- If you are looking for the best Hungarian food and quality service along with spectacular atmosphere, with traditional folk music playing in the background while you enjoy your food.. This is the place to be.. Sári Csárda! Satisfaction at its fullest. In this video I had arrived in a village at a beautiful wooden Hungarian restaurant with horses on the fields and so much open space and greenery. I wasin search for a traditional Hungarian experience and I believe I sure did find the right place. The exterior and interior was absolutely eye catching. I realised inside the restaurant had some Hungarian decorations. For starters I ordered a traditional Hungarian Goulash beef soup which was really creamy and rich, the beef was absolutely delicious. For my main course I had ordered duck which was actually the best duck I ever tried. The meat was so soft, juicy and tender served with kapusta (red cabbage) with mashed potatoes and creamy sauce, the presentation of the food was outstanding. I had a Hungarian beer called Dreher and shot of their traditional peach palinka (brandy). While I was enjoying my meal I was listening to traditional Hungarian music which they were playing on background and that also gave it a traditional Hungarian feeling.

Have you recruited a cameran on the spot for some of the scenes during lunch? :D I noticed the two 0.3 beers on your bill as well, perhaps that was the deal with the person.
I dont know about the sauce in the duck dish, but the cabbage was steamed with apple so you were right about the fruity flavour. Also this type of mashed potato is a bit different instead of mixing the boiled potato with butter, they toast onion on duck or goose fat and use that instead of the butter in the mix.
@@szkokee Én is azt néztem, hogy felszámoltak neki két 0,3-as Dreher-t de a videóban nincs bent. Illetve van még egy 950 Ft-os díj ami nem tudom mi, olyan mintha valami fél adag lenne.

I taught myself Hungarian and I have been learning it for 19 years because of Ocsi es Aranycsapat they are my heros. I was good friends with Grosics and Buzanszky and I used to met them. Ok az en hoseim es ez volt eletem legcsodalatosabb napja, amikor talalkoztam veluk.
16 eves voltam akkor es kizarolag miattuk tanultam meg Magyarul :) Sok szeretettel Irorszagbol.

Actually that wasn't a lake, it's the Danube. The "csarda" is old style of restaurants, based on straw roofed mud houses, with very traditional food only. Sari csarda is one of the biggest and oldest in the region.

ACTUALLY it's the backwater of Danube, called Zátonyi-Duna. So technically it is more of a long lake than a river...

Hey mate! I'm from Esztergom, Hungary, just across the border from Sturovo. Esztergom is a lovely place for a bike trip too, you'll find restaurants like this one there too and if you get on top of the city (to Bazilika for example) you'll have a perfect view to your own country. :) I'll say it's worth a trip if you are nearby. @@HarleyDavidsonRoute66 German food can't compare in any way (and Curry Wurst is no discussion neither), Czech food maybe, but not in sense of spices and taste... I'd say Hungarian is on podium with Italian and... French/ Greek, maybe Spanish, if we are talking Europe.

As for pálinka, that shall be the very first starter, as it makes space in the stomach before having eating!
and it was really nice of him to offer peach as that is one of the most tasty palinkas. I was expecting him to offer törköly.. ppl in restaurants usually offer the worst of the worst for tourists who don't know any better

@@darcyroyce Hard, but logical and simple in some instances. Apart from that, we Slavs have the advantage of having a lot of words of Slavic origin in Hungarian, which can help us on our language journey, I mentioned that very curiosity in my vlog as well.

@@AndreTraveler True we have a few nice beers but Hungary is more of a wine nation. For such experience if you got a chance try to visit the "Szépasszony-völgy" in Eger, or the town of Etyek which is somewhat close to Budapest to the west.
Drinking a big shot of hungarian pálinka, and being able to talk instantly after that. You're officially one of us!

Andre, the hooks on the big wooden pole are not for bikes, they hang dead pig there and cook it in the small place with wood ovens.

Very big portions, soup also. Im very surprised. Looks veery delicious. Gulas soup with bread is regular main dish and many people eat only gulas soup for lunch, because is very rich of ingredience. You ate 2 times main dish 😀 i trust you, i imagine, you must be veeery full... My next steps would be chill and joint after that meal 😀

Saying thank you in shops, restaurants and other places like these is a Hungarian tradition.
As a Hungarian visited Sári csárda once, I can recommend it too :) For more traditional drink I recommend a starting Pálinka and then a good wine at this place. The beer Dreher is a very average beer, there are much better smaller breweries if you want to go for beer.
Big mistake not to order Halaszle (Fish Soup) at that restaurant as it is amaaaaaazing. :D

@@haggaimmotta4895 if you do, my recommendation about food is: ask about the restaurants and don't go to the biggest names, try smaller ones, because they are more authentic and serve bigger portions most of the times. I think even here, you could get some really good suggestions 😊 we are happy to help!😊

Csárda is pronounced “cha arda” and Sári is “Shari”, so it is “Shari cha arda” 🙂, there’s no pause between “cha” and “arda”. Csárda originally was a pub with a kitchen that specialised on a small selection of food and the difference beteween a kocsma (pub) and a csárda is csárda was always on the side of roads between towns, while kocsma was always in towns. Csárda was mainly for travellers and they had stalls for horses. And also, that wasn’t mash potato, it was crushed potato with onion. I am happy to answer anything, in return I just want to know - if you are Jamaican - where can I eat proper ital food in London 😆
a magyar kocsma nem egyenlo az angol pub-al. a pub meleg etelt is szolgal az ital mellett, nemelyik kulon reggeli es esti menuvel szolgal es sok helyen meg szobak is vannak amiket ki lehet venni. nagyon keves az a pub ahol csak inni lehet es keves az a kocsma ahol megfelelo minosegu etelt is lehet rendelni. A pub inkabb a regi magyar fogado-hoz all kozelebb szerintem. nagyon jo jamaikai etelt szerencere nagyon sok helyen lehet kapni Londonban. Az egyik legkedvencebb etelem a vilagon a jerk chicken es curry goat, I recommend.

@@Attixxxx Ha jól látom, úgy húzták le, hogy kettő 0,3 l és szintén kettő 0,5 liter sört szmláztak ki neki, noha csak összesen kettő (és nem 2x2=4) sört ivott....Ld. a számlát 28:43 -nál. Szomorú. A kaja amúgy tényleg nagyon jól nézett ki.

@@HarleyDavidsonRoute66 it depends in what time of the day you visit. You could see that it was booked for later. Thats why he said that he couldnt sit at those tables.
This restaurant and its surroundings in Hungary remind me of some wine estates in South Africa. They usually have similar buildings with whitewashed walls and a thatched roof, and some also have a lake. A good example would be the Spier wine estate in Stellenbosch.
