Building a Raised Bed

We're expanding our garden with four new raised beds. Raised beds are a great way to control soil quality; rich soil means better harvests, and more nutritious harvests. Follow along as we walk you through each step to build a sturdy, pretty wood-and-metal bed.

They look very nice! I'm disabled and a couple years ago I purchased a standing raised bed. It has locking wheels and a shelf underneath. I love it and it lets me continue to garden, although on a much smaller scale. 🌱

I mix equal amounts of peat moss, compost, and perlite (recommended by Mel Bartholomew in Square Foot Gardening).
