Kiev kotlet or Chicken Kiev or simply Deep fried butter wrapped in chicken is a slav dish made of breadcrumbs, eggs, some chicken and of course the lot of skill.
Is not very hard to make. Just make sure you do not cook them too long in the oven or they can start spilling the buttery mix from inside.
Serve with.. a fork.

I know no-one will see this, but I've watched this many times since it came out, but never made it. I filed it away with all the recipes I thought I wasnt skilled enough to make. Its been 3 or so years since this video came out, and for dinner tonight I made chicken kiev for my family.
I can't describe how proud I was when they said it was delicious. Everyone had seconds. I used to fuck up making ramen noodles and had to ask my mom to do it for me. Now I'm making gourmet food and work at a restaurant.
Thank you Boris. For teaching me nothing is impossible.

So I have watched this video a dozen times since it came out, but never had the nerves to do any of your recipes because I never trusted myself enough to do it, will probably taste like Chernobyl rainwater, I thought.
But then I recently met this lithuanian guy in a random night in Team Fortress 2, he was drinking while playing and invited me to do the same, he's an awesome guy.
For Christmas I was thinking on cooking something, and asked him for Slav recipes, and he sent your video.
It took me a random drunk lithuanian guy to encourage me to cook this, and I just did. And it tastes LIKE HEAVEN! It actually is the best stuff I have ever cooked!
So thank you, Boris, for this recipe, and thank you Lithuanian buddy for making me do it. Love from Brazil.

One trick i learned while working in the kitchen.. Instead of using the 'flour - eggs - bread crumbs' technique, combine the flour and eggs together and add some milk, mix until the consistency is like yogurt. Then you can dip the meat in the mixture, drain the excess and transfer directly into bread crumbs, submerge completely and press from all sides.
Not the original recipe but the result is the same, only better. The milk doesn't change the taste, the crust doesn't become soggy and doesn't crumble apart, it stays compact, crispy from outside and soft from inside. It's much faster and easier to prepare this way, less bowls and less mess... And you can easily double dip and repeat the process if you like a fat crust, although 1 layer should be already enough.

I made this while in quarantaine, honestley one of the best things ive ever eaten. I made the slavic deluxe wich is about double the size. I have the strength of a Ukranian bear now.

Chicken Kiev is one of my favorite dishes to order at a restaurant. Not only do I love it, but you can really judge the quality of the restaurant by it, since there are several steps which they can do poorly by being lazy - using minced meat instead of fillet, simply adding herbs and butter instead of making and re-freezing the mixture, not bothering with shaping the butter mixture, etc.
Also I really recommend using white breadcrumbs for your first time and not using any strong sause, like mayonnaise. Also the perfect side for the Chicken Kiev is mashed potatoes, since you can mix mash with the melted butter.

I miss Kvass, it's the traditional drink of my home country aswell. It's made basically the same as beer minus the alcohol long before non-alcoholic beers were a thing. It tastes so damn nice. Malty. Sweet. Like a mixture of mead and beer.
