Wow, i was seeing the gradient and cringing, if i may ask, what gear ratios do you use Phil, id want to have such high cadence at a 17% gradient climb.

Jeez. I didn't realize what kind of power Phil was producing up those climbs. I always assumed his 'everyday man persona' from the videos translated into something closer to weekend warrior power. Not MvdP numbers...
I was pro for 10 years and won over 50 races. It’s still in there once in awhile

As someone who rides those hills ALL THE TIME, Grandview is childs play compared to Valley View. at 22%. Come in to Fernwood off of Topanga and and at the first left hand hairpin turn, ..... go right. I can not climb like you do these days having broken my hips two years ago, but Grandview is NOTHING compared to Valley View....... 22% for a 1/4 mile with no let up......... way more of a challenge.
