My son and his wife had a little baby girl born on the night Jerry Jeff died. They named her Wren. I call her Little Bird. First time I got to hold her I took her in my arms and sang her this song. Tried not to get the tears on her. RIP JJW, you will never die.
I have always thought that this was one of the greatest songs ever, so much intense emotion and sadness, and so few people seem to appreciate it. But thank you.
I cry every time I hear this beautiful little song. What brilliant lyrics! What heartbreaking melody. Yes, I wonder if he ever heard these words. O lord, o my..
I saw Jerry Jeff in Tucson just before this time...what a force of nature...one of the best concerts I"ve ever seen..God Bless You Jerry Jeff....brings back memories of wild times....sometimes regreted but never forgotten...part of who I am.
THANK YOU for posting this! I love ALL versions of this song, but Lloyd is THE master of his craft! Damn, NOBODY can make it 'ring' and 'cry' like he can!
I'm finishing a gig at the Snow King Resort in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Jerry Jeff was coming in. Wish I could of stayed another night and caught his act, but the shows must go on!
This song reminds me so much of my mom. I miss her and Jerry Jeff.
Saw him in 1973 at a festival in Nacogdoches TX.

Thank you Jerry Jeff and I'm thinking of you once more on your passing..and of all the joy and wisdom you brought. God bless..
The paths our lives could have taken . . . This song expresses that sense of loss better than any other.

Live from Gruene Hall is the best version ever cut. So much emotion. Simple, beautiful song.
Sooooo good.
Best song best version
A bit nostalgic lately, JJW is but one of those many TX memories, TVZ, Gary P Nunn, Lightnin Hopkins, ok I'll stop for now! Thanks Jerry
RIP Texas legend.

RIP Jerry Jeff
Jerry was sort of twisted to the right during this performance. I wonder if Lloyd didn't know the chords, and Jerry made sure he could see them.
