manner, which enhances the overall flow of my writing. I now spend much less time feeling stuck in front of a blank page and can focus more on actually writing. It feels like having a dedicated writing assistant that takes care of the structural work for me.
You are such a good communicator. It bugs me when people somehow edit out all natural breathing spaces and it makes it hard to listen to. I get so much out of your talks and don't need to pause for comprehension. Masterful!
I‘m so pumped about your generosity of sharing your knowledge Sean, it shows how great of a spirit you are. Thank you so much, you‘re helping a great deal. Best wishes from Germany. Marcell
I think chat is brilliant for ideas and understanding your audience. Would you make a video on how to use midjourna correctly and safely for kdp purposes? How to create coloring pages or illustrations for books or covers?

With markets tumbling, inflation soaring, the Fed imposing large interest-rate hike, while treasury yields are rising rapidly-which means more red ink for portfolios this quarter. As Yuval Eric Brokman is a highly sought-after counsel, he is actually the one who directs me. Nonetheless, you can try your luck. Just leaving his phone number would not be appropriate. he may be lying about, but if you Google his name, you can view his website.
Hey there! Just watched the vid and gotta say, it's an absolute gem! The guy nailed it with the step-by-step breakdown of writing a book using ChatGPT. Loved how he pointed out those sneaky mistakes we all tend to overlook. Seriously, it's like a hidden treasure of writer's wisdom! The best part? The dude made it super fun and engaging. I was hooked from start to finish! This video is hands down the best thing I've seen on the subject. Major props to the creator for sharing such valuable tips in such an accessible and entertaining way.
When I know what should happen but I can't find the inspiration to get the chapter on paper I will show it my previous chapter, then ask to "write the following scene in my style:" and i'll describe what needs to happen and boom. I can move on to the chapter that I AM inspired for. It works like magic to get beyond the scenes you are otherwise stuck on for who knows who long (we all know this can be hours to years) (you can also tell in general lines what you want to happen or where it should move towards and then ask it to write you a bulletpoint outline (and make it more interesting, for example) if you are stuck on HOW to get to the next point) 😊
Thank you so much! I totally want to “ keep” my voice as a writer. But time for generating the “ supplements” is exciting to keep the process going. I’m a sub and like your post- ty for no dramatic effects for a learning platform.: Just pointers , perfect.
As a writer, it is so interesting to see how others might use ChatGPT. I like how you've structured this video & your insights into book production, especially around how you can improve the quality of content. Thanks!
I would disagree. I use chatGPT to write my stories all the time (I don’t write it), while I give it the direction and ideas on where to take the story and it comes out great
Bought Grammarly Premium and did exactly as you suggested (several times) and EVERY time AI was detected as 100%! Only difference now to before watching your vid is I have Grammarly Premium 🤷🏼♂
I found your video useful & informative. Also purchased KDSPY plus another product from Publishing Altitude using your link. Next I'm going to use the Spanish translation link soon. Thanks.
I made it to the end and it was a nice one but need to go through it over and over again for a better understanding. Thank you so much Jane from Uganda
I'm sure other writers have noticec but ChatGPT doesnt really write very unique or interesting stories. However, It is amazing at helping you overcome writers block and continue writing.
I took a section that I hand wrote for my novel, and ran it through the detection software, and it claimed that it was 90% AI...so... I don't think that site works so well. Just say'n...
Thanks. Great video.. and good comments also. Just one minor detail: you missed talking about Fact Check in step 2. How you do it, and what tools you use?
This is my first time enjoying your RUclips channel. Great content! Looking forward to hearing more from you! Your video was so informative. Thank you so much!
Thank you Sean for all the help you are giving us out here in struggling land to get our publishing biz's up and running. You are one of a kind and a wonderful soul for doing what you do. I appreciate you and will continue to follow you until I can't any more. Mike G.
Quillbot, Gramarly, Word ai, - they get detected to. You really have to do the work yourself because these things get detected. Why? Because these tools are also powered by ai, so there is inherent bias to them which trickles down to someone tapping into api's and figuring this out. Already happening at universities, and getting more difficult. :) FUN.
Exactly. While I really appreciate Sean's videos and his advice, it is nonetheless true that AI is evolving by the minute, so it's quite impossible to rely on AI-generated content to write a book and avoid being banned or flagged at the same time. As you say, we have to rewrite the whole thing ourselves, even if it's tedious. The good thing is that GPT can be used as an ideas generator, but that's all. At least we can come out with unique, original content that can pass the test of Originality.
I remember a writer giving advice that it’s ok to write drunk or high as long as you edit sober. You have to make the text make sense when you’re at your most sensible. I’m thinking at this point writing with AI is probably similar. Generates text may be useful but it should still be considered a rough draft. You still have to make sure you have a quality document at the end. The generated text may look superficially ok like cool looking generated images. But before publishing images you want to take a close look and make sure the person doesn’t have branching fingers or two upper lips. Generated text can produce similar kinds of errors but they may be harder to spot if you’re generating text outside your knowledge area. So special care should be taken.
Yeah, just new to Leonardo AI, and for lack of an idea I said show me NY Giants WR scoring TD. I got a guy running down the field and the ball mysteriously floating next to home, another one he going up for the ball and I swear his left leg is coming directly out his butt! and another just gave me a running football player in a uniform, not NY Giants-like. The last one that I keep was decent, but the defender had 3 legs chasing the guy! Ran out of MidJourney credit. I was lucky because if you got premium ChatGPT you can through joining Leonardo quickly, I was approved the next day. That's pretty when you take into account everybody not wanting to pay MidJourney prices and looking for the best alternative. I got a lot to learn using Leonardo AI, I have to learn how to prompt correctly to get the right picture, which is not easy to do, the two lips you mentioned. I had a little fun I like Leonardo AI
Another problem is that if you do not rewrite the text yourself, you have ZERO legal claim to copyright. AI software cannot own a copyright, but neither can you claim its work as your own. (Heads up: Claiming to have written something you didn't is called "plagiarism," whether a machine wrote it or not, and it's still unethical regardless of what you call it.) And yes, at this point, AI is not a great writer and needs a LOT of help.
Could you please do a video on how to convert a book you've written in word doc to perfectly fit and formatted perfectly for Amazon kindle Ebooks? I've got my content but now idea how to format it / anything like that for the final step before publishing!
What I like about chatgpt is that it writes better than me. I bought a couple of books to research more about this AI tool and they have been helpful. On the other hand, I work with literary resources to give a better meaning or embellish the idea or concept I want to express, for example, hyperbole, simile, personification, hyperbaton, etc etc. What I had not included in my repertoire is Grammarly, I have the free version, but I must upgrade.
A big point to ponder is that technically QuillBot paraphrased content is also an AI produced content. How come it can't be detected by the AI detectors?
it will still be detected he is lying that it wont be it'll still show up as 99 percent AI i already tested this and i got emails from the creators of these tools specifically saying due to youtubers lying they are working harder to make sure these methods do not work
@@matthewjuarbe5826 Yeah, I wasn't lying. It's just that when I filmed this video 2 months ago this method worked. Originality made an update to now detect this method since then which is good. I got a new video coming up with an updated method
@@matthewjuarbe5826 he just doesn't know. So it's not a lie to him. Alas. The last thing I would ran my content though is Grammarly though. It makes things worse. Originality has its place. I typically sample though a few detectors. You do want to watch the "name brand" ones as they are the ones likely to be doing partnerships with larger companies.
Hey, I just wanted to tell u I thought this was one of the better videos for this subject that I've seen. I'm a writer with a massive mental block and usually wouldn't think to use chatgpt. I'd always been able to just put my hands on the keyboard and create a world with almost no effort at all. It was like I just could see into another dimension and all my characters were real people to me, I still feel that way. I had always been sick, in fact I couldn't go to school, thankfully I always loved learning and so I sought out and consumed information. Im autodidactic, self taught on everything, but folks always think I went to college. I dunno if that says more about me or the education system, lol. In my mid 20's I became even more ill, and slipped into a coma. Septic shock. I should NOT have survived medically, and last year I survived my 3rd septic shock coma. Not fun. 2 steps forward, 3 steps back. Anyhow, it's been hard to recapture that ease with which I used to write. I keep trying to find something that will help me find that place where u create like breathing, without must thought, and ease. U never come out of a coma the same way u went into it. U see the world differently, I also had NDEs each time so in some ways I've gained. So I have am 42 now and disabled, I was always a novelist but I've recently wanted to write a workbook on self advocacy for adults and kids. I don't usually wanna use AI for creative writing but since I am always looking for ways to help me with this mental BLOCK ur video caught my attention. It's the first video on the topic that wasn't about avoiding writing that I've seen. I don't wanna avoid it, I wanna get back to it! I would love to be able to make even a little money, as it is my brother is my caregiver and I survive on so little. Disability is about 800 bucks a month and trust me NO ONE disabled wants to be. Welfare isn't a prize. U can't even survive on that without housing aid... I'd be happy if I made nothing on it, if the advocacy workbooks help someone. Especially the one on how to advocate for a child. I know so much about the topic because of my personal experiences. Anyhow, I'll take a look at ur other videos. Writing is my passion, it sucks knowing what u can do but not being able to make it happen. Blessings and Peace
Hey man, I had no idea this was possible, a friend came to me talking about using AI to help him create a D&D campaing (yeah, we are nerds) and it dawned on me that maybe I could use it to try to write a full novel. I'm really glad you said all the things I was thinking about, the AI is not supposed to do the work for me, only help me. I started yesterday and I already feel the joy of writting coming back to me, I hope it works, after so many failed attemps of writting on my own, having a buddy to help me sounds awesome. Liked and subbed, great content! PS: Algum brasileiro conhece sites ou apps que tenham essas mesmas funções desses que ele listou no video, mas para o Português?
This is an amazing and real video. It is awesome and full of very useful content. I've been publishing for years and I've just started with chatgpt. You probably saved my Amazon account. Thanks!
Very happy to find you on youtube. When it comes to writing on ChatGPT, nobody really discusses the "About the Author" page. Should we include such a page in our book? If we do, how should we introduce ourselves? We don't have an educational background directly related to many of the books we plan to publish in the future.
@Serai3 I don't get your where your anger??? is coming from. People get ideas of what they would like a novel to be about. However, they can't write the story for personal reasons that they don't find imperative, to tell. So, they hire a ghost writer to turn the Ideas of each and every chapter into descriptive words/sentences. The same thing Chat gpt does... just for free.
I am a professional editor who has worked both in traditional publishing and freelance. Traditionally, for a fiction novel, you get a little blurb on the back of the book/on the inside back book sleeve about yourself, which should be shorter than the book plot summary blurb. A few SHORT sentences is a good limit for that. For non-fiction, IF your bio is relevant to the subject, work up the same short "back of the book" bio, and another for inside the book as an actual page of text. That should also be short-- no more than about 2/3 of the page. Have a few pro editors look it over to give you feedback (on content, as well as spelling). For your bio, just like your book summary blurb, you want it to be VERY refined and perfected. You need it to be able to SELL yourself, so pay a few humans $40-$50 (USD) each to see how it sounds to human ears.
@@Emma19 Wow, you must be scared of everybody if you thought I was angry. I was just asking the logical question. If a book is "written" by AI, then it isn't written by a PERSON. Thus it's a good idea to tell people that, especially given how utterly crappy AI writing is. I'd be pissed if I bought a book thinking a real person was behind it and all I got was a garbled mess put together by a robot.
I guess asking ChatGPT to give you bullet points and then you can write the content from there, particularly for a non-fiction book. Grammarly is good to use alongside too.
Yeah. But as someone that has several blogs and only one book right now, none of the content comes up as AI generated across multiple AI detectors. It's really about how you prompt it to make sure it is undistinguishable from human writing.
@@nicolasdifabulous figure out what makes Human writing distinguishable from AI writing and prompt accountingly. If you need to get past a detector, figure out what parameters it's using to categorize the text as AI vs as a human, and reverse engineer the prompts to give you content that would make the detector think the writing is human. Realistically, i do that AFTER, i got a working draft of the book written. Then, I make it human.
I had just asked Siri to look up how to use ChatGBT and a moment later I got your notification about this brand new video from you. Thanks again for putting out these great freebies!!!!!
Amazon KDP's policies and guidelines do not specifically mention AI-generated content, and there have been no issued statements prohibiting or permitting its use on the platform.
Just because there was no official statement about it doesn’t mean there won’t be in the future, and publishing books before the official statement does not make it safe
is there a free plagiarism checker that takes files bigger than 5MB? its ridiculous how everything is behind a paywall it is beyond frustrating trying to start
I gave it a basic outline and plot points and Got a rough draft. I copied the rough draft highlighted edits I wanted and sent it to a human editor because I think humans still need to be involved. My book will end up better in the long run
Hey Sean thanks for this informative video. Would you mind share the chrome extention name that show daily sale amount and daily royalty that will really help to find better niche to create book.
I haven’t used Chatgpt in a long time bc last time I used it it literally didn’t generate anything new, just reworded what I asked it. That can be helpful sometimes for idea but I hope this works and it helps me come up with some ideas😭
Love the content. I did try some of the tricks you suggested and even then, the content is labeled as 100% AI generated. It’s not even list format but paragraph formats. I even went in to rewrite the entire sentence by combining the concepts of sentences together and Originality is still saying it’s AI content. Don’t know if that’s just how good I am or how sensitive the detection is,….. lol
This just popped up on my feed! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. They match up to how I will use chatGpt. I’m a traditional writer and just started with Ai this week. I wonder if you’re using KDP extension or book beam to display royalties on searches. 🤔
The paragraph I wrote was 86% generated apparently. 😂 is this a compliment or an insult? Thank you for this tutorial and the pointers. Grammarly has become a savior and helped fully round out my thoughts I was trying to convey.

Just curious about the financial aspect of writing. How much money do you make from your books, more or less?
Interesting point, thanks much!
Thank you for sharing this info.

One tenant of journalism I learned is… Simple words, Simple Sentences, Simple Paragraphs. Go through each individual word chatgbt puts out and replace each word with a simpler word option. Next simplify each sentence. Lastly, simplify each paragraph. Just doing that alone will make a HUGE difference in making the content both more original and more accessible for the reader.
tenet
That might work well for journalism but probably not true for fiction stories?
@@a866903 Well, Hemingway's whole schtick was to make fiction writing a lot more like journalism writing, so there's that
Thanks.
Great Idea, Thanks !!!

Yes, AI is being used to write YT scripts and everything else under the sun.
They used to say “garbage in garbage out”. Now with AI one can get garbage out without anything in….
When I know what should happen but I can't find the inspiration to get the chapter on paper I will show it my previous chapter, then ask to "write the following scene in my style:" and i'll describe what needs to happen and boom. I can move on to the chapter that I AM inspired for. It works like magic to get beyond the scenes you are otherwise stuck on for who knows who long (we all know this can be hours to years)
(you can also tell in general lines what you want to happen or where it should move towards and then ask it to write you a bulletpoint outline (and make it more interesting, for example) if you are stuck on HOW to get to the next point) 😊

You’re amazingly brilliant 🙏🙏🙏✨
(Heads up: Claiming to have written something you didn't is called "plagiarism," whether a machine wrote it or not, and it's still unethical regardless of what you call it.)
And yes, at this point, AI is not a great writer and needs a LOT of help.
"Write drunk. Edit sober." - Ernest Hemingway 🙂
Could you please do a video on how to convert a book you've written in word doc to perfectly fit and formatted perfectly for Amazon kindle Ebooks? I've got my content but now idea how to format it / anything like that for the final step before publishing!
Did you ever figure it out or find a tutorial? Im having the same issue

Like I've been telling people no one will ever know that you used ChatGPT. Lol. Good luck Amazon trying to find out.
I did same I tried chat gpt for a story to see then paraphrase it and still said 100% or ai refined even after paraphrasing

Oh, you mean you're asking if you should tell people you didn't actually write the book? Yeah, I think maybe you should do that.
@@Emma19clever point
Step 2: in other words, 'AI' should stand for 'Augmented Intelligence', not 'Artificial Intelligence'.
Augmented “I”.
Thank you for the detailed information
I guess asking ChatGPT to give you bullet points and then you can write the content from there, particularly for a non-fiction book. Grammarly is good to use alongside too.
Yeah. But as someone that has several blogs and only one book right now, none of the content comes up as AI generated across multiple AI detectors. It's really about how you prompt it to make sure it is undistinguishable from human writing.
Great approach Victoria. How do you suggest prompting it?
This method used to work but is getting less effective as Originality improves its accuracy
I always used multiple detectors. Contentatscale, for example. Is better than originality.

Love the content. I did try some of the tricks you suggested and even then, the content is labeled as 100% AI generated. It’s not even list format but paragraph formats. I even went in to rewrite the entire sentence by combining the concepts of sentences together and Originality is still saying it’s AI content. Don’t know if that’s just how good I am or how sensitive the detection is,….. lol
