It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better ruclips.net/user/postUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.

This is a great addition to any cabinet. My wife is disabled and can't stoop down to find out what is in the back of the cabinet, so I added these types of rolling shelves to the cabinets when I built her kitchen. Now she just pulls out the drawer and can see everything without wondering what is at the back that she can't see. Just found your channel and I can tell I am going to enjoy looking through your projects and techniques.
You Rock Girl. I hate cabinets that don't have pull-out drawers. Thank you so much for sharing your tips and tricks on how to make this process easier.
I've been trying to talk my daughter into doing this. I'm going to share this video with her. Thanks for an easy upgrade to a kitchen cabinet. Good video.
Great idea and well explained. I would be inclined to put a pullout at the bottom to make the pots more accessible. Somehow I think I am am about to do both of them! Thanks for the demo,
What a great project. If my wife sees this, I will be very busy making them. Do us all a favor and protect your beautiful brown eyes with safety glasses! Especially when shooting nails or staples! It only takes one accident to blind you!
Thank you for this. I have a huge cabinet that needs to have the shelves converted to pull outs. So happy to see this is an option. I've been fighting with this cabinet to find anything for years! so many things don't get used because they're hidden in the back.
We are remodeling our kitchen, and I think this would be perfect for the pantry cabinet. Thank you for the detailed instructions you gave. Always makes it easier when you have a step by step to follow.
Love love love this video! Not everybody has a table saw, router table, or pocket hole jig. Your joining method of wood glue and staples are plenty strong enough for this little drawer and should last for a very long time, especially since you didn't use MDF material as well. Keep up the great work.
@@wstibbs1 And what about people who _aren't_ 'serious woodworkers', Wendy? This channel isn't aimed solely at 'serious woodworkers'. A rather dismissive comment... 😞

This video combined with one of your more recent videos on install the drawer slides before building the drawer + attaching drawer slides to the sides of the drawer itself ahead of building the drawer is blowing my mind right now. I'm so happy I found this channel! I'm looking forward to making my way through a bunch more of the content.
Love it! I'm imagining a pullout organizer for my wife's hairdryer and curler that could fit inside our bathroom cabinets using some metal "cup" inserts to receive the hot items and an integrated power strip. Seen this done? The trouble is we have only door cabinets with the center stile.
The tip is pretty cool and definitely doing this. Easier to install the cab member first, with drawer member inside already. Then pull out drawer member partially to attach the drawer; less margin of error. Also, on the drawer slides, those little tabs along the outside can be used for easy width adjustments. I myself learned the hard way lol. Great vid and your eyes are to die for :)
I love this tutorial!! I desperately need pull out drawers because my kitchen lacks a pantry but I don't have a table saw needed for making drawers. This is PERFECT!
I am surprised you didn't put a drawer slide on the bottom of the cabinet to hold your pots and misc. I am not into carpentry I am into quilting and I must say you did a fantastic job. I had to hire a local cabinet company to install my drawer pullouts two per cabinet. The reason for the bottom cabinet slide out was because I had to have a total knee joint and knee cap replacement from a bad fall and therefore I am unable to get down on my knees to fetch items from the back of the lower shelf. It allows me to utilize all of my lower cabinets with ease and I am thankful for these slide outs for sure...you are a very gifted lady and did a beautiful job.

Hi, Ana. I love this idea. It'll make for much more organized storage. I don't think you took into account the finish on your shelf/ drawer bottom, though. It'll prevent the glue from bonding to the bottom. Staples may be enough to hold it, or you could scrape/ sand off the finish before applying the glue. Thanks for the video. Dan
Several years ago I did this for the lower shelves of my Mother-in-Law's pantry. What a difference. When she emptied the shelves she found six cake mixes on the bottom because they kept getting pushed to the back out of both sight and reach. I built my own kitchen and there isn't a single fixed shelf in any of the lower cabinets. Even the very bottoms are pull-outs.
Recently I converted our whole pantry (cupboard style) into pull-out trays. Each side had 3 shelves, plus the bottom. So 4 levels. With the trays, I was able to increase it to 5 levels, because I could make 1 or 2 levels very shallow to hold small things like cans or small items. That won't work on regular shelves, but for pull-outs it's perfect, because you can open it to get the small things at the back.
This is a woman that has the tools...and knows how to use them. I bet you made your Dad very proud. Thank you for the education. Keep smiling... Ana you look marvelous !!
Pull outs are the best thing for a new kitchen you might laugh with this one but I installed pull out's for my garage as well. I only have shelves on wall not base cabinets, great job Ana.
We did roll outs on all of our cabinet 14 in all we did both top and bottom and the pantry cabinet also. I used maple rails and 1/4” maple plywood shelves dadoed into the side rails. Finished with multiple coats of sprayed table top finish that we normally use in our cabinet shop.
I can not thank you enough for making this video. I moved into a house with odd sized cabinets. And I need to make pull out draws like yours, but didn’t know how to. Thanks again. 👍🏻
Love your videos and how to's. I've been doing woodworking for a while but your videos show that a non-woodworker can do it too. Plus, you have GREAT feet with absolutely gorgeous arches!!!
What I did when making the draw was to make the rear board 2 times higher than the rest in order to keep some things from falling off the back when over stuffed. Especially the lower drawer because it will not close. My 2 cents.
love it, this will certainly help our Plain-Jane kitchen cabinets pop a little more. FYI, keep up the good work, your videos keep getting better and better each time. Your Coffee X Table was the project that got me into woodworking. Thank you for all the hard work you do!

Nice job. Well done project and video. Simple instructions, good video angles and you had a nice even pace without a lot of useless chatter. Excellent! I converted the clothes closet next to my fridge to 6 shelves with slide out drawers very similar to what you did. Like yours, the increase in functional space was well worth the effort.
love the 'shim on the bracket first' thing... am doing pullout for all my cabinets and luckily am just now building boxes so will be able to use this before mounting them...thanks again, as always...
Hi Ana! I love your idea for full use of space in lower cabinets. I might just mention that one shouldn't let the tape measure retract uncontrolled and let the hook at the end smack the housing. Over time letting that happen can make your reading not true when exact measurement is important. The hook is made to be a little loose, but repeated whacks will change the attachment. I hold my index finger under the tape as it retracts and it stops the hook before the whack. 😉
Terrific demonstration. Great narration. Consider adding higher sides and higher back for kitchen cabinets to keep items from falling off sliding drawer. Agree with comments about eye protection and hair tie. I just subscribed to see more of your demonstrations. Thanks
Really nice project. For attaching the second drawer slide without the wobble due to having the shelf resting on the first slide, try setting the drawer up on two piece of wood on either side of the first slide. That'll make it more stable. Thanks for sharing all your projects. As always, good stuff!

Could’ve also cut the plywood spacers (slides are attached to), the height equal to the spacing of the holes for the pins used the shelves. Place the plywood (slides) with pins under and pins above. That way you could just have the shelves sitting in there and could raise or lower them when required. They wouldn’t go anywhere as they’d be held up by the pins top and bottom. Great tips. 🇨🇦👍🏼
I have wondered how to do this. I have a 1986 Fleetwood motor home I'd like to fix, the spaces under the sink and stove are so deep, but when packed, you cannot get to the items in the back. This information will help me work on that, someday, hoping to go on the road full time...wanting to fix my 'home' up to be more user friendly. Thank you...and I can practice in our home as well, it needs a lot of work too. It's a 1974, and needs a lot of TLC before we can sell it. Thanks so very much! I think I can do this now.

Small tip! Use two pieces of wood (same thickness, length about the same as the drawer) to support the drawer when attaching the second slider. It will be very stable.

I added pullouts to our kitchen a total of 14, 2 per cabinet. I wish I had used shelf pins for level what a great idea!!! Also your hair is fine some aways need to find fault. I even cook on a gas stove with my hair down .
I've been thinking of doing this for so long. We use plastic trays that we slide out so we can see what's at the back. I really must get on with it. My plan is to do some under the sink cut at a shape to fit round the plumbing making the best of the space available. Nice job well done.
Ana, you really inspire me because there's so much I want to do with my home and your videos make me feel like I can do this! I'd love if you made a video on your background in woodworking, (if that's the correct term, I'm a noob) :) like what got you into this and how did you learn? any advice for anyone interested in learning? what was your first project, most memorable? what projects do you enjoy most and least? If you could do this I'd be forever appreciative and I know so many could use some inspiration from you!
Look up her basic tool-use tutorials during which she describes how she and hubby were building their own home and she didn't feel comfortable enough with the power tools to use them so was only fetching and carrying so to speak until he convinced her to use the circular saw to trim a board so he wouldn't have to climb down and back up to the rafters for one small cut. She gained confidence from there on to become the inspiration for other small, inexperienced DIYers like myself!
One option would be to create a rack on the inside of the cabinet door to store all your oot lids. That makes them very easy to get to and frees up space in one of the drawers.
I have the stainless rack type which we bought at a very high price and yours are much nicer. I would add one on the bottom too as it helps you store and get to things in the back much easier- especially as you age.
Great job. don't listen to the negative people on here. those dudes who think they know it all, don't make videos. they're to busy bashing people who want to help others.
Easy there, Mr. Knight. She's not going to throw herself at you for defending her honor. So trying to watch out for others' safety is considered negative now? Its funny how she wears ear protection but none for her eyes. Also long hair around a drill in a confined space is a very bad idea. Have you not seen the video of a girl trying to eat corn?
On the cabinet slide, there are u shaped tabs with one hole. These are designed to bend outward and mount to the carcass if there is a gap situation from misalignment ect. I am not sure if they work for a 1/2 inch gap but I just learned that last week.
First I was thinking why a drawer, you have enough drawer above the cabinet. But than I saw the lids there and I think nice idea. I will keep this idea in mind. Thank you.
Hey Anna, I love all your stuff. Actually I discovered you a long time ago before all the videos. You are totally my inspiration. I am single mom so I have not been able to spend a whole lot on the woodworking tools you have, but I'll get there. Im a storage person. I did not used to be, but for some reason I just now love any wood working projects with storage storage storage. Your projects are just so pleasing. Keep up the good work.
I'm doing something very similar. Only my shelves are not removable but that's ok. I'm mounting my sliders onto those shelves so it'll be bottom mount and I have to build the drawers. Bottom mount provides more weight stability. Anyways, while I'm not old yet, it's a hassle having to crouch or sit on the floor, take bunch of stuff out to reach the back of the 2-0 deep cabinet. My project cost little more and I used 1x5x6 wood planks for the sides (I like them little deeper) which are only $3 and sheet of plywood for drawer bottom is under $10.
It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better ruclips.net/user/postUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . I added pullouts to our kitchen a total of 14, 2 per cabinet. I wish I had used shelf pins for level what a great idea!!! Also your hair is fine some aways need to find fault. I even cook on a gas stove with my hair down .
Another awesome idea by Anna!
Thanks! Your video help me a lot!!! I couldn't find any roll out shelf in the market that fit in my cabinet without waisting space.
I've been thinking of doing this for so long. We use plastic trays that we slide out so we can see what's at the back. I really must get on with it. My plan is to do some under the sink cut at a shape to fit round the plumbing making the best of the space available. Nice job well done.
I would love that in my kitchen 😍 the sliding draws are good too
Ana, you really inspire me because there's so much I want to do with my home and your videos make me feel like I can do this!
Her husband taught her. He is a contractor.
Excellent work, I would suggest pulling out the lower half since pots pans are heavier, they will be easier to reach for accessibility....great job!
Thanks!
I have the stainless rack type which we bought at a very high price and yours are much nicer. I would add one on the bottom too as it helps you store and get to things in the back much easier- especially as you age.
Thanks! I need to see it.
You are good at demonstration
Great job. don't listen to the negative people on here. those dudes who think they know it all, don't make videos. they're to busy bashing people who want to help others.
Thanks for the kindness:)
yea dont pay attention on the people that are telling you to be more careful they are jealous !
So yr saying let her go BLIND...MORON
On the cabinet slide, there are u shaped tabs with one hole. These are designed to bend outward and mount to the carcass if there is a gap situation from misalignment ect. I am not sure if they work for a 1/2 inch gap but I just learned that last week.
Thank you, nice work. It would be easy and handy to make one for the bottom section also !
Thanks for the visit!
ImpressiveI Beautifully done! I love how passionate you're and good the drawer looks.
First I was thinking why a drawer, you have enough drawer above the cabinet. But than I saw the lids there and I think nice idea. I will keep this idea in mind. Thank you.
You are AWESOME Ana White!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice work
That gives me confidence!! I can do this!! I would add a pull out under that top one for the pans as well 😃using the shelf pins to hold it!! Genious😀
A family member has all pull out drawers in the lower cabinets. I want this for my next kitchen.
Yay girl!! Now that im in my fifties, how i wished someone showed me that i can be cute and do carpentry. Skill is power.
Never too late to start!
Thank you for sharing this tutorial with us--I plan to build my wife some pull out drawers this summer and this has given me some great ideas
Tim Davey Glad you found this video useful! Thanks!
Love a woman who isn't afraid of getting dirty.
