Took me a great time longer then you I guess but I did it all step by step and it was a real reward to see the old girl pull like a train :) Thank you !!!!!
wow, this is a really good tutorial! I hope I will never have to use it though! I am looking at turbo vids as my 12 plate focus 1.6 tdci had some soot on the turbo. Actually there was a small amount and I wiped it off about 5000 miles and about 2 months ago and it did not come back, however it bugs me since if this is something to check out or should be fine. My better self tells me probably it wasn't designed this way meaning it must be faulty in some sort. I'll start to use the car extensively from next week and I rather go ahead of a problem than having the car breaking down on me.
Awesome detailed video my friend so hats off to you for all your efforts 💪👍 I just called ITS turbo's in Leeds and they mentioned the other essential component changes that you have like the feed pipes and the bango bolt but were also talking about a filter in the sump?? Can you enlighten me as I have the mk 2 focus on a 10 plate. I know this video was for a later model but I watched it anyway for the principal is very similar I believe
Cheers 👍, that " filter" they will be on about isnt an actual filter -I believe they mean the oil pump strainer, you could clean that out but unless your changing the turbo for catastrophic failure reasons it may be abit over the top, just make sure you completely drain the oil and replace with fresh
Do you need to tune it or can you just drop a new turbo straight in from factory? Also would it be worth my while putting a bigger turbo and bigger injectors with a bigger intercooler????? Any help would be appreciated
Can just the actuator be replaced without the garret turbo on this unit? Is this actuator vacuum operated but with an electronic position sensor built in?
Do you know the part number for the turbo or the actuator on it? Also, I have this same engine, on my mazda 3. Does yours shake a bit on shutdown? Like a shudder or something? IF not, what can be causing this?
What were the symptoms of turbo failure? I see it's redesigned 1.6tdci with 8V but anyway it looks very similar to shitty 16v from mk2.5 focus (2009.) which is killing me currently with unknown issue...
I baught a used 2006 c-max and after allmost a year the turbo went down.I replaced it with a new one(my mechanic) did everything they say you should do in order not to have the same problem again but guess what...after a month or so it happened again. They rebuild the turbo ..fit it and the next day the same thing. The next day...!!!!!#$$*&^.My mechanic doesn't seem to understand why this is happening...
I dont know the exact name but you will be able to find out and buy it at a main dealers parts department by asking for the turbo plastic intake pipe 👍
Do you have to adapt the actuator through computer after replacing ? I still get the same p2598 code turbo boost positioning sensor and limp mode. After switching the ignition on and off the problem dissapaears again. Anyone got any experience with this? Focus mk3 1.6 tdci 6 speed manual.
Did you actually check to make sure the boost vaccum pressure sensors are ok before replacing the turbo? as that may actually be your problem not the turbo... one is located under the turbo the pipework then goes round the engine past the oil filter around the back to another boost sensor... when you buy them from ford they come as a kit with the 2 sensors and pipework
This is one of the best repair videos that I have seen. Really great explanations with great footage of each step.
Thank you for a very good video, good to know about changing the oil return pipes too.

Glad I could help! Well done! And thanks for commenting 😁👍👍
By the way are the injectors on Mk3 1.6 tdci to be replaced only if they defect or they can be rebuild as well like the old Delphi ones ?
Just used this to fit my turbo. It's a great tutorial. Thanks buddy!
Thanks for the kind comment 👍 👍 👍

A great tutorial video. I’ll use a telescopic magnet in case I drop anything.
I’ll use my Swiss army penis

Came for the car, stay for the music.

Brilliant thank you
Çok teşekkür ederim. Tenkü
Mükümmel anlatım Teşekkürler
At 8min50secs they are dpf temp sensors. There are no llamda sensors on this engine.
you didnt remove sump and clean or replace oil pick up
I need to replace turbo on an 06 focus, what years of car can I use,and can I buy a turbo from 06 to 08,I'm buying second hand???

Hello would you take intercooler out and clean it if turbo has failed ?
Help me a lot thanks you
Does this engine have a gasket between the turbo and manifold?

To be honest It was a long while ago so I cant remember, id imagine it was as flat as a fart (no boost) whilst making noise possibly

Definetely the engineers which develeped the engine hated the mecanics...For a stud you have to get down the dpf...fuckk..
