Sonic: "This house looks like my old Schoolhouse" (sonic's schoolhouse reference) Sonic: "This reminds me of that one time i lost all of my speed" (sonic labyrinth reference) those would've been awesome
This is the nostalgia script I wish we had for Generations. We only got a glimpse of these references with Sonic and Tails feeling familiar vibes from Green Hill and Chemical Plant.
@@marguya4643 For coming off Unleashed, Generations is a massive downgrade and there's so many problems like 9 out of 30+ Levels and Time Eater being a shxt final boss. I know some people got annoyed with all the references. But me? I like them. It makes the world feel like it has actual history and things actually happened. And it's different from just a "Hey, that reminds me of this" style of off-handed mention, which would be something you'd see in something like The SImpsons, where characters occasionally reference past events unless it was some major event (like the death of a major character).
😭😭😭he legit just referenced some Sonic 3 and knuckles locations, ahhhh the nostalgia is just too perfect, makes me wanna buy all the previous sonic games and just run through

Yeah a gripe I do have about the game is how silent sonic is dueing boss fights and exploring. U would think hed have things to say about this strange place and bantering with his enemies but he doent.
I kept getting hype the more I saw this dialogue. Buying instantly. It’s a shame there’s no super sonic playable but maybe a future patch will add like in forces
Frankly, I'm not too interested in a playable super Sonic, mostly because it seems to be more of a nuclear option here, instead of just a cool bonus thing you can get. But if you want it and bought the game on PC, just wait a bit, and someone will mod him in.
Super Sonic has never been playable outside of boss fights for the main 3D games. I doubt that will ever be a thing since being Super Sonic all the time doesn't really make sense story wise and negates any challenge or danger in the story as well since Super Sonic is like an invincible God.
@@AdmiralOctopus after you beat the game and in an open world game like this one it makes no sense to have him unless it's simply a skin which wouldn't be worth it. Being able to fly and be invincible kinda negates the entire game.
Ha, funny joke. Ian Flynn's the one who deserves the thanks on the continuity nods. If only the English VAs didn't sound like they couldn't care any less about keeping the character's voice consistent.
The only location that stands out is “Green Forest”. Would have been better if he said something like, “the forest on Prison Island”, or something. Oh well, at least he didn’t say “Zone” at the end of the classic locations; that would have been an eye-roller moment 😆
NO WAY, an Unleashed reference! I was hoping to hear about Chip, but my goodness that's still cool to hear this reference. Now they are seriously redeeming thr franchise!
I love how they finally made the series consistent again. I like this voice better than the previous actor but idk sonic will always sound way better the way he was back in Sonic Adventure
The shrine that Sonic mentioned is the one that Knuckles sits on the edge of towards the end of Ares Island. There's a broken, black emerald-looking item in the middle.
Thats actually a neat detail when sonic said that sky sanctuary feels older because it would be from generations where that stage was originally a 2D one. but he ran through it in 3D.
Some of those areas I recognize from Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis from the Aleio (grasslands) and Retem (desert) layouts and I think the volcano area is mostly the layout for the Sita region coming up soon.
A lot of these dialogs (both in this video and other videos where Sonic talks about someone or make references to past games) I haven't encountered yet, and I completed the first island as well as made decent progress on the second island.
You know it would be nice if he would mention other places. Like what if there was a place that reminds him during his time in Hyrule. And even mentions Link.
1:24 - Why the hell would you wanna remember Green Forest? You had to get the hell outta there, find Amy and Tails and get off the island so you wouldn't die.
That ones scripted to happen. Well, theyre all (or mostly) scripted to happen in certain locations, but the Mystic Ruins one will always happen at the waterfall, and can't be missed because it's a required location

Sonic does refer to himself as a time traveler at some point in game so, they could probably BS their way with some random excuse. They made Generations canon and then not in the same scene in Forces so, who knows. …I hope the next game is a bit more subtle, felt a little too fan service-y for me. I'm so glad that the classic games are now apart of the main timeline again.
At 0:29 that's definitely supposed to be for that one place an Ares island. And the Shamarr and curry ones are definitely for Ares as well.
“Reminds me of a shrine on angel island, and that looks like a off colour master emerald” is actually referring to the bunker on Ares island
To give an idea about where the "broken off-color" Master Emerald line likely plays or would've played, you can find a shrine/alter somewhere on Ares Island does/would've play. I know this because I ran into it and thought the same thing.
If Shadow's on the Starfalls Islands, he remember other locations he been like Westropolis and Radical Highway.
Ian Flynn being the master of continuity! :D
Sonic: "This house looks like my old Schoolhouse" (sonic's schoolhouse reference)
Sonic: "This reminds me of that one time i lost all of my speed" (sonic labyrinth reference)
those would've been awesome
This is the nostalgia script I wish we had for Generations. We only got a glimpse of these references with Sonic and Tails feeling familiar vibes from Green Hill and Chemical Plant.
Finally we are getting a great sonic game! We didn't had one for like 16 years (correct me if i said something wrong I'M not english)
Your only error is the use of "had". The correct term is "have".
11 years
Generations, Colors and Mania will like to have a word with you.
Unleashed and Black Knight were, Unleashed being a true AAA Modern Mainline Sonic Game, nothing was close since, not even Generations.
@@marguya4643 For coming off Unleashed, Generations is a massive downgrade and there's so many problems like 9 out of 30+ Levels and Time Eater being a shxt final boss. Gens is good but it isn't as fun, yes Mods exist but why? Why not have alot of levels already in the main game? Fans shouldn't have to be making the game feel full.
1:22 WOAH that forest looks SICK
*Amy gets brutally shot and killed* Sonic: “reminds me of the time on the ark! Weird.”
😭😭😭he legit just referenced some Sonic 3 and knuckles locations, ahhhh the nostalgia is just too perfect, makes me wanna buy all the previous sonic games and just run through
1:04 maybe cos that's literally where you are
Am I the only one that this makes me realize that Sonic is pretty old now.
"Huh, this green forest sure does remind me of Green Forest right about now!"
I thought it was really cool that he mentions Shamar, unleashead brings back good memories, I wonder if he remembers Chip.....
Now if only some of these environments mentioned actually showed up in Cyberspace instead of being recolored with Generations assets.
Yeah that's kinda how I feel. On one had it's nice to hear these references because a lot of those locations (and characters like Jet) feel long forgotten, so it's nice that they're being brought up again but on the other hand it's just pointing out that the developers haven't actually let us revisit those locations but Green Hill and Chemical Plant for the eighteenth time is totally fine! XD
Would have loved to see quartz quadrant or mystic ruins in cyberspace.
0:28 MIGHT be for ares island, like the place in the cutscene where knuckles gets flashbacks to angel island, and sonic and knuckles have that adorable buddy moment (also it would have more sense to put the master emerald shrine in the flashback INSTEAD, but ugh)
He’s only playable in bosses much like other 3D games.
Super Sonic has never been playable outside of boss fights for the main 3D games. I doubt that will ever be a thing since being Super Sonic all the time doesn't really make sense story wise and negates any challenge or danger in the story as well since Super Sonic is like an invincible God.
@@SohiHienExcept for Colours, Generations, Lost World, Forces...
@@AdmiralOctopus after you beat the game and in an open world game like this one it makes no sense to have him unless it's simply a skin which wouldn't be worth it. Being able to fly and be invincible kinda negates the entire game.
It's kinda weird how they reference Green Hill being on an island after Forces showed not that
"Ares Island is looking more like Sandfall Island"
"This looks like an all-nighter at Richard Simmons's house."
It's amazing that sega actually remembered that sonic has a continuity
Ha, funny joke. Ian Flynn's the one who deserves the thanks on the continuity nods. If only the English VAs didn't sound like they couldn't care any less about keeping the character's voice consistent.
The only location that stands out is “Green Forest”. Would have been better if he said something like, “the forest on Prison Island”, or something. Oh well, at least he didn’t say “Zone” at the end of the classic locations; that would have been an eye-roller moment 😆
Really just shows how much adventures this Hedgehog has been on
NO WAY, an Unleashed reference! I was hoping to hear about Chip, but my goodness that's still cool to hear this reference. Now they are seriously redeeming thr franchise!
Check his video about Sonic mentioning his friends.
Sonic riders is fucking canon let's goooooo 0:41
So both The Mario Mandate and The Two Worlds are Dead, FUCK YES
"Wow, this place is almost like Genocide City!"
I love how they finally made the series consistent again. I like this voice better than the previous actor but idk sonic will always sound way better the way he was back in Sonic Adventure
It's still Roger Craig Smith, but with a different voice direction.
@@xydis.06.03 ahh i see. I didn’t know that, I like this direction far better makes him not sound like a certified goofball 100% of the time.
"Bringd back memories of Rail Canyon."
(Cue the clip of Heroes Sonic shouting, "Nooo," as he falls off the rails for the 59th time.)😊
Him talking about jet just makes me want the long quills more
The one from mystic ruins does show up in the game
The shrine that Sonic mentioned is the one that Knuckles sits on the edge of towards the end of Ares Island. There's a broken, black emerald-looking item in the middle.
Thats actually a neat detail when sonic said that sky sanctuary feels older because it would be from generations where that stage was originally a 2D one. but he ran through it in 3D.
Mystic Ruins and Red Mountain namedrops, it's something small but makes me happy.
Looks like Sonic still remember all the past back in all of Sonic's previous games that we all know years ago.
As a long time sonic fan this brings me joy.
"Lois, this is worse than the time I went skydiving in Space Gadget!"
this is worse than the time i fucked up the teleport in scrap brain.
This is worse than the time I was framed by a faker!”
The “broken, off color master emerald “ sonic mentions reminds me of the super emeralds from mania.
i’m just happy he mentioned green forest. sonic adventure 2 is the goat!
Jet the Hawk is now Canon 😮😮😮😮
that chao garden reference hurt a little bit. they really should’ve put one in sonic frontiers
"So lush and green, reminds me of Green Forest"
I dunno, I feel like it would need more motor oil and explosions to truly get the smell right.
All we need is some sort of reference to chip and the storybook games and my life is complete
1:24 - Why the hell would you wanna remember Green Forest? You had to get the hell outta there, find Amy and Tails and get off the island so you wouldn't die.
I was actually able to trigger the Mystic Ruins one, and I was fairly surprised!
That ones scripted to happen. Well, theyre all (or mostly) scripted to happen in certain locations, but the Mystic Ruins one will always happen at the waterfall, and can't be missed because it's a required location
Damn south island reference, as in the island from sonic ova, thats what i call obscure. These references while a bit forced are pretty cool
How is south island obscure compared to the rest if them
I love how much sonic reminisces in this game
Rail Canyon from Heroes??!!!!! 🤩 OMG I never thought they'd reference that game in a LONG time!!!!! I love the level of Rail Canyon and as well Sonic Heroes being one of my favorite all time Sonic games I grew up with! 😁👍
sage references neo metal sonic in a cutscene too
They really need to bring back the Chao Gardens.
I find it funny that he mentions green forest of all places. He remembers it smelling “lush and green”, and yet after SA2, it’s… anything but lush and green lol
They are sweet references, but like… “smells lush and green, like green forest” and the Sky Sanctuary one felt super forced.
This kinda puts the world building in a weird spot for me as well since, it implies that Unleashed, Heroes, Forces (which includes lost world), and Riders ALL take place on the same planet in the same timeline.
Sonic does refer to himself as a time traveler at some point in game so, they could probably BS their way with some random excuse. They made Generations canon and then not in the same scene in Forces so, who knows.
…I hope the next game is a bit more subtle, felt a little too fan service-y for me. Then again, you have to go out of your way to hear these since I haven’t heard a single one in my 40 hours of
playing so…
It felt more like fun references for fans
a franchise that has had a broken continuity reference a bunch of games is great
The freaking canon 😩🔥
