I don't think anyone is upset, I'm certainly not! As I stated in my comment yesterday, I'm happy for you. However, the entire conversation you made and lead us all to believe was you were sick and tired of the expensive boats and you were looking at running a 17/18 ft boat and keeping the price around $35K, your words. Now, I've got a Xpress H17 with a 90 yamaha, I bought brand new and paid right at that $35K. Personally, I don't care what boat you went with, but I believe the comments of everyone was about you did not do what you said you were going to do. Again, more power to you as if any of us were offered a boat deal with a bigger, nicer, more expensive boat, we'd all jump on it!

Well he made it sound like he wasn't going to give in to the hype of the high cost of boats and made it sound like he was going to private purchase a boat and get in the trenches with the everyday old school angler. Good for him on getting a sponsor deal out of it. He's making payments for 6-7 months and unloading it and going to pocket some cash and order another one.

The sponsor deal is why he went with the more expensive boat. At least he admitted as much in his follow-up video. I would have done the same thing. Most anyone would have. But he should have been upfront and said from the get go he was looking for another sponsor.

None of the comments seem like anyone was offended by your boat choice. I believe the offense came from you talking all summer about not buying an expensive boat. Yes you said smaller but also really complained about the prices. Why not just be honest up front and say I took a boat deal and got a more expensive boat?

  • @mikeharris130
    @mikeharris130 21 день назад +15

You have mentioned several times that your budget was $30,000 ish. There is no way any of us could buy the boat you are getting for $30,000. I figure, as it is for sale in a few months, that you have it on a "pro plan". Nothing wrong with that, and I applaud you for being able to do it that way, but I figured you were buying a "local, one owner", being as you were budgeting only $30,000, not a new $55,000 Vexus (I built one). Just a bit of a disconnect. Congrats on the deal.

Guys it’s not rocket science. He looked for a boat in that price range realized that it wasn’t going to happen. Because of his name he got a deal with the dealer/manufacturer. Good job, years of hard work ended in a good deal, that’s the way it should be. And iam sure you could still buy 2 of these rigs for the cost of 1 top of the line Ranger with a 250.

I got my 1880 with a 135 ETec in 2019. Last year of the ETec. Absolutely love the boat. The engine and boat has performed great. I fish small lakes and large ones, Fork and Sam Rayburn. Yes wind does affect it more, but the spot lock helps. Easy to launch and trailer, being retired I fish a lot by myself. One note about the launch. Go slow and stay straight off the trailer, the front end will come around fast. Congratulations on a great boat.

I only fish for fun now, no tournaments, but I downsized a few years ago from a Z21 Ranger to a custom Ranger RT188 with a jet unit. I would have went with Vexus when I bought the RT188, but couldn't find a dealer to customize it with a jet. You made a good choice! BTW, 30k budget would have been tough these days.....

I think the fact that you said you were going to go with a “17-18ft”boat, and stay in the “30k price range” and “115-150hp “
But you ended up with a near 20’ boat (19’10”) with a 150 (which that is what you said) and I think most know unless you got a heck of a pro staff deal - that it’s well over the 30k price range.
I think that’s what the issue is/was. The action didn’t quite match your words. This boat is closer to the same size as the Skeeter you had than it is to the “17-18’” boat you said you were going to get. Also, the weight of that boat is just as heavy as a comparable glass boat. 🤷🏼‍♂️
That being said, it is a nice rig for a tin boat! Congratulations

I Own a 1980avx 2022, luv it, he is correct the boat is the BEST aluminum bass boat on the market today. Keith and his entire crew are on top of their game. Pricing, im sure he got a sweet deal because of his history, good for him. That boat fully rigged with midrange electronics should run in the 50k's range. If anyone out there is thinking about a Vexus, go for it, you will not be disappointed. NO i do not work for them, i just know from my own personal experiences owning many bassboats, that these guys have looked at every varible possible, and have corrected, reengineered, and improved/enhanced the entire boat from when they started.

I bought a brand new 2021 Vexas 1980 and it was a problem. The paint pealed off it 2x - had to send it back to the factory 2x, The trailer started tear up the tires. Vexas factory fixed that as well. The non carpet flooring in the cockpit started to bubble up. I see that the Googan RUclipsr Lake Fork guy has his Vexas 1980 back at the factory for a crack in the hull. The boat handled really well in the water but they have had quality problems. Sorry Randy for bringing this up but the quality has not been great and hopefully this is behind them!

Then, I started to do more research about it, and it seemed to have a big problem with hulls cracking . But on a positive note, they all said vexus covered it . That's a good thing. The bad i heard was that it sometimes takes 4 to 6 months to get your boat back. So, hopefully, they resolved that issue. The biat does look good for sure.

My take on how I see it, he was doing his homework bc that’s what Rockin Randall does, and pricing new boats in the money range he talked about isn’t there so if something drops out of the sky on you who’s going to say no to what it’s exactly if not more than what you’re looking for? Let’s face it you could buy a used boat and probably get one in that price range but a used boat could develop problems under a grueling schedule, new vs used a no brainer

I did watch the video. As well as many others. The whole time you have been talking about down sizing to a smaller boat. 17-18 footer with a 115 or 150. You also claimed you were only looking to spend about$30,000. So the only thing you did that you said you were looking to do was get a 115-150 hp motor. Also maybe you got a heck of a deal on that Venus, which is great. But just saying you didn’t do what you were preaching about. Glad you got the boat though, it will be a great piece of equipment. Not hating just stating.

My question is why did you buy new? You can buy a great used boat with low hours for under $30k. Could buy a 10 year old boat and repower for $50k less than new.

I would bet that the boat you have decided to buy is about a 60.000 dollars but it is a beautiful boat but still cheaper than a fiberglass.

If you wanted a slower boat you sure got it. A 19'10" long boat with a 95" beam with only a 150 on it is going to be a slug. I have a boat 1" shorter than that with a 225 on it. Keep in mind back in the day when we ran 150 hp boats like the Ranger 361V those were only 17.5'-17' 10" long boats with 88-90" beams.

Bro he's a tournament angler it still makes sense for him to get a really high end boat. His boat is literally half the price or way less than many anglers. I mean his boat is less than the electronics alone many pros run....
