I DID IT!!! OMG THANK YOU. I TRIED TO DO THIS ON MY OWN AND HAD ABSOLUTELY NO SUCCESS. I WATCHED THIS TUTORIAL AND I NOW HAVE A BEAUTIFUL BOOK COVER. THANK YOU.
I just wanted to take a moment to extend my gratitude towards you for creating this video. It was not only informative, but it was also delivered in a concise and straightforward manner. Your ability to present the information in an organized and easy-to-understand way made it incredibly helpful for me. I appreciate the time and effort you put into making these videos, keep up the great work! 😘🎉🍻
You're very welcome, Carolina! You just made my day! I totally appreciate your kind words and support. Comments like yours (and everyone else's here) are what keeps me wanting to share and create more useful and informative videos. Thank you so much!!! ♥♥♥
You are amazing. I spent endless hours trying to figure out how to fix the cover error and just as I decided to give up I found your video. It WORKED perfectly. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
Your video is very very helpful. Thank you so much. I have already created my Cover design plus manuscript page, but couldn't work out as a Canva and KDP Newbie how to get my design across to KDP. Now I know where to start this process. I will give it a go. Thank you once again.
Hello Grace Mace, Glad it was helpful! And I'm happy for you. :) You can also check out my FB group here facebook.com/groups/KDPublishing/ any problems or help you might need, you can ask there. :) Keep on designing and uploading to KDP. No excuses!! LOL
This was probably the most helpful video out there! Really well-made and clear! I see a lot of contributors using book bolt - i tired using it and its super unintuitive plus it costs money which is discouraging when you're just trying to start new side income.... I've using canva a lot in general for other project and I love it so this was super helpful!
Thank you! Glad it helped in your kdp journey.😊 Please do check out my other videos on planner and journal ideas.😊 maybe you can find one if you ever get stuck.😊 And if you want ready to upload interiors, you can visit www.payhip.com/publishinaday 😊
wow... I'm blessed to watch this... really I'm so happy. i was wondering and worried about how to create a book cover so that I'd have to contact any graphic designer and all. and that would've cost me even more money. thank you so much for this beautiful thing. 💜💜 🥰
Glad it was helpful! Thank you too. I have a tutorial on how to create KDP covers using other tools as well: Photoshop: ruclips.net/video/lF-Jf4n3pF0/видео.html And Affinity: ruclips.net/video/uQIx4-h_nG0/видео.html Bookbolt: ruclips.net/video/mHSb2w8Ietc/видео.html So you're not just stuck on Canva. :)
Absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much! I have been self-publishing for four years now and stopped using a cover designer and bought myself photoshop elements recently to save money. Even with that software, using Canva, too, makes things so easy! Your tutorial is wonderful! Very easy to follow, too. Thank you!
@@travelingdesigner I am really still struggling , the cover keeps getting rejected for margin errors, I have tried several different attempts, and still no success, I will appreciate any help on this. Thank You.
I'm teaching myself cover design and this was a super helpful video as I was so stumped on how to create the paperback cover with the correct spine measurements. Thank you so much for this!
This was so very helpful. Thank you. I've been designing ebook covers but now I know how to do my full covers. I'm in the game. I'm grateful. Many blessings to you and much success!
Glad it was helpful! And thank you as well. :) I really appreciate your comment and time to watch my video. Same to you - more blessings and only success ahead!! :)
You're very welcome, @JeromeDelacroix! I agree, it's easy to create covers in Canva. So many options. :) Thank you for the comment, I appreciate it a lot.
I watched this video to learn how to make a Canva journal and upload it to amazon KDP. I am brand new to this and this video assumed I already knew a lot. I will keep looking to find one that if for complete newbies.
I'm so glad I could help! It sounds like you were really stuck, and I'm happy that I could explain things clearly in a short amount of time. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions in the future!
Wow, thank you so much for simplifying this process for me! This has been the biggest challenge so far for me. But, I am a newbie at KDP. Thanks so much again!
Thank you very much. It is not rocket science, but if you haven't done it before then IT IS rocket science. I had the template, just didn't know what to do with it. Great step by step instructions
This is SO helpful! I'm am author and was looking for a way to customize my book cover. Thanks so much for making this video. It's clear and concise! Much appreciated 🥰
Please could you do a trouble shooting video as I had the same issue at the start with the PNG file and only after reading the comments was I able to resolve that, looking further down I can see there are also sizing problems with the finished product - no problem if you are not new to this but as a beginner it's already alot to comprehend if you have not done this before. Thank you for your help so far.
I wanted to do a 6x9 with 35 pages. The dimensions were 7400x5550 pixels as per the details. Canva said it was over their limit, but once I added it by inches, it took it. Thank you for the video.
How do this one look when printed? You can fold it in half right? Then, do you need extra trimming? And how would I get the right size I want when it's printed let's say A5 size? I'm sorry for all of these questions I'm just really new to this. Thanks for the video btw! Really helpful!!
Hi Alona. :) No worries and good job on starting.:) This is specifically for KDP low content book publishing. If you want to print this at home, yes, you can fold it in half. You don't need extra trimming since we're using KDP's template and everything is laid out on their template (bleed, margins, etc). I believed I have explained in the video about what template size to download. :)
Really helpful thanks Jet Sky. One point- to the newby (me) it appears that you are actually editing the kdp template on canva when you are actually inserting text on top of the template and then deleting the template. Also not clear how you created the background and am still working on that. But this saved me a lot of time. Thanks so much. Jon
Hello Jon, Thank you for the comment and you're welcome. :) No, I'm not editing the template. It's just a guide so you'll know where to put things exactly - so you don't go out of the margins. :) The background can be created in so many ways in Canva. You can upload your own or use Canva's background or any other elements. :)
Great video, thank you for sharing! I finally found what I was looking for when I watched this. I have watched many of these types of videos and they are not as helpful or straightforward as yours. You were also the first one to show how you actually get to the KDP cover template. Bonus, you only used KDP and Canva, all free options, this is a win!
I find that my 8 x 5 PNG cover template does not line up with the page size you input and shown in the video. Changed the PNG to a JPEG and it is still the same. Both appear too small and when stretched the template edges breech the boundaries of a 3143px x 2475px
Thank you for this video! It helped me realize I didn't do the scaling/resize step in Canva that you did at 3:12! ^^ That helped a lot, thank you again
I got this generic message and didn't understand. Resize the background or image on your cover so that it extends 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. All covers must be sized for bleed, which means you need to add an extra 0.125" (3.2 mm) along the top, bottom, and sides of your cover file. Once you have increased the size of your cover, extend any images or backgrounds that you want to reach all the way to the edge of the page 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. This prevents manufacturing issues when the cover is trimmed to size
Any background images you have needs to go beyond the trim line. But as long as you download the right template for you from the KDP site, it should be ok. Make sure you use pixels and not inches when creating a new document in Canva. 😀
A brilliant video, far less complicated than anything else I can find while still giving the necessary info. I didn't compress the file first and Canva reduced it from 6850 x 4950 px to 5050 x 3649 px for working. How do I increase it for downloading please?
Personally, I would enter the right size from the beginning to avoid this. I think if you have a pro account you can resize it before downloading. Otherwise, you have to download it and use other apps/software to resize it.
🔴 If your file is too big for Canva, try compressing it first. You can use free sites like smallpdf.com, freepdfconvert.com, sodapdf.com or ilovepdf.com
Can I use ipad in this process? I can’t download cover template from ipad? Pls help
or just reduce the pixels after opening it in paint
Apologies. Since I don't use Ipad, I can't know for sure.
just save it as a JPG
JPG compression reduced the template from 50 MB to 900KB
