A detail nobody realise is that in the Greek mythology Deimoss was the twin of Phobos and they both go along Ares through the battlefield. Deimoss being the god of the terror and Phobos the god of fear, and we all know with what Zeus was corrupted during the saga
Also the scene is almost same, grom sacrifices himself to kill manaroth in order to save thrall and here deimos kinda sacrifices himself to save kratos
holysh*t I never noticed it before but this game was actually like the bridge between classic god of war and current god of war, the final battle at least, comanding deimos to shoot projectiles is just like atreus and the spear in the "arms of sparta" is definitely the same as the spear they make for you in ragnarok
7:55 in this game Kratos was fully a God, which is why he could endure getting crashed by thanatos several times with little to no injury...deimos was still part mortal, being unaware of his godly side, and that made him much more vulnerable, hence why getting crushed just once resulted in his death. often times when it comes to demigods, not being aware of their godly heritage makes them unable to unlock their godly abilities ( like healing factor, immortality, increased power, and various other abilities...)..if he had known that his father was Zeus (their mother told kratos earlier in this game, although having the game been released after gow2 there's still the inconsistency of kratos not knowing that at the beginning of gow 2, even tho it takes place after ghost of sparta), the simple knowledge of being part god would've unlocked his powers ( just like atreus was weaker, until kratos told him that he was a god, making him unlock his powers) and made him strong enough to survive this battle.
Exactly, Kratos says that his strength doesn't come from his muscles, it's the same thing as Baldur who is skinny but has extreme strength, Deimos didn't even know it had a healing factor, I believe this healing comes from the mind
i think it was also that Kratos is more durable to a fault because Deimos spent his childhood on chains and getting tortured. Like yeah he became jacked for no reason but he is not like Kratos who is dishing out damage and taking them with opportunities to heal and recover.
The Reason Kratos calls Atreus BOY so many times is because the developers hadn't decided a name for him Yet And I'm pretty sure Deimos was one of the names they were considering
Old Kratos is capable of MUCH more, so this is why he holds back. He knew he was capable of taking Asgard down by himself but he couldn't intentionally slip back into his anger if he had allies he could fight alongside. I have a feeling Kratos is gonna get angry again in the Egyptian saga, though.
His rage is so beautifully made the developers made this game an absolute masterpiece, this rage literally showed emotion, fear, betrayal, sadness, death, hatred, anger, even unimaginable power no one on earth could possibly possess. Had this kratos been in gow 3 and Ragnarok you get to see 2 pantheons. 2 FUCKING PANTHEONS, ended in just 1 day. This is why out of all other characters, kratos will always be my number one favorite fictional character, and also number one god killing machine out of all time
Agreed. Kratos has the power in him to literally kill entire pantheons of gods, just that in the Norse realms he’s holding back because he’s trying to calm down
8:35 hopefully in any future GOW game/dlc maybe after something happening to Atreus, we'll see THIS level of spartan rage in kratos and the blades getting that intense
Kratos: "By the Gods, what have I become?" The Gravedigger (Zeus): "Death... destroyer of worlds." This quote has me even more excited for Ragnarok's release.
@@raziel6304 The reason why Deimos is destined to die here is because the Sisters of Fate are tampering with the timeline so that everytime Kratos wanted to defy fate, he cannot do so because of them.
@@mustafatheslayer5125 he was capable enough to grapple thanatos sword with him for a time. He's a demigod back when Kratos was simply that he did accomplished quite a bit before the gods gave him boosts and weapons. If he lived Kratos would have to help his brother grow in power so he doesn't die.
Thanatos: "the sisters of fate make it so" Kratos: "then i will slay the sisters of fate and change my fate whatever i want" Thanatos: "wait that's illegal"
If you looked at it logically, it isn't. I mean, the Fates LITERALLY caused everything to happen, so Kratos being born happened because the Fates willed it. If he killed them, he'd be winked out of existence. It's like the Grandfather Paradox, a logical problem if time travel is possible. If you go back in time and kill your grandfather (or at least tamper with the events concerning him), your birth will be impossible, because then he never would have met your grandmother, and they never would have a child who, in turn, created you.
@@flippednormals297thb Thanatos is probably, asthe beginning of gow2 takes place after Ghost of Sparta and the death of Thanatos is probably what drove Zeus to steal Kratos's power first before killing him. It is also worth mentioning that this is also the same kratos with his full godly power that gets taken away by the blade of Olympus and still also has the power of hope as the grave digger is also Zeus seeing Kratos kill someone who's as powerful as Thanatos will make his fear go worse lol, also it's mentioned in the game that the domain of death not even the olympian dare to enter
Fun fact: Thanatos is a primordial, in greek mythology thats even a higher status than a god. Hes a god of gods. In mythology, not even zeus would dare beef with a primordial. Thanatos, behind his mother Nyx and father Erebus, was the most powerful of them. Kratos should NOT have won this fight. But he was so angry and full of hatred that he defeated one of the most poweful deities in greek mythology, Death itself. I mean, it took the combined might of both spartan brothers to take him down. Thanatos is the ONLY god kratos couldn't solo for the whole fight

Its not Gow 4 tho . And you're comparing a Psp game to Ps4 / Ps4 pro , thats more than 10 years of evolution . Gow Ragnarok wont have such a Gap . It will be a bit more impressive , but with 4k/30/ RT
Ghost of Sparta was released in 2010..the same year gow 3 was also released.. there was a huge graphics difference between both games ..coz ghost of sparta was developed at readyatdawn studios exclusively for psp .and gow 3 was developed at santa Monica studio..so you should compare gow4 with gow3.

Probably the second most emotional moment of the OG GOW (The First one, of course, the KTE with Calliope go in Elysium). Kratos was finally able to reunite with the only family he had left. And yet he lost both of them almost in the same day... His rage after this is completely understandable
Kronos: you do realize killing his brother was a major fuckup? Thanatos: First of: I barely touched him, to this day idk how I killed him Also Thanatos: 8:16 LOOOOOL
And it was in this God of war that Kratos became the most angry of all time, seeing that once again he was unable to protect his brother, this was revolting and made him angrier at the gods
No, more like Thanatos subtly hinting that Kratos was literally being played by the gods of Olympus, as they caused the death of his Family (through his servitude to Ares out of pure desperation) and the death of his brother (obviously because of Thanatos). When Athena meets Kratos to complete his transformation into a full god, he snaps at her asking if this was all a game to her and that the gods will pay for toying with Kratos and causing him so much torment and pain. The gods were doing a lil trolling.
athena said " your ties to this world are severed" like ares made kratos kill his family in order for him to not have anything of value for him to reach his full potential of a killer this is Buddhism philosophy, of letting go to reach nirvana Kratos all wanted was to end his past nightmare, in order for that to happen he had to kill his last remaining tie, his brother Kratos still has sparta (note this game was released BEFORE god of war 2,) meaning he would still cause chaos and war with sparta, so he still has ties left
After GoW Ragnarok where Kratos mentioned his brother Deimos few times, I had to look at this video once again. One of the saddest moments in the series. He finally rescued his long lost brother after many years just to loose him while fighting along side him against the god who held him kidnapped in the torment.
no one could die because of thanatos the world grew in chaos When poseidon's physical body Was destroyed Countless people in Greece We're washed upon the waves If not eaten by Hades As some form to keep the balance of the world But when Hades died not even hell was a place to finally rest in piece

often times when it comes to demigods, not being aware of their godly heritage makes them unable to unlock their godly abilities ( like healing factor, immortality, increased power, and various other abilities...)..if he had known that his father was Zeus (their mother told kratos earlier in this game, although having the game been released after gow2 there's still the inconsistency of kratos not knowing that at the beginning of gow 2, even tho it takes place after ghost of sparta), the simple knowledge of being part god would've unlocked his powers ( just like atreus was weaker, until kratos told him that he was a god, making him unlock his powers) and made him strong enough to survive this battle.
It id actually left unclear, given we never her her say it. She could have managed to tell Kratos, or he could have discovered it in GoW2.
So this is what Kratos would look like if he had hair...
Nah. That he is hairless elegant
The Reason Kratos calls Atreus BOY so many times is because the developers hadn't decided a name for him Yet
And I'm pretty sure Deimos was one of the names they were considering
Yeah they considered it but ultimately dropped it because kratos doesn't want to be reminded of his dead brother when he looks at his son so no
The fuck are you talking about lmao that’s not the reason at all. He calls him Boy because he doesn’t know how to act

Kratos: "Is this all a game to you, Athena?"
Athena: "Is that a trick question?"
Yeah
Nope
No, more like Thanatos subtly hinting that Kratos was literally being played by the gods of Olympus, as they caused the death of his Family (through his servitude to Ares out of pure desperation) and the death of his brother (obviously because of Thanatos). When Athena meets Kratos to complete his transformation into a full god, he snaps at her asking if this was all a game to her and that the gods will pay for toying with Kratos and causing him so much torment and pain.
The gods were doing a lil trolling.

Kratos all wanted was to end his past nightmare, in order for that to happen he had to kill his last remaining tie, his brother
Kratos still has sparta (note this game was released BEFORE god of war 2,) meaning he would still cause chaos and war with sparta, so he still has ties left
Kratos got so angry that his blades turned into flaming hot cheetos.
After GoW Ragnarok where Kratos mentioned his brother Deimos few times, I had to look at this video once again. One of the saddest moments in the series. He finally rescued his long lost brother after many years just to loose him while fighting along side him against the god who held him kidnapped in the torment.
