I grabbed 12 cans of pumpkin for $1.49 (reg. $2.49) each. Sugar is $1.99 for 4 lbs.. Sweet potatoes are 59 cents a lb, so I plan on getting 5 lbs or so of those. Turkey is 79 cents a lb with additional $25 purchase. I'm stocking up on holiday prices. Those of us who are living the frugal lifestyle, knows this is the way to go. Have a blessed day, and thank you for this RUclips channel

You can buy a package of pumpkin seeds for .69 cents and plant them in the backyard. You will have enough pumpkins for the entire neighbourhoods. Even dogs like pumpkin. You can freeze lots and lots. Very easy plant to grow.

I started making bagels a few months ago and am loving it! The only thing that I do differently is to put the dough ingredients into my bread machine and set it on Dough cycle. A little less work but still delicious results. I alternate bagel making with overnight bread baking, every other week for each. There's enormous satisfaction in producing beautiful baked goods while saving money.

Here in the UK we don’t get Everything but the Bagel seasoning. I found a recipe online and bought all the ingredients and now make my own for a fraction of the cost. The bags of seeds etc are quite big so whenever I run out I just mix up another batch of the seasoning using what I’ve already bought. I love it on poached eggs and avocado on toast for breakfast.

I bought the dried fruit and nuts and non-melting powdered sugar for our Christmas stollens a few months ago. We’ve had that every Christmas morning, with a few pots of tea, for 40 years, and my adult son has never had a Christmas without it. I always buy the ingredients ahead of time, because it’s the most important breakfast of our year as a family. Tradition!😁❤️
I also buy good quality dry tortellini ahead of time, and then make homemade turkey stock with our Thanksgiving turkey and freeze it until Christmas Eve, because our other 40 year old tradition is to have a big pot of tortellini in brodo for supper on Christmas Eve.
Oh, and right after Christmas, I start buying the ingredients and putting them away for making my son’s birthday meal. His birthday is May 2. 😆 People laugh at me, but I’ve done this for decades, because we can eat beans and rice or toast and tea for meals every night if we really have to, but there are a handful of meals that really matter to me to get right, and I bend over backwards to be sure I can produce those meals even if we’re hit by hard times. There were a few years where I was really glad I had stuck those ingredients away, I can tell you.

@@FrugalMoneySaver My husband’s mom always made them when he was a kid. We married young (I was 21 and he was 20), and were immediately stationed away from family, being off to Italy with the AF. So I was determined to cook things his mom did, so he wouldn’t be homesick. I couldn’t cook to save my life, but i tried.😆 And after decades, I bake a pretty mean stollen now! Heh.

I have been saving .55 cent coupons that are on the inside of the box of my favorite brand of butter. This brand has inched up to $6.29 a pound. Thankfully I have been using the stock we had in my freezer. Today they were on Buy One Get One Free special. With the special price and minus the coupons I bought this butter for $2.60 a pound. This should take me well into the winter months. Yea😊

Those bagels look absolutely delicious and they so easy and economical to make at home. I just bought two 10-lb pound bags of Green Giant brand Russet potatoes for $0.99 cents each at Yokes, a WA/ID regional store. Many prices are up, but there are still bargains.

My Frugal purchases was .49 cent per pound turkeys. I got 4 and cooked two, pulled them off the bones and froze them. Then took the bones and made broth in the crock pot. Sweet potatoes .54 a pound, I got 5 lb. Through Ibotta I got a free turkey breast, a thing of sweet potatoes, pkg of gravy, and a can of cranberry sauce.
The other 2 turkeys were broken down, I gifted the leg quarters to someone with a smoker. I did bake the breasts from the other two turkeys for Thanksgiving.
I will be trying the bagels as they look beautifully delicious. They would be wonderful with my homemade apple butter.

Pass the bagels...and the coffee! Yum! I like to top them with cream cheese, Zat'ar seasoning, and dried sumac (powdered).
I was raised to think ahead about holiday meals. My Dad passed on in 2015, but we used to love to grocery shop together and we'd often go to a nearby discount store called "More for Less". About the time my kids went back to school in the fall, Dad would call me up and say, "Isn't it about time we started getting some holiday baking supplies together?!" ABSOLUTELY! We'd gather powdered and brown sugars, peanut butter in bulk, red decorator sugar, coconut, nuts, candy chocolate coating, etc. We'd also stock up on evaporated milk, butter, yams, flour, sugar, and anything else we could think of for our holiday meals. Dad was always a good provider and he was a true 'prepper' before it was a thing. lol
This year we raised turkeys for our freezer and we harvested them about 3 weeks ago. I stay stocked ahead on things like sugar and flour, but I've stocked up on cranberry sauce (many in my crew like the canned stuff better than homemade--me included, lol), butter ($$$$$--I can't find it on sale anywhere near me), coconut, cream of chicken soup (I know...but it's SO much easier...), etc. and we grew sweet potatoes, onions, green beans, corn, squash, etc.--so it really hasn't been too much of a burden to shop for extra groceries.
I'll note here that my most recent shop at our semi-local store showed me very scanty shelves in many departments....probably the leanest I've seen so far in our area. I'm already thinking about Christmas dinner extras--I need to stock up on more butter, but it's about $3.50/lb here. Yikes!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Emmy and Paul, I have been able to get cranberries for .99 a bag, 10 lbs of potatoes for 3.99, frozen veggies for .99 a bag and pumpkin for 1.99. You can do a nice Thanksgiving meal for a good price if you shop carefully.

Love, love love this video, and can't wait to make the bagels. We like to have bagels every once in a while on a Sunday morning. Well, I got two bagels last week, one for my husband and one for me and was shocked after I paid. The bagels were $1.85 EACH! And, we don't get anything on ours. Yikes! I've been stocking up on things like canned pumpkin, and baking items for Christmas cookies. The days are flying by, whew!

Hope you are not getting plummeted by the snowstorm hitting the Northeast this weekend! Oh my goodness...those bagels look sooooo good! Everything bagels are my favorite. I have a simple recipe for bagels that is just flour and plain Greek yogurt. Not as good as a NY bagel but a good, quick option. I am not hosting anything this year. I am joining a couple girlfriends for Thanksgiving dinner out and we will also go out for Christmas dinner too. But I have bought some items that are considered traditional holiday meal items like canned pumpkin because I like to give it to the dogs as they really like it and I also use it to mix in with instant vanilla pudding and some pumpkin pie spice for an old weight watchers dessert recipe. As always I've been grabbing frozen vegetables and anything else that I can find that I know I will use if it is on sale. With the cold weather that has come to the midwest, I want to make sure that I have some extra Staples in not only the freezer but also my pantry in case we get some unexpected snow and the trucks don't get to the grocery stores or the deliveries are delayed/suspended. That doesn't happen too often but it sounds like you up in the Northeast are really going to get hit this weekend. I pray everyone stay safe and stays inside like recommended. Some of the biggest problems come when people don't use common sense and stay off the roads. I know you and Paul have a good stock pile of items in your pantry and freezers so you will be fine I'm sure. And I'm sure Dixie Belle has plenty of kibble available for her too! I just bought a 30 lb bag of the Nutro Healthy Weight that my dogs eat a couple weeks ago so we should be good. I was also able to get a bag of their glucosamine / chondroitin treats that they get every other day on sale at Sam's club. I try to keep a bag of head so that I never run out. After some of the shortages in 2020/2021, I tend to keep a little extra stock more than I used to of some items that I really don't want to run out of. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I don't know if you will be taking next week off for the holiday or if you will be having a video on Tuesday or not. Whatever you do, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Blessings to you my friends!

No storm here Rosemary. That huge storm is about 6 hours away in Western NY. Those in that area are in our prayers for sure! We will definitely have a video Tuesday but we will take Friday off to be with family and friends! A blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours as well!

    • @rosemarydoran9907

@@FrugalMoneySaver I thought you were so much further south of the storm so I'm glad for that but I cannot believe the forecast that I'm seeing for the Buffalo area; four to six feet of snow?!?! I know they are used to getting a lot of snow in the winter but those poor people will be digging out next spring. It has been very cold here all week in Nebraska. It's only up to 30 and down into the teens and single digits in some areas overnight. Very grateful that all three of the dogs like to sleep on the bed with me as they definitely help keepe warm! Time to add another blanket on the bed as well. Anyway, I'm so grateful you and Paul will not be hit with this snowstorm but I am sure at some point you will get quite a lot of snow as well we here in Nebraska. I know the upper Midwest has aready been hit with snow. We had a few flurries the other day but nothing that could accumulate. Happy Thanksgiving to all of your followers here in the US. Hope everyone has a blessed and safe holiday!🦃🍁🥧

Didn't know bagels were so easy to make. They look great.
Gas for under 4.00 gallon sounds good to me. Here in Fresno California, it's about 5.00 a gallon, right now. Some places as low as 4.79 gal but some places it's over 5.00. I'm surprised your price is so much less considering it's New York.
Don't know if it's all stores but the Aldi's here have rolled back prices to pre pandemic prices. So we got 10lbs of potatoes for 1.49, canned veggies for .49, 2lbs of carrots for .79 and more.
At Vons we found canned spinach for only 1.00 per can, OMG, my daughter and I nearly flipped. We love canned del Monte spinach and have never found it cheaper than a 1.50 each, so to find it for only 1.00 was a big treat.
And we love hot cocoa. I love to add peppermint to it. Did you know they have peppermint whipped cream? So good and really delicious on top of hot chocolate.
Thanks Emmy and Paul, great video.
I hope you guys have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I can hardly wait. It's the one time a year I make my candied yams from scratch.
Funny, I grew up on the canned yams with marshmallows in top...
But once I tasted fresh, I never went back to canned.
My favorite foods at the Thanksgiving dinner are:
    Stuffing
    Candied yams
And my homemade cranberry sauce. So good.
    What are your favorites?

I have my claw crab meat for Christmas Eve Polish Wigilia Dinner. $8.99 a can. Also bought champagne during the year for $6.00 a bottle. We like it dry (Brut)
Lots of times sold out before the holidays. Haven't checked the price lately but I am sure it probably went up. Been getting the loss leaders every week from ShopRite and Acme. Heard ketchup & tomato products will be in short supply
around April. So I am going to stock up now especially if I see a sale. Distilled water shortage. Get some now if you need for medical machines etc. Only use distilled water in your steam iron.

Your bagels looked so delicious. Great job! We have been staying home more too. We noticed last month we were going somewhere so often we ended up overspending in the gas amount. So now we are making do with the food we have, making sure to combine trips when we do go out and finding things to do at home so we stay at home. When we went to our local Kroger store they had miniature candy bars on a clearance sale that were in a square shape. I suggested we get them and put them on a plate at Christmas for the guests we have on Christmas Day. We paid $2.28 for a 14 oz. bag. One less thing I have to make. A local grocery store had confectioner's sugar and brown sugar on sale for $1.28 for a 2# bag, so I stocked up. They also had flour on sale for $1.49 for 5# bag, normally $2.29.
