No, I wouldn't, even though I have 2 Avata's, it just doesn't seem worth the trouble and doesn't fulfill a need in my work flow.
I would love to have more power on my Avata but this kit seems like its just too much work and parts.

I'd do it just to say I could, if I was really invested in the Avata ecosystem, otherwise I'd grab a Cinebot30.

I'm so glad I did the upgrade. It's a night and day difference. Zero tumble, the power is insane and it's more quiet. I'm also happy your Bad Idea mount still fits. I would without a doubt do it again. Definitely not worth it if your concern is cost or the warranty. That wasn't an issue for me, I just wanted a better flying Avata. I didn't fly it at all before, now I take it with me every time I go out flying.

If it ain't broke....don't fix it. For the cost of the Avata plus the conversion kit....and the fact that it voids all warranties...for me, it's just not worth it. Great video, Ken!!!

Just a good heads up. For the Camera Gummies, they can be a bear to install on the 3.5 frame. To ease them in, use some dish soap on a q-tip and get the gummy and the hole. Will slide right in.

Hey Ken hope all is well. this drone has eat its spanich and what a difference it all makes. The speed, take off trust and handling the drone in windy weather etc. It's a pity you have to make all these changes to it...and as a beginners id be lost but would love to learn how to do it. I got these motor way back and did nothing with them. But love the whole fpv world and how you fly these drones as to my mini 2.I couldn't handle the simulator and I prefer flying in a big open field at the moment to learn as a beginner. great video ken on this & great your knocking out the video again after a busy time. take care have a good weekend.
Nice content as always :) I´ve ordered the Axis kit already but I was wondering if I can solder the new motors on the original wires instead of doing it on the ESC board. I have limited skills when it comes to soldering and I would be way more confortable that way. Is it possible to do so? Great thanks my friend

I had the same problems with mine. Even after replacing the ESC, I still can't fly. Been grounded for months. Put the thing together and back apart so many times i ended up stripping a motor screw and having to drill it out. $150 upgrade to make a 1k drone useless. Gonna end up having to sell for parts
Make sure you put the props on the right way i had mine the wrong way the first time and once i flips them it worked perfect and was quite ass hell
Did you experience frame in view if you keep the camera angle below 20 degree in manual mode?

It’s a dope conversion but a pain in the ass to do. I wish it’s how it flew straight from DJI. If I had to do it again, I’d sell the Avata and buy an Axis C35.
I made the modifications to my avata, but when trying to fly it doesn't take off, I think it's because I don't know how to put the ellipses correctly, any suggestions?
If I understand this correctly, this mod affects mostly manual mode. In normal and sport mode there is no difference, is there? In manual it seems to fly just like any other 3.5 inch cinewhoop, like Cinelog 35 or Axisflying C35. If that is the case, I think it makes not much sense to do it, especially if you own a cinewhoop already. But even if you dont, you can get one, with 03, for not much more money than the mod cost (in money, time, possible burnt ESCs, imperfect soldering, etc). It would be great for those who want a project.

I had so many issues with my conversion, even had to take apart several times to troubleshoot but it was SO worth it to me. Now running the GoPro Bones to capture much better video and the confidence I have with the more power without worrying about the dreaded tumble is worth it to me.
i just finished building it and no success... two of the motors won't move when i plug the battery in. do you think i burnt an esc and need to replace it?
So, according to access Flying, they recommend not soldering directly to the ESC, I had to replace the ESC on this already once

The reason people do this is because of the tumble issue, you got used to fly the avata and the warranty is not an issue anymore, I think the upgrade is worth it Or get a 5 inch quad with O3 system installed.
How did you make the port to power the gopro?
I feel like this is an actual win if you want to fly fast with an action cam but dont want to lose DJI's firmware/software. Now if only we could use modules for different controllers.

Hi, Ken. Seems like a cool setup, but the reduction in flight may or may not be worth it. If you crash the Avata and have to send it in, that is going to be a fun disassemble. Will you completely lose DJI Care Refresh in this setup as well?

on mine without the go pro we get 3 mins less - but we are ripping it harder
I still cannot find a comfortable fit position for the Goggles II. The nose fit keeps it propped so it always is uncomfortable. Has there been any others that find this?
Yes, god i hate the goggles 2. Sold mine to stick with goggles V2 (terrible naming thanks DJI). At least there are decent foam upgrades for the V2 that make them very comfortable and they work with everything from Avata to O3 naked to dji digital and more and you can get a pair for a 1/3 of the goggles 2 price. Just my personal experience. Was shocked at how bad the fit of the goggles 2 was, shockingly bad!

The avata is strictly a beginner drone unless you do the upgrade. It’s super slow and can’t handle 15mph winds. I really wish I didn’t buy this thing 😂 I hate all the flight restriction stuff too

Yeah na, I think I will pass. Better to build my own or get another BNF or just leave the thing the way it is like you said. It does seem to scoot along much better now

Building sounds cool, but I will miss the flight time and smart battteries. The modded avata still has that going for it over a build. Lipo management is scary to us noobs

Hi everyone. I’m having issues with the installation. I’m getting a battery communication error and says my battery is 0% when it’s actually charged. I’ve checked to see if smaller battery wires are mixed but they are correct. What could be the issue? Thank you
I had to replace the ESC the first time sadly. Pro tip solder to the wires or just crimp to the wires not the board it’s self

Does the Avata make sense as a business purchase for a professional real estate videographer? So far I use an Air2s to fly up to the door and then transition to a gimbal. I can't tell if FPV will really help my business grow.
It’s better to use a smaller quad in doors , the Avata when not flown in manual can lead to unpredictable results
I Used it as a backup for indoors. It's a bit sketchy though. the main thing that bothers me is the linear throttle. I setup my cinewhoops with plentey EXPO on the throttle, i also lower the throttle percentage. The Avata doesn't have that option, plus if you're near an Airport you can't fly even indoors. So for me it could never be my primary real estate rig. I also film outdoor fitness video. The Avata is perfect fot that, especially with the axis flying upgrade. Normal mode and a longer battery life lets me camp out in the air while the subjects setup for the shot.

Well I have an Avata laying around that I dont fly anymore and so far I dont own another/better cinewhoop, so I think for me its worth it.
Gopro footage not as clear as should be , vibration ? Viewing on my Imac full screen, i see significant pixl or jello / center screen in the footage over the grass . My Avata does not do this.

We did this but used t motors instead. I will say, this is def an advanced solder job. We bypassed the board by splice method you mentioned.
It’s still underpowered after a few mins with a full size GoPro.
Added the bones and can get 7 mins of moderate 50% throttle battery life before you reach 25% and power band falls off
I will say. It’s the best beginner fpv you can get that is liON
I would recommend skipping for most people and going right to a 3-3.5 in pre build whoop
Overall, This was fun and will 100% be used as a backup and for scouting

Great video but I thought the entire purpose of the Integra Goggles was the built-in battery and you don't need to connect your phone anymore for remote ID ?
Also, what do you think the max speed is with the conversion kit without the Gopro ? Looks like you maxed out at 14m/s which is around 30mph.

I thought it would be the best of both worlds. Dji safety features, power and more than 3 minute flight times. As I watch other reviews I see 8-9 minute flight times. Are you saying this is not the case? You never mentioned your flight time on the second battery.
You are lucky to get 6mins of flight. The upgrade overall isn’t worth the minimal improvements
Yeah, I don’t think it’s a wise “mod”. Why bother? If i’m buying an avata, it’s not because I want to build/tinker. So, if I did want to build/tinker, I certainly wouldn’t buy a pre-built proprietary drone! I would just build one, as I’ve done before.

That’s hero 11 mini there isn’t anything off it’s stabilized via reel steady.

@@OriginaldoBo I was thinking there was a problem with the mini 11, I have my normal hero 11 on the avata and never shows that amount of chop with NDs on. Would you try a normal hero 11 on it? Or maybe try the mini 11 on an non modded avata? I'd love to see the comparison (if you feel this is a vid worth making tho). Btw, which pgytech bag pack is that one, I got the onemo, looks like it, but mine opens horizontally, did they released a new one? In my opinion, the best thing about this mod is that It stops the death roll issue where if you yaw too hard, it'll flip over, it almost always causes a crash. The extra power is fun to play around with though.

@OriginaldoBo found out what was the problem its every time i screw the broad back together for some reason its stops the motors so i take it off try a battery and all of the motors work find 🤔
Def not worth it. Save the Avata and build or buy a 3.5” whoop with an O3 air unit. Honestly it looks a hell of a lot easier to build one than do this conversion and at the end of the day you’ll have an Avata and another $500 whoop instead of just a $1,000 Avata… (a $1,000 Avata 🤦🏻♂️)

Just finished doing the mod on my crashed avata and I can tell you it was the best thing I ever done to it. Somply perfect, no more yaw tumbles and so much power. Recovery from dive is absolutely great now and I feel way more safe flying it
