I still don't get why people it's so concerned regarding water/weather resistance. I took pictures in ANTARCTICA and TUNISIAN DESERT with my X-E4 without any problem (the lens is a 27mm pancake WR though) so at the end of the day, you should be under the water to mess up with the camera. So I don't think there will be any problem with X-S10. And just in case, you can always put some plastic bag over the body to give extra protection. Nice video!

Having tested an XT4 in a camera shot and compared the output to my Panasonic TZ95 (non interchangeable lens) I decided to purchase the XS10 as my first digital interchangeable lens camera without first testing it. I was a little disappointed with the smaller evf (vs XT4). Notwithstanding that I have been very happy with it. However, if you are thinking of joining the Fuji eco system there is probably one key question to ask yourself. That is, do you want a camera with the Fuji dials on the top (SS, Aperture and Exposure Compensation) or are will you be happier with the PASM more normal style. Both have advantages. For me after owning the XS10 for 6 months I decided I wanted the dials so added the XH1. This has two of the dials, not EC. This camera also has weather sealing and two card slots. It is also very reasonably priced second hand. I then decided I wanted a Fuji with all three dials so bought the 10 year old XT1. Both this camera and the XH1 have lovely evf’s. This was even less money than the XH1 and according to many Fuji shooters produces the best images of any XT even though only a 16 MP camera. So, I now have three cameras to choose from and shoot with them all. I wouldn’t put a non stabilised lens on the XT1. In Rainy weather I would put my weather resistant lens on the XH1. Often I will take two cameras with me using the 18-55 on one and the 50-230 on the other as if possible I prefer not to swap lenses when out. So, I wouldn’t put anyone off the XS10, it’s a fine camera, it really does depend on your own needs and they could, like mine, change over time. If you asked me if I could only keep one of the three I may choose the XH1 but as this is the largest and heaviest of them I’m not totally sure. Having three options is great fun. Just carry at least two spare batteries at all times with any of these cameras.
Thank you for taking the time to comment Ian! You bring up a VERY interesting debate I've been having with myself recently - the X-H1. I believe this is one of the BEST options available still and I was SO disappointed when Fuji removed the dials in the XH2/2S. The size is definitely a bit of an issue but if size isn't a problem than you are getting a STUNNING camera for the price, Incredible EVF, IBIS, weather sealing, dual cards, proper grip, and a sweet top screen. I think it's the best professional entry point for Fuji tbh, I will try and get one in for review at some point! How do you find the 50-230? I'm considering grabbing one just for travel stuff and would be interested in your views! You're right with the original X-T1, that camera still holds up VERY well! Very glad you're getting on so well with the system! Thank you!

Ive had the a6400 and currently have the Xs10. . And love them both. But if you do more portrait, people, wildlife photography. Go for the A6400. If you're into stills, and architecture, landscape. Thank you for your sharing! Now that the xs20 is out, would you still recommend buying the xs10 now? Am considering between the 2, but xs20 is also much more expensive :(
You have to weigh up what you're actually getting the camera for, realistically for most users the X-S10 is still far more than they would ever need and you'll be able to pick up some nice deals on it! I've used it for paid gigs and wouldn't hesitate to use and recommend it again!
I agree with all the point you made, but one caveat I feel is the price point. I also love my X-S10, but in todays market it definitely should be sub $1000
thinking to buy this right now because of its affordablility, what do you think? i’m not familiar with fuji so i thought it would be a great way to start, was moving towards xe4 but xs 10 bcos of its stability however i do shoot a lot of videos so 4k is kinda a thing… but not as much !
Hey, thanks for dropping by! The X-S10 is a fantastic platform for videos and it's definitely a high-end introduction to the great x-mount lenses! You should get some great deals especially if you look at the used market too! I wouldn't hesitate to buy one as a first camera, it's above and beyond what 90% or people will ever need, I used mine for paid professional work with zero issues and it didn't hold me back at all!
Hey I actually did a video comparing those two! Honestly for my money I'd go for a used X-T4 every time (Battery life ALONE makes it worth it, but you get dual cards, weather sealing, MUCH better EVF and a better mechanic shutter speeds) but the X-S10 is still a fantastic camera! You won't go wrong with either!
Hey, thanks for dropping by, the only stabilisation CLOSE to gimbal performance so far is Sony's Catalyst Browse but I don't think that's worth buying into the system for. The Fuji stabilisation is plenty good enough so long as you have good basic skills. I wouldn't recommend using the boost mode, a lot of artefacts there from my finding.
Thanks for the reply!@@FeralGinger I've been contemplating to get this or the new one in the future. I'm currently using my iphone to vlog. So far, so good. My only issue is the audio and sometimes I want a cinematic shot.
Great review! I'm a beginner and wanted to try fujifilm. What lens do you recommend that would be great for both portrait and landscape shots? Thank you!
Hey Thanks for the kind words and leaving a comment really helps the channel! The Sigma 18-50 F2.8 would be my recommended starting lens. I actually did a review on this I'd recommend you checking out as I have used it for paid work and as the sole lens for travel. it's reasonably priced and TINY. If you find after 6-12 months of shooting you shoot at a particular focal length then you could consider picking up a Prime in that range! Hope this helps!
Thanks so much for the review! Curious what you’d recommend for my first lens on this camera, looking for something flexible for both portrait and landscapes, and that does great for videos. Any recs for lenses that are less bulky than the 18-55mm?
Thank you SO much for dropping by! I absolutely have a recommendation for you as I previously had the 18-55 and was looking for a smaller do-it-all! The Sigma 18-50 f2.8 is PETITE in comparison and I've used it for plenty of paid and travel work, it's my go-to single lens if I can only have one! Check my video here ruclips.net/video/4TqYFRWzBt4/видео.html let me know your thoughts - I'd be happy to answer any other questions about it!
Thank you so so much for the nice comment! Honestly most of the time I used the camera set to aperture priority as that's the most important thing for my images. After that I would try and have my auto-iso maximum at 1000 most of the time unless in darker conditions! I hope this helps! What lens are you pairing with it?
Awesome video! Would you recommend this for an affordable camera that can do some amateur sport photography? I know there’s some better options but I like the camera but I want to make sure it can do the job for outdoor sports pictures!
Hi and thanks for watching! It could do some sport though it will come down more to your lens choice, ideally try and get one of the linear motor lenses to use with it!
If you don't look at the cameras but look at the lenses, what attracts you more? At the end of the day, the system you stay with will be based on lenses, not bodies as you'll likely upgrade the body before replacing lenses
Hey thanks for dropping by, I think it depends what lens and focus settings you’re using because your 35 f2 is supposed to be pretty good for fast focusing but I’m NOT sure on the breathing side of things. Different lenses do behave particularly differently but I don’t do enough video yet to comfortably comment I’m afraid!
Hi, thanks for the review. Maybe it is too late to react to this video but I have one question and maybe someone can help me decide. I have opportunity to buy x-s10 with 18-55 mm lens or x-s20 with 15-45 mm, with just slightly higher price.I don't plan to upgrade the lens in the near future (no money) so I would like to stick with the lens that comes with the camera. I think 18-55 mm is much superior. Do you think it is better to pick x-s10 with better lens over s20? My main concern is battery life but beside I think better lens is more important. What do you guys thinks?
Never too late! The 18-55 is a much better lens overall (owned both) BUT the battery life isn't THAT bad. Lens will always outlive the camera body so you're much better served spending your money there. The XS20 is excellent but picking up a used X-S10 will give you a phenomenal saving for good glass!
Thanks a lot for the fast reply. Yes I have come to the same conclusion. Lens is more important and if you say that battery is not that bad, I can live with that. 💪
Can I ask what you think of the video quality and stabilisation. Looking for a good budget Fujifilm that also has good videography as well as photography. Will i be disappointed with the quality in video?
Thanks for dropping by, you're absolutely right, I didn't clarify this. I meant the look of the camera! In terms of the images they look like all other X-Trans 4 images! Hope this helped!
you are such a nice person and your pics are amazing! : ) My question, I own the XS10 and use the 18-55mm f/2,8-4 R mainly for video, do you think I will get a clear difference with the XF 16-55mm F2.8 R? What lens did you use mainly for your videos? best!
Super kind words! Sorry for the late reply, I never for the 16-55 f2.8 because the weight and size was far too much in my opinion. I paired my XS10 with the sigma 18-50 in the end and made a video on why I think that's a great choice for video. For all my talking head video rolls recently though I've been using the Viltrox 23mm F1.4
Thanks for the comment, the Olympus is fantastic and it feels great in the hand but I'd be VERY VERY VERY cautious buying into a dying brand - have a little look at the last 5 years of history of Olympus and I'm pretty sure you'll be confident with your choice! Shame because they were fantastic!
@@FeralGinger I own the EMD1 MIi and several Fuji bodies plus lenses. I like my Olympus gear. The Olympus bodies aren’t as video feature rich as LUMIX or the XS10/20 or XH2/S. I don’t mind the OM system (the new owner of Olympus cameras) isn’t financially thrieving and may disappear. The question to ask is how much video you plan to do. As a photography centered user video isn’t important to me. If video is importantly to you look at LUMIX or the video centric Fiji bodies. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Great review, even though dials and looks aren't important IMO... XS-10 was my first digital camera. I had only used analog cameras before (Canon AE-1, Olympus OM-1n, Yashica-Mat and a bunch of 135 P&S...) and wanted to switch to digital for the longest time. I was considering Sony Alpha 7S III for years as I really wanted a FF to mount my vintage Canon FD lenses on it (was scared about the APS-C crop factor)... But XS-10 was 1000 euros cheaper and still a very good option for someone not making money out of my photography practice yet. XS-10 is still my only digital camera so maybe I'm a bit biased but I love how customable everything is and I don't really care about physical dials as I'm still changing aperture on my lenses and ofc manually focusing... Just bought my first digital lenses over the last 6 months (Fujinon 35mm f2 and Fujifilm XR 16mm f2.8) and been loving the easiness of auto-focus. I wouldn't see myself switching for any other cameras now cause I feel really equipped now with those two equivalents to FF 50mm and 24mm considering I also own FD Canon 24mm, 28mm, 50mm and 135mm... So a very complete set of lenses for almost nothing (I bought all my analog lenses for less than 50 euros each)
Thank you for the kind comment! Coming in with the X-S10 as first digital camera is a HIGH bar! If you're using manual lenses than that absolutely makes sense, I used to have a bunch, the only vintage glass I actually have now is in constant rotation on my Nikon F3 or Mamiya 645 haha. Some power house auto focus glass there too, that 35mm f2 is supposed to be extremely fast focusing! Glad you're enjoying the system and thank you for leaving a comment!
Thanks for checking out the video! Best price/quality is probably the Sigma 18-50 which i reviewed not long ago! ruclips.net/video/4TqYFRWzBt4/видео.html
Please could you advice if x-s10 autofocus is good enough to take pictures on child which are never stationary 😅? I am afraid I am not able to make sharp pictures. Thanks
👋 Can you please help, I’ve looked everywhere! I’m wanting to add some audio to a video, and I want the same sound, so I’m using the XS10 that shot the original video. Is there a way to record just the audio? When I’m doing it with the lens cap on, black screen, I’m still getting a huge file size, which is ridiculously awkward to deal with! If I record in a lower video quality, will it affect the audio quality in comparison? HELP! 😂 I’m still loving the XS10, by the way, it’s a great camera in so many ways and does come amazing photography… Thanks for your review, really useful…
Hey, thanks for dropping by" My understanding is that audio can only be recorded in addition to shot footage though it's not too difficult to split in post but I do appreciate it's a little bit of a pain, I've had the same issue myself getting sound effects ect. If you lower your video quality it shouldn't affect the audio quality AT ALL but it might actually be worth recording audio through your phone if this is an option? Fujifilm Audio pre-amps are not THE best and sometimes you'll be surprised what a phone can do for audio only files, especially regarding size issues! It's a fantastic camera and I wouldn't ever hesitate to recommend it! Appreciate you dropping by and leaving a comment and I hope this helps in someway!
@@FeralGinger Thanks so much for such a fast response 👌 It’s kind of what I suspected. We actually tried putting the Rode mic in the iPhone and the quality was pretty good, so we’re going to do that instead. I split the audio in post most of the time anyway, easier to deal with for what I edit. Thanks for confirming what I suspected, and for clarifying about the audio quality in lower quality video recording. Reassuring to know. Massive thanks!
Still love my x100s, named it Belfast (and I'm Russian and live in Moscow). But I also have a XS-10 named it Vladimir in honor of my favorite photographers Vladimir Lagrange, Vladimir Vyatkin and Vladimir Bogdanov and Vladimir Putin of course (he's definitely not a photographer). Great camera guys! Hello to all fujivods!
Haha this is amazing, I'm not familiar with the Vlad photographers but I will check them out - thank you! I've never actually named a camera even though I name everything else, might be time to start with my X-T4! Thanks for dropping by 🙏
Hey Carlos, thanks for dropping by and asking the question! Honestly both cameras are pretty similar and targeting the same audience and you won't go far wrong. The Canon has slightly better autofocus performance where as the FUJI has the IBIS. There are smaller details worth reading a comparison review but remember that you should be buying a system based on the lenses available as you'll change bodies more often than lenses and Canon don't actually allow that many to build lenses for their system, of course they do have some fantastic glass of their own. You can get pretty good deals on both systems but I believe the X-S10 will be a little cheaper nowadays! Hope this helps
Two VERY different systems. The lenses on the Fuji are much smaller, the Canon is full frame so better in low light. The Fuji has VASTLY better video features, the Canon has arguably better pro features, both are excellent cameras though!
The Fuji 18-55 is CONSIDERABLY brighter and sharper. The 18-55 is a standard zoom - the 15-45 is a powerzoom. The 15-45 is noticeably wider which makes it a better option for vlogging, the 18-55 is obviously a better all purpose photography lens due to the increased reach. The 15-45 is however, absolutely bloody tiny, almost pancake-like but it's images are quite a bit softer, I got rid of both in the end for the sigma 18-50 but if I had to have the Fuji 15-45 or the Fuji 18-55, I'd take the 18-55 every day, it's built better and takes much nicer images. Hope this helps and thanks for dropping by!
Hey Marko I've actually just done a video on that lens! ruclips.net/video/4TqYFRWzBt4/видео.html But the advantages are that it's MUCH better in low light, it creates much greater separation from the background, it's weather resistant. And for a constant f2.8 18-50, it's well priced and currently the smallest option available "as an AF compatible, F2.8 constant aperture zoom lens for APS-C." Hope this helps - Are you thinking of getting the lens?
I don't care about the cons or pros. I need it as a second camera for travel only . I am a canon user, so r7 is my main camera like bulky grip. My first camera was Canon 7d . I still think fujifilm x s 10 is wonderful and great and not so expensive. Never Like sony apsc cameras only the full Frame Sony.I hate when the viewfinder is to side not in the center even micro 4/3 have it in the center the viewfinder. Nikon mirrorless cameras suck and only the nikon dlsr where so great in the time before mirrorless
You're absolutely right (thanks for leaving a comment btw!) It's a shame with Nikon like you say, I used to use Nikon DSLR, Now I only use their film cameras haha, Sony took a long while to have good support for their APSC line but they are getting there now. The viewfinder placement is an interesting discussion, I've used both, I THINK I prefer centre placement due to being (annoyingly) left eye dominant! Thanks again!
Thanks for the reply. I have noticed sound ok if watch inside room. But outside like near to road I hearing background music more than your voice.. Is xs10 video is having rolling shutter problem? Is possible to shot video at 1080p with 120fps ? xs10 vs Sony a7 m2 . Which one is best...?
Really appreciate that, I'll try and calm down a bit on the music, I'm pretty new to this so I am thankful for any tips! I've not had any issues with Rolling shutter on the X-S10 and quite a lot of reviews say it's considerably better than most others in it's price range. It will shoot all the way to 1080p 240fps! A7 mkII is a FANTASTIC camera, it's a little dated but you can get some GREAT deals on it now. Realistically either will do what 90% of people actually need, I'd happily trust them to shoot paid work with either. The Fuji does have a CONSIDERABLY higher burst rate, better video features, lighter weight and eye tracking along with a bunch of other pros but the Sony DOES have weather sealing and a SLIGHTLY better battery on it's side. cameradecision.com/compare/Fujifilm-X-S10-vs-Sony-Alpha-A7-II Hope this helps!

thinking to buy this right now because of its affordablility, what do you think? i’m not familiar with fuji so i thought it would be a great way to start, was moving towards xe4 but xs 10 bcos of its stability however i do shoot a lot of videos so 4k is kinda a thing… but not as much !
Thanks for this video. I needed that. ❤❤❤
My pleasure, thanks for taking the time to comment 💪
What would you recommend? This will be my first mirrorless camera, as I have only owned DSLR ones. I'm torn between the X-S10 and the XT4!
Thanks for sharing this! But I'm curious on the video stabilization, do you think it's good enough without gimbal?
Check my video here ruclips.net/video/4TqYFRWzBt4/видео.html
let me know your thoughts - I'd be happy to answer any other questions about it!
Can you give us a video of your camera settings? I also have a fujifilm xs10 right now. and your photos are amazing
I'm really torn between XS10 or the Nikon Z50, predominately landscape , any thoughts? Thank you.
If you don't look at the cameras but look at the lenses, what attracts you more? At the end of the day, the system you stay with will be based on lenses, not bodies as you'll likely upgrade the body before replacing lenses
i find it’s AF quite lacking in video (breathing), is it possible changing lens affect AF quality? currently using fuji’s 35mm f2
Hi Feral.
I want to hear you opinion, which camera is better to buy, Fujifilm X-S10 vs Sony a6600 ???
I'm planing to take a photo, not video.
You said it doesn't have the "Fujifilm look" Do you mean the images or the camera itself?
Thanks for dropping by, you're absolutely right, I didn't clarify this. I meant the look of the camera! In terms of the images they look like all other X-Trans 4 images! Hope this helped!
@@FeralGinger thanks!
you are such a nice person and your pics are amazing!
I'm looking to get my first camera and debating between the X-s10 or OLYMPUS om-d e-m10 MARK iv

Great video man. Thanks. We share two similar interests: guns and cooking BBQ 🍗
thanks for dropping the comment! The two best hobbies out there man - though I've not had time out with the gun this year so far shamefully!
Hi which lens would be the best for this camera as i will make basketball videos and cinematic video and in budget friendly btw good video
Thanks
Hi Francesco, thanks for dropping by! The auto focus is PLENTY fast enough. I used to use mine regularly for capturing dogs mid-air!
@@FeralGinger thanks so much for the quick answer. May I ask you if you use special autofocus settings for better results? Thanks again
Nice! What camera strap is that?
Thanks for dropping by!
It was from a seller on ebay called cordweaver and the strap was a "cordy slim red rope and leather 38inch"
Hope this helps!
Great, thank you 🙏🏻😊✨👍✨
Very kind comment - thank you for leaving it :)
Is X-s10's battery life that bad, I was considering this, since X-S20 is priced to close to X-T4.
Hey thanks for dropping by, it's not AWFUL but I would definitely have 2-3 batteries for an intense day's shooting.
HELP! 😂
I’m still loving the XS10, by the way, it’s a great camera in so many ways and does come amazing photography…
Thanks for your review, really useful…
Hey, thanks for dropping by"
My understanding is that audio can only be recorded in addition to shot footage though it's not too difficult to split in post but I do appreciate it's a little bit of a pain, I've had the same issue myself getting sound effects ect.
@@FeralGinger Thanks so much for such a fast response 👌
It’s kind of what I suspected.
Thanks for dropping by 🙏
How does it compare to canon r10
Amazing camera. I shoot my videos with the X-S10.
It’s an absolutely fantastic camera for video work, what lens do you tend to pair it with for you videos out of interest?
@@FeralGinger Canon 17-55 2.8
Fuji X-S10 or Canon 5D Mark III?
Two VERY different systems. The lenses on the Fuji are much smaller, the Canon is full frame so better in low light. The Fuji has VASTLY better video features, the Canon has arguably better pro features, both are excellent cameras though!
Love the rain jacket shot, I see why you put it on the computer 🔥 great photos, beautiful landscapes.
Thank you so much Mike! Aye, my favourite shot of 2022! Truly appreciate you taking the time to check it out and comment!
@@FeralGinger Anything for a fellow entrepreneur/photographer. Best of luck in your future endeavors my friend.
What’s the difference for 18-55 Vs 15-45
Great review
@@FeralGinger Hey there, can you tell us all the advantages of that lens (Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 DC DN right?)
Hey Marko I've actually just done a video on that lens!
ruclips.net/video/4TqYFRWzBt4/видео.html
But the advantages are that it's MUCH better in low light, it creates much greater separation from the background, it's weather resistant. And for a constant f2.8 18-50, it's well priced and currently the smallest option available "as an AF compatible, F2.8 constant aperture zoom lens for APS-C."
Hope this helps - Are you thinking of getting the lens?
Beware of the latest firmware, makes the auto iso unusable....
Thanks for the update on this, I hadn't been made aware, has it been sorted yet?
@@FeralGinger sort of, has to be put in full auto mode then back to manual then it seems to work... it's a bit annoying to be honest
You look 🔥
What's bad in Nikon mirror less apsc bodies?
Voice not that much clear
Thank you for the construction criticism, I do talk quite quietly in this video and my microphone isn't the best - I'll work on it, thank you!

I cannot hear you, man! Wait till the baby in the adjacent room wakes up and THEN record the video :-) Cheers!
Thank you for the CC mate, I will do better next time! 🙏
Hi , Does X-S10 have noticeable better sensor than X100F ?
Not really, but you REALLY have to love that 23mm lens on the 100F
