I loved Hubert Humphrey and this was Foster Brook’s best roast performance. I watched the original telecast in 1973 and was practically on the floor laughing when he made the Henry Cabot Lodge joke.
What is so amazing is how he keeps a straight face - its almost automatic to laugh at your own joke when the response is laughter this makes him more than a genius..
...and the most magical thing with these brilliant displays of comedy on the highest level is that you can watch them as many times you like and still you´ll laugh out loud every time !!!
You know what was great about Foster Brooks? He didn't have to say one word and he had everyone dying laughing. There will never be another one like him.

This Roast was the best ever. Not just because it was Foster Brooks, but because it was the one when Dean Martin lost his mind more than any other Roast .
Outstanding performance by Brooks. Notice how people start laughing just to know that his time has come. Absolut perfect timing. I dare to say he's the best drunk impersonator ever.
I know Foster Brooks is one of the most legendary comedians of all time, but I would honestly say that this is one of his best performances. He had the entire crowd in stitches throughout the whole thing and to the point where some of them couldn't stop laughing at the end and Dean couldn't stand up straight.
yeah, but there’s been tricky editing to this clip. foster squeezed a fart bag or something, pretending to blow a big noisy fart, that’s why everyone is hysterical at the end, the fart part was edited out.....
I remember watching these roasts when I was a kid. I think I was 11 or 12. They are still as funny today as they were then. The one thing I love about this is that everyone was laughing and having a good time. Foster Brooks loved to make Dean Martin laugh and it was so comical just watching Dean laugh. Brings back so many good memories. Comedy won't ever be like this anymore. Thanks for sharing this.
Maxwell Smart I do so wish I could disagree with you, but sadly I fear you are right. Todays younger generation will never have the fun and enjoyment we had out of life back in those far simpler days...
What makes Foster Brooks' act so great is that, according to an interview I read, he didn't just play a drunk person...he played a drunk person trying (but failing) to hide the fact that he's drunk.
It was his schtick just like Rodney Dangerfield very similar in that they didn't get popular until they were middle-aged. It's all in the material but also in the delivery. The jokes are funny on their own but even funnier doing his I'm not drunk routine

I love how in every roast he is bringing Dean Martin to tears from laughter.
Make people laugh without saying a word, that's talent
Like Mr Bean
We were in the presence of giants and we didn't even realize it until they were gone!
Like Joni Mitchell sang, "you don't know what you got till it's gone. "
@@rickwilliamson9248 You don't know what you got till you clean your room.
My younger brother and I tried to mimic Foster Brooks, we weren't any good at it but we'd roar with laughter just knowing how the master did it. He IS Absolutely hilarious without foul language. He was a giant, we didn't know how special he was. I love seeing the other celebs on the dais REALLY laughing until they cry.
Speak for yourself.
So well said!
When people are laughing and clapping before you even speak, that's REAL talent! .......

This was real comedy and these guys were legends.Foster Brookes made Dean laugh so hard he was weak and he did it with class and no vulgarity. Those days are gone.
He did say Booby lol
I loved Hubert Humphrey and this was Foster Brook’s best roast performance. I watched the original telecast in 1973 and was practically on the floor laughing when he made the Henry Cabot Lodge joke.
I love this one. Have you seen the Don Rickel roast. Awesome
He did rickles even better
''Boy, he's a big guy. He's about six twelve!'''. Dean and Foster were so great together. You can tell they loved each other's sense of humor.
What is so amazing is how he keeps a straight face - its almost automatic to laugh at your own joke when the response is laughter this makes him more than a genius..
All Foster Brooks had to do was stand up there and Dean started to laugh. Priceless.
✝️
I love watching Dean totally crack up at Foster.
Because both were considered as celebrity drunks, but Foster was king of that prank...!
Guy has no pattern. Total improv on a timing to hickup, repeat the sullaby or lose the tone pich.
Dean was the perfect straight man for Foster Brooks.
The Senator had a great time.
The crowd was the loudest I've seen in these roasts.
Totally timeless comedy.
Those roasts were comedy gold...and always such a great compilation of talent .
I love how everyone started laughing the instant Mr. Brooks rose from his seat. 😂✌
never be another foster brooks. (a true master of comedy)
I love how he always playfully punches Dean when he's up on the podium 🤣🤣🤣. That's real friendship right there.
comedy at its finest. foster Brooks was a freaking genius!
...and the most magical thing with these brilliant displays of comedy on the highest level is that you can watch them as many times you like and still you´ll laugh out loud every time !!!
I’m in my late 60’s and I remember watching Foster on tv when I was a kid. He’s still the best in my book. May he rest in peace.
I love how Dean just looks at Foster and starts laughing.😆😆😆😆
He had everybody, including Dean Martin, laughing harder here than even Don Rickles normally would.
You gotta watch Foster roast Rickkles. Don was cracking up as much as Dean does.
You know what was great about Foster Brooks? He didn't have to say one word and he had everyone dying laughing. There will never be another one like him.
Amen Sizter Pennie
Dean Martin can never keep it together when Foster is up.
My God. This man is absolutely hilarious!! I wish we had comedians like this in Europe today. Well done USA on producing such comic genius. The American comedians in the 1970s were amazing!!
Your "Doc Martin" was every bit as funny. Americans caught it better than you Brits. That series was genius gold for us.
When Foster got plenty of laughter and applause before he even shared his routine, that speaks volumes about his talent!
Thank you for showing these roast videos, watched them as a kid, never can be replaced. God bless Dean Martin and all these celebrities who make you never stop laughing.
Haven't laughed this much since this first aired back in the 70s.. Foster Brooks was just so damn funny. Thanks for the memories.
+A T Morgan Thanks for the comment.
+A T Morgan : Ditto what _A T Morgan_ said. :-)
Do you know what the laugh at the end was? It seemed like they were all hysterical but the film seems as if it were edited.
@@realmusicnj foster farted at the end when Dean doubled over from laughing so hard. To bad we didn't hear it, but they did.
@@djs3484
As I've said earlier it was a farting machine, Foster wanted to see if he could get away with it, he didn't. I think the audience heard it too it must have been loud. Shame it was cut....
Foster always got the biggest pre-performance laughs and applause when he got to the podium. Remember seeing him on TV back in the 1960s; warped me for life! Still ROTFLMAO after all these years.
His roasts didn't last long enough for me I could watch him all day of the year RIP Foster Brooks ❤
This does not get any more hilarious than that!! Foster was amazing!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah Caitlin, almost as funny as "No soap, radio".
He really was.
Every time I hear him roast someone I crack up. And, start even before he says anything. He was a true comedic genius
So true Walter. He was one of a kind and didnt seem arrogant at all
I agree Caitlin
Love how happy Dean Martin looks every time foster brooks gets up and does what he does better than anyone else..
What a joy to watch ! Barry Goldwater urologist had me dying laughing . You killed Martin with laughter Foster lol
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Even after 46 years Foster Brooks is still cracking people up!
This Roast was the best ever. Not just because it was Foster Brooks, but because it was the one when Dean Martin lost his mind more than any other Roast .
For me, the funniest line is: "He (Humphrey) thought Henry Cabot Lodge was a hotel.
And that Barry Goldwater was a Urologist! Lol
Outstanding performance by Brooks. Notice how people start laughing just to know that his time has come. Absolut perfect timing. I dare to say he's the best drunk impersonator ever.
Yes he was, he never touched a drop yet he was the perfect drunk. RIP, all these guys i say thank you for the laughs.
Let's not forget his comedy timing , is impeccable , a true master of his craft . Great days .....

@DatrixTSW2012 😱
Jim Lahey from trailer park boys does a great drunk also.
Talent that is long gone and we are left with those who have no talent
entertainers of today. Mr. Brooks was a tremendous talent.
No mobile phone
No internet
Pure joy and happiness.
Where did humans go.
Guy stands there for 20 seconds before saying a single word and he has the place rolling in laughter 😂
I just love this. Dean Martin looks like he's in pain from laughing. I love the end when Dean can hardly stand as he is laughing so much.
When you get laughs before you even say a word, you know you're good. Mr. Brooks, King of the Roasters
Dean and Foster were a total riot. Never get tired of watching them. Thanks for posting this video Mr Hardin.
Carey Leroux Thanks for the comment.
Carey Leroux So do I.
+Carey Leroux Foster always punched Dean on his shoulder.
Dean just loved Foster Brooks he never could introduce him without losing it before a word come out of his mouth.
Amazing how he could make a room full of people laugh hysterically before he said a single word.
This is the best example of learning how to laugh at yourself.
I know Foster Brooks is one of the most legendary comedians of all time, but I would honestly say that this is one of his best performances. He had the entire crowd in stitches throughout the whole thing and to the point where some of them couldn't stop laughing at the end and Dean couldn't stand up straight.
I beg to differ, his roast of Don Rickles is better!
@@tommyzielinski485 For me, it's a tie between his roast of Rickles and Sammy Davis Jr but this one is very good.
yeah, but there’s been tricky editing to this clip.
foster squeezed a fart bag or something, pretending to blow a big noisy fart, that’s why everyone is hysterical at the end, the fart part was edited out.....
My favorite is Foster roasting Don Rickles or maybe Lucille Ball...both awesome.
@@rongermanjr Thanks a lot. That explains the ending, that I did not understood. :)
Unbelievable talent that Brooks can do that monologue and not crack up when everyone else is cracking up. Comedy genius!
Not to mention, people who knew his schtick were already laughing before he made it to the podium because they knew what sort of thing was coming!
I love the moments where Foster reaches over and takes a playful swipe at Dean.
One of Foster's best. Hubert is having the time of his life
I can watch this stuff all night long and never get enough. Nothing today can compare. Sure miss these talented super stars. Good days for sure.
Jack Wessels so true. An era we will never see again.
Dash Riprock ;
Yep! You nailed it!
It was his schtick just like Rodney Dangerfield very similar in that they didn't get popular until they were middle-aged. It's all in the material but also in the delivery. The jokes are funny on their own but even funnier doing his I'm not drunk routine
This guy was absolutely hilarious I wish he was still around
One of my favorite videos. The very first time I watched this I was working overnight security and I cried cuz I laughed so hard. Had to wipe my eyes from the tears of laughter RIP Foster, you were a blessing
Is it just me or does everyone else laugh harder everytime they see the same Foster Brooks videos?
No it's not just you. I live alone and I'm sure my neighbors would like to know what's going on in my apt.😂
I used to watch my father cry when this man walked on stage, I was six years old, now I understand!!
Boy, I've enjoyed watching all these comedian's. You start laughing before they even said a word.☺ They were truly gifted. Thank you so much for sharing these. God bless you.
The comedic art of harmless insults, sadly lost forever in today's America.
What he said at the end was: "Here we are: a boozer and a loser!"
thank you! i've always wondered what he said that had Dean falling over.
Thanks, I couldn't catch what he said.
You know how funny the mas was when the audience started laughing even before the jokes began. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Never get fed up of watching this, always cheers me up 🤣
