That flu is killer bro, my whole household has it right now! Pushing out Avata videos like a champ dude!
No sense in trashing the idea of a go pro on the avata. it's a life saver in harsh conditions. The avata has a decent camera on it, but doesn't match the dynamic range of the Gopro 11. Was in a situation the other day, harsh conditions (hard shadows), avata footage was trash, Gopro was golden. This is a practical setup for paid jobs.
Thanks for doing this comparison. I've been contemplating setting mine up like this but at this point it seems like I should leave the Avata as-is (other than bolt-on mods etc) and just learn how to fly better and build a larger drone for my action cams once I hone my skills. Feel better, man!
I really hope that they make a firmware update that allows you to bind multiple devices with the goggles.
They can save the settings in the SD card if ever.
LOVE Your Videos 🇨🇦 Hello from Canada.
You have made my Drone life so much better.
Thank you 😊
Thanks for putting the work in while sick. I like the idea of this. Maybe after DJI care expires. This is new fun for me not business so no added cam. I'm more interested in getting a 4th battery so I can fly as long as I want. Learning manual will take lots if practice. No issues with my Avata so far.😁
Hope you get feeling better! I just got over some crud all last week finally feeling better.
In multiple videos I've watched, the new motors take about a min + so mounting this seemed to have costed about another minute. This is good to know. Thanks Bro!
What would be cool is to swap the motors and beef up the ESC. Then the props. Then add a GoPro. Then maybe try a different firmware. Then you got yourself a sweet rig! 😁
It’s 9:30 central time on October 19. This is the last video I see. I was watching the stream and it completely disappeared from the channel. Maybe it’s on my end. There isn’t even any history of it. Just an FYI. Keep streaming man. I watch it every time. Totally entertained by it. It’s almost like a comedy and info show for drone guys. Don’t stop the Drone Brews!
Ooh.. I like how you maximize the potentials of this tiny fpv! Good to see how flexible it is to these changes too
Awesome review Ken. I hope you get to feeling better real soon Brother!
Hey Ken, we need a baseline test I think. Stock versus Modded in various situations. Test total flight time by timing a still flight in inside the house (no wind), a pre-determined track with same conditions for both drones and a final with the Go-Pro.
Im pretty much done testing at this point I give zero fucks further on it.. yall make your own determination
Hey Ken , first off I hope you feel better soon, and a speedy recovery. Great video breaking down the difference. Nice flying nice place to fly through the trees etc.. did u go through the tunnel after without the camera on it? Plus nice long video. Take care
First time seeing your videos. Awesome video. Feel better soon.
Did you know you are literally the first person on the entire fucking Internet to say what degree tilt you’re flying Keep it real. Stay safe.
Man I'm really trying to get a sense of what's really going on with this drone
Nice results! Im all good with the Avata as is, it flies incredibly where I want to fly at a speed Im comfortable with, but this setup would definitely be great for some who want more out of it.
Can’t wait to see the longevity of the new motors, will they last?
You are a true #Hero my friend! Great video!
Thanks Kelly! But you sir are the original OG
I hate the repair/bind process, doing from DJI FPV to Avata.. Why are they not adding profiles? With just a switch option between.
Thanks for the info I have been thinking about upgrading the motors watching your video definitely convinced me to go ahead and get some from mine thanks again and I hope you get to feeling better soon
I think it’s great that there is wiggle room for improvements, possible further development from DJI in the future?. Great video Ken appreciate you taking the time to experiment with this product. Thanks 👍
Good video and breakdown Ken. It would have been really nice if DJI had incorporated a connector to make a motor swap easy. Even if it was just to replace an original motor, that would be handy. I may look at doing some kind of connector on my drone for the ease of motor swapping, and thereby eliminating the need to dismantle the entire drone. I would bet others are thinking about this as well. That would be perfect and one could swap back and forth between motors all day without the fuss. Thanks for the posting even though you were feeling like crap, that's some dedication my friend ! Cheers...
Every time I collide with something flying my Avata in manual mode (even if it's a simple tree leaf at low speed) it detects impact and goes into a crazy mode where it switches to normal mode and accelerates the drone AT MAX to a random direction until it crashes and breaks.
did you have this problem bro help
I acknowledge your efforts in expanding and pushing the limits of the Avata stock and aftermarket upgrades, I appreciate your time and endeavors in doing so. I've watched your videos and your discussions online with Ken Heron so I have a decent vibe of your take on the Avata. Here's my point/question: the purpose of the DJI Avata (and DJI drone for this matter) is to have a 'turn key' FPV experience with all the training wheels of GPS, modes of flying, etc., for beginners and some professionals that don't care for the DIY nature of FPV. After you swap to Axisflying motors (voiding the warranty and negating the DJI refresh option) and strap on an Action 3 camera (adding another 145+ grams with mount) to an already top heavy and overweight cinewhoop aren't we so outside of the original intent of the Avata? I think it's very cool and interesting to see what the Avata can do with all the upgrades but at that point just get a Cinelog 35 with a Gopro and have a much better quad with superior performance and video quality. The advantages of long flight time and an action camera quality video from the single camera are now negated and with the price, lack of available upgrades in a FC, ESC, batteries and so forth it now makes the Avata a dead end. Atleast if you don't like a certain FC or want to save weight and get an AIO, want to adjust weight, flight time and performance with different batteries on a regular FPV Cinewhoop you can do that with less time and effort as disassembling an Avata to upgrade the motors. I think whether intentional or not, this exposes the biggest drawback of the Avata, that you are to a large degree through price, proprietary and skill set painting yourself into a corner when wanting more out of the Avata. I really do enjoy and love that you are doing all of these upgrades, it gives perspective, entertainment and excitement for myself, thank you for exercising the build it better and innovative nature of FPV. Get well soon!
What are the advantages of slapping a action camera on? Is the stock camera on the Avadda that crappy that you need to add a few more hundred Bucks to get good cina footage? I was under the impression that the camera was almost as good as the Air2s. Mmmm
Noice! It's an interesting project that I'm sure will benefit some out there. I'm curious what the long term effect will be? Hmmm... nice job! Now go get some rest!
Interesting setup! Although Im pretty satisfied with how my Avata is now, range and overall flight performance has been incredible!
I think the Avata flies better in the wind with the Axis motors, thats been my experience.
AxisFlying just released a video of them flying the AVATA with their 3.5 frame upgrade and C157-2 motors. Several times, a "motor overload" warning popped up in the HUD. In wondering if you've experienced anything like it
Another good test Ken.
Hey just out of curiosity and I know the debate about pilot error vs firmware error rages on, but would you expect changing the weight and center of balance and so forth of the air-frame should make any latent firmware issues worse? I mean it would seem you're more likely to be out of the envelope and while you're not throwing these around, you haven't seen any weird behavior I assume? Feel better!
there isnt much you can do. the washout issue is mostly a result of the frame design and unless you get rid of the whoops or move the motors you wont be able to improve it much. and the firmware being terrible doesnt give me much hope either because they fpv has a shit tune too and they didnt ever push an update for that.
Love that you said flu. It seemed to have went on vacation for a few years. 🤣😉🙏🏽 Get well.
Good stuff. Thanks for posting.
Is it worth buying the axis 3.5 upgrade for the avata ,there 2 version just motor upgrade or motor and cage 4.5 not sure can you assist.
Since I still don't have a FPV Controller 2 to play with manual mode, I'm curious about your 20 degree tilt comment. Assuming it's for the camera, is that tilt up or down?
Camera Tilt up. So you can get more speed while keeping the camera level. The action cam should be at the same angle too..
Why do you use the avata? I have it and I have a ton of other similar sized drones ive built. I like the altitude hold on the avata but I loath the camera..
You should throw them up at the same time in a hover until they self land. I know I know it’s not how we fly them. Would still be cool to see which force lands first and would be easy easy content to make for views. Lol
Why the action 3 if you say it's similar to the avata stock camera? What's the action 3 weight compared to a gopro model that creates a better image than the avata camera?
You seem to have been flying a lot faster on the bigger motors :) So when you said they drain faster, i think most of it is just you not flying the exact same - no shame on you Im sure it felt the same in the moment with just plain more power under you
Thats a cool video! can it carry insta x3?
Nice man , I was wondering if I could swap motors because the originals aren't that powerful. What motors did you install in the avata and where can I buy them?
👍I understand trying to optimize your drone's performance and capabilities...but...at what point are you trying to make a race car out of a mini van?
People will always turbo a Honda
@@OriginaldoBo True. And "Drift" away.
Do you have to takeoff in manual to get the avata to lift the action4? I tried with mine and it struggled to lift off ( with a full battery) and then landed. I was in normal mode. I wasd also using the motion controller and auto take off.
I usually do just because it’s easier
Hey quick question, how are you using the avata with not having your phone plugged onto your headset? I need to know how to do that
I didn’t update this one
Hi Ken, Hope you get better soon, JMoSpgHill
Get some rest and chicken soup. It is totally okay to take a short break.
are the hitches in the playback due to a framerate mismatch? I'm noticing it in your stock flight.
Frame rates are all the same all 30fps
This Is strange .... as someone pointed out glitches in my videos from the avata camera too. I hadn't noticed until it was pointed out. I film in 60fps but save edit in 30fps. This may be the cause of my issue
Is it possible for you to try the Axis with the gopro mounted?
Bruddah, any de sync tumble in 140 packs??
No man, not one time have I suffered any issues it’s the furthest thing from my mind
@@OriginaldoBo Hell yeah good to know! Thanks fer da response! I fly over water a lot n cant shake the fear of all these units falling outta the sky.. LOL I went and ripped it hard and had no trouble so I was hoping I got a good one.. :^)
Hey K …saw u at Djiairworks.. didi u catch flu bug from vegas?
I think so 🤦🏼♂️
@@OriginaldoBo whatever happened to the saying that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas? If you got the flu in vegas, shouldn't it have stayed there? 😎
Where did you get the goggles/battery holder?
I make them
@@OriginaldoBo for sale?
I like your video, and you take care
Great video as always, really appreciate that even though you are not feeling well, you are sacrificing for our entertainment. Get better soon. 🦾🦾🦾🦾
