I also have a 2020 Jetta with no issues after almost two years. Last summer, I made a round trip from Florida to Illinois to visit family. The Jetta is an excellent interstate cruiser. The ride is very smooth and quiet. A very underrated car.
For $26K what a good deal, solid European driving vehicle with German handling plus free maintenance for two years, winner in my book!...Thanks Guys, Keep up the Good Work!
@@truckercowboyed2638the same could be said about the Jetta. I have a 2019 and I’m currently at 137k miles with absolutely zero issues. Just kept up to date with oil changes.
This is all I have been waiting for this one and this will be my dream volkswagen sedan to afford one of these someday. Overall, fantastic job and review bro.
I just bought a Jetta SE 2024 ❤️😍 and I LOVEEE IT …. Price is great, mileage is even better. And it’s such a GOOD LOOKING CAR! thanks for the review! One of the best cars JETTA ALL THE WAY!
The big difference between the Jetta and the Civic was the CVT transmission. I drove Honda's for 20+ years and bought a 2018 Civic. Could not stand the CVT. Traded in on a 2020 Jetta R. Over 50 mile trips 48-50 mpg!! Car handles great. The only minor negative is the stiffer suspension and larger tyres on the VW causes higher road noise.
They've done a decent job with the refresh. The SE is a great grocery getting or commuter car. But for some real fun getting those groceries and getting to work with some speed, The GLi is the one, but with the chip and other shortages, those are rare rite now. Too bad the don't make a Jetta R. If you want that you have to get an Audi S3.
I assume they didn’t make an R because it will reach into Audi prices the golf is an exception because it’s a hatchback and Audi doesn’t offer one of those for sale in the USA
Just got the 22 se. It’s decent. Just installed a jb4 tune on it and it’s pretty quick. Not bad for 10k less than the GLI. Especially with the mark ups on them.
So what is your verdict vs the Civic? Based on the title I was expecting more compare and contrast versus the Civic. Particularly this SE vs the EX. 180 v 158 hp and auto v cvt. Handling comparison. Your civic test showed 63db v 53db here suggesting this is much quieter.
Lots of car for the money with impressive fuel economy. Compared to a Honda Civic the interior noise level is much quieter, and the Jetta has a real automatic transmission instead of a CVT.
Not a bad refresh. I had the 2019 Jetta R-Line. Was not a bad little car. I think they removed it for the sport trim (or something). Weird they got rid of the pano sunroof. Not a bad commuter car!
I thought they only had an oversized roof and not a pano? And did you check the higher trim levels to see what they offer? I went shopping and saw models with the oversized sun roof.
@@2004cyrus hmmmm I did not check. They most likely do. At least in my 2019 R Line I had a pano I’m pretty sure (can’t really remember since I traded it for a GR)!
Jetta wins because they offer a manual transmission on the base model. Honda does not have a sedan with a manual transmission. If you want a manual, the only option is the Civic hatchback, but you have to upgrade to the "Sport" model to get the manual. Honda's idea of a "hatchback" looks more like the regular Civic sedan, but with a little bit larger rear window. It looks really weird and has 4 doors - is that really a hatchback?! When I think of a hatchback I think of the Honda Civic EF - very small, 2 doors and a very large back, almost like an SUV. I'm sure the Civic hatchback is faster than a Jetta, but it's also about $5,000 more and it's a hatchback, not cool if you want a sedan with a manual!
The front of the car reminds me of the 2018 Ford Taurus. Similar design touches. Wish it was a little more aggressive on the front and less Taurus like.
They call a 4 year/50,000 mile warranty "a good warranty", when other's offer a 5 or 6 year / 70,000 warranty for cars in the same category as the Jetta. So this tells me they lack confidence in their product to provide a matching warranty.
I do not understand how Volkswagen has not finished the production of the Atlas, Tiguan, Arteon, and Jetta models, how many are sold in the USA? How many problems have these cars presented?

I bought an SE almost 1 month ago and love it! I’ve gotten up to 48mpg average on a long trip. I feel even better hearing you praise it!
These Jetta’s are wonderful! I love my 2020 Jetta. Almost two years are no issues at all! The mpg is amazing, too!
Jetta is a decent vehicle, plain and boring styling Civic Sentra Elantra Forte look way better........

Excellent review as per usual, I really do like the Jetta! I personally think the space offered kinda makes the Passat useless!
Which is why the Passat is done
@@2004cyrus oops, I forgot they discontinued it, my bad
We bought this same trim and we get more than 40 MPG on the highway.

Im high af thought it was an audi for the longest
Looks about the same, nice engine, grill light updates but Sadly VW still did "not" include Sirius XM.. whats up with that? Exc Review
It's a marketing move. They only offer XM in the SEL and GLI to try and lure buyers into the more expensive trims.

is this a great car for nun experience driver?
I don't see why not
Can you explain why the S and Sport trims have better fuel economy if all of them are using the same engine with the same hp and torque numbers?
Most likely it's because the wheel sizes are smaller
Narrower tires has less friction and rolling resistance vs the wider tires in the higher trims.
Great value
GLI destroys SI as jetta is faster than civic too.
