lmao im a piano beginer and im gonna learn ocarina (: i want to learn to play atleast 5 or 6 instruments (piano , ocarina , drums , harp and acoustic guitar)
Bought an ocarina to learn during this shut down and I'm SO excited for learning! Struggling with understanding music theory, but it gives me something to do until my ocarina arrives.
As somebody who plays quite a bit of guitar, this is actually a great introduction into sheet music. If you didn't know most guitarists don't know how to read sheet music.
@@seanmcd.8307 Usually I try to transcribe it myself and share it with my Patreon supporters, but there are a few sites out there like www.ninsheetmusic.org and ichigos.com that are great resources!
hands down this is the best intro to music theory I've seen, for ocarina or not. that was a really concise & easy to understand explanation, I'm impressed
I miss playing the clarinet since that was the instrument I played for during middle school so I decided to play an instrument once again and I chose the ocarina. I'm so glad I took band class even if it was only 2 years due to how much easier it's helping me follow along
Ever since I was a child I was drawn to ocarina. 13 years later I got one and am now learning how to play it. I'm actually learning very fast. Faster than the other wind instruments I've tried.
Cant wait to refresh my memory with this new series! ❤️ I have come pretty far with the ocarina , but got to admit I have been slacking with the sheet-music ;p Got your book though, wich is excellent! So easy to understand (Sheet music felt so intimidating before) but now I understand the basic stuff and its only my lazyness that keeps me from progressing. Always end up playing rather than learning sheets, lol
Thank you so much for this series! I just got my ocarina in the mail and I've literally never played any instrument ever besides maracas so I've never learned to read notes let alone sheet music and a lot of the guide book had me scratching my head. (Sir, I'm just a nerd who wants to learn to play the ocarina because of Legend of Zelda what the heck is a sixteenth note??) Still scratching my head after this video but the theory became a little more clear to me and I have a feeling I actually won't be musically illiterate after this!
Yep, I’ve gotten a lot of great comments about how this series has helped people with learning to read sheet music and theory, no matter what your instrument is. Hope it helps you too!
Life saver absolute life saver. I stopped playing occarina because I couldnt find ligedament lessons but here I am standing in front a Ligedament lesson
I played band for 2 years before quitting (I played Clarinet) This makes me excited to buy one, as I still with to play an instrument! Plus I've always wanted to have an instrument that sounds like this! Since it's also treble clef I'll know a good deal from the start I believe!
around 5 years learning about “music” in school , I never understand what 4/4 mean in the beginning because the thing we learn only how to play the music.. I found this helpful
Thank you very much for your tutorial series. It helps me a Lot to understand and learn playing the ocarina ❤. Your videos are great to learn from the beginning. Thank you very much and greatings from germany 👍
I bought an ocarina from songbird ocarina maybe 7 or 8 years ago and it's been sitting in the original box with packing peanuts since. I couldn't figure out how to play it, it's a 6 hole but similar design to the one in the video, I tried watch David's videos back then but to no luck. I'm gonna attempt it again because just blowing into it, the sound is so beautiful
Its a good thing i learned music theory in junior high in band class. I used to play trumpet and had to borrow the school instruments but i wanted to countinue playing music because before i played trumpet i played flute in elementary in fourth or fifth grade and then in junior high i forgot everything i learned in band. Now i started high school this year but i had to get another english class so i couldn't join band.
Woah I never learned that sheet music part in school. I dont even own an Ocarina but I ended up learning something extremely useful anyways, Thank you!
Is the physical book available now? And inline with this video would you consider a video demonstrating how to use a metronome or foot tap to keep a beat? Keeping rhythm is by downfall. Thanks!
Hi David! I was wondering if you could do a review of the Sapling Alto Ocarina from STL! I purchased one recently and would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks so much.
Hey David! I bought the songbird Zelda Ocarina of Time replica, and it has a different finger hole design. Could you make some sort of extra, how to play ocarina video that shows different designs of ocarina? It would really help! Thank you for this video!
I have a background in low brass instruments, so I can read sheet music, but I have trouble adjusting to the treble clef again after reading nothing but bass clef in band for eleven years.
I'm currently in band and play clarinet, I'd say I'm fairly far ahead in it. Do you think, with this experience, I'd have an easier time learning ocarina?
Got a ocarina as a gift for my birthday recently. Is it a perfectly tuned ocarina? No, is that gonna stop me from struggling to learn songs from my favorite game series? No.
Hey David, I got a Night by Noble and for the lower flat notes (Eb and Db), I have to cover the left-hand subhole instead of the right one, and if I try the correct way I have to correct it by going super flat. This makes it tricky because I also have an SC ocarina that plays in tune with the correct fingerings. Anything you know that I can try to play it right, or am I just unlucky?
Hello David! Just discovered the Ocarina and have been enjoying your videos. Thank You for all your work on the videos! I would like to purchase your book but every time I go to your web page my web browser says that yours is not secure? Are you going to put this up on Amazon in the future? Look forward to your next video as I binge on all your others. 😀
These videos are great! I was wondering though.. I have a bunch of sheet music from when I played saxophone. Can I use those while playing ocarina or would I have to transfer all the notes?
