Im 40 and using tret for anti aging and my skin is amazing. I love this product. Its replaced every single anti aging product I’ve ever bought from expensive brands. There are 2 tips I’d like to share. 1. I apply my .025% tret over freshly cleansed DAMP skin. It spreads better that way and it’ll be absorbed better. I noticed better results applying tret to damp skin. 2. I do not cleanse my face in the morning. I’ll splash water and wash my face real quick with water only, and this step dramatically improved my skin barrier health. The oils skin releases over night are protective and not cleansing them off every day has dramatically improved my complexion and how good my skin looks and feels. It feels younger, thicker and bouncier. I basically cleanse my skin once a day and that’s at night before I apply tret. Most nights I don’t even moisturize since my tret % is so low. It’s not drying for me, it’s just right ❤
It's great that works for you but I've seen several derms who say it's best to apply retinoids to dry skin due to the retinoid possibly causing irritation due to being absorbed deeper when damp.
I've had same results doing that routine! I'm 71 and have worked up to 1% in 3yrs. People tell me my skin looks amazing although I def have deep crows feet and forehead furrows😭🤣
@@kcloveonaleash that’s great! 😃 I’ve been at .025% since June 2023, and I’m comfortable here for now. Definitely looking forward to upping my %. I’ve been using Tretinoin for 3 years. I first use a moisturizer, wait 20 minutes, then apply tretinoin. I got a facial last week, & the facialist was surprised that my skin wasn’t dry due to using Tretinoin. I’m 74 yo I use sunscreen every day sunny, or cloudy.
Just a suggestion but I used Rosehip oil. People use it for stretch marks as well. I don't know the science of it. I only know it works like exfoliation (but gentler) so it sloughs off the top layer and makes everything uniform and I guess new skin layers can regenerate better. Seems to help with vascular stuff too. Stimulating blood flow and circulation which helps healing, I'm not 100% that it isn't just the massage action, although I've used other oils that don't seem to generate the same results
I layered Tretinoin with tranexamic acid and it worked incredibly fast for hyperpigmentation.. in 1 week I’ve seen visible changes.. in 2 weeks pigments are nearly faded.. layering was the best decision I took

This is encouraging. This is how I plan to use tretinoin as well, patiently. 😊

I think it’s important to listen to your Skin - not everyone is a good candidate for Tret - if you have done all the barrier supporting things whilst using it and it still doesn’t work for you - it might be worth trying adapaline or using an over-the-counter retinal I just don’t like this notion of you’re gonna age awfully if you don’t use Tret - if you keep destroying your skin barrier and irritating your skin consistently that’s going to age you - so it’s a balance
Yes, I tried under my dermatologist and actually got a rash on other parts of my body. I showed him and he was like "no more for you", but I was able to tolerate two courses of Accutane for cystic acne when I was younger.
Have sensitive skin so I was shocked that my skin has tolerated it well, but I started with adapalene for two years before. I also used it every other night. One thing I did learn is that niacinamide causes horrible rashing so I avoid all products with it. Unfortunately, everything does now, including OIl of Olay shea body wash (B3). On the nights I use niacinamide, I cleanse, apply tretinoin, and then add a DIY oil blend that includes helichrysum oil (I love the smell), frankincense, myrrh, lavender, and sandalwood with argan as a carrier oil.
i'm confused on what you said at the 5th mistake, Niacinamide (for example) has anti-inflammatory properties and regulates oil production so it can help some purging side-effects while on Tretinoin. I understand for the first few months not using it but after your skin has gotten used to the retinoid it is more safe to incorporate other ingredients back into the routine. Along with helping the purge Niacinamide also has anti-aging benefits and helps with acne so it can increase the effectiveness of Tretinoin. I understand this is not the case for everyone some might find incorporating something like hyaluronic acid or niacinamide into their routine while on Tretinoin very irritating which is completely understandable but alot might find the exact opposite so saying u should never do this raised questions in me. It exfoliates and lightens sunspots as well . good luck

Thanks for all the heads up. Tretinoin is not working for me. I have been using prescribed 0.05% Tretinoin for 18 months now, 3x week and religiously and I have not seen any difference at all. I have read articles, I have read posts in forums, I have watched videos claiming that in 6 months is when you will see changes. My wife said, "you just wasted your money. Don't believe everything you see on the intermet". I still see the same hyperpigmentation. 3 weeks ago though, I bought lactic acid 50%. I stopped using tretinoin for 3 days before I used lactic acid. After the 4th day from application, I got some light peeling. I had a spot that was caused by an acne so many years ago. It peeled and it has lightened 60%. I haven't used lactic acid so last night, I used tretinoin 0.05% again. I really don't know why tretinoin doesn't work for me. I can take a picture of the product including the ingredients and let me know if it's a bad product. It's prescribed though and we bought it from a drug store where we showed a prescription.
I use it every night. I will never quit using it. I have had the top layer of skin gradually peel off( I did use a Buff Puff when it was peeling and that helped a lot). My skin is very soft now, with the wrinkles much less on my almost 81 year old face.

Dr. What do you think about products that contain retinol in conjunction with other active ingredients, such as Dr. Shaw's products, Renedis for dark spots, for example?
Yes! I commented on another dermatologist's video about them mixing retinol and glycolic acid together even though I always see it recommended against. The people are responding with 'just use moisturizer' as if that will save you from bad ingredient reactions.
Hello everyone! My dermat has prescriped tretinoin 0.0125 gel for mild cystic acne and mild rosacea, once a week, aziderm 10% cream twice a week spaced out (2-3 days in between), and top it with moisturiser at night. Spf in morning. What do you all think if this is an okay strength for starting? I used tretinoin 15 years back in teenage years, so I am aware of mild purging
i started using tretinoin last night and I tried to use a very little amount, but I feel like since I haven't experienced any dryness or anything I didn't apply it properly or used too little. Should I use it again tonight or wait a few days - and is dryness specifically a guaranteed side affect or will I still benefit from the medication if I don't experience dryness? My skin is already kind of dry during the winter so I' dont know what to think
Yes, I dot them all over and I find that if I don't quickly rub them together, it's tough to get them everywhere. My skin absorbs the cream very quickly (I guess) or I just have a big face. 😂 Thanks all for the tips.
I know to avoid irritation you should apply a pea-sized amount on dry skin. I wonder which is more important, because altering one of them would help get it evenly. A larger amount on dry skin might spread more, but a pea-sized amount on damp skin after moisturiser would also spread easier. I would probably go for the latter method and use it over a moisturiser to help it spread.
my dermatologist advised me to mix my hydroquinone and tretinoin and use it every night for 10 days, i will be back this month on the 23rd bcoz she will see the result, do i have to worry?i don't have acne or pimple but i have dark spots

I love your videos . I know you are in Florida , hope you are safe . I know that’s unrelated to video .
I’m using Paula’s choice and i’m experiencing purging at the moment but just on my chin and i’ve noticed i have a lot of small closed bumbs in there. So i was thinking it will take time to be cleared up. I’m patiently waiting for the clear skin after.
update??
I wonder if it’s okay to use the Dark Spots treatment with tret 0,025% because it’s not very strong
I am alternating both, but I use .05 tret.
EXCELLENT VIDEO ❤✝️ BLESSINGS ALL THE WAY FROM MONTERREY MÉXICO 😊
Hello everyone! My dermat has prescriped tretinoin 0.0125 gel for mild cystic acne and mild rosacea, once a week, aziderm 10% cream twice a week spaced out (2-3 days in between), and top it with moisturiser at night. Spf in morning. What do you all think if this is an okay strength for starting? I used tretinoin 15 years back in teenage years, so I am aware of mild purging
Can a person with ulcerative colitis condition use this cream?
Has anyone used for anti aging ...i do not have acne.im just looking for cell turn over and exfoliating
i started using tretinoin last night and I tried to use a very little amount, but I feel like since I haven't experienced any dryness or anything I didn't apply it properly or used too little. Should I use it again tonight or wait a few days - and is dryness specifically a guaranteed side affect or will I still benefit from the medication if I don't experience dryness? My skin is already kind of dry during the winter so I' dont know what to think
That means your skin is tolerating it well
is avulga and tretinoin are same ?? pls reply
Is the gel version better than cream? I have oily skin/combination T-zone and I still sometimes get breakouts with the cream version (0.025%)
Try the gel, some find the cream comedogenic. But I feel the gel is v. Potent, the emollient in cream act as buffer
I've tried using a pea size and I find that it absorbs in my skin so fast that i find I can't rub it evenly on my face.
Not a Derm lol, but have you tried dotting it around and then rubbing it in?
You can try 13 dots on your skin
Yes, I dot them all over and I find that if I don't quickly rub them together, it's tough to get them everywhere. My skin absorbs the cream very quickly (I guess) or I just have a big face. 😂 Thanks all for the tips.
I know to avoid irritation you should apply a pea-sized amount on dry skin. I wonder which is more important, because altering one of them would help get it evenly. A larger amount on dry skin might spread more, but a pea-sized amount on damp skin after moisturiser would also spread easier. I would probably go for the latter method and use it over a moisturiser to help it spread.
my dermatologist advised me to mix my hydroquinone and tretinoin and use it every night for 10 days, i will be back this month on the 23rd bcoz she will see the result, do i have to worry?i don't have acne or pimple but i have dark spots
update??

Nice 👍❤❤
Hi Iam using tretinoin for 2 day in aweek and niyacinimiede for remaining 4 day is it ok ??
I have been using tretinoin for 5months now and ive noticed white spots on my face is this common
I have been Tretinoin for 1.5 to help with those white spots on my skin. I am hoping it will make them go away.
That sounds like hypopigmentation. I would talk to a dermatologist
You prefer using tretinoin at night...? I think you mean it HAS to be used at night because it is photo unstable.
So if I start using it at 27M, is my skin going to look like teenager's?
No. It will help improve signs of aging you already have but it's not going to magically reverse your skins age
Vitamin A , loss of vision
Sensible advice - thank you from a licensed esthetician.
I am a new tretinoin user and i used it 2 times a day for straight 2 days😂 and now my skin is peeling and it is burning as hell🥲
Oh no, sweetheart 😢. Trust me, you aren't the only one.
So didi you stop using it ?? Or you continued it
you have to use it with winter Creams ❤
@@JhatpatKhanaI started using it properly... Use once a week at night with lots of moisturizer and do not skip the sunscreen in the morning.... We need to prepare our skin accordingly ❤
madam Please help ne please
Ngipin😂😂😂
Pea size ...REALlY ?people don't know ??😂
A pea size will be enough for the entire face, I’ve found.
Omg…..way too much chatter on #1. STOP!! Just give us the “mistakes!”
The mistake is using that stuff😉 You don't need al this harsh , chemical crap on your skin. Nourish & be gentle with your skin.
There’s over a hundred medical studies that will disagree with you. To each their own. My skin has never been better since starting retinoids.
I’ve been using it since 2007. I am 60 years old and I look like I’m in my late 40s. 😊
How can you prove that?
This channel is run by a science and fact based dermatologist. Probably not a channel for you.
😂😂 Don't be ridiculous
