Maybe Pericles is better than Kristina because of the acropoli that give unbelievable adjacency+ envoys upon construction as well as Pericles’ abilities: 1 extra wildcard slot and +5% culture per city-state Pericles is suzerain of. Hoplites keep you defended pretty well early on, you can unlock powerful policies sooner than everyone and spam future civic which gives 50 diplomatic favor every time it is completed. If you combine this with wonders such as Apadana and Kilwa, you’re in for a demolition of all the others players (AI or not), not to mention the Owls of Minerva secret society

One of the best victories i achieved in civ vi was a diplo victory as hungary
Levying the military of city-states literally means you have a reliable source of diplo favor that gets way better as u progress through the game

I tried to achieve a Diplo victory with Tamar on immortal. It happened I only met my first city state on late classical era. No first meets, obviously. 😐
By the start of the Renaissance, however, I was suzerain to almost every city state in the world. 🤑
Having a Tsikhe in every city, I was making 50+ Diplo favour per turn. 😁
But all those Tsikhes and chained golden ages led me to win a culture victory. 😒

    The baseline strat for Tamar:
Take up a religion asap. Every game i've played with Tamar is usually mountain biased so barbarians arent much of an issue with a few archers, and its very easy to get a +4 holy site. Ignore stonehenge, just use your prayers to spam out prophet points. Get a settler over near a coast as well.
Grab your religion and get the envoy when first converted belief. With your first diplomatic card that doubles the first envoy you send to somewhere, you can get 5 envoys in a new city state your missionary found that no one else did yet, or 3 if someone did find them, when you first convert the city state.
Remember when I said you need to find and settle coast asap? That's because we need to build a specific wonder that you get from Machinery: Kilwa kisiwani. In case you happened to not know what that does, if you're suzarain of a city state, it boosts their bonus by 15% in the city Kilwa is built in. If you are suzarain of 2 city states that are of the same color, this is boosted to affect your entire empire, which will then also give the founded city +30% boost. You are a civ... that can potentially get an immediate +5 envoys to any city state no one else has met. This is perhaps the most valuble wonder you have access to that most people would never bother to look at, specially when you have to pour resources into faith and walls. What this also means is, depending on your game's city states, you can potentially have a japan like gameplan switch for later. Tonnes of science and production city states? Well looks like you have robots on mars. Tonnes of Trading and Culture city states? Did you know walls provide tourism by chance?
The next most valuable wonder for you is a very late wonder, unlocked in Sanitation. The Országház. Its a simple wonder absolutely no one else will ever build unless they are also trying to win diplomatic victory. It simply doubles your diplomatic victory points if you're suzarian of a city state. +4 culture too. Not all that impressive to anyone not going for this victory type.
A good mention for the wonders list is the Apadana. The AI will probably build this unless you get a god mountain bias spawn full of trees, but it is pretty damn good to have to make sure absolutely no one can challenge your envoy generation. Considering you should also be investing into the mahudobi temple for the free +1 diplomatic victory point, and the statue of liberty for the +...4 victory points, you're going to be wonder making for a bit.
Don't forget, you are a religion based civ. Your unique wall gives faith. Have a wide nation and you can easily slap out 30+ faith just for making a simple wall. So, when the city state Valleta is in the game, make damn sure you have suzarian of them. Treat Valleta as if it were your capital city, until you have bought your walls via faith. After that they are simply a gold source for your diplomatic card that gives +1 gold per envoy.
In the end, you should be generating enough diplomatic points to guarantee at least 1 of the 2-3 options go your way. Just be mindful of people that dont care about city states. They can just kill the city states cutting off your supply. This makes it a good idea to try to keep your closest city states well within the range of your own units. With your walls and faith generation to spam out military units via faith, the city states are absurdely more reliable to attack than you, and harm you far more than a hard fought player v player military scenario. Specially since you have a bias for hills, mountains, and have a unique unit that gains CS when on one of said hills.
Tamar can go for religious victory as well in cases where Greece players climb out of their crawl space to see the warming sun, and Canada starts making snow cones. Dont eat the lemon ones.
Everything else is on you, but this is a baseline thing to go for to start actually gaining success with Tamar, instead of bumbling around sending missionaries about aimlessly, and wasting your envoys on things.

Good plan and strategy which I will try today.
As much as I am a loyal Canuck ( Canadian ) I want to try a different Civ and strategy. It is -26 C where I am now and as much as I love the GWN ( Great White North ) snow and cold can get boring.😒

I’m surprised Tamar is not in the top three here and only an honorable mention. With Monarchy/Tsikhe, pagodas, and lots of Envoys for suzerainty, she can make a ton of DF long before Wilfred’s tourism advantage kicks in.

I think the Netherlands also makes for a good diplo civ. They get a boost for international trade routes. Lots of gold with polders to buy favour and Grote Rivieren gives a boost to all districts next to rivers which is usefull for diplo as you tend to be quite varried district wise for the various competitions.

    You forgot two things:
    * Mountees can also be bought with gold.
    * Tamar can also double envoys (like RR Teddy) if a city-state has her majority religion.

    • @mkmasterthreesixfive
      @mkmasterthreesixfive 2 года назад

Also the fact that you can pump out religious units with all those special wall faith bonuses, and they ignore borders so you can get them anywhere you want them to in the world. Build the wonder that gives your apostles relics upon deth and people might think twice about using their own religious units to stop them.

I think Tamar is slightly better than Wilfred at diplo, 100 tourism is a lot early game, and you're never really gonna earn a lot of diplo favor this way unless you have enough culture to win the game through culture. Double diplo favor from competitions means you'll get around 200 diplo favor per completing these which is a fair amount, but competitions don't happen early game, and getting a good number of emergincies is luck-based. Tamar can get a pretty good amount of diplo favor because she can get suzerainity of city states very easily, providing her a solid flow of diplo favor.

I’d argue Canada might be one of the worst civs at diplo victory. If you are placing a ton of national parks and don’t win culture before winning diplo, something has gone very wrong with your game.

diplomatic victory seems to rely a lot on luck... because if you have too many points, victory resolutions will go against you every time and you will at best break even.

Just vote with them. +1 point. Then, use yourm assive point gain to ensure you get your result for the other 2 results. +2 points. You'll get a net gain of +1. And dont forget about the wonders in the game that give +1 diplomatic victory point.

Mansa Musa, because he generates so much gold he can buy whatever buildings, units or great people he wants (especially buying districts with Reyna)
And he can also go for religion because he nearly always gets the first pantheon.
