@@SvennyMcG yes sorry your right they were since it says “upgrading” rather updating One more question sorry but woukd you happen to know if the data transfers or would I have to begin the game a new
Quick question since you responded! Did you ever have issues with backward compatible games (Xbox 360 games) transferring game data onto the series x from an Xbox one?
I don't recall any specific issues - as long as you're still using the same profile that originally loaded the games (and therefore received the license from the Microsoft Store) you should be good to go 👍
So i just got a series x yesterday by sheer luck. And have my account on the new series x as well as my old xbox. If i get the external HDD, i can plug it in my xbox one, transfer the games onto the external, then plug it into the series x, and download the games onto it from the external HDD, and be able to play? Just a bit confused and never used a external HDD and don't want to mess up. :) also another question, I did a network transfer that i could only transfer specific games not all of mine just a small handful. I did so i was able to play one due to it being a free game but not the other, is it because i have to manually transfer the entire game over by HDD? Or because one was a free game and the other was a purchased one? Thankyou, sorry for the long comment!
Congrats on the new console! And no problem - I'll try to answer as best I can! If you pick up an external HDD, plug it into your XB1 and transfer any games to it, then plug it into your Series X, yes, you will find them there without issue - just make sure you use the same Xbox Live account. The DRM (digital rights management) will confirm the game is yours and you'll be good to go, no need to re-download anything. Note that you can "copy" the games instead of move them so you can play them on both systems if you want (you just can't play them at the same time). And if you set your profile to cloud saves, you can pick up wherever you left off on either console. If you decide to not use an external HDD, you always have the option to re-download any game you've purchased from the Microsoft Store on your Series X, again, provided you use the same Xbox Live account. Hope this helps and if you need assistance just ask! Thanks for watching :)
@@SvennyMcG Thank you so much 😭 reading this made me realize that I bought a lot of my games on my old account digitally, rather than my new account that I've had for a year and a half so i forgot about it. Awesome! Never a silly question, we all learn together! Glad you got your games up and running 🙌 I was surprised at simply how fast the Series X boots up and loads games. Hope you enjoy it & glad you liked the joke 😁
I have checked each of my disc games for Xbox, they are compatible, so if I transfer the external HDD to it along with the dlc's will they still work on the series x? And I have a Seagate Xbox HDD.
@@SvennyMcG thanks man. Oh and by the way, most of my games are Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox one x enhanced, and only two of them are Xbox series x optimized, so those will carry over.
Yeah it's pretty great, they made sure anything compatible with Xbox One will be compatible on Xbox Series X (outside of Kinect games etc). The Series X optimized games will require you to transfer to the internal SSD, but that transfer is faster than re-downloading so still pretty great 😊
If you have Xbox Live Gold your saves can be saved to the cloud for free - when you boot your games on the Series X you can access your saves through your profile 😊👍
I got the same external HDD nd i transfer all of my Xbox One games to my Series S i jus wanna know can my games still update off the external without having to update anything off my internal. Then i got 7 games on my internal nd like 26 games on my external. I wanna put all of my games on the external without puttin games on internal. I need help wit this bad bad💯💯💯💯
Yes, all games can update on either the internal SSD or the external HDD 👍 The 7 games you have on there - do they say they're "optimized"? Some games require you to run on the SSD simply for performance. That said, you can transfer games back and forth from internal to external to store them when not playing them and that's quicker than redownloding each time.
The Series X will prompt you - sometimes it seems to be mandatory to move to play whereas other times it gives you a performance message indicating that it will play better on the internal SSD
What about existing Xbox One games already saved on the External hard drive, I have no games saved on my internal storage drive on my Xbox One. Can I unplug it from the Xbox One and plug it into the Series X directly and will everything still be intact without the hassle of re-formating again.
Yes, it should! If the games are on the external HDD and you put your gamer profile on the Series X everything should pull over. Your saves (progress) may be cloud saves so having the profile is required
If the game is fully on the HDD then you don't need Internet to move it and play it 👍 If the game generally has DRM and needs an internet connection to play then you'll need it to play as usual.
Not necessarily; Xbox was going to make the console "check-in" initially but they backed off. So in your situation if you have the game downloaded on the console you can move it from console to external drive without internet connection and play 👍
Yeah but you end up wasting space ,it leaves copies on both the internal ssd ,and your external HHD, unlike the Xbox one which used either the internal or external drives with a single copy of each game..it’s a freaking dumb system..you can not play directly off of your external drives…so I bought over 5tbs of games with additional 3tbs of space on my external HDD, which copied 1 TB of internal SSD space up instantly leaving me with no way to play all my games , so you have to transfer your games back and forth as it will only play the games that are on the internal SSD drive, unlike the Xbox one which allowed you to play all of your games anytime you wanted to,,..I was selling my Xbox one, until I saw this issue..I spent 800$ bucks for a game which may load my games faster but only allows up to a total of 3tbs of games if you spend another 350 bucks for their own SSD drives ..so basically all the hype over this new console was correct to a point, I’ve got probably another 250 games I’d like to have on my drives as my Xbox 360 crashed leaving me with 150 360 games I love and would like to be able to play as well, but can’t due to the amount of storage space it takes up, which again is double as it takes two copies of each game, meaning you need 200gbs of space for a single copy of COD call of duty to play it..yes because it leaves the original 100gbs of space used up even if you transfer the game to the internal SSD drive otherwise you can’t transfer it back, so again it’s another example of Microsoft moving forward with poor designs.l
@@SvennyMcG there is also Constant problems with the Microsoft store saying it needs the original owner to play your digital games, it’s why I hate all of this ,doing away with discs, to simply increase the sales of the Microsoft store, which has killed companies like game stop, which we all loved to go and pick out our discs ,which also gave us away to sell old games, moving to Digital downloads sucks because you basically cannot monetize your own property, like you can with discs, someone needs to sue the Microsoft store, as it has planned this simply to grow its own business by controlling what it sales even after the fact and putting GameStop out of business as a byproduct of its own sales....if you buy a product,it should become the buyers to do with as they please, it shouldn’t be retained by the seller, blocking the buyer from selling or transferring their property to a family member or even donating or giving it away on top of selling it to recoup the value they have in their games..
The licensing stinks for sure but it's the way it is, you either buy it from the digital store or use a disc as proof of payment to then download it from the digital store. At least used discs can generally be found for less than buying digitally 👍

Hi! If your save files are on the hard drive of the Xbox One you should be able to insert a flash drive and copy them over (see if you can copy instead of move outright instead in case there's an issue). Otherwise if you have an Xbox Live profile your saves should automatically cloud; when you log into the Series X and insert the disc your saves should appear

I had no clue you could take an external hard drive from an Xbox one and connect it to a series X. I just think of the older days of gaming they would probably classify this as piracy and not let you do it or there'd be some kind of encryption on a game where it would only work on that one system. the Nintendo Wii SD cards were like that Also had no clue the Sirius X did not have Kinect support I Love the look on your face when you said can't wait to play Kinect LoL
Yeah, it's insane how easy the process is these days! As long as you use the same account you're good. I recall the Wii issue too. Yes, the Kinect is definitely a thing of the past. All joking aside, I think it's great for online play and voice services, it's how we have been communicating with others when playing Fortnite and starting a private group with friends.
Your not sharing the fact that it uses up space on my drives ,and won’t play directly off of your external drives, your making it seem like there isn’t any issues with the new X/S console ..sure it plays faster, and it may even look a tiny bit better but basically we are paying for a faster console which needs twice the space for each game, as it requires double the space for each game, and again if you have the last 3 COD games you need 600gbs of space not including the updates simply to play all 3 anytime you want ..why as it need to leave a copy on both drives to transfer it back and forth, unlike Xbox one which simply move a single copy back and forth granted it took longer , but if you used a SSD with your Xbox one it helped with the speed but it didn’t need to transfer the whole game to simply play anyone of say in my case 150 games I’ve got stored unlike the X/S…bad design

Worlds may be locked but from what I've read it says if you transfer your world to Realms you can download it on the new console. I haven't tested this so tread carefully
@@SvennyMcG I just got it and checked. Worlds do sync over but it takes a min
Oh awesome, thanks for confirming! Did they come over through your profile or did you have to do the Realms method?
You're a legend sir
Thanks for watching! 😊🙌
This Was…PERFECT MAN IT HELPED ME ALOT THANKYOU SO MUCH!!!!!
Awesome, happy to help! 🙌 Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching and happy gaming!
What happens if you lost the gmail for an account can I still use the games
I think you'll have to contact Microsoft as all purchases would be tied to the account
@@SvennyMcG thank you 😊
Hope you get it sorted out! 🙌🎮
does my new xbox have to be at the same house
Hi! I can't confirm directly but I don't think that's an issue. If you bring your HDD to a different Xbox and log in with your Xbox profile I think it will be okay. If you try it let me know! 😊👍
I did everything and followed each step but now I have to update every single game I have in my external hard drive that I copied from my Xbox one x
Glad they are recognized! Perhaps they're slight updates but if you came from an original Xbox One or Xbox One S they may be the optimized versions only available for the Xbox One X or Series S/X consoles
@@SvennyMcG yes sorry your right they were since it says “upgrading” rather updating
One more question sorry but woukd you happen to know if the data transfers or would I have to begin the game a new
Should just transfer right over! The save files should either be on the drive or cloud and will be picked up by your account 😊
Great video very clear thank you sir
Happy to help 😊 Thanks for watching
Quick question since you responded! Did you ever have issues with backward compatible games (Xbox 360 games) transferring game data onto the series x from an Xbox one?
I don't recall any specific issues - as long as you're still using the same profile that originally loaded the games (and therefore received the license from the Microsoft Store) you should be good to go 👍
Awesome dude thanks again
You bet! Happy gaming pal 🎮
As soon as i brought my old account over they came as well, so it was a dumb part on me lol. Thank you so much though, I'm extremely relieved. 😇 also the xbox kinect joke was funny and very much appreciated 😂
Awesome! Never a silly question, we all learn together! Glad you got your games up and running 🙌 I was surprised at simply how fast the Series X boots up and loads games. Hope you enjoy it & glad you liked the joke 😁
Do you need internet for them to be optimized
I don't believe you do for continuous play but if it's a licensed game it may need to connect due to the digital rights management
Will copying a game to an external storage device also copy save data to that device?
If you have a Live account your saves will be in the cloud and should be accessible once you log in 👍
Bro i copy game from my series s in hdd and i copy to another series s but bro the game is not showing bro Sulotion
Are you using the same profile when on the HDD? If you bought it with one profile you'll need to be in that profile to use it
I have checked each of my disc games for Xbox, they are compatible, so if I transfer the external HDD to it along with the dlc's will they still work on the series x? And I have a Seagate Xbox HDD.
You bet! As long as you log in with the same profile all your content will be there 👍
@@SvennyMcG thanks man.
The Series X optimized games will require you to transfer to the internal SSD, but that transfer is faster than re-downloading so still pretty great 😊
Hey if I transfer my games from my old xbox via an external storage to a series x will it save my game data?
If you have Xbox Live Gold your saves can be saved to the cloud for free - when you boot your games on the Series X you can access your saves through your profile 😊👍
@@SvennyMcG Thanks! I haven't done anything like this before so I just needed confirmation 😁
No problem, happy to help! 😊👍
@@SvennyMcG yes the 7 games are optimized with Series X|S
Okay. You can move those games to the external drive to store them there but when you want to play them you just have to move them back
I transfer all of my ganes to my external but i hope it'll work bc sometimes it'll tell me to free up space nd i have like 1.2TB left
Wait so if i took my eternal hardrive from my one s to a series x all the game will update to the series x or do i have to move them to the series x?
The Series X will prompt you - sometimes it seems to be mandatory to move to play whereas other times it gives you a performance message indicating that it will play better on the internal SSD
@@SvennyMcG alright thx
You bet! 👍
If I transfer a game from the HDD to the xbox but without internet will the game works ?
If the game is fully on the HDD then you don't need Internet to move it and play it 👍
If the game generally has DRM and needs an internet connection to play then you'll need it to play as usual.
@@SvennyMcG I didn't understand the part of a game having drm like how ?
Is it a games that's a story single player need an internet to play ?
Not necessarily; Xbox was going to make the console "check-in" initially but they backed off.
So in your situation if you have the game downloaded on the console you can move it from console to external drive without internet connection and play 👍
Very helpfull,,now I'm convinced
Awesome! I thought this may be helpful and it's definitely an easy transition. Thanks for watching!
The problem is now I end up with using double the storage space with the new Xbox x/s which sucks..
Games are definitely bigger but if it doesn't require the SSD for performance I don't bother to move it over from the external HDD
What a great video thank you, you seem like a very great person irl as well LOL
Thank you, appreciate your kind words! As for life off camera I do try to be humble and helpful as best I can 😊 Thanks for watching!
So can I take my disc games to my series s?
Unfortunately I believe they'll require the disc to check the license, so I don't believe they will transfer over. Digital games will though
As I mentioned, 360 games can be played off of the external HDD without having to move to the internal SSD
The licensing stinks for sure but it's the way it is, you either buy it from the digital store or use a disc as proof of payment to then download it from the digital store. At least used discs can generally be found for less than buying digitally 👍
I dont have digital games and i don't care about moving applications. all i want to do is take my game save progress files from xbox one and move to xbox series x. can i do this with a flash drive? i am not good with this type of stuff. can you explain just that or make video of that?
@@SvennyMcG Thanks for info. I dont do anything online. So i hope the flash drive will work. I have an old one here. Would i have to erase everything on it? or format it? I am a little "slow" with computer stuff. I am lucky that i can even play games. Lol. If you could make a video doing this that would be great??? I am sure there are other people as computer illiterate as me too. I just put the flash drive in my regular computer to erase and format it. Hopefully that is same format needed on Xbox??? I am think it is since it is Microsoft. My old Xbox is at my brother house so have to wait til i go there to do this but if it work i can sell it. I only kept it because i did not want to start games all over from begining that i started on it.
I hear you my friend, and I don't gatekeep here - everyone has different levels of understanding and in the end we all just want to game 😊🎮 I'll definitely keep it in mind for a future video 👍
So all I have to do is put my games on my hardrive then plug it Into my series x and all my games will be there
Yes! As long as you sign in with the same profile, you should be good to go! 👍
Aye man! Cool Video! :>
Thanks! Hope it's helpful to the gaming community
@@SvennyMcG, I think it is helpful
😊 Thanks pal!
@@SvennyMcG, you are welcome
By the way- do you play Minecraft on the xbox
I had no clue you could take an external hard drive from an Xbox one and connect it to a series X. I just think of the older days of gaming they would probably classify this as piracy and not let you do it or there'd be some kind of encryption on a game where it would only work on that one system. the Nintendo Wii SD cards were like that
Also had no clue the Sirius X did not have Kinect support
I Love the look on your face when you said can't wait to play Kinect LoL
Yeah, it's insane how easy the process is these days! As long as you use the same account you're good. I recall the Wii issue too.
Yes, the Kinect is definitely a thing of the past. All joking aside, I think it's great for online play and voice services, it's how we have been communicating with others when playing Fortnite and starting a private group with friends.
I have my girlfriends hard drive. I’m tryna copy or transfer a game from that to my Xbox. Can I?
You should be able to copy but I'm wagering you won't be able to play it unless you have her profile on your Xbox
@@SvennyMcG yeah I just seen it when I googled it. Sucks. Haha. I’ll have to try remember my password and just game share. Thanks for replying bud
You bet 🙌
Hi! Some games require the SSD for performance but backwards compatible Xbox / Xbox 360 / Xbox One games can be played from the external drive 👍
