- Two former pro teammates and some of the coolest guys in cycling (Kiel Reijnen who now rides for Trek Factory and Alex Howes on EF Education First) wanted to visit for some offseason training, but surprised me with an epic journey in the desert on gravel bikes. I really love this. I especially love how you didn't try to portray it in epic drama story form, even though it clearly had elements of an epic drama! A straight play, no over-the-top soundtrack, no "will we survive this?", just some great moments from amazing riding with amazing friends. Bravo! 👏👏👏

This looked like a great adventure, really enjoyed it. Can't imagine how it feels to ride down some of those dead straight desert roads that continue seemingly forever. Also glad those drivers didn't manage to inadvertently complete the mission of the video and kill Phil. Looking forward to vol2

Been through the desert on a bike with no name.
They were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the headwinds began to take hold. Phil remembers saying something like "I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe one of you should pull...." And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us...

That was an epic tour of the Mojave! Thanks for taking us along. I used to volunteer for the Mojave Death Race, which traversed some of the same areas, only in the summer. The Mojave is a beautiful place, but desolate and lonely.
This was great!!!. "Kill Phil" should definitely be a 2 hour "Impossible Route" type of thing. I really enjoyed this one a lot.

Great video. The race director was epic. I laughed when I saw you heading past the road closed signs on 66, knowing why the road was closed. I was waiting to see if you guys took a "detour" to check out the hemp farm out that way.... Lots of stuff to check out along 66.
Well done Phil. Great entertainment, as usual. The friendship and little nuggets of desert sketchiness where hilarious. Zzyxz has quite an incredibly weird history if you dig deeper. I want to see the climb from Palm Springs up to Yucca Valley. That had to be nasty, whether they did road or gravel.
I freaking hate sand pits and wash boards. I want my gravel smooth with no large rocks!😂 I dropped my flip phone in a porta potty once. It’s still there! I bought a new phone!😂 I was once going to buy land in Zzyzx and start a rattlesnake ranch. Tastes like chicken, you know!
I love the camaraderie. You guys are a bit nuts to get lost on desert roads at night, though.
