  • Hey there!! I hope this answers some of your questions about why I eat like I do~I should have emphasized more that if my body would tolerate veggies (hopefully one day it will), I would eat salads etc like crazy, #Keto would be my preferred diet 🥬 Right now, The CARNIVORE DIET is working so well for me, so I have learned just to appreciate feeling good! 🥰 Lisa

Please don't stop. Please keep sharing. I have felt terrible for a very long time. EVERYTHING HURT. I felt like I was 150 yrs old (59). A few weeks ago I had a talk with myself and said something needs to change. YOU'RE NOT OLD!!!! I used to be a gym rat, body-builder. I know what it feels like to be strong, awake, fit! I started listening to my body in what it needed. I wanted eggs. I wanted meat. I wanted to not start my day with sugar in my coffee. Long story short, BECAUSE OF YOU, I cut out ALL SUGAR. Everything that is making me feel terrible, gone. I have been eating meat, veggies, salad, eggs. Researching recipes, how to eat in a new way. (I LOVE to cook. It feeds my soul.) I'm a couple weeks in and I feel FABULOUS!!! YOU lit a fire in me. YOU woke me up. YOU made me want to fight for ME AGAIN. I could say SO MUCH MORE, but I will close in saying, THANK YOU! I APPRECIATE YOU! I am forever in your debt. THANK YOU!

Thank you for sharing that. I used to start my day by getting to the gym at 5 a.m. and that routine was for at least 28 years. Everything was great until last year. I spent one month in ICU and then in and out of the hospital all year long. With that and COVID I have not been near a gym and miss it. I cannot get there yet but Lisa keeps me going. I had to learn how to walk again and still walk with a cane. My goal is to walk more, eat less crap (I am addicted to Lays potato chips) and get rid of this damn cane. I really do appreciate everyone who shares something - it really helps another person like me. So thank you to Joan and Lisa and everyone else who shares.

The most important thing is to know your own body. I’ve lived with bulimia for over 20 years and destroyed my metabolism and gut health.
My gut does not have the enzymes to break down animal or fish protein so I’m vegan now and it’s the best thing for me. I’ve not eaten sugar or white flour in years. I don’t eat dairy. Some say my diet is to restricted but believe me I eat more now than I have in my 50 years.
You look amazing and I so happy you found something that works for you.

Lisa I started my health journey a cpl months after you started. My friend started her journey after me. Each of our journey is so different! You eat carnivore, my friend does dirty keto, I eat clean with mostly vegetables, no dairy and no red meat. And guess what??? We are all seeing results, losing weight, feeling our best, and we are doing it all for the right reasons FOR OURSELVES!! Thank you for inspiring me to advocate my own personal health journey. For me personally there was alot of things I had to “un-learn”.

People more respectful of my choices when I say something like "oh I'm going to pass on the bread, it just doesn't agree with me!" or "that salad looks so good but I know it will upset my stomach." Getting granular like that helps me manage other people's opinions and my own! Rather than saying "I'm never going to eat bread again" I'll tell myself "not today." I think of it like a no spend period. Just because I'm not buying that handbag today doesn't mean I'll never have another new purse! It just means I'm holding off for now.

Amy, I am perimenopausal (several years in) and really struggling. One thing I am always confused on is we have to worry about hitting a specific calorie amount? Some days I just land around 1000 but I am not losing so...🤷‍♀ I plan on doing more IF with my eating window being earlier in the day as I have been hearing that is the best for women in my stage of life. Love your thoughts since you had such great success.

I’m also a carnivore that eats some fish, the only thing I worry about is where the meat comes from. When I can, I go to the butcher. I do get feedback from others that I’m eating cancer causing food and I feel like the air we all breath is more dangerous...when I realized meat was what my body wanted that’s what I started feeding it.

I love how you're so humble about your stats. As far as cholesterol, the doctor wanted to put my husband on statins just because his was a little high. He came back home showing me the prescription. I told him, no, I didn't want him to do it. He actually got mad at me about it and said, "well why am I even going then?" I said to see what your stats were. To make a long story short, I showed him a YT video of a doctor saying you need to have high cholesterol sometimes and that statins were really bad for you. Thank God he listened and both of us have stayed med-free for 15 yrs.

If you are interested in the evolution of food, the documentary Food, Inc. was sooooo interesting. People say that certain diets or foods are “bad” for you but ultimately, how you FEEL is all that matters. I liken your experience with carnivore to my boyfriend who does not drink alcohol. People can’t seem to wrap their heads around it, but it’s his choice and what makes him happy. He doesn’t care if I or others partake, but he never has and never will. Do what works for you!!

I've been doing keto for the last 8 years. Never felt better. Now, I eat one meal a day, and I'm not worried about having a 1/2 a sweet potato, 1/2 C of rice or so. I love my weight and don't want to lose anymore, so if I stay under 50 net carbs a day, I'm golden. I can do some veggies, but only if they're cooked. Salads and raw veggies hurt my stomach, as they do with you.
You look fabulous. You look healthy. You look happy. So you do you and that's terrific! I know some people are freaked out by eating this way, but everyone is different. Different ages, different times of life, etc., etc.
We've been taught to eat in a way that is unnatural for us with the tons of sugar, carbs, grains. Peasant food. What we NEED is quality proteins.
If you haven't already, check out Gary Taubes' videos. I started with him and there are a boatload of others who 'get it'. Be well and God bless.

And then when you give them suggestions they won’t try it because they are more scared of the change than they are to stay the same!
Change is hard work!! You have to accept that! And whatever you change will never work overnight you have to have patience and be consistent! I love your videos Thankyou for sharing your life with us! ❤❤

So happy you found this lifestyle. Feeling alive and well is worth whatever we have to do. I have no gut issues and am still doing WW. Happier than ever. I hope we will evolve to a place where we can all respect each other's food choices for whatever reasons we make them. I've been Keto for 6-7 years and while I try not to make a big deal about it, even waitstaff will often roll their eyes when I ask for a non-carb substitution of a side item. (I've noticed some menus now saying 'NO substitutions" which means you just have to pay for the carbs and not eat them.) We all know what makes us feel our best and each have the opportunity to take the best care of our bodies that we can. So happy you have found what works for you!!

I developed migraine disorder plus chronic daily headaches when I turned about 45. Trials and tribulations brought me to finally discover that foods are my primary triggers as are my hormones. I did an elimination type diet which eventually brought me to the keto diet and then full carnivore for quite a while. I have vastly improved my pain level and frequency and lost 20 pounds. I feel fantastic and look my absolute best! I’m not full keto anymore but my diet still doesn’t include flour, gluten or very much sugar. It’s meat, veggies and oats and rice (limited rice and oats). I’m healthier than I’ve been in decades…I’m 51 now and I also workout daily. Food is life and what we put in our bodies is vitally important to our health and well-being.

I'm glad you talked about "grass and finished" ...and also " buy what you can afford, reasonably, or source". Not everyone can afford organic grass fed beef, and that's ok. Like you said, there are still benefits. If financially possible AND a person has access to organic, and the least processed as possible, and with animals, yes big thing is, no hormones, no pesticides, and grass fed and finished (which just means like you said- they don't fatten them up with grains etc).
My Mom has chrones...she's had it as long as I can remember. She's 71 next month. She suffers really suffers daily...a good day, then 5 horrible days. Can't leave home for fear of not getting to a bathroom in time...it just breaks my heart. She has a food problem, we all do in my family. She has lost 100 lbs and has kept it off for many years but she just refuses to try a food elimination plan, refuses. She says "I'd rather suffer with this than not be able to eat what I want" ...this breaks my heart. I think for people who have just felt so ridiculously horrible for so many years, decades...we loose all hope of every feeling better. You add an unhealthy relationship with food...and it becomes this thought that " well if I am going to be miserable, at least I can eat something that makes me happy"...
Eggs are the perfect food, lol...I wish I could eat them. I lost 85 lbs when I found out I was diabetic and had to go on insulin (runs in my family. My mom is, her 6 siblings are, and my Grandpa died at 64 due to diabetic complications. I'm happy to say, while I still have another 50 to go, I was able to complete stop taking insulin for the past 2 years. My endocrinologist says I will likely have to take it again some day down the road but if I keep a healthy diet I might get another 15 years (I'm 53) before I might have to take insulin again.
Anyway...eggs..yup. I loved those for a fast effective breakfast, sadly...I became intolerant to them, ugh. So now I really struggle with breakfast, well I call it breakfast but I try not to eat until around 1-2 pm, is my first meal.
Thanks for sharing your honest real life experiences. I also really love that you aren't afraid to point out some of the ridiculous hypocrisies around diets/food, etc. We've all been lie too, there is no doubt about that, full stop. We've been lied to about neutron, for many years. When "milk boards" were formed they began camping targeting our kids and parents that our kids are simply going to have stunted growth, their teeth will likely all fall out, they will likely have brittle bones by the time they are 30, and your first hip replacement will be before your 40.
Truth is...cows milk is the #1 leading cause of childhood constipation. Truth. The #1 "perscribed" off label constipation relief is called " miralax" in the US, or "restoralax" in Canada, Movicol in the UK. This stuff is right up poison. It's made up of one ingredient, polyethylene glycol. This is one molecule away from anti-freeze. This poison is what is being given to millions of children every single day, all over the world...because most are consuming huge amounts of dairy and equally high amounts of highly processed foods like those dang "gold fish" which I believe we're invented by satan himself.
So many Moms today are becoming more and more educated and knowledgeable about nutrition what is, and isn't needed by babies. In my case I had read things about dairy and since my son was almost 9 weeks early I had no milk (and I was 44), and I didn't get any milk (thank you so much, you unless set of double DD I have carted around for a freaking life time, you really let the crew down!) ...I digress. So, my son was a very expensive formula which just happened to not be dairy based. Well finacially we could thankfully afford this formula, and he stayed on it, changing up as the months went by and at 24 mos, adjusted age 21.5 mos, his doc MOM. SHAMED. Me into taking my son off the formula and starting whole cows milk immediately! He was under weight, but not terribly considering he weighed just 4 lbs when he was born. I really didn't want too, I thought why mess with what is working? He's very healthy, even hitting most milestones a head of time! Especially given he was a preemie. Walked @ 11 months, lots of babbling/ talking etc. Nope, 4he knew best. So, I bought the most expensive "whole cows milk, organic and lactose free" (I know now lactose has nothing to do with constipation), anyway. In 5 days by perfectly healthy baby boy was so constipated and in so much pain. I took him back to the Dr. Know what she said? Hint...it wasn't what commonsense says " oh, what's different? - um...cows milk"...Nope. She says, oh childhood constipation is so common. Here...you can get this at Costco, put 1tsp in his COWS MILK daily, it will work wonders. I go to Costco, buy it. Get home. Read the label. WARNING : Do not give to children under 18 years of age.
What???? Huh?? How on earth can this be safe for a little toddler who weighed less than 20 lbs? I called my pharmacist, yup he says. Very commonly given to children, as young as ONE MONTH old! Now I am seriously confused. I call my aunt, she's been an ER Nurse in Texas for 20 years. "Oh yeah" n she says " we use that daily! It's what we use to do colonoscopy clean outs and for the gazillion kids brought in because they are severely backed up". Ok..now I'm still feeling really conflicted but I have a child in agony, and so I give it to him.
Worst decision of my life. I will NEVER ever...EVER tell my mother's intuition to shut up, ever again. Sadly I gave it to him for the next 5 years. One night as I sat for my usual 2-5 hours it took my son to go to sleep ( yes sleeplessness is a none side effect, he had not slept more than a 4 hour chunk of time since he started that crap- so age 2-7). As I sat waiting for him to fall asleep I was scrolling thru a mom fb group I belonged too, a mom asked for constipation remedies. Many of us quickly all replied the same thing " restoralax!! - go get the massive double bottle @ costco"...I mean, like 15 of us all said the same thing. To put that into perspective it was a group of about 1200 Mum's, it was the middle of the night, when most people sleep. At least 15 of us jump in with the same answer. Does that begin to tell you how often this is being perscribed? One brave Momma said " um, I've read recently that this stuff has the same ingredient as windshield washer fluid, you might want to do some research on it". Well she was immediately attacked. " it's perfectly safe! -im a nurse. -im a doctor etc. I thank God every single day for this mum's timing and bravery to go against the grain.
Within 15 minutes I found a group on fB, I requested to join, thankfully someone was approving in the middle of the night, and for the next 3 hours I read hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of gut wrenching parental stories about how their children had been injured by this poison.
That was 3 years ago last month. My son never got another dose of restoralax. After many many many tears and the crushing weight of guilt knowing I had injured my son by giving him this crap, I channeled that anger towards working towards healing my son. This began my very long journey of understanding why the gut is called " the 2nd brain", and what happens when we completely destroy the good gut bacteria in the gut. What takes over when the good gut bacteria is not a round to keep the bad gut bacteria in check? Yup, the bad guys have a freaking party and begin to multiply like crazy! Then they call in some new friends and they begin to multiply and pretty soon that "2nd brain" is in complete shambles.
I immediately found a Naturopathic Doctor who ran tests and determine yes, his gut was just destroyed. She helped me to create a healing plan, to heal the gut and I worked on getting him off all dairy and all gluten- that took me 4 months, which was very difficult considering he only ate about 7 foods, all of which were either dairy, or gluten. I quickly determined thru food elimination and food journaling his root cause was dairy in the beginning but gluten was actually worse for him. Now he is 100% gluten free, and can tolerate organic milk & butter from grass fed and finished cows. He is no longer constipated, hasn't been in over 2 and a half years. We continue to work on healing his many severe injuries, caused by this poison.
I am now a moderator in this group I mentioned we've been working diligently lobbying Governments to conduct a study of this crap in children. The reason the label carries the warning of age, not suitable for 18 and under is b/c it was never tested on children. We've had a bit of really exciting news we have a lawfirm that is interested in starting a discovery to see what information we have gathered ( this group has been around for almost 14 years now) and to determine if they might be interested in trying to prepare a class action suit against the maker, which is Bayer. No amount of $$ will ever give us back the years lost to this poison, the agony my son has been through, and us as a family, but we continue to have hope that our son will be one of the children who have been fully recovered.
I apologize for thos turning into a Ted talk...but I felt compelled to share our story with you and your followers as it relates directly to gut health.
I am so so happy that you finally figured out the formula that works for you, that has lead to good health feeling amazing!!

I totally agree with you; I just started my journey in carnivore; I still don't know what I truly want to call it because I'm trying to stay clean carnivore; however I still have an icebox full of food I am not going to through away; right now when I cook I cook the vegetables I have; if the vegetable is low sugar I may eat a few springs or a bite of green beans, asparagus and broccoli; I haven't notice any ill effects or have seen a diminishment of the good stuff that is happening; which is my bloating is gone, I am sleeping well, my joint pain appears to be waning and I loosing weight; I have birthday coming up soon and I am sure my children are going to get a cake; I do plan on eating a few bites to appeasing; well see what happens; but hopefully it will be such a small amount nothing will happen; my purpose is to make this a life style that once and great while it won't matter. So far this diet has been doable.

Isn't that So True... When you are eating Fast Food, Drinking Starbucks every morning, No one thinks anything of it. But, when you only eat Meat, eggs & cheese... People think you are out of your mind! I think back to those bowls of sugar cereal I ate growing up & just want to throw up! My Mom was So Anal about the Food Pyramid! We had Protein, starch, carbs, vegetables in our meals every night- she was taught that in Home Economics when she was in High School in the 60s! She thought that she was feeding her family So Healthy- I have had stomach issues since I was a baby (Colic) & my kids were the same way. I would go weeks with out a bowel movement. I hurt so bad & was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Then I discovered Keto. I researched it & just like you, took notes. It has been my salvation! I will Never ever eat Crap food ever again! I no longer take any Rx for pain & my inflammation is gone. My lymphatic system drained & I feel AMAZING! My Doctors were Amazed. We bought a side of beef & a new freezer. You should look into that Lisa! 😘

I’m in week 2 of HEALTHY keto ☺️ I’m fasting, skipping breakfast and have lowered my protein (from what coaches told me throughout my competition days) healthy fats and lots of vegetables (which I love and can eat). It does take TIME to get adjusted, especially away from sugar (as I loved sugar) but the inflammation it was causing was terrible!!! Also I’m getting into a new habit/mindset because most of my life I have NOT eaten this way
There is no one size fits all! Play around, experiment, see how you feel and your body responds, carbs and my body NO LONGER mix!

I’ve done Keto for 2 years now. I feel so much better after ditching sugar and carbs. When you say you don’t have cravings I completely understand. I don’t have those cravings either. I love eating this way. I feel sooo good.

You are exuding happiness and it’s amazing! Keep living your best life. I appreciate your helpful tips so keep them coming. Also, thank you for your supplements video. I ordered some Benefiber prebiotic packets and I started taking them yesterday. It’s funny how you need a reminder sometimes that there are things out there. ❤️

Keep doing you! You can heal anything with food. That is the information you have to research. I follow all the Doctors you follow. Carbs don’t work for a lot of people.

After about two weeks on the very new keto, it’s the first two weeks that are the hardest! I’m Italian and do NOT crave carbs with a daughter and husband who are carb addicts!!! The way I FEEL truly has changed my mind and habits about food CHOICES!!! Once the cravings go your boost no longer wants it, it’s like it KNOWS there are zero benefits to eating carbs!!! Good luck everyone

Pilar I feel yr pain ! Stay away from veggies ! I had some sweet baby marrows yesterday oh boy ! Such a bad idea ! It’s just meat and a small salad but no veggies!
I could kick myself for eating them !
