I absolutely love Hades' design. The furnace-like helmet covering his face, the huge black spikes protruding from all over his back, his massive and stocky frame, the leathery and mangled skin with deep cuts and bruises all over. You can tell he's lived a very long life and has been through hell (both figuratively and literally). Everything about him screams ruler of the Underworld. Plus, I like how his weapons are twin hooks that can steal someone's soul. I wonder if the process is painful or if it's just an instant death.
I'm personally not a big fan of it for a few reasons, the biggest one being that this design just seems like a Satan analogue. The underworld in Greek mythology truly was a peaceful place for most, bar the few twisted ones that end up in tartarus. Plus he was one of the few gods that was genuinely a good guy, a caring husband, didn't mettle in the affairs of mortals for entertainment and was (especially in comparison to zues) kind and loyal. He’s pretty fucked actually. In Chains of Olympus, Persephone’s marriage seems to be one where she was forced/kidnapped and decided she’d rather end all of existence rather than continue her marriage to Hades. Plus, in a prequel comic, Hades participated in a contest among mortals and inflicted a disease onto the Barbarian King’s father. The same guy who had Kratos begging for Ares to save him in GOW 1.
@@howdoichangemyusername9802 I remember that comic, yeah the Barbarian King Alrik was Hades champion, and Hades did actually give him aid on his quest if I remember right but obviously he was super salty about losing that he just let Alrik's father die. I always wondered how Kratos could resist his soul being pulled out, but the titans and Hades couldn't resist. My best guess would be that his pure anger isn't allowing his soul to leave his body.
His powers of a god would have to be the reason. Considering what the person above said about Atlas, maybe one must be on the same power level of Hades to resist his astral attacks
One of the greatest boss fights of all time. Starts with a distance fight, then super up close to u stabbing him, to repeatedly slamming him against a roof, to popping his mask off and stealing his soul, thus reducing probably the MOST intimidating of all the gods (aside from Ares and Posiedon) to nothing but a corpse at the bottom of the river...all in realtime...with seamless cut scenes, and no load times...

Quick question: I don't play video games anymore but I love watching them. What happens when all of those chains hit the ground, if you get caught in them?
Whenever I read about Hades in Greek mythology, this is what I pictured he’d sound like. Menacing but with a twisted sense of humor. Wrathful but not acting completely out of malice. Confident but honorable at the same time. Clancy Brown did a great job with his voice. As well as a great design and an amazing boss fight

@@陈凯文-n1h Kratos biggest power is plot armour 😂 Why should Hades even waste his time … He could sit at the other end of the river and Kratos won’t even be able to cross it.
Man, while I do love the more cinematic and restrained approach to the new games' musical scores, the tonal brutality in the older games' soundtracks will still always be the core signifier of Kratos for me.
It's 2022 and Graphic still holds the flag, WOW this game still gives me super goosebumps I remember the only reason to sell my XBOX 360 and buy ps3 was this masterpiece!
Out of all of the original God of War games, this is one of my favorite bosses solely because Hades uses chain weapons just like Kratos. It feels like two warriors from rival schools dueling to prove the prowess of their similar but unique fighting styles. Kratos relies on his agility and speed to control his Blades, his form almost like a dance, while Hades uses brute strength and the weight of his Claws to tear through the environment and dismember his enemies with sheer force.
What I kinda love about Hades' design in this game is how even though it plays into the "devil" misconception, it also subverts it by making a weird amount of sense. Keep in mind, Hades is the eldest child of Cronos, meaning that he was swallowed first and spent the longest time being exposed to his stomach acids. So it makes sense that, by the time Zeus frees him, he would come out *irreversably facked up* His skin permanently red & swollen from the burns , his face mangled and him just generally being in constant pain to the point that its normal for him. Possibly causing him to develop a high pain tolerance and masochistic tendencies as a result.
GOW Hades has the typical hellish demonic aesthetic, but him going after Kratos for his OWN revenge reflects his neutral Personality in the actual mythology....Best of both worlds
8:55 meanwhile, somewhere in the room. Panic: He’s not gonna be happy when he gets out of there! Pain: You mean… IF he gets out of there. Panic: If… if is good.
This show how important resolution actually is, like, this game looks soo gorgeous in high res while in ps3 720p made it age much more than it actually is
Except this isn't in 4k. The game never received any kind of patch for that. It still runs in 1080p60, exactly the same as it did on the PS4. While that's better than the PS3 version, it's nothing astounding. You can even see aliasing in places in this video.
To this day, Hades' AOE chain attack is still my absolute favorite move of any boss in the franchise. The sound effects and visuals really made it memorable.
I loved Hades' fight in this game, even more so than his brothers' individual fights. Poseidon tried to face Kratos behind a monument to his power, a shell of water, electricity, and rock. And the moment he was taken out of it, he crumbled like a sack of cards. Zeus was a nearly non-stop slogfest between two powers of equal might, each trying to outlast the other in a war of sheer attrition and escalating displays of carnage. But Hades? Hades was a mountain of meat. No tricks, no nonsense. Just up-front, no-holds-barred raw physical might and durability. No matter how much Kratos battered him, impaled him, or carved giant bloody chunks out of him, Hades adamantly refuses to stay down. Every time he suffered an injury that should have crippled him, he only got bigger and nastier instead. It took Kratos using his own weapons to rip his soul out to keep Hades down for good. Had he not, I don't know what ungodly level of strength it would've taken to kill him. Badass.
0:43 - 0:48 in case Hades missed it, Persephone hated him. She released Atlas from the chains of Tartarus, and set him loose on the world pillar. She tried to destroy the gods. Kratos had to kill her to save the world, and in doing so condemned the four armed Titan to a fate worse than death than being chained up. Cursed to forever hold the world on his shoulders. In my opinion Hades doesn’t get to bitch about that.
@@Exodus-sh5mq he never loved her. He kidnapped her and force her to marry him. She wasn’t his wife, she was his prisoner. His personal slave. That is not love. Hades is a jackass just like Ares.
Considering the soul is in the blades, and Hades' body isn't damage completely beyond healing, he has a slight chance to be revived. My guy deserves it
@@samrowell2418 I like the new, way more mature Kratos, but for me God of War was always about the mad emotional fighting spirit like the Berserker Kratos is. If you look at this from a different viewpoint, Kratos has mastered himself in the new game, which is probably way harder and a stronger will than just raging and killing everything that is even barely alive. So in one way, he made the journey that every man needs to do at one point in his life, but like I said, I want a brutal GoW.
Just beat this fight for the first time last night. The only words I can think of to describe it are "buttery smooth and fun as hell". I'll probably be gushing about this for the next few days.
No it was just one of hades helms, a far inferior one, the helm hades is currently wearing is basically kamui. When in effect he turns invisible and intangible, neither can hit the other while hades is like this, or it could be whenever hades enters a shadow this effect takes place (which is why he appears out of no where when u fight him even though he wasn't anywhere in the room) of course hades has his hax though so he can still attack your soul, and or steal it while invisible/intangible. The only reason I'd say he didn't do this during the actual fight would be, A) once the fight starts there's too much light and he does have to enter a shadow) or B) he can do it rather he's in a shadow or not but doesn't because he wants a fair one on one, no tricks or gimmicks, Mano e Mano, whose the real man here fight vs kratos. Which would make him even more epic

I like how the claws have its own mind and that it moves itself during that one combo

Why should Hades even waste his time …
He could sit at the other end of the river and Kratos won’t even be able to cross it.
Man, while I do love the more cinematic and restrained approach to the new games' musical scores, the tonal brutality in the older games' soundtracks will still always be the core signifier of Kratos for me.
More cinematic? How is this not cinematic?
@@leonpaelinck "More" doesn't mean this isn't cinematic at all. 3 could be a 7/10 level of cinematic and Ragnarok be a 9/10.

I feel bad for Hades here, he watched his family get brutally killed by Kratos
The line "I will see you suffer as I have suffered" hits different
For me, the best boss fight in level design, the atmosphere and the Hades design himself, its scary and amazing!
He is not playing in chaos mode, Hades would have killed him with two or three hits
I think he's playing in Spartan Mode.
But title doesent say "Chaos Mode"
And every video doesent have to show every players should play on chaos mode
To be honest ,what do u call chaos mode more than taking revenge for ur niece, brother and wife's death all together
Nobody said he was playing in chaos mode
yes the person playing is amateur
It's 2022 and Graphic still holds the flag, WOW this game still gives me super goosebumps I remember the only reason to sell my XBOX 360 and buy ps3 was this masterpiece!
The weapons of HADES are beautiful in the game I longed to have them, those chains that it has are very beautiful !!! incredible those double hooks
I agree, and the tug of war with the chains was a nice touch
What I kinda love about Hades' design in this game is how even though it plays into the "devil" misconception, it also subverts it by making a weird amount of sense.
Keep in mind, Hades is the eldest child of Cronos, meaning that he was swallowed first and spent the longest time being exposed to his stomach acids.
So it makes sense that, by the time Zeus frees him, he would come out *irreversably facked up*
His skin permanently red & swollen from the burns , his face mangled and him just generally being in constant pain to the point that its normal for him. Possibly causing him to develop a high pain tolerance and masochistic tendencies as a result.
I will never get tired of this battle between these 2.
8:52 Kratos pulls the most devious lick of all time
GOW Hades has the typical hellish demonic aesthetic, but him going after Kratos for his OWN revenge reflects his neutral Personality in the actual mythology....Best of both worlds
4:48 goosebumps
I like how in 5:33 he’s now just playing tug a war with hades
I love the stance he takes and the look he gives after beating the white out of the lord of the underworld at 9:18

Ps5 doesn't do nothing ps3 had graphics ahead of its time
6:38 is so badass
To this day, Hades' AOE chain attack is still my absolute favorite move of any boss in the franchise. The sound effects and visuals really made it memorable.
This is literally my favorite boss fight of any game ever.
Second best ❤ for me.
Badass.
He got owned by kratos like the others
Clancy Brown made an outstanding performance. He truly sounds like Hades, with a bit of Mr. Krabs. And both correlate.
6:29 kratos: oh ceiling
imagine beating a lord like that
0:54 Hades: Your soul is MINE!
Shang Tsung: HEY! DON'T STEAL MY LINE!!
🎉
0:43 - 0:48 in case Hades missed it, Persephone hated him. She released Atlas from the chains of Tartarus, and set him loose on the world pillar. She tried to destroy the gods. Kratos had to kill her to save the world, and in doing so condemned the four armed Titan to a fate worse than death than being chained up. Cursed to forever hold the world on his shoulders. In my opinion Hades doesn’t get to bitch about that.
Hades is a simp.
I mean he still loved her...even though she hated them. So in that regard he can still be upset at the fact that kratos took her away from him.
@@Exodus-sh5mq he never loved her. He kidnapped her and force her to marry him. She wasn’t his wife, she was his prisoner. His personal slave. That is not love. Hades is a jackass just like Ares.

I wish they would make an remake of the trilogy. The new one was great, but I like the old Kratos way more
@@samrowell2418 That tired and slow grandfather is going to bust Odin and Thor
True
@@samrowell2418 I like the new, way more mature Kratos, but for me God of War was always about the mad emotional fighting spirit like the Berserker Kratos is. If you look at this from a different viewpoint, Kratos has mastered himself in the new game, which is probably way harder and a stronger will than just raging and killing everything that is even barely alive. So in one way, he made the journey that every man needs to do at one point in his life, but like I said, I want a brutal GoW.

2:50 Moment Epic!
Just beat this fight for the first time last night. The only words I can think of to describe it are "buttery smooth and fun as hell". I'll probably be gushing about this for the next few days.
I love how Hades is trying to avenge Persephone ( and Poseidon and Athena as well I guess ), but she tried to kill him.
Don't forget
The invisibility Helm of Hades was destroyed by Kratos in God of War II after defeat Perseus.
Hades: YOUR SOUL IS MINE.
Shang Tsung: HEY! You STOLE My WORDS
1:07 the best fight
Anyone noticed without his helmet he kinda looks like kronos
I heard he's supposed to be the first born son of Kronos. Maybe it has something to do with that
Okay so Klansy Brown voices Mr Crabs, Undertow from little mermaid 3, Hades from God of War and now he voices Surtur in the MCU, this guy sure loves being the bad guy
The voice actor for Kratos gave such mighty, manly, and fearsome war cries forreal
TC Carson was meant to voice Kratos
This fight played out exactly as I thought it would when I first seen hades before I even did the fight
Hades is my favorite god bro. So badass and better than the others
The best thing about this fight is the motivation behind Hades. He just wants to avenge his family than kill Kratos.
When Hades does that area of affect chain attack thing. Why is there one spot for kratos to hide in? 😂
Not enough chain I'm guessing.
Coz…Kratos is the god of plot armour too.
