The National Medical Commission (NMC) of India has achieved recognition from the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).

SPONSOR NOTE HELP PLEASE!!!!
My college’s (Government Medical College Pali) first batch completed 4th year in 2023, after that I started sponsor note process via my college.
On December 2023 the last correspondence with ECFMG email they asked “to send mock degree of GMC Pali, to complete information packet of GMC Pali”
We sent our email reply with our sample of GMC Pali degree and then no response since then.
I know ecfmg halted every process in jan snd mid feb,but after that still haven’t had a response now it’s end of April. Have sent two additional emails for reminders but no response.
Do i have start the process again new with NMC or continue sending emails to ecfmg?
Have also sent NMC email asking how to proceed with this, asked if we need to start sponsor note process from start with NMC or continue with ecfmg, the haven’t responded.
Please help and guide regarding this 😅
As i checked, Your med school only have yearly permission from NMC for admission of students. Your med school still doesn't have permanent NMC certificate... Firstly Your med school must get final/permanent NMC certification(recognition)...

New med school are certified only for 1 year by the NMC. It need to be re-certified again till med school gets permanent NMC certification. Permanent certification is given to med school after completion of internship of the 1st batch... Other details/requirements about NMC certification can be checked out on their official website...

I will suggest you to send email to ECFMG after :
1 - Getting permanent NMC certification of your med school.
2 - Completing other requirements @ 0:35 in this video

There is no use of sending emails if all the requirements are not completed...

I wanted to know, can I just register as a doctor (as I’ve completed my MBBS internship) and directly apply to usmle by that? Or do i still need my college to get register?
In order to apply for USMLE Steps Exam your med school must have an ECFMG sponsor note. You can't fill the exam form without that. Check out this video. My school has sponsored by ecfmg but the graduation year is not stated as "current".
1-Does it affect me after 2024 change?
2- The requesting of ecfmg sponsor note sometimes takes months so if it reaches 2024 when I am in the process(requesting), does it affect me?
In simple words, for you to be eligible: if you are med student, then graduation year should be listed as 'current' OR
if you are a graduate, then graduation year should be listed as your graduation year.
1 - before enactment of policy - you only need a sponsor note
After enactment of policy - you will additionally need the Accreditation of your National Authority.

2 - Yes, the whole process may take a year or so, to get the sponsor note. After enactment of 2024 policy, you should have accreditation of your National Authority along with the sponsor note.
What process is your med school doing to change the graduation years? Do we have to do the whole thing again?
The website is updated from time to time... if it still doesn't have your year of graduation then you can contact them(wdoms)...
Hi, how much time will it take for a new med college to get the sponsor note after its 1st batch passes out? I’m a student of a 2019 AIIMS… we wrote the email to ecfmg with all the details but they never reverted…. If our 1st batch passes out in 2025, when will we be given the note
You should request your med school management to send the email through their official email only after:
(1) the 1st batch of the med school completes its internship +
(2) Med school get recognised by the NMC(in case of India) +
(3) Other requirements that i mentioned in the video.(0:43)
Time taken for getting an ECFMG Sponsor Note = Variable (usually takes around 1-1.5 years)

Sir I have a doubt, from 2024 if nmc gets recognized then will the college still require sponsor note because if nmc gets recognized then it means all medical colleges who have 1 passout batch will be eligible for usmle even if they don't have sponsor note . Please reply
'ECFGM Sponsor note for medical College' and 'WFME accrediting the Accredating agency of a country (ie. NMC for India)' are two separate things.
(Quoting data from official website below...
Currently, accrediting agencies recognized by either WFME or NCFMEA fulfill the requirements of the Recognized Accreditation Policy 2024. The requirements of the policy are in addition to all other policies related to ECFMG Certification. )
So, your Med school will still need to have an ECFMG sponsor note even if the NMC gets Accredited/Recognised. In simple words,NMC accreditation is just an additional requirement along with the 'primary' sponsor note. You need them both if you apply from 2024.

Your med school can request for ECFMG sponsor note after the national accreditation agency (for example NMC in India) accredites the medical school in their country (along with other requirements...). In India, after the completion of internship of 1st batch of med school, process of NMC recognition is done. Different countries have different requirements which can be checked on their respective websites.
@_doctors_journey what if my school gets national accreditation before a patch graduates (it can happen in my country) can i apply for sponsor notes before the first patch graduates
Your med school also need to complete other requirements mentioned at 0:35 in this video... After that your med school can follow the process...

(05:32) Medical school officials will be provided with a request form... The additional requirements and certifications will be mentioned on the form... Hope this helps...

ECFMG might reply within a month. Make sure your med school has completed all the requirements. Try sending a reminder mail... This may help.. The whole process might take a year or two... Patience is the key...

There are no charges mentioned by the ecfmg... However your medical school might have to pay the cost of sending documents via 'traditional' mail, just in case ecfmg asks for it...

@@_doctors_journey update: we just found that our college sent the first request back in 2021 and since then MedSchoolReview just replied that they have asked for supporting documents from the appropriate agency.
Can someone please tell who is the appropriate agency for India ? With whom the request might be pending since 2021 ? Can it be Medical Council of India ? Or Gov of India?
Medical Council of India (MCI) was replaced by National Medical Council (NMC) at the end of 2020. NMC had tried to complete the pending works, but some stuff might have been neglected during the transition( also the covid mess...). NMC is the appropriate agency in this matter. You can request the NMC to provide the supporting documents (details about your med school - established date, currently operating or not etc...).
