Ali G is funny because it's true, truer than most people realize. I grew up in central London surrounded by guys like this. They're real, they exist, and they are frighteningly similar to Mr. G in outlook, intelligence and attitude.
And that is why Sacha Baron Cohen is bonafide 'G'. Because he's nailed it.
