- I've used this Dewalt DWS715 12" miter chop saw on our cabin since August. It's a beast of a machine. The bad part was, I borrowed it. He wanted it back. To my surprise the new model had upgrades and was priced unbelievable. It's built like a rock! A must for construction jobs. Click the bell and sub. You never know what we'll be rolling out next.

We use these at the yacht company I work for. We must have 25 or 30 of them, and they see hundreds if not thousands of cuts a day. Aluminum, thick exotic hardwoods; we put them through their paces and in my 5 years at the company I've never seen one replaced!
I was really surprised how much cutting power (and torque) this saw had out of the box. I've used other (10" saws) previously and was pretty surprised with the speed and cutting ability of this Dewalt saw.I have bolted mine to a table to minimize movement which I highly recommend. This is a Great saw ruclips.net/user/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe with a light to see your cutting line (not a laser line).I'd recommend this saw fro anyone looking to upgrade from a 10" miter saw.
This is crazy. I am pretty newly retired, and at the stage of life where I am finalizing my power tool arsenal. I wasn't going to buy the chop saw just yet, because I just bought the table saw this week. Then I stumbled upon this video.
I cannot believe this saw is so inexpensive. I married DeWalt over 20m years ago. Every tool in my garage is black and yellow. But that means I am USED TO spending more for quality tools. I came here and found out that, for once, the DeWalt is the cheap one?
Man, I don't think my feet hit the ground on the way back to Lowes!! I caught this a year after you made it, and today it cost $199. I could not be happier!!
Thanks bro!
I just purchased this saw Sept 2, 2023 from HD for $249. It arrives tomorrow. Thanks for this vid.
I just bought this for $199 on Amazon. I feel better about my purchase now. Thanks
You forgot about the 2 switches. Right by where you change the degree, there's 2 little black things and you can just flip them yo get whatever angle you want and it locks by itself.
Thrilled to run across this at Lowes tonight for $199. My HD Ryobi last over 30 years but the switch just went out and it was time to get a new one. I’m sure I paid at least this much for my Ryobi which had thousands of cuts on it before it finally gave out. Never thought I would find a Dewalt for this price.
Today is my 25th anniversary with my company and we get a service award, a long list of stuff. I chose this saw, be here in 4 to 6 weeks.
Congrats on your job
Nice video, thanks for sharing. FYI: If you remove the tall left fence, you can cut 45 degrees no problem. My buddy had a DW715. Anyway, you've sold me on the DWS715 and Home Depot has it for $219 so I'm gonna order it. Thanks again brother.
If you check out one of my videos at the cabin, you can see how much I used this. It's a workhorse.
@@btuff Awesome, I'll subscribe then brother!
I got mine from Amazon for $219 w/ free delivery
@@darrylkim4799 DANG! Steal!
Just picked one up for $199. I have been using a hand saw to do little home projects over the year. I think this will be a nice improvement!
Where did you get one for $199?
@@jacobwellock8923 was on sale on Amazon.
nice vid Billy and nice saw, had the 10" model and recently got a 10" ridgid slide miter saw. might i also add, your tool review vid skills are not shabby, coming from a guy who watches lots of tool review vids. keep the btuff stuff coming!
Tools aren't really my background but I thought this saw was legit so it was worth the review.
Also I think those holes you mentioned are designed to be used as mounting holes if you want to screw into a workbench
They also sell mobile stands for them that utilize the holes.
Thank you for sharing all the information. It helps a lot for a new beginner. Thank you.
When did they change the design of the DWS715? The older design didn't have the cheap threaded handle to set the angle, but instead you would simply push down on the handle and it would clamp down and hold whatever angle you wanted.
Thank You!.....just got mine today....cannot find the Date Code on it in order to register it....
Can you use those to frag? lol
Make a playlist series about the reef man, love the vids!
I have a reef playlist
Just got mine and I’m so excited to start using it! I’m refinishing some dressers with fluted trim and herringbone pattern and I’m so excited to get started. Just trying to see if I need to tighten the blade or do anything before starting. I used a miter saw with my step dad remodeling growing up, but it’s been yearsss and his was old and not quite as nice 😅 And I never saw the initial setup.
I would double check. Just make sure it’s unplugged.
@@btuff Thanks! It won’t be plugged in for the first time until I’m sure everything is ready 👌
Hello Crystal....where on this saw is the Date Code? I cannot find it and it is needed for registering this saw it seems....thank you!
I bought one from Home depot Dewalt DWS715 W723 bundle with the heavy duty stand for $322.98 tax included
Just a little piece of advice for ya. If you borrow somthing from somebody DONT WAIT TILL THEY ASK FOR IT BACK. Return stuff in ckeamer condition. Without them having to ask for it. Thats pretty rude. Hope you listen to this advice. Its actually good advice.
I think you're the neighbor he borrowed the saw from? LOL
😂@@TolerantWig
Good advice! 👊
Thank you for the information. You did a good job explaining on the different details and how to set up and use it. The directions that came with the unit were not very helpful in my opinion. You were so much better!
Thank you, your video helped so much
Thank you very much. Nice video
Worth 150$ in box? Found one on marketplace
Aweful Nice neighbor 👍
Very helpful, thanks
that clip is NOT for the cord! Its for the tool that comes with the saw to change the blade....
Good info.. thank you
We do just commercial construction jobs we born 2 of this one's after we get tired of dewalt we buy one from harbor freight, the brand it's admiral way cheaper it's working real wood the bearings it's the big issue on dewalt maybe for a home job it's good not for commercial work
Those dust collectors are horrible they dont they dont collect much and they clog up easy
Thanks for demo out of the box, the instructions are horrible for the first timer!
That’s it? I’ll ware out my neighbors saw first then I’ll go out and buy me a new saw. 😂
I paid $179 for mine at Lowes... sweet saw. You should have bought your own to begin with.... don't use your neighbor's tools. ; \
Does this have a depth stop
Nice hands-on review, thank you! Try to include some specs for comparison. This was lacking. Intro was too long.
This DWS715 model Dewalt Miter Saw currently retails $329 at Home Depot and no blade.
This has Single-Bevel Compound Cut, but no Sliding Arm function. Also 15 Amps, 12" blade size, 4000 RPM.
The top of the line model DW779 Miter Saw retails $600. It has dual bevel, compound cut, Sliding arm, 15 Amps, 12" carbide blade, 3800 RPM, handles on both sides, dust collector and better technology.
Thank you & I just set mine up! Thank you for the walk through because man did I need it🦾
Thx.
Ok dude we get it you borrowed it from your neighbor!!! 😅
i have a flex volt can i remove the light and put a lazer in its place? DHS 790AT2
Are you talking about the light that casts the shadow line down the blade or just a basic work light? If it's the one that casts the shadow I wouldn't want to swap it. The shadow is way more accurate and never needs calibrating
I must have got lucky got mine for $200
Me too
You’re a trip. In any case..this one goes to the neighbor..you get the one with the mileage. #DoTheRightThing
you don’t decide what the right thing is bruh you don’t know shit about their relationship lol
$199 right now on Amazon
Just got mine today $219 homedepot
DAMN!
it used to be $199 at Lowes. Still $219 is a bargain for a quality 12" saw.
Link to the saw. @t
Woodworking Beginner: New - Update.
This test is only if you want to saw with precision with a miter saw.(test is not intended for rough and hard work).
Tips and Test:
Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)!
Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a VERTICAL line above the saw blade.
Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt.
Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing .
And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft.
It is very important that everything is aligned.
Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade.
First option: handle vertical positioned above the saw blade.
Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact/ Bosch PCM 8 SD / Hitachi C10FSH / Ridgid MS255SR 10-inch / Evolution Fury3-S / Evolution R255SMS / Metabo HPT C10FSBS / Hitachi C10FSB / Hitachi C10FS.
Second optie: handle horizontal positioned above the saw blade / Evolution R185SMS / Evolution F255SMS / Evolution RAGE3R255 SMS3 .
(This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails).
(If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing.
Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed).
Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand or finger on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine.
Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing.
(test is completed).
Step-4. Therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned VERTICAL in line above the saw blade.
The second option is the handle positioned HORIZONTAL in line above the saw blade.
Step-5. When you measure the vertical 90 degrees angle square (Digital Level Box) of you're sawblade don't forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing.
Conclusion: how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing, you better not go for that. (the choices are yours).
Also with a cheap slide miter saw it is still better the handgriff in line a above the saw blade than on the right side. Maybe they will make it someday then we have a winner...
كم ثمنها بالدولار $$
Lmaf this is the most dangerous review read the manual. Don’t hold the plastic peace up well cutting.
God help you if you use a wood blade on metal.
