I don't usualy agree with everything you say but you bring some points that are sometimes a necessity to discuss. Maybe going away from of all the drama content would even do good to you. I got pleasantly surprised to be honest of the debunk part of the video and I'm glad you mention the toxicity and racisim present in the private server community ; like you said, blizzard has a big hand-off policy and don't ban people for having shitty/horrendous behaviour. Having a server enforcing their Tos feels good and makes it a place, at least in my opinion, more secure and safe to enjoy all our common passion. Great video.
Twow is pretty awesome. I’d like to see a HC server more than a PvP as I think that would be a more even pop split but if things continue to boom, maybe we need both.

Something I also like is the depth of the content. Gear from reputation from cities! (Such as sentinel's armor). Expansion of small side reputations which had almost no function, being given extra function such as a mount at exalted (a bit of a TBC vibe, but I dig it as that was one part of TBC that felt very vanilla.) The new quests all feel great. The GM team there feel fantastic as they take a very professional stance on how they deliver their warnings. The community is very nice and fun and the banning of activities that while more effecieint in a gameplay progress idea, but active encourage toxic gameplay and rule breaker ((Like GDKP's)) is also great! The game also has secrets including a Cow Level (Yes. And a Cow raid boss). Dozens of new rare mobs who drop stuff like vanilla rares should, but one even drops a zhevra mount. There is a ton of content to enjoy without putting in a single dime. I personally put in a little money after reaching 50 hours of gameplay because honestly, why buy a 70$ game that i'll play for maybe 60-90 hours when they took Vanilla, kept the feeling with nothing but expansion of that vanilla love and now I've sunk over 200 hours on server. It helps keeps the lights on for them and to pay their team to continue to develop this love letter to the community in a way blizzard just won't.
Man, I tried this server and after a month I just couldn't play on it anymore. There are just WAAAAAAY too many players and it's extremely hard to get certain quests done or find a good, unoccupied grinding spot. I switched to Netherwing and while there are maybe half as many players as Turtle I can actually play the game instead of waiting around for mobs to spawn. Plus it is TBC which is the best WoW expansion IMO and the PVP is better than Turtle by a massive margin. By comparison Turtle-WoW's new-ish pvp server is basically dead by comparison to Netherwing (although their PVE server is massive). Netherwing is the best TBC server and Warmane has the best WOTLK one. Turtle WoW would be amazing if they split their PVE server into two separate ones or actually put some real effort into their PVP server.
I've been playing on turtle casually for a long time. Right now it is a bit over populated which is good for finding dungeon groups, but finishing world quests is very difficult because of the competition to kill specific mobs.

Turtle wow was fun and enjoyable before the massive invasion 😅 but you know was a blessing in disguise because I was very addicted negleting my life for the game. I really liked the high elf and goblin starting zones. But maybe once the pop falls I'll go back but for now I'ma take a break. When I was playing turtle it was peak 5k players, 15k now? wow. It's a good server I had ton of fun, I stopped lv 50-52(?), the areas after just didn't excite me much, I have already done 20 hours of BRD in blizzard classic and was not looking forward to repeating that. Stopped after 3 runs of this exact dungeon in the video. 1-40wow is still crack though. One thing I absolutely loved on TWOW is how because gold wasn't inflated, while levelling I could afford all sort of random small "epic" item improvements, made me feel like back in the day when you didn't just wait reaching 60 to finally farm gear that actually matters and you put effort into it while at lv10,20,30 because you didn't know better
You can shit all you want, but you can't deny the fact that Turtle WoW is well structured private server. I didn't had a lot of expectations when I started, but after 1 day was blown away they way they handled things, and how much content they added to the game (ex blizzard ideas + innovation). The biggest plus for the server is all these new quests, areas, zones, dungeons, raids that make sense with the current lore of this version of WoW. None of the new items feel overpowered, or out of place. And in before (dude, this server has shop), well ofc it has, they actually pay to professional devs to do things for the game, and those guys aren't cheap either. Not even close. The amount of content they added is worth every donation you did. Does it have toxic dingleberries? Ofc! Like in every MMO, retail, or private, you got these muppets. Turtle WoW is currently the best private server for vanilla + content, all done in very professional way. Like every private server there's always drama. My advice to you is not pay attention to any of those if doesn't affect you. There's no GDKP which is a big plus, no bots, nothng, just pure classic. Have fun and if you haven't played Turtle, now is the time.
@@server1ok They do charge by the hour, or project - it depends. Bug fixes are free of charge obviously. I started on TWoW when it had about 250-300+ players only, and it was on HC. In fact I was one of the first HC runners and leading the race and because of that I had a chance to speak with Torta couple of times back then. I heard they are working mostly with Russian and Ukranian devs and they are paying them very solid for the work done. Don't be mistaken just because they are russian is cheap, because they aren't. Just to be clear; they do pay to their devs or patches will never happen. In fact new dungeon and a raid is coming soon so there's that.

I think they'll bring in the alpha version of outlands at some point, the one thats "connected" to the Deadmines dungeon. Not sure how that will play out lore wise, but we can hope.
I tried to create an account but it wouldnt take. The website was bugged or something. Anyway, I tried another one and by audio kept on crashing minutes into playing it. I said to hell with it and uninstalled vanilla wow. Sad because I had the urge to play too. It's been 2 years since I played wow. Last time I played wow, it was on vanillawow. Not sure it's still around anymore. I had no problems there.

I checked it out, and all of the content addons are so cool but I eventually tapped out due to the balance being weird. It seems like tWoW has extra love for some classes and a lack of love for others; the lacking being rogues and shamans, and the extras being Paladin paladin and paladin haha. I love questing and leveling up and acquiring loot and such but I'm also a massive, massive fan of PvP and I can't abide the hammer being slammed on certain classes. I don't even main rogue haha, but I dislike that sort of baleful vibe some of the balance changes seem to flaunt.
Stay away from the server (at least for now). China has flooded the server causing the insane queue times. And because they're buying the store mounts like crazy, the GMs are actively ignoring them botting and giving them priority queue times
What Turtle WoW has done is what Blizzard should have done to WoW instead of all the stupid expansion packs that did nothing but make the world goofy and kill the game.
My biggest problem and why i wont play on this is something he hit on with hc players on the server. So annoying when you cant group. Make a separate server.....
As i mentioned in a reply, my biggest issue with Turtle WoW and why i can't jump on it, despite some cool ideas and features here.I can't get behind Turtle WoW's GM's Speech policing policies. And to offer up a Practical solution here, having Worldchat where everyone from the start is just thrown in is a bad idea, because you have people that are ***Toxic*** along with well to do people, it should've just been the standard have the general/tradechat, that's it. Having a Worldchat is also just asking for trouble, the game naturally would filter those people out as you'd lvl up along with a lvl requirement to speak which is standard practice on most private servers.And ya know play the game, but throwing people from the start into one congregated chat is just asking for trouble for people that actually are just going to spam or be disruptive. And not only that, there's an argument to be made that it kills the social/exploration aspect of this game.And i remember being back in late Burning Crusade and WOTLK when it was live content people'd call others Flaggots etc.....Nothing happened. Like a guy spamming the N word over and over, ok i get it, but a guy passing a joke and sly comment about the state of the world, Drag queen story hour, rigged elections, i'm sorry that's wrong and not only wrong BS lol. Sure it would be nice to discuss world issues and politics but I rarely see that being banned.. it's mostly people making cringe sexual comments or attention seekers that get temporary mutes. And like I said, GMs really only moderate world chat. There's a lot of guilds on this server surely you could find one that could fulfill your need to discuss rigged elections with strangers on the internet XD Personally I agree with you but I joined the server to experience vanilla gameplay so it's not as big of a deal. were you banned from Twow btw? Or did you not try it? Also disagree about the point of world chat killing social aspect of the game. It helps with sales, finding guilds, groups, friends, or just random socializing. There is a lvl you have to reach to unlock the ability to type. Not sure how that helps "naturally filter those people out" however. It seems like you care more about politics and such more than playing the game.. which is fine not every server has to appeal to everyone.

Love the server, but my main critique would be the devs don't really pay attention to class balance as much as I'd like. Certain talents still don't really make sense and they didn't really address the main issues some classes had in original classic. Overall the server is great though.
TWoW was great until Chinese came. Chinese are like Russians but much worse at least Russians sometimes speak English and aren't completely horrible but Chinese take all the fun out of game.
Its been up for over 5 years. More than 90k new accounts were being created simultaneously today because of the launch of two new asian servers. There will be more people playing twow than wow classic soon enough and there isn't anything blizz can do about it. Thats facts
What I like least about the server is how overcrowded it is - well over one hour weekend queue, Chinese invasion, skins that are even worse than transmog - for example when druid has a skin, you can't even see what form he's in, it's absurd, transmog, hardcore alongisde normal players competing for everything, and finally i loathe cross faction. Cross faction is especially disgusting when you have cross faction partied players engaging in PVP and healing each other. And I've seen that a lot among dungeon parties. It is forbidden but hardly enforced. To me Turtle feels like a "fun server" way too much and it completely breaks the vanilla feel.
Well...I'm done with Turtle WOW after about 3-4 weeks. I really like the server. Scripting is great. GMs are active. Here's why I'm done in no specific order. The Chinese presence there is so strong that the Chinese chat is taking over forums. Second, the queue is now like a two hour wait on a Monday morning and the pop is like 15k and more. Instead of relaxing while questing it's overrun. Third, while I do not mind at all 1x for Vanilla it is also important to recognize that people are in Naxx gear while you are leveling at 1x. Those people have alts, of alts, of alts they are playing to compete with you for your first piece of tier or first real decent weapon or trinket. The range between beginners and extremely geared players is just too great. I want to spend my time leveling on a fresh server where we can all level and be competitive. I would stay at Turtle WoW on a completely fresh server with no Chinese. I'm waiting for something fresh somewhere like the Turtle server.

Changes? CHANGES? Changes. I really enjoyed my time on Turtle WoW and I'm glad Alex could see the light on this one. And like him this was the first time I've felt nostalgia and actually fully leveled a character 1-60 since vanilla. I know some people are adamant about no changes, but there are many issues with no changes. The main issue is no changes is designed for large pop BACK IN THE DAY and doesn't translate well to the modern day with dozens upon dozens of private servers, the 3 Blizzard options, as well as competing with the plethora of OTHER MMOs on the market. When you ADD IN the fact the game runs on a 2 year timescale with 2 FACTIONS that further split the population, combined with the toxic culture of Pservers, the reality is that it's just going to fail more often than not. Only sweatlords can commit to no changes vanilla and it causes a lot of toxicity and makes the population more fragile. I know some people hate cross-faction but it undeniably helps with population stability. Banning all the toxic shitheads, removing GDKP and gold based services in chat. Despite the fact the server is fully progressed people are STILL playing and finding new ways to enjoy the game. People are pugging, making alts, and enjoying the game instead of being toxic and spamming "dead server" and "fresh when?". The fact you can be a casual and still raid is a big reason too. Turtle WoW is all the fun, nostalgia and magic of that first year of Vanilla without alot of the negatives. Reality is I don't think true vanilla can ever be emulated again in the modern gaming climate. The game needs changes to survive, IMO.
The great thing about playing TWoW, is there's always changes and new content to look forward to coming, and staying at 60, you know your gear and character will be there and won't be left behind. Also the problem with a no changes 1.12 server is there's nothing to look forward to once it's fully progressed as no changes or content are coming.

You are wrong about a couple of things. #1 this server is very much censored. You are not allowed to sound like you are saying anything negative or "political"; and "political" means non woke. You are allowed to shit on USA all you want. #2 this server chose to deal with allowing Chinese IPs in the wrong way. That is why we have a 6K queue that takes 2 hours. Now they did add a Mainland & Singapore server, but we still have Q. There was no queue before the Chinese IPs were opened up so in a few months over half the pop is Chinese. Hopefully that will change over time but it hasn't

You can shit all you want, but you can't deny the fact that Turtle WoW is well structured private server. I didn't had a lot of expectations when I started, but after 1 day was blown away they way they handled things, and how much content they added to the game (ex blizzard ideas + innovation). The biggest plus for the server is all these new quests, areas, zones, dungeons, raids that make sense with the current lore of this version of WoW. None of the new items feel overpowered, or out of place.
And in before (dude, this server has shop), well ofc it has, they actually pay to professional devs to do things for the game, and those guys aren't cheap either. Not even close. The amount of content they added is worth every donation you did. Does it have toxic dingleberries? Ofc! Like in every MMO, retail, or private, you got these muppets. Turtle WoW is currently the best private server for vanilla + content, all done in very professional way. Like every private server there's always drama. My advice to you is not pay attention to any of those if doesn't affect you. There's no GDKP which is a big plus, no bots, nothng, just pure classic. Have fun and if you haven't played Turtle, now is the time.
@@server1ok They do charge by the hour, or project - it depends. Bug fixes are free of charge obviously. I started on TWoW when it had about 250-300+ players only, and it was on HC. In fact I was one of the first HC runners and leading the race and because of that I had a chance to speak with Torta couple of times back then.
I heard they are working mostly with Russian and Ukranian devs and they are paying them very solid for the work done. Don't be mistaken just because they are russian is cheap, because they aren't. Just to be clear; they do pay to their devs or patches will never happen. In fact new dungeon and a raid is coming soon so there's that.

and this is why my first action in any game is to quit world chats. its NEVER anything else than a chat filled with slurs, mad ppl, insane moderators (or none, at all) that basically create their own bubble out of some power in a video game and trolls. the amount of useful messages or even having a good talk that doesnt match the lows of barrens chat on a friday night is close to absolute zero.

I think they'll bring in the alpha version of outlands at some point, the one thats "connected" to the Deadmines dungeon. Not sure how that will play out lore wise, but we can hope.

Im thinking of giving turtle wow a chance once the new pvp server launches on oct 27.
I tried to create an account but it wouldnt take. The website was bugged or something. Anyway, I tried another one and by audio kept on crashing minutes into playing it. I said to hell with it and uninstalled vanilla wow. Sad because I had the urge to play too. It's been 2 years since I played wow. Last time I played wow, it was on vanillawow. Not sure it's still around anymore. I had no problems there.

I checked it out, and all of the content addons are so cool but I eventually tapped out due to the balance being weird.
It seems like tWoW has extra love for some classes and a lack of love for others; the lacking being rogues and shamans, and the extras being Paladin paladin and paladin haha.
I love questing and leveling up and acquiring loot and such but I'm also a massive, massive fan of PvP and I can't abide the hammer being slammed on certain classes. I don't even main rogue haha, but I dislike that sort of baleful vibe some of the balance changes seem to flaunt.
To be honest i've been curious about playing Turtle WoW.. just to try it

China has flooded the server causing the insane queue times. And because they're buying the store mounts like crazy, the GMs are actively ignoring them botting and giving them priority queue times
What Turtle WoW has done is what Blizzard should have done to WoW instead of all the stupid expansion packs that did nothing but make the world goofy and kill the game.

As i mentioned in a reply, my biggest issue with Turtle WoW and why i can't jump on it, despite some cool ideas and features here.I can't get behind Turtle WoW's GM's Speech policing policies. And to offer up a Practical solution here, having Worldchat where everyone from the start is just thrown in is a bad idea, because you have people that are ***Toxic*** along with well to do people, it should've just been the standard have the general/tradechat, that's it. Having a Worldchat is also just asking for trouble, the game naturally would filter those people out as you'd lvl up along with a lvl requirement to speak which is standard practice on most private servers.And ya know play the game, but throwing people from the start into one congregated chat is just asking for trouble for people that actually are just going to spam or be disruptive. And not only that, there's an argument to be made that it kills the social/exploration aspect of this game.And i remember being back in late Burning Crusade and WOTLK when it was live content people'd call others Flaggots etc.....Nothing happened. Like a guy spamming the N word over and over, ok i get it, but a guy passing a joke and sly comment about the state of the world, Drag queen story hour, rigged elections, i'm sorry that's wrong and not only wrong BS lol. Calling out what's wrong is bannable? I'm sorry i can't lol. Doesn't help that most of the people who run these servers and GMs just happen to be leftist themselves or leftist lite.

just find a guild and don't type "risky" stuff in world chat. Been playing since mid April and also had a concern seeing the reviews about the "free speech" issue on this server. Well.. after leveling 1-50 in newcomers guild and watching the chat I've seen a fair share of racist or edgy attention seeking people. I'm glad they mostly get shut down quick. Sure it would be nice to discuss world issues and politics but I rarely see that being banned.. it's mostly people making cringe sexual comments or attention seekers that get temporary mutes. And like I said, GMs really only moderate world chat. There's a lot of guilds on this server surely you could find one that could fulfill your need to discuss rigged elections with strangers on the internet XD Personally I agree with you but I joined the server to experience vanilla gameplay so it's not as big of a deal. were you banned from Twow btw? Or did you not try it?
Also disagree about the point of world chat killing social aspect of the game. It helps with sales, finding guilds, groups, friends, or just random socializing. There is a lvl you have to reach to unlock the ability to type. Not sure how that helps "naturally filter those people out" however. It seems like you care more about politics and such more than playing the game.. which is fine not every server has to appeal to everyone.
First of all, this server is based in Europe. There are more than two political parties beyond the confines of America. I am independent, and you sound like you are just looking for trouble

Love the server, but my main critique would be the devs don't really pay attention to class balance as much as I'd like. Certain talents still don't really make sense and they didn't really address the main issues some classes had in original classic.
Overall the server is great though.

TWoW was great until Chinese came. Chinese are like Russians but much worse at least Russians sometimes speak English and aren't completely horrible but Chinese take all the fun out of game.

Its been up for over 5 years. More than 90k new accounts were being created simultaneously today because of the launch of two new asian servers. There will be more people playing twow than wow classic soon enough and there isn't anything blizz can do about it. Thats facts

I wanted to play this server but the old version of the game they use is a pain to play in. Everything looks blurry and clunky.
It has transmog now
What I like least about the server is how overcrowded it is - well over one hour weekend queue, Chinese invasion, skins that are even worse than transmog - for example when druid has a skin, you can't even see what form he's in, it's absurd, transmog, hardcore alongisde normal players competing for everything, and finally i loathe cross faction.
Cross faction is especially disgusting when you have cross faction partied players engaging in PVP and healing each other. And I've seen that a lot among dungeon parties. It is forbidden but hardly enforced.
To me Turtle feels like a "fun server" way too much and it completely breaks the vanilla feel.
It is enforced if you make a ticket. Seen it happen a few times.

Its a rp server so transmog makes sense. If they ever do a pvp server it probably wont have transmog but if its rppvp then it likely will.

Well...I'm done with Turtle WOW after about 3-4 weeks. I really like the server. Scripting is great. GMs are active. Here's why I'm done in no specific order. The Chinese presence there is so strong that the Chinese chat is taking over forums. Second, the queue is now like a two hour wait on a Monday morning and the pop is like 15k and more. Instead of relaxing while questing it's overrun. Third, while I do not mind at all 1x for Vanilla it is also important to recognize that people are in Naxx gear while you are leveling at 1x. Those people have alts, of alts, of alts they are playing to compete with you for your first piece of tier or first real decent weapon or trinket. The range between beginners and extremely geared players is just too great. I want to spend my time leveling on a fresh server where we can all level and be competitive. I would stay at Turtle WoW on a completely fresh server with no Chinese. I'm waiting for something fresh somewhere like the Turtle server.
I don’t know what your argument is for making PvE competitive but that just seems like you love to rush content and quit the game instead of enjoying the journey and where it brings you.

I really enjoyed my time on Turtle WoW and I'm glad Alex could see the light on this one. And like him this was the first time I've felt nostalgia and actually fully leveled a character 1-60 since vanilla. I know some people are adamant about no changes, but there are many issues with no changes. The main issue is no changes is designed for large pop BACK IN THE DAY and doesn't translate well to the modern day with dozens upon dozens of private servers, the 3 Blizzard options, as well as competing with the plethora of OTHER MMOs on the market. When you ADD IN the fact the game runs on a 2 year timescale with 2 FACTIONS that further split the population, combined with the toxic culture of Pservers, the reality is that it's just going to fail more often than not. Only sweatlords can commit to no changes vanilla and it causes a lot of toxicity and makes the population more fragile.
I know some people hate cross-faction but it undeniably helps with population stability. Banning all the toxic shitheads, removing GDKP and gold based services in chat. Despite the fact the server is fully progressed people are STILL playing and finding new ways to enjoy the game. People are pugging, making alts, and enjoying the game instead of being toxic and spamming "dead server" and "fresh when?". The fact you can be a casual and still raid is a big reason too.
Turtle WoW is all the fun, nostalgia and magic of that first year of Vanilla without alot of the negatives. Reality is I don't think true vanilla can ever be emulated again in the modern gaming climate. The game needs changes to survive, IMO.
The great thing about playing TWoW, is there's always changes and new content to look forward to coming, and staying at 60, you know your gear and character will be there and won't be left behind. Also the problem with a no changes 1.12 server is there's nothing to look forward to once it's fully progressed as no changes or content are coming.
I asked them on the forums for pvp;and most od the people that replied bitched about it… saying its a clear no about pvp server… sad

I can't believe a criticism by some is that the server has a lot of Chinese players. So? Are they somehow less than? They're just people who want to play WoW that might speak a different language than you... unbelievable that anyone would care about that. at. all.
You are wrong about a couple of things.
#1 this server is very much censored. You are not allowed to sound like you are saying anything negative or "political"; and "political" means non woke. You are allowed to shit on USA all you want.
#2 this server chose to deal with allowing Chinese IPs in the wrong way. That is why we have a 6K queue that takes 2 hours. Now they did add a Mainland & Singapore server, but we still have Q.
There was no queue before the Chinese IPs were opened up so in a few months over half the pop is Chinese. Hopefully that will change over time but it hasn't
By the way I like the server. You should actually try the hardcore here. The rules make sense if you are hc.
