Ok I've just brought the Seagate 5tb external hard drive, the Halo 1. Formatted it and as soon as I try to copy a game over it starts going crazy. Stops the transfer then says external hard drive ready, you can start the transfer again but within 5-10 seconds it stops again
Try power off your Xbox completely (press and hold power button for 10 seconds), plug in the hard drive to usb (make sure its set down on flat surface when you do that), then turn on your Xbox. See if that helps.

Quick Resume still works if you play from an external hard drive. For The full Series X/S capabilities you would need to use internal storage or the expansion card like the fast loading. You can transfer your games from external to internal if you want that.

Try power off your Xbox completely (press and hold power button for 10 seconds), plug in the hard drive to usb (make sure its set down on flat surface when you do that), then turn on your Xbox. See if that helps.
Got a 4TB Seagate Drive and I searched this up thank you
Edit: There is 1 flaw to it I don’t like it takes longer than usual to install the game
Yooo Uzumaki Naruto! Glad to help.

I got a 4 TB HARD DRIVE and for some reason it is not reading it and it only shows the original amount of gigabytes that is from the Xbox it self. Do you know how to fix this problem?
I have an issue and I can’t find any information on it.
My games have randomly started installing to both my internal storage, and my 4TB external seagate, including optimized games and I don’t know why.
It’s set up to where X|S games stay on internal and everything else goes to internal but even Black Ops 3 installed on the internal……
Any ideas?
Could be a bug or maybe you already had it there?
Recently got an xbox series s from my boss for christmas but since not a lot of storage me and brother thinking getting external hard drive. ^^ Eying seagates and Wd black
J still can't get it I cluck move or copy and my external hard drive doesn't show up. When I clicked it the only thing it said was "video, music and pictures" I don't know what to do I need more storage for games :(
Your hard drive must be formatted fo games and apps. Disbyou format it. Try unpluggin it and pluggin back in and it should ask if you want to format it. I have a video on my channel.
Does it affect about the quick resume and the fast loading?
Quick Resume still works if you play from an external hard drive. For The full Series X/S capabilities you would need to use internal storage or the expansion card like the fast loading. You can transfer your games from external to internal if you want that.
You have helped me with so many things, thx
If I transfer a game from my internal storage one s to an external ssd, do my game save get transferred too, or can I still play my game saves of my INTERNAL drive while the game is on the external ssd? Or do I have to start a new game for each transferred game? Thank you for any help with this.
saves are on the cloud, I believe they are saved internally until you completely delete them.
I own a xboxone s. With my Microsoft transfer cable i can't find (or use) my xbox360 250 GB hard drive in the storage menu ?
Dear oh dear.... i transfer to external HD put EHD onto the 2nd xbox and nothing (no files) Its formatted for xbox.
Or what should i do to play games from the EHD on 2nd xbox ??
There is a setting now for hard drives that will be used on other Xboxes.
When you transfer all the games let’s say would it transfer all the data as well. As I’m changing Xbox and I was wondering if I sign into my account on new console and then plug in external hard drive would it keep my games and data
No its doesn't, but the only reason it doesnt do that is because the save data is synced to the cloud.
Can the save states stored in the console be copied/moved to an external hard drive as well?
Ok so if I copy and then paste to my external HD will I then be able to delete them from my internal hard drive if my external is formatted to be able to play games from it?
Yes, but if they are series X/s games, you need to move them back to internal or move them to an expansion card to play.
@@FourNinjaToads so what will I have to do with call of duty
OK this is not exactly what I am looking for. I got to format my drive in fat 32 it seems. But also seems I can't put anything on there more than 4 gb. So how in the hell did you get those larger files on your drive?
format as ntfs. Did you partition your drive at some point?
Hey man my problem is I've formated the hard drive on my Xbox SX but now I can't use it on the PC!! It won't be recognised any more on windows. I just wanted to move an original old Xbox game as a ROM to my Xbox SX and try out if it works.
It's a little bit creepy can use the hard drive on the Xbox but not on the PC after the formation. Can you help me please?
You might need some special software to read the hard drive on PC, sorry.
I just switched to pc gaming and im tryna figure out how to install or copy or get all my progress in my new pc because i got xbox but i did re buy one game and signed into my xbox game pass account then the progress wasn't there like bro how can i transfer my xbox one x games to my new pc?
If we press copy then the storage that the games take up will be on both things that is what we don't want because on our Xbox we don't have enough storage to put it on the normal storage so we have to move it and it's not letting us that's what we mean
You need to format your hard drive for games and apps. Video on my channel.
So as long as they are on the harddrive thing you’ll still have your original game and saved data and all that?
The save data is on the cloud. You will have to open the game for it to sync to your new Xbox.
Please answer, if I move all my stuff to a Samsung internal SSD then take out my hdd and put in the SSD with my stuff will all my games and apps be on my Xbox so I don’t need to use a computer?
This is for moving from one Xbox to another Xbox. Not for PC to Xbox.
@@FourNinjaToads yeah internal xbox SSD if I do that does all the hdd data go to the xbox ssd
I accidentally put for media how do I undo that
Unplug it and then plug it back in??? And you should be able to choose again if not RUclips it and im sure there will be some videos on it
Does your games still save if you get a new external drive if you already have and old one that just died or doesn’t work?
Game saves are on the cloud too for most games.
Can anyone help me
My xbox s died it doesnt wanna work and i didnt movemy games to the hard drive
And i bought a series X,can i put the S hard drive in the series X

So let’s say that I have f13 (Friday the 13th) on the disc, and I copy it into the external then, I plug my external into my full digital Xbox, I can play it? Right?
I dont think it works that way.
@@donaldduck119 yup figured that out the hard way
I have an external storage on my xbox one s what do i do with when i get my series x as i want to transfer my xbox one games and data to it
I need help I just got my usb and I plug it in and it said I like needed to format it and I don’t know if that meant delete all my game progress so I just unplugged the portable external storage and then I watched a video on how to do it and now when I go to plug the usb in I don’t have that menu that pops up that says do you want to format it and I don’t know what to do I explained it the best I could
Yeah so formatting a hard drive will delete everything on it which is fine if its a new hard drive. Watch this ruclips.net/video/8f46Ifztgpk/видео.html
So i can basically before of delete a game get him in an hard disk so i don't have to download it again, just to copy him on the xbox right?
Yeah pretty much. You can also play from the external in most cases.
@@FourNinjaToads what a good feature for that one Who got a slow internet
Thank you dude I watched the video and it works thank you
Glad to help.
Hey I have the Xbox series s I bought a 2tb hard drive when I install a game that is new like mlb the show 21 it says you can download it but if you wanna play it I have to move it to my original storage do you know why is that ?
Its because its a current gen game and it needs the speed of the internal ssd.
Thanks for the help i was hoping i didn’t have to download them all again
Any idea if unplugging the hard drive extends the lifespan? Like is it better to unplug the hard drive when done playing? Or Is it best to have it plugged in at all times ?
I leave my hard drive on all the time. Im sure there are articles out there that discuss both sides. If you want your hard drive to turn off while your Xbox is off there is a setting for that.
Do i just plug it into the xbox series s or x and it will upload or do i have to upload it on my xbox one s and then plug it into the xbox series s and then my games with be on the xbox l really need to know
I bought a 4 TB sea gate hard drive and I only have like 12 games downloaded and every time I want to download a game it’s telling me to free up space from internal hard drive How am I still using internal storage when I formatted all games and apps to external hard drive ?????
Change default install location maybe. ruclips.net/video/1RIC7OAMjaI/видео.html
