Hey Ocamigos! I decided to reboot this series since I have better equipment than I did a few years ago, and I've updated a lot of the songs and exercises to work alongside the method book, so be sure to SUBSCRIBE and hit the 🔔to know when the new episodes are released!
David Erick Ramos - Ocarina oh I’m so glad you’re rebooting this! I picked up the ocarina earlier this year (and even got a songbird alto C because of your recommendation!) because of your old series and am very excited to see this updated one as I learn more. (Also you’re an inspiration, ok thanks)

I was just about to comment this haha, turns out he was right mine is slightly off, playing a B for what should be a C, but hey I'm gonna just roll with it!
Ocarina sounds like a flute, but is much more compact, easily portable and affordable. Something worth to learn how to use. Thank you for your tutorials!
I got nervous when you were talking about avoiding the ceramic Zelda ocarinas, but we got the plastic STL Zelda ocarina for our Zelda obsessed son, and it is the one you recommend :) He is in love with it, and so we will be watching your videos to help him play the songs he loves so much! He already picked up a few tips from this first one that I know will give him a good start.
@@jacobc8036 Yeah, it was definitely an 'oof!' when he mentioned that. But like he said, they're pretty cheap (mine was only 14 bucks, and I believe that included shipping) and they at least can get you started as a way to learn if you even like the instrument. If you decide you like playing, you can always just put the cheapo one up on a book shelf as a decoration and buy a better one. Remember, the best instrument is the one you actually have in your hands. If its good enough to practice with, then it's good enough to get started.
my cousin bought me one for Christmas and sadly it's the bad one he mentioned (I can still play, but the high notes especially don't sound good lol). Might invest in that 30 dollar one to actually learn to play on though!
I've been following these classes (I'm at class 5 now) and I can already tell a difference in my playing. Complete beginner and the classes help learn the notes and also get used to playing too.
Never into Zelda, but into instruments and music. I do not consider this any more of a "kiddie" instrument than I do a recorder--a wonderful instrument. Both part of an ancient heritage, possessing a beautiful tone, and even a rich repertoire. Thank you for these videos!
AAH THE NOSTALGIA!! I tell ya, being along for the ride for the past few years has been awesome! Love hearing such a talented musician play. Maybe now I can get my sisters to play....
My brother got me the LoZ ocarina from a convention last night and I immediately heard how out of tune it is so I was wondering if it was something to do with the way I attempted to approach the whole ocarina playing thing. It's a bummer they're not tuned properly:") i think I'm going to stick to it and maybe buy a better one in the future! The ocarina is such a beautiful instrument 😭💛
For a month I've really wanted an ocarina, and have watched all of your lessons before even having one! When I got one as a gift, however, it was the exact one you said not to get. It's a bummer, but I'm going to go back through all of your lessons to practice in preparation for owning a better one :)
OMG what is this nostalgic feeling, man i remember seeing your great videos 10 years ago!!, what a beautiful chilhood, i make some nice wooden ocarinas, and i hope upload some cool videos of it, there is maybe a couple of years a didn't see a video of yours, but listening at your voice and the intro song was an instant memories hit, Thank you so much for keeping the ocarina world so alive through all this years man, you will ever be one of my favorite youtubers c: (Sry for the bad english! o: )
Thank you immensely David, Namaste 🙏🕉 I was wanting to learn flute playing for long but somehow did not happen and I am travelling, but I so wanted to play some musical instrument that was soothing and healing and easy to carry. I happened to watch a Video of Christie a music therapist and happened to see her playing a strumstick. So went to amazon to check it, and saw the unusual ocarina. First time I am actually hearing about it. Looked interesting and searched RUclips on how it’s played and saw your video. And this is so handy, so wish me the best. I am from India but travelling abroad for long now. Divine Bless you🙏🕉🦢and yes I am almost 58 years so pray I stay focused and consistent.
I actually started off in clarinet, so I already knew a lot of this, but this series has helped a lot! I’ve loved ocarinas since I was little and my mom took me to a Renaissance fair. This is a dream come true!
Hi, David. I really appreciate the new series, and I will recommend it to anyone who is looking for video tutorials to get started on the ocarina. I also wanted to clarify something about the beginner models, though. The Noble plastic ocarina and the Night by Noble plastic ocarina are actually two different models. The one you have in the video is the Noble plastic. They do look similar and the only obvious difference (other than the name on the outside) is that the Noble plastic has Japanese subholes like Noble ocarinas, while the Night by Noble has Taiwanese subholes like Night ocarinas (this is a bit ironic since Night is a Japanese ocarina company and Noble is Korean). Whether there is anything different about the tone, breath curve, etc. I don't know because I've never actually seen a copy of the Noble plastic in real life, only pictures and videos. Of course both ocarinas are manufactured by Noble. The Night by Noble is a joint project between the two companies (both ocarinas include Noble's trademark shaped tip).
Thanks again! Excited about buying an Ocarina. The first one you discussed, the name was not put on screen. But thanks for naming & showing different ones that are of some quality. Yrs ago, I thought about buying one. Now must be the time to do it. Thanks for making this free for all your viewers! :)
Excellent and thorough information...I'm a retired band director and everything you covered (breathing, hand position, sound production) are all things I constantly emphasized to my students...very cool!
This reminds me of my first time in band class, how he was teaching us. I was playing the trumpet at that time though. I had gotten pretty good, then I stupidly followed what my mom told me to do and just donated the trumpet to the school and I've regretted it ever since. Even the band teacher was telling me to keep it.
I just got into ocarina last year when I watched Gary Cooper in the the 1941 film Meet John Doe. In this film Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan play two ocarina and harmonica duets. So I purchased an Ocarina Winds 12 hole ceramic alto c, but it just kind of sat around. I have played many folk flutes over the decades, but ocarina seems to perplex me, so I look forward to these tutorials, but in the last month I decided I am going to learn this one. My first love for this little instrument was with the 1968 Disney film Pablo and the Dancing Chihuahua I saw way back in the day when I was a little kid.
you can tell a lot about people by their walls teachers and youtubers alike. i took one look at your posters and immediately thought, "hey I'm going to enjoy learning from this dude"
Great job man!! I've messed around with ocarina for a long time but never got to series besides 1 concert. Your videos make me motivated to play a little more seriously. I only have done 1 cover in a long time, and it was s cover of your cover so I bet you could tell your my inspiration to keep playing the Ocarina
Your cover of Cosmo Canyon inspired me to learn the Ocarina. Thank you for putting together this video series. I'm on day one and I'm already playing Ode to Joy.
I've had this authentic ceramic ocarina my brother brought as a gift on his trip to China around 8 years ago. I wish I learned to play all this time. I'd love to listen to LoZOoT theme every now and then, can't imagine how great it'd be to actually play it myself!
My son has a hang pan and I’m looking for something I can maybe play along with him. I’ve been looking at several options but I believe this is sounding like what I’m looking for. Thank you for helping me make a decision. I fully intend to watch all your videos once it arrives.
Oh my word this seems perfect for me! The only reason I didn't buy one off Amazon is because I was worried about the quality of sound being a complete noob, I wanted to find the tutorial stuff first to make sure I was covered
It doesn’t mean that you have a bad ocarina, you could have one of the good ones! And even if this is all you have to get started, just keep in mind if there any any flaws, they aren’t necessarily from your playing, it could be the ocarina.
Your information is great and I want to thank you for making this series! I am a complete noob just getting one of these after about 20 years of wanting to (My Knight by Noble is coming in a couple hours, bought it based on your recommendation in another vid and starting to learn today!). One constructive suggestion though is slow down a little. I was having a hard time following what you were saying. I slowed the speed of the video to 75% to a more conversational speed. I make that suggestion to a lot of content creators because many tend to go too fast and it makes it difficult or overwhelming when trying to learn things.
I remember finding your channel and finding your original "How to Play Ocarina" videos. I bought a nice ceramic Zelda ocarina (not the cheap one luckily), watched your videos, but I gave up on the practice. All I know is "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" lol. I'm so glad you rebooted this series, I'm not gonna skip practice this time! :)
This is fantastic as I was recently dabbling in the old series. I got an ocarina before the holiday and was planning on diving in once everything settled down. I'm excited that you're rebooting this just in time. I will be following very closely.
I just bought my first focalink ocarina this weekend! I've been wanting to learn the ocarina for a bit because I love the quality of sound, and it would be a lot more portable than my current instruments. The adventure begins (and also the grueling hours of practice lol) :)
I must say that you are an excellent teacher. I've followed your tutorial series up to the 3rd one thus far and have enjoyed it immensely. I noticed that you push your students to do something a little more difficult each time but you balance it out with either the practice pieces being slightly more difficult and the final song being a little simpler than the practice pieces or vice versa. Well thought out. Being able to pause the video whilst I practice, practice, practice before proceeding further is certainly a plus! Lol! And I don't have to worry about the teacher becoming impatient! Lol! (I'm a little slow nowadays.) I, personally, decided to review over the first three lessons before proceeding further which just seemed to reinforce the whole learning experience. I'm an X-teacher myself but a different genre (Flamenco Dancer/Teacher for 23 years - so, yeah, I'm no spring chicken! Lol!) so I know what I'm talking about. I just wanted to put the thumbs up for you and let people out there know how good you really are. You deserve it! Plus I've subscribed which is unusual for me! Lol! All the best and stay safe! Dresdel
Oii, well I'm a person who always dreamed of learning to play an ocarina, I don't understand much of English, so this text that I wrote I translated on Google translator, I was wondering if you could put subtitles in Portuguese please, because I really wanted to learn to play but I don’t understand English very much, so could you do that for me?(I really appreciate your work when you play ocarina, you play really well!)
I played trombone in my highschool band and I have ordered an ocarina recently and I appreciate the description of how to play the ocarina differently from a brass instrument
I bought that black Noble ocarina and just got it today. I feel really relieved knowing I made a good choice in brand. Thank you! I may try the Osawa brand later.
I got the night by noble for Christmas, didn’t know if it was good or not... hit play on this video and you were holding it! Thanks for making the series:) can’t wait to play
Funny thing, this video was released around the time I picked up my ocarina. It was 2019 and my friends and I were going to our yearly convention ACEN. I had always wondered about the random ocarina playing I'd hear so I decided to follow it and found a vendor selling them. On a whim I picked one up, and it proceeded to collect dust. I've always been kind of shy about practicing things like this around people and that was about the time my friend had started taking lessons from home for college. So I couldn't subject him to my tooting, you know? Flash forward two years later and I'm less shy about it now. I'm looking forward to just being able to play an instrument, really. I've always envied people who could make music, but never gave it a try for multiple reasons.
After five years from getting my first ocarina but unfortunately not practicing much at all, and before that spending so much time on The Ocarina Network forums back in the day, now looks like the time to really get serious!
How well do you think one would be able to march with an ocarina? I think it'd be interesting to watch an ocarina on the field because it's not usually seen in marching band. Just curious
I'm really excited for this- I first found your old series on this, but when I looked into the comment section of the first video I realized there was a reboot! :D I have a feeling this will be the first instrument I actually stick with-
David, will the physical copies of the book be restocked soon? Also, you are awesome! Been following you since your first video in 06. Crazy how it has been over 12 years. Keep up the amazing work!
Greate video, I've learned a lot. (much more as in the Tutorial in german I've begun long Time ago) I lookimng forward, to the rest of the series and try hard, thanks to you. (beg my pardon for bad language. Those who find grammar or writing errors, may keep them safe and sound ;-P )
Thanks for the video! Subscribed and will continue to the next part tomorrow. I just purchased and received my 12 Hole Tenor Aria Ocarina last week and really looking forward to the many practice sessions to come.
I asked my dad if he could get me a toy ocarina a few days later he gives me a real one and I guess I'm playing this for an hour trying to figure out if my tone is flat I'm a trumpet player and I wanted this!
Hello, I have 2 questions! 1. Why do you recommend only plastic ones for starters? Is it a price thing or a "don't drop a ceramic one" thing or tuning? 2. The 3 ocarinas you mentionned cost about 30 EUR in France, but I see some that cost 15-20 EUR (yes, mostly chinese zelda ocarinas but also "non zelda" ones). And they are ceramics. Those ones are kinda crappy? Thanks!
Not him, but here's what I've found in my researching: Plastic ones don't sound quite as good as ceramics. But they are cheaper and harder to break, so it's better to not spend somewhere in the ballpark of 50 USD on an instrument only to find you don't like it or you break it (since holding it properly is a skill in of itself). You can find decent plastic ocarinas of course, there's nothing wrong with using them. Tuning shouldn't be an issue, though I've heard sometimes the plastic ones are harder to breathe into/get an accurate pitch. Any cheap ceramic ocarinas you find are most likely trash. Any reputable site that sells ocarinas usually lists them, again, in the 50 USD range for a 12 hole, might be lower for 6 hole. Most sites I'm seeing with low prices like that are eBay, Walmart, and notorious scam sites like Wish. You've probably made a decision by now but hope this helps.
@@rosen_venus to add to this, plastic ones are usually made with a mold, which means the finger holes etc are in the perfect spot, Cheaper ceramic ones may not have been made with those holes being the same size or in the right position making the instrument out of tune. Having one that you know is tuned correctly helps you to know if you're out of tune because of technique or poor instrument quality.
I bought the night by noble on amazon, which you said as recommendations and the cheap one you mentioned (zetong). The tips and lessons are great. I haven’t started yet, but soon.
As someone totally new to ocarinas, are the fingers the same between C alto ocarinas and C bass ocarinas? I ask, because I love the sound of lower pitched flutes. If these are affordable but effective ways to dip my feet into the waters of ocarina flutes, while still developing my knowledge set for bass ocarinas, it would be awesome. I play low brass, but for things like drum circles and playing with guitar players, I would love a lower flute sound to bring to the table. So something that has a relaxed, non-technical embouchure (unlike concert band flutes), that won't compromise my brass embouchure is very appealing. Just curious your thoughts on those topics.
Buying myself the night by nobel ocarina soon, since i somehow lost my focalink. Litterally have no clue where it went, but glad to be getting back into playing :)
I play the trombone (treble cleft) and I wanted to learn another instrument,so I picked Ocarina.I was wondering where I could get music for the Ocarina from online. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be really helpful. :)
I got one of those from STL ocarinas and it's the best sounding ocarina i have out of the other's.. i Spent 200 on one from Spencer's ocarinas and it does not compare to the quality of my blue zelda one. I got really lucky with this one as it is 100% tuned properly and sounds absolutely amazing and also very comfortable to hold.
Hey ! Thanks a lot about your videos that I discover today. Maybe you have already create a video about the air flow. I would be interested in know how to make the little vibrato when I make the air out in the instrument. Can you maybe explain this technic or recommand a tutorial video for that ? Thanks you ❤
Will physical copies of your book be restocked and available for purchase at any point? Is there any way I could get my hands on a copy (or go on a mailing list)? I am international and know I could buy the PDF (and save shipping), but I really struggle with resource material/text books in digital format and prefer to have something wherever possible... failing that do you mind if I purchase the PDF and have it printed myself (strictly for personal/non-commercial use)? TIA man and cheers for sharing your knowledge. I've spent half a lifetime wanting to learn ocarina and now I have my Night by Noble I'd love to give it a serious go. I'm not musically minded at all and your material is one of the few sources that hasn't intimidated me so I'd really appreciate it 🥲
Thank you very much for your tutorial series. It helps me a Lot to understand and learn playing the ocarina ❤. Your videos are great to learn from the beginning. Thank you very much and greatings from germany 👍
I am torn between the night by noble and the coda edc. While I know they are two different instruments, I like the entry level price and simplicity of the NBN, but love the versatility of the CODA. I'm not a passive consumer (I'm a 13th year guitarist and dabble in violin and keys) so this is a hard decision. I have no experience in flute or ocarina type instruments. What do you recommend?
I actually bought two ocarinas, one just to use it as a prop and one to use it. The one was this zelda ocarina and the other one is bought from thomann. The thomann one is actually made from Johann Rotter (three years ago) and it is a very good one.
I got the 19$ Amazon one and it's In tune. The only drawback is hitting high F. It's a shallow sound. Other ocarinas have a fuller sound with all holes open
I'm just going to repeat what I said on the other video, Re european shipping. I know david touched on it in the video itself but I think it bears repeating: From my experience, the Focalink definitely is most accessible in Europe. I'd seen the noble, and never heard of the STL plastic, but I bought the Focalink from Thomann and had it shipped from Germany. It's important to note that if you're shipping into the EU from outside it, you'll have to pay import VAT, plus likely a handling fee of about 8-12 EUR. I know it's that way in the UK at least and I imagine other countries are the same. If you buy from within the EU, all you have to worry about is the actual shipping fee. While I'd have liked a Night by Noble myself, It would have cost in the region of €45-€50 to import one to the uk, where the focalink only came to about €28.
I noticed that the Night ocarina you are holding in your hand has different hole arrangements than the one I have. Mine in an AC. Is the one you are holding a SC?. I am enjoying your instructions and book.
This was super helpful :D I am picking up Ocarina and certainly needed the help :D I been practicing how to move my fingers up and down the scales and getting a feel about how much air I need to push for most of the notes c:

My son has a hang pan and I’m looking for something I can maybe play along with him. I’ve been looking at several options but I believe this is sounding like what I’m looking for. Thank you for helping me make a decision. I fully intend to watch all your videos once it arrives.
Oh my word this seems perfect for me!
The only reason I didn't buy one off Amazon is because I was worried about the quality of sound being a complete noob, I wanted to find the tutorial stuff first to make sure I was covered
my heart dropped when you said not to buy the exact ocarina I have
It doesn’t mean that you have a bad ocarina, you could have one of the good ones! And even if this is all you have to get started, just keep in mind if there any any flaws, they aren’t necessarily from your playing, it could be the ocarina.
I bought one of those zelda ones a few years back as a decorative thing but i figure i might as well learn how to play it,
...not me having the exact ocarina he said not to use....
Me too! 😭
Sameeeee
Did you get a new one?
oh, where did you get yours?
This is fantastic as I was recently dabbling in the old series. I got an ocarina before the holiday and was planning on diving in once everything settled down. I'm excited that you're rebooting this just in time. I will be following very closely.
I just bought my first focalink ocarina this weekend! I've been wanting to learn the ocarina for a bit because I love the quality of sound, and it would be a lot more portable than my current instruments. The adventure begins (and also the grueling hours of practice lol) :)
This is very easy & comprehensive for a few first baby steps into Ocarina practice. Thank you a lot David!
About 10 years ago i wished to learn this and all courses online were paid including yours. Thank you a
Bought a nice one 8 years ago on etsy, could never find any learning materials. Good to see there is plenty of info.
Just bought your book digitally and will be receiving my first ocarina on tuesday. Very excited
My name is Carina....and I'm like oooooohhhh
Oh... Carinaaaaaa
Haha Same 😁👌
OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH CARINAAAAAAAAA
U didn't need to do that to my eyes
carina literally means pretty in Italian that's so cute
After five years from getting my first ocarina but unfortunately not practicing much at all, and before that spending so much time on The Ocarina Network forums back in the day, now looks like the time to really get serious!
How well do you think one would be able to march with an ocarina? I think it'd be interesting to watch an ocarina on the field because it's not usually seen in marching band. Just curious
I love how his room looks pretty much exactly the same lol
0:56 me, looking to my ocarina that i spend some months to buy : 🦍
Not a bad start to the new Docjazz Cinematic Universe
I am very excited for this reboot, I have been wanting to learn the Ocarina for a while and I think this will be the kick in the butt I needed!
I'm really excited for this- I first found your old series on this, but when I looked into the comment section of the first video I realized there was a reboot! :D I have a feeling this will be the first instrument I actually stick with-
The way u teach the instrument reminds me of my old music teacher big props👌
Me literally holding the Legend Of Zelda ocarina:
Him: “So you don’t wanna get that Ocarina”
Me: goddammit
Ikr 😭
Bought an ocarina found this tutorial, and the first one you recommended is the one I bought. Feels good.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The series I've waited for a long time! :)
Incredibly cool that you have these lessons up here. Great teaching style, easy to understand and follow. Thanks amigo!!
David, will the physical copies of the book be restocked soon? Also, you are awesome! Been following you since your first video in 06. Crazy how it has been over 12 years. Keep up the amazing work!
Yes, hoping to have them re-stocked by the end of June!
@@DavidErickRamos Thank you!
I asked my dad if he could get me a toy ocarina
a few days later he gives me a real one
and I guess I'm playing this for an hour trying to figure out if my tone is flat
I'm a trumpet player and I wanted this!
I thought you stopped doing videos, its good to know that you're back now
Yes! I am so excited for this series! Thanks for uploading so much recently :)
Who is here ,because you want to play Zelda music
Me 🙋♀️
Same
Me lmao

No I want to add it to my own.
Thanks!
Not him, but here's what I've found in my researching:
Plastic ones don't sound quite as good as ceramics.
For getting used to ceramic ones and
For the dont drop it until you get used to holding ocarinas
@@rosen_venus to add to this, plastic ones are usually made with a mold, which means the finger holes etc are in the perfect spot, Cheaper ceramic ones may not have been made with those holes being the same size or in the right position making the instrument out of tune. Having one that you know is tuned correctly helps you to know if you're out of tune because of technique or poor instrument quality.
I got a 4 hole strawberry one n my husband bought a 6 hole gorgeous green one at a ren fair and just learning, this is great stuff to know, thank you!
I bought the night by noble on amazon, which you said as recommendations and the cheap one you mentioned (zetong). The tips and lessons are great. I haven’t started yet, but soon.
Just got my Night by Nobel in the mail for my birthday I'M SO EXCITED
Oh wow. Thank you so much, its such a big difference in sound, to play it the right way. Can't wait for more.
I just got a beautiful porcelain Ocarina from my oldest sister for my fifteenth birthday and I'm so excited to learn 😀 wish me luck
Thank you for what you do good sir. Happily subscribed today. Excited to get learning this lovely instrument.
my mom after buying me one: OMG ITS A SIDEWAYS RECORDER.
Me: Idk how to play it....
my mom: PLAYS MEGALOVANIA

my dad thought I was smoking pot with it.....
On the next episode of things that didn't happen...
LMFAOO 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
I just got my 12 hole night by Noble ocarina!!! Let's go!!! Time to get it in!!!
I
Was
So close
To
Getting
The
Zelda ocarina
From Amazon
I’m so glad I watched this
I got one of those from STL ocarinas and it's the best sounding ocarina i have out of the other's.. i Spent 200 on one from Spencer's ocarinas and it does not compare to the quality of my blue zelda one. I got really lucky with this one as it is 100% tuned properly and sounds absolutely amazing and also very comfortable to hold.
Did you get a plastic or ceramic one from STL?
Hey ! Thanks a lot about your videos that I discover today. Maybe you have already create a video about the air flow. I would be interested in know how to make the little vibrato when I make the air out in the instrument. Can you maybe explain this technic or recommand a tutorial video for that ? Thanks you ❤
Revamping the series pretty much the week after I decide to finally pick up the ocarina I got a few years ago. It's totally a sign :P
I'm not musically minded at all and your material is one of the few sources that hasn't intimidated me so I'd really appreciate it 🥲
Love your videos! I personally have a wooden ocarina I like to play
Cool I wish I had a wood one I like to make my own out of clay
@@smithy1578 I found a wooden for $20 on ebay it has a very good sound quality
Cool I might check one out
Him: I wouldn't recommend the zelda ocarina
Me: emotional damage
What a great day to play with my Zelda ocarina ...
I’ve been waiting for this video. Thanks!
Thank you very much for your tutorial series. It helps me a Lot to understand and learn playing the ocarina ❤. Your videos are great to learn from the beginning. Thank you very much and greatings from germany 👍
Thank you so much for the classes 😌💕
Hello, I am from Peru, I just bought the digital book, it is very interesting. Greetings
I can't wait to start learning how to play ocarina and re learn how to read music again.
How crazy is it i looked for how to use one and you poped up that's wild 🎉🎉 was just in your tiktok stream
I got the 19$ Amazon one and it's In tune. The only drawback is hitting high F. It's a shallow sound. Other ocarinas have a fuller sound with all holes open
I'm just going to repeat what I said on the other video, Re european shipping. I know david touched on it in the video itself but I think it bears repeating:
From my experience, the Focalink definitely is most accessible in Europe.
While I'd have liked a Night by Noble myself, It would have cost in the region of €45-€50 to import one to the uk, where the focalink only came to about €28.
dude im so glad this is free
I noticed that the Night ocarina you are holding in your hand has different hole arrangements than the one I have. Mine in an AC. Is the one you are holding a SC?. I am enjoying your instructions and book.
just ordered an ocarina off amazon, cant wait to play the solo from free bird
This was super helpful :D I am picking up Ocarina and certainly needed the help :D I been practicing how to move my fingers up and down the scales and getting a feel about how much air I need to push for most of the notes c:
