I’m a guy who’s made a living for the last 30 years in cabinetry, carpentry and boat building and I watched this video because I love watching your channel, even if it’s something I am familiar with. You and your family are awesome and and adventurous and I will keep on watching.
Look at you two kids getting busy with it!! Way to fill a storage area with good solid shelving! There's nothing like that Mid-west can do attitude!! Can't believe those didn't built in the predicted 37 minutes, but here we are anyway. On top of that, you two could sit and make mud pies and it would be worth watching. Thanks for 15 minutes of fun watching you work.
We might have to do the next video on building mud pies! This construction project left us with tons of mud. Thanks again for watching and commenting! We always look forward to your comments 🙌🙌🎉
You could sleep 12 people comfortably in that room alone!!! Great build. Classic design! Great attention to detail. Didn't let anything fall through the cracks!!!!
I'm jealous. A wonderful new shop and doing restoration projects. I would love to have a similar shop with a lift. At this point in our lives probably not happening so, we will watch you guys have the fun. We do camp in a towable unit and enjoy being out in the mountains of N.C.
Sounds amazing, we can't wait to get out camping this year. The shop is definitely nice. We still have a lot of organization and work to do to make it more functional for us but we're loving it. Maybe someday a lift 🤞🤞. Thanks for the comment 🙂
Thanks for the comment! We really need to get better at estimating time, lol. We were able to empty our storage unit yesterday so it feels good not to have that monthly expense anymore. Thanks again for your support 😀😀
I’ve done my own DIY for 30 years including electrical and plumbing, also restoring my 71 chinook 18 plus and love watching you guys your super positive and just fun. You work well together bravo 🙌
That's awesome, hope it helps! We've had a couple videos lately that I don't think RUclips shared correctly with our subscribers. Check out our channel page to make sure you didn't miss any 😉 Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!
Love the video, Hello from Wisconsin. Found your channel from the merch you sent to sleeperdude, now my wife and I love watching your projects. We enjoy your clever editing and humor.
That's great! We wondered how many people saw it and decided to check out our channel. We're happy you did! Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!
Reasonable solution. One problem is possible sagging depend on the weight on the shelves. Solution, add intermediate posts in between. Another way is to use old bed rails for the long side. Now instead of painting the shelves, buy flannel backed vinyl table cloths and cut to widths to cover the shelves. They also work good to line shelves. If you hit a closeout, you can pick these up for $2 or less.
All great ideas! We considered sagging too but thought we'd see how it would go and add support as needed. Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!
We're planning on adding some to the shop area too that we'd want to be mobile. We're might consider those over casters. Thanks again for the comment 🎉
This is awesome for your batteries sailing uma they uses battle born lithium batteries they said it’s for house bank but works amazing on their sailboat.
Also, remember if you are limited on tools such as a cord.Less drill with the screwdriver bit and you only have one a smart idea to save on your battery.Life would be to predrill your holes for your screws. If you do this you can still have a tight screw fitting but allowing it easier to go through the wood.
I have something like the ends to put in my garage from beams, that will be kind of the same. The reason I’m going to allow space underneath is I live on a river and in case it floods my garage gets about 6” of water so want them off the floor. Well done though
Thanks for watching and commenting! We actually got them off Amazon and just bought 12v bulbs. The one over the kitchen sink we added an on/off switch. We listed those links for the lights in the description of that video where we installed them 💡😁
Jeez you two are such romantics... design some shelving while the kids are away and you're alone on date night... now if you were 2 decades younger 🤭 😉😂 Great video folks, thanks for the share, much love from another old married man in Scotland 😁
I was a Carpenter and built everything myself. Now that I'm old, I just buy the damn things😊 That was your first mistake, you went to Home Depot. I refuse to shop there!!! Lowe's takes care of our veterans!!@
It's definitely tempting to buy vs. build! Home Depot is just so much closer to where we live, BUT, we did find out they do a 10% off for veterans on most items so we've been using that. Thank you for your service 👍👍

Even after thirty years you might learn something new! In some areas of wood work I taught Dad as much as he taught me.
I am learning how they make it fun.
That's very kind of you to say! Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!

Also, i say "dang nab!" All the time. And i love it!
Haha, he said that completely randomly... we didn't notice until editing 😂
Storing things under a solid roof AND off the floor? Now you are cookin' with fire.
Your building (pole barn) exceeded my expectations! Happy for you.
Yes, we're happy with the new shop! Can't wait to actually get it wired and add workbenches and all that fun stuff 👍👍
You could sleep 12 people comfortably in that room alone!!! Great build. Classic design! Great attention to detail. Didn't let anything fall through the cracks!!!!
Thanks! Never know when you need a bunk room that can sleep 12 🤣👍👍
I think they look amazingly solid and very well built! Great job! You two continue to impress me and entertain me at the same time.
Thanks so much for the comment and for continuing to watch our videos!
Love how you both interact with one another and don’t take things too seriously
Gotta keep it fun or what's the point? Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!
Thanks for sharing! This is exactly what we need to do ourselves!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
You guys come up with the best ideas! It’s fun seeing your creative dreams come to fruition! Can’t wait for the next video!
Thanks so much!! There's more to come 😉
I am loving your channel, the way you both work together and your willingness to just do it!

Thanks so much! 😁😁
Great video guys! The additional time made the shelves more functional! The time estimates were a fun dynamic!

There you all are! Great video! I need to build shelves also so i did a screen shot of your plan! 😂 Thank you! 🙏

Good job you two! Looking forward to seeing the finished Retro Revival garage when it's all done! Cheers ! Lisa from Winnipeg
Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!
You guys need to try to get anker or ecoflow to sponsor you with one of those whole house power stations for the new barn.
Definitely! We have been talking with a company called Oukitel so we're going to have something soon!
Very nice and professional work! You guys work together so well, I am impressed!! 🙌🏼
Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!
I built some shelves just like that, they worked great, good job
Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!
Hi guys from KY, another fun video, keep ‘em coming!!🤗
Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!
Shelves are awesome 👌
Thank you! 🎉
I asked my husband for shelves just like this for CHRISTMAS years ago! He bought some shelves instead. I’m still irritated. Good job!
Haha, show him this video and tell him he could knock it out in an hour (or less if he's not trying to video the process!).

Are you showing your youth? Back in the day, thats the omly choice we had for shelving. The plastic things were not invented yet. LOL
Great job!!!🙂
You know us, just a couple of spring chickens!
NICE shelves
Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!
I made shelves like this for my eBay store! I put everything in rubber totes. So instead of osb board I just ran another 2x4 down the middle!
Awesome! Thanks for the comment 👍👍
Also could buy some of these furniture moving platforms to mount them on to all them to be moved around. Harbor Freight of course.
We're planning on adding some to the shop area too that we'd want to be mobile. We're might consider those over casters. Thanks again for the comment 🎉

Thanks for the comment, we definitely need ways to save power right now until we can get electricity to the barn.
All part of the process kids😊
Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!
@@retrorevivals it’s always fun to watch you all. I love the camaraderie. 😁❤️

Definitely makes sense! We're hoping for no flooding where we have our barn. Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching!
Where did you get the lights you put in "Harvey"? Love them and just found your channel and love it❤
Thanks for watching and commenting! We actually got them off Amazon and just bought 12v bulbs. The one over the kitchen sink we added an on/off switch. We listed those links for the lights in the description of that video where we installed them 💡😁
I'll bet you will eventually wish you spent the $150 to insulate the walls behind those shelves. Nice work on the shelves though! Sturdy and EASY!
We have plans to insulate the barn, hopefully before winter but we'll see!
Hey guys I hope you insulate your shop because winters there are harsh, you’ll have paint, oils, your equipment will last longer!😊😊😊😊
Yes, for sure, we're hoping to be able to but will need to save a few pennies first 🤑🤑
Cheap saws are fine buy a good blade and adjust it to cut square and it's good.
We wouldn't mind nicer tools someday but what we have works for now. Thanks for the comment!
Closed cell foam. Sprays in the barn. You just have to take everything out. Next nice day before you fill the barn to full.
Next nice day when we have an extra $12k 😂
Some reason I hear Culligan in that jingle.
Oh, maybe! We aren't really sure where that tune comes from 😂
Jeez you two are such romantics... design some shelving while the kids are away and you're alone on date night... now if you were 2 decades younger 🤭 😉😂
Great video folks, thanks for the share, much love from another old married man in Scotland 😁
Hello over there! Thanks for the comment! Well,we could have spent the $150 and time on a nice dinner and a movie but what fun is that?!? 😉
@@retrorevivals He he he he yeah that's a good point 😂😂👍
… call Tyler and Christy … they’ll be your elves!
Hah, good one! Except, don't call us!!! We have enough on our plates, lol 😆
I need to make some shelves like that for my shop.
Well, if you aren't trying to record the process, you might be able to do it in under an hour. Good luck!
@@retrorevivals I think I have got caught up on all yor video's, I've enjoyed watching.
I can't help but notice how clean your working environment nothing has dirt or leaves, rain etc... on it, isn't it nice
New pole barn! We're hoping we can keep it pretty clean though! Thanks for the comment 🎉
👍👍👍👍👍👍💋
Thanks, Barbara ☺️
you should paint them. it should only take 10 minutes. lol
10 minutes tops 😂😂😂
