There's only so much your skin can do you might as well take care of it.
Some people are triggered by any reference to vanity. They see an interest in beauty as being entirely self-absorbed. But, how your skin looks is linked to your health in many cases.
Thats like saying that taking care of your teeth is "vanity". Just like skin there is aesthetics component such as not having yellow teeth and bad breath but we of course dont want teeth cavities which can progress and become more dangerous to health. Same thing with skincare, nice skin looks better aesthetically but there is health component too.
I really love lifestyle advice for healthy skin. Nothing to do with collagen, but back in the day, I went to a doctor in Russia for help with acne, they gave me a what-to-do-about-acne leaflet, which was full of diet, exercise, gut health, and stress management advice. And only towards the bottom did it say, “if you really want to, you can try a topical treatment such as Skinoren (azelaic acid product sold over the counter in Russia at 15% and 20%).” I appreciate a well-rounded approach like that.

I appreciate that you mentioned the word "size" of the food items. Americans have this obsession over big sized food items unlike any other culture. I remember seeing a video where people compared all the food items in McDonald's in Japan and the US. Interestingly, the burgers and fries are mostly the same size with very similar calorie counts, but what's drastically different is the size of the soda. In Japan the soda size is tiny compared to the US. I've also seen mini sized canned sodas and mini donuts in France as well. Both Japan and France have amazing food and sweets. I'm curious about nitrate free bacon? or turkey bacon? We have slowly removed any foods that come in a box or a can, that are full of strange chemicals etc. I am older, and I remember when the fast food restaurants has the "giant size" wars. All you had to do was "super size" your order. I was very careful when raising my kids to make their plates with proper serving sizes, and a balanced meal. They both still eat well and have told me they appreciate the way they learned to eat. I also tried to have a hot meal for them every night, cooking mostly from scratch. I would make a dessert on weekends, just once a week! Thank you for addressing this, Dr. Dray!

Hi Dr. Dray, What to you think about Collagen Supplement? Which on is best? How much is safe? I'm over 60 and took a collagen supplement for almost a year. I overall felt stronger.... My joints felt great, my nails grew stronger, my skin elasticity and gut health improved, etc. I would go back to taking a Collagen Supplement but I haven't seen much information about long term side effects. Must be doing something right. Just turned 49 and not a (permanent) wrinkle in my face. I look 30 at most and often get mistaken for much younger than almost a 50 year-old. But this is the way for many women in my family. Same with my mom at that age, same for my grandma on that side of the family. We have always eaten a starch (potatoes), lots of vegetables (heaping plate) and a meat of some sorts. No artificial snacks but rather fruits, no sodas except for once in a while. Things like that. There must be something to it. I think it does show what you put into your body. And it's also good for the body itself.
I truly appreciate your outlook, Dr. Dray! You strike a good balance between being as healthy as possible but yet also still enjoying life. It’s refreshing! 💛🙏🏻😘👩🏻⚕️

I don't really consume these types foods. White bread, I do sometimes eat as a snack or only just one meal. I compensate the fibre intake with brown rice and black rice. Hey Dr. Dray! I love your educational videos they make my day. I was wondering if you could possibly do a video on vitiligo? It’s something that I think is interesting and pretty cool especially since it’s being more normalized now that models with vitiligo are being casted for huge campaigns and covers.
People do ask about from time to time. One derm who does have one is Dr Davin Lim.
Great topic! I want to share my homemade low carb BBQ sauce here. Great on salmon, chicken, or salads.
6oz tomato paste
3/4 c apple cider vinegar
2T ghee
2T Maple lakanto
2T mustard
1T lakanto or pyure
1 T liquid smoke
1 tsp tamari
Water/xanthan gum (to thicken or water down)
Powdered onion, cumin, cayenne, paprika, garlic, chili flakes, sea salt
The donut part was hard to hear 🥲 but the rest of it made me glad I've given up mammals. I used to looove hot dogs and bacon and it's been hard giving them up but this adds another reason why I'm glad I did.
Bone broths are good for skin though.
Yes I sometimes miss being vegan but my son & his dad aren’t even close and I don’t want to make one meal yet alone two.
@@sharroon7574 I hear not only is killing animals for their bodies helps you look prettier, but the blood extracted from human babies makes you look even better! As long as you look good, who cares who dies? Right?
@@momentsformoms9467 wouldn’t want that pesky non murder to inconvenience a murdering family tho… ur right on point! Stay not vegan! Murder always wins! 👍🏼
Great video, but when she mentioned avocado on your hot-dog? Absolutely delicious! I like eating them with tomato and onions, as well. If you haven't, you should try it!
Thank for sharing this information in such a clear and positive way. Good choices can really improve our quality of life.
In America, we have "portion distortion"... Great term! And so true! A "medium" drink here is a Large most other places. It's crazy!
So true on portions, I had 2 meals from left overs from some restaurants.
No sugar all my life until after 40 years of age when I got surgical menopause, requiring HRT d/t severe post menopausal symptoms. BAM! Such intense sugar cravings that I’ve had to bring in chocolates and cakes for a nibble after dinner daily. I’ve tried my best to minimize it as much as possible but I want to improve further. How though?
Thanks so much for this. I was very curious about AGEs.
Traditional Texas BBQ marinate consists of lemon, vinegar to tenderize the brisket. But the slow smoking negates the good of this. But its still tasty regardless 😋
Thank you so much! This is very helpful for me. My daughter has Williams Syndrome and they are missing the elastin protein in the skin and because they have other health problems.
Thank You for your videos. I'm watching from Argentina! Just found your channel a couple of days ago, i want to learn new things
Just ate Doritos & find out they’re one of the worst foods for glycation.😒 Luckily, I gave up most of the foods you mentioned here. I used to drink 3-5 sodas a day & quit in December. I now drink stevia sweetened water with lime. Giving up my soda was so hard for me.
Thanks for this video. 🙏😃
Good morning Dr Dray, Happy Wednesday!
Happy Wednesday
Hi, dr dray I was wondering what are your thoughts on food earth diatomaceous?
Dray!
All your videos are just so refreshing.
Yes to everything in moderation!
Thank you for sharing.
Such a important topic excellent explanation of specifics! Personally I have eliminated all those foods and the differences are eye opening. A+video ☕️🧴☀️⭐️
Thank you so much
@@DrDrayzday you’re welcome based on health one of the most important videos you’ve done! ✅
Hi Uncle Charlie! How was your day? Hope you had a nice one. Still very humid here and we had bad storms this afternoon. Is it Fall yet??!! This heat is killing me! 😒
These tips were great! Fortunately, I'm the person who can't eat dinner without vegetables and could live on oatmeal and boiled or steamed broccoli, but I have incredibly sweet tooth. Does anyone have some tips how to reduce eating sweets? That would be greatly appreciated.
Great information Doc. I try and eat a lower sugar diet. I am guilty of doing a “home pour” when I have a glass of wine 🍷 while at home. I will keep what you said in mind. 👍🏻
What if I can't eat whole grain/high fiber food because of digestion issues? What should I do?
Your apartment and lifestyle are so inspiring to me! It feels so sophisticated and peaceful.
You should talk about certain foods that are shown to improve skin health also
She has videos on that.
Cinnamon garlic cumin ginger vinegar
Does constant exposure to blue light from smart phones, computers, etc., affect collagen integrity?
The only thing I eat off that list every day is white bread, everything else is very occasional, going to replace the bread with brown whole grain😄 I’m good to go! Thanks dr dray🧡 💙
These are the sorts of videos that I've come to know and love from Dr Dray. Don't underestimate the importance of what NOT to do. ;)
Happy Wednesday everyone!! Be blessed 💝
Greetings Kathy Houston hope u r well n Happy Wednesday😀👍💜....

7:54 ~ "Portion Distortion" 👏🏼
No not bacon as well I could have guessed it’s just so good
Does caffeine consumption affect collagen?
See her videos on caffeine/coffee.
thank you dr and happy Wednesday everyone
Would love to see a review on this! Thanks for all of the wonderful information you provide!!
White bread makes bloating so I dont eat what can I eat as in bread
We definitely need more videos like this 👍
Must be doing something right.
Great video. How can fermented wine be bad for your skin. Its fruit.
Hi 👋🏼! I wanted your input on the best skin product for blue light protection. I sit in front of a computer for eight hours any tips and recommendation on what I should put on my face for blue light protection. Thank you! 😊🌸
Listening to your videos is better than going to the doctor because I can rewind if I need to! I so appreciate all of your advice and insight.
I don't really consume these types foods. White bread, I do sometimes eat as a snack or only just one meal. I compensate the fibre intake with brown rice and black rice.
I eat chips and packaged cookies occasionally, but just a few pieces. I would skip them for banana and soy milk though.
I steam and boil a lot because I'm lazy lol.
